Nicki Minaj Makes Hip-Hop History With Her Pink Friday 2 Tour

Nicki Minaj just made history. She’s currently headlining the highest-grossing tour by a female rapper of all time, and she managed to do it in less than 20 shows. According to Touring Data, Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 tour grossed a record-setting $34.9 million within the first 17 performances. This achievement is a testament to the rapper’s catalog of hits and her ability to stay relevant a decade and a half after she arrived on the music scene.

Minaj’s longevity has been the subject of much discussion in recent years. Ja Rule praised the “Red Ruby da Sleaze” rapper during a 2023 episode of Stepping Into the Shade Room. “Minaj’s place in hip-hop is [solidified],” Ja asserted. “The female MCs they’re having a run like they’ve never had before, and to me, in my opinion, I would say Nicki re-opened that door.” Ja hasn’t been alone in this sentiment. Minaj, who dropped her debut album back in 2010, has also received props from Da Brat and GloRilla. “Staying in the game, staying strong,” the latter said during an appearance on The Heat. “I’m trying to be consistent like that.”

Minaj Has The Highest-Grossing Tour By A Female Rapper

Minaj not only claimed the highest-grossing tour by a female rapper, but the highest-grossing concert as well. Touring Data reports that the rapper’s Madison Square Garden show on March 30, 2024, grossed a whopping $2.858 million. The success of the tour should come as no surprise to hip-hop fans, as Minaj’s recent album also set records. Pink Friday 2 netted the largest first week vinyl sales by a female rapper in history, in addition to securing Minaj’s third number-one album. Pink Friday 2 also scored Minaj’s first #1 single as a solo artist, “Super Freaky Girl.” From a records standpoint, it’s a good time to be a Barb.

The numbers are also a nice return to form after Minaj’s messy exchange with Megan Thee Stallion. The two rapper traded diss tracks early on, but Minaj’s “Bigfoot” was widely panned by fans and critics alike. Megan’s diss, on the other hand, “Hiss”, received critical acclaim and topped the Billboard Hot 100. The two will likely continue to beef with one another into the future, but it’s evident from Minaj’s historic achievements that she doesn’t need to engage with other rappers to solidify her legacy.

Missy Elliott Breaks New Ground With Upcoming “Out Of This World” Tour

Missy Elliott is making history. The eccentric emcee will be embarking on her first ever headlining tour in 2024, after decades of influence and chart dominance. She initially broke the news of the “Out Of This World” tour on her Instagram, along with a heartfelt statement. “Fans have been asking me to tour forever,” she explained. “So I wanted to wait until I felt the time was right because I knew if I was ever going to do it, I had to do it big.” Missy wasn’t kidding. This upcoming tour will be an absolutely star-studded event.

The “Out Of This World” tour will feature Busta Rhymes, Ciara and Timbaland. All three artists are iconic in their own right, and have been collaborating with Missy for years. The “Supa Dupa Fly” rapper has always been loyal to those around her, and she really made a point of stressing the familial angle during the tour’s planning stages. “I had to do it with family,” she added. “So get ready to be taken OUT OF THIS WORLD with me, Busta Rhymes, Ciara, and Timbaland! We can’t wait to share this experience with the fans.” Furthermore, the IG announcement came with a teaser video directed by Dave Meyers.

Fans who’ve seen Missy Elliott’s music videos over the years know that Meyers is responsible for the visuals for singles like “Get Ur Freak On” and “One Minute Man.” The teaser is classic Missy, with her and Busta Rhymes donning bizarre, futuristic clothing as they discuss the possibility that they’re on a different planet. The tickets for the “Out Of This World” will be available starting with a Verizon presale on April 9. Additional pre-sale options will made available throughout the week, and the general sale will begin Friday, April 12 on Missy-Elliott.com.

Missy could not have picked a better time to embark on her first headline tour. Firstly, she became the first female rapper to be nominated and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2023, and secondly, she’s working on new music for the first time in two decades. Timbaland will produce the upcoming album, however he told Variety that it will feature Missy dabbling in experimental Latin sounds. “People gonna eat it up,” he teased. “[It’ll connect with] a different demographic of people. Some of it has a kind of Latin feel to it, almost a Bad Bunny effect.”

Snoop Dogg Announces Star-Studded “Cali To Canada” Tour In 2024

Snoop Dogg is a busy man. He’s been one of the hardest working figures in hip-hop history since he arrived on the scene, and he’s going to maintain his packed schedule with an upcoming tour in Canada. Snoop announced the tour on his Instagram, which will bear the catchy title of the “Cali to Canada Tour.” To really hammer the point home, the Doggfather is wearing a maple leaf hockey jersey on the poster. Snoop’s opening acts will be fellow west coast legends DJ Quik and Warren G.

The tour will span several Canadian cities, including Toronto, Calgary, Quebec City and Montreal. This is not the first time Snoop has toured the Sunshine Province, as he went on a joint tour with Wiz Khalifa in summer 2023. What makes the “Cali to Canada Tour” different, however, is the emphasis on cities in the rural Prairie province. There will be 11 dates in total, starting with Halifax on June 3 and ending with Vancouver on June 25.

It’s a great time to book tickets to a Snoop show. The rapper is experiencing a career renaissance between the 30th anniversary of his album Doggystyle and the anticipation for his upcoming album with Dr. Dre, Missionary. Snoop and Dre are selling Missionary as a spiritual sequel to Doggystyle, as evidenced by its personnel and suggestive album title. Snoop talked about the recording process for Missionary during an appearance on All the Smoke with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson. He praised Dre for challenging him as a rapper, and bringing out the “grown” side of his songwriting.

Tickets for the “Cali to Canada Tour” go on sale at 10 am on Friday, April 5th. The presale for the tickets kicks off on Thursday, April 4th, with additional pre-sale options throughout the week. Snoop also gave fans a code (“CALI2CANADA”) that will expedite the ticket buying process on sites like Ticketmaster. If you don’t get to see Snoop in Canada, the rapper will also be performing at the Lovers & Friends festival. The festival will be held in Las Vegas on May 4, and tickets are currently available.

Monica Sets The Record Straight And Responds To Ray J’s Tour Remarks

In the midst of speculation and chatter surrounding a potential tour involving Monica and Brandy, Monica has stepped forward to address the public discourse. Particularly in response to remarks made by Ray J. