Happy 4/20 Day – Here’s Where Cannabis Has Been Made Legal in Some Capacity Across America

Happy 4/20 Day - Here’s Where Cannabis Has Been Made Legal in Some Capacity Across America

Happy 4/20 Day. To commemorate cannabis culture, it’s important to understand the strides that the agricultural business has made. Marijuana is still considered illegal on a federal level, but get this: it is legal in most states for medical or recreational use.

Just in November 2023, voters in Ohio chose to make cannabis the 24th state to approve recreational use of marijuana. What’s interesting is the conservative state of Florida will vote on recreational use in November. In 38 states, including Washington, DC, voters and/or legislators have approved some form of cannabis program.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear signed a law in late March to legalize medical use in the deeply red state, which will remain in effect until 2025. Twenty-four states and the District of Columbia have passed adult recreational use policies as law.

There is a lot of gray area regarding legalization policies across medical and recreational. There is much variance between the states regarding the complex nature of regulation and taxation. For example, when it comes to D.C., Congress stopped legal sales, so possession is allowed, but sales are not, technically. That’s weird, but some say it is progress. Now, other states are rolling that way, pun intended, and allowing for small amounts for medicinal use, under strictly mandated situations.

California was the first state to legalize medical cannabis. But it wasn’t until 2012 that Washington and Colorado became the first states to approve legal recreational use.

Since then, the majority of Americans have been increasingly supportive of legal cannabis measures. In 2022, President Joe Biden pardoned a wide range of individuals convicted for simple possession under federal law. He also ordered an official look at marijuana’s status as a Schedule I drug. Schedule I drugs, under federal law, do not have legitimate medical use. If the federal laws reverse this, then that will be a game changer that some believe is long overdue.

Rick Ross’ Cannabis Partner Gifted Him $130k Worth Of Jewelry

It doesn’t matter how good your 4/20 was because Rick Ross had a better one. In celebration of the day, the rapper received a pretty insane amount of jewelry from his cannabis partner, High Tolerance. They apparently have him $130,000 worth of jewelry as a gift. In a video shared by TMZ on April 25th, Manny, the CEO of High Tolerance, presented Ross with a ring, chain, and pendant. They acted as a costly token of appreciation. The chain boasts more than 19 carats of diamonds and is worth $40,000. The pendant is made of 14k rose gold and has a value of over $30,000. The ring, worth $60,000, contains over 22 carats of VS1 and f-colored diamonds, as well as 14k gold.

In March, Rick Ross formed a partnership with High Tolerance to create a cannabis strain called “Collins Ave.” The new strain is expected to be released on June 1. Ross expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that High Tolerance has the finest flower on the market. He also credited Manny, the CEO of High Tolerance, for his exceptional products. Manny, for his part, praised Rick Ross as a genuine cannabis expert. The company has partnered with many other celebrities in the past, including Jadakiss, Jim Jones, Ghostface Killah, Juelz Santana, and more. This is not the first foray into cannabis businesses for Ross, however.

Rick Ross’ Various Weed Ventures

Rick Ross has a history of using the name of his old Miami neighborhood for his weed business. In 2020, he collaborated with Berner’s Cookies cannabis brand to create “Collins Ave,” a line that included three carefully chosen strains: Collins Ave, Pink Rozay, and Lemon Pepper. At the time, he expressed his desire to establish himself as a leader in the cannabis industry and provide a high-quality product to consumers, particularly in the southern United States. Ross commended Berner and Cookies as the best in the business and voiced his admiration for their product.

Additionally, Rick Ross established his own cannabis-themed company in 2021. The rapper started the hemp company to focus on the promotion of the health benefits of the plant to smokers. “I truly believe in the health benefits of Hemp derived products,” said Ross. “Having had my own health scares, and through my healing process, I decided I would develop a line of smokables to help others with the benefits of Hemp cannabinoids.” What do you think of Rick Ross new partnership with High Tolerance? Buju Banton & Snoop Dogg Live The “High Life” On New Collab

Jamaican dancehall star Buju Banton is ramping up for the release of his next project. This morning, he teamed up with Snoop Dogg for their first collaboration together, “High Life.” Fittingly released around the official smoker’s holiday, 4/20, the two come through with an uplifting and breezy reggae jam. Their shared appreciation for cannabis takes center stage in this one as they detail the medicinal and holistic purposes of the plant. “High life, good weed all day and night,” Banton sings on the hook.

On Snoop Dogg’s part, he seemingly revisits the Snoop Lion era of his career. The Long Beach native provides his best attempt at Jamaican Patois during his verse as he similarly reflects on his love for smoking the finest herb, singing, “Real Ganja baby inside Buckingham Palace/ New York to West coast love that shit green.” Snoop Dogg and Buju Banton might come from different places, and occupy different musical spaces but “High Life” is a perfect combination of their respective styles.

Snoop Dogg Connects With Buju Banton

“High Life” ft. Snoop Dogg kicks off the campaign for Buju Banton’s next studio album. The dancehall star has been particularly busy over the past two years, providing fans with an influx of music. Following the success of Upside Down 2020, which boasted appearances from Pharrell, Stephen Marley, and more, he delivered the Be Humble EP. Hopefully, he won’t wait long to share the release date for his next opus.

Snoop Dogg has been particularly busy. With the re-launch of Death Row Records in 2022, he finally returned the label’s iconic discography to streaming services earlier this month. Outside of benign an executive, Snoop’s also coming off of a prolific run in 2022 that included the release of Mount Westmore’s Snoop Cube 40 $hort, as well as a string of solo releases, such as I Still Got It with DJ Drama, and several compilation projects, like Death Row Summer. Check out Snoop and Buju’s new collab above.

What them gonna do fi stop the ganja man crew
One puff from smoke and Babylon don’t see a who

Bebe Rexha Enlisted Snoop Dogg For ‘Satellite,’ A ‘Stoner Anthem’ Appropriately Dropped On 4/20

Snoop Dogg already sold out his limited-edition Doggystyle vinyl box set, but his celebration of 4/20 didn’t end there. He teamed with Bebe Rexha for her new single, “Satellite,” billed as a “disco-inspired stoner anthem.”

Out today, April 20, “Satellite” boasts a trippy video from Venturia Animation. It begins with the real-life Rexha and Snoop Dogg lounging around. Snoop is smoking a blunt, of course, and explains to Rexha that he’s there to help her “do some different things and go to a different place.”

“You know, Snoop, I’ve always wanted to go to outer space, and I heard you’re the right guy to talk to,” she says.

Snoop exhales in Rexha’s direction, and we’re taken into an animated universe. Naturally, an animated Snoop greets us — he has green skin and a goatee in the shape of a marijuana leaf — with, “‘Tis the season for pleasin’! What happens here, stays here. Am I loud and clear? Or is the smoke f*ckin’ with your ear?”

A disco-infused pop beat kicks in, and we find Rexha animated in the style of The Jetsons. “Last night I got higher than a satellite,” she belts.  “I took a one way ticket  / It’s a one man mission to paradise.”

Snoop adds an infectious flow, “Prepare to take flight / I’m the captain here, my dear / No veers just steer through the atmosphere / D-P-G-C, we be Snoopy Bebe.”

“Fans will be able to immerse themselves even further in the ‘Satellite’ universe with Bebe’s Mothership Hot Box,” a press release explains. “After logging on to the TerraZero Intraverse space, which delivers a higher fidelity experience that’s also mobile-accessible, visitors can explore vintage environments, dive into Rexha’s new music, seek out a very special prize, and of course, smoke a virtual blunt to blast off to the mothership!”

It continues, “The activation was built by TerraZero using their Intraverse technology — the debut of the technology for TerraZero and the first use of the technology for Warner and the music industry.”

Rexha is closing in on the arrival of Bebe, her third studio album due out on April 28.

Bebe is out 4/28 via Warner Records. Find more information here.

Snoop Dogg Couldn’t Let 4/20 Pass Without Dropping A Celebratory ‘Doggystyle’ Vinyl Box Set

Love isn’t a potent enough word to describe Snoop Dogg’s relationship with cannabis. The iconic West Coast rapper serenaded Tom Brady with a Christmas carol while lighting a blunt. During the same appearance on the Let’s Go! podcast, Snoop relayed the “most stoned” he’s ever been was with Willie Nelson in Amsterdam on 4/20.

You didn’t think Snoop would let this year’s 4/20 roll by without commemorating it somehow, did you?

Alongside Gamma, the Death Row Records owner re-released his debut Doggystyle album as a limited-edition vinyl box set:

“Happy 4/20 — the most important holiday of the year for us stoners — we have a special announcement, and a rare gift for you,” reads the caption to Gamma and Snoop’s joint Instagram post. “To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the legendary Doggystyle album, we’re dropping a box set of only (!!) 420 copies of very limited edition, numbered vinyl on 4/20 at midnight.”

It continues, “It features never-seen-before artwork for every song on the album by the original illustrator Joe Cool, white smoke 180 gram vinyl, and limited edition Death Row rolling papers for you to roll up while listening to one of the most important hip-hop albums of all time.”

The post was later updated to boast, “SOLD OUT IN 30 SECONDS.” The official product listing on Gamma’s website confirms it is indeed sold out, but Doggystyle: The 4/20 Vinyl Box Set was on sale for $104.99, and those lucky enough to land one can expect it to ship by June 20.

Doggystyle was released in November 1993. Snoop Dogg shared with Stephen A. Smith on the September 30, 2022 episode of the K(no)w Mercy podcast how he planned to commemorate the album’s precise anniversary.

“Me and Dr. Dre been working on an album for the past two months, and it’ll be done in November,” he told Smith. “And it’s produced by Dr. Dre. It’s our 30th anniversary to Doggystyle. And the name of the album is Missionary.”
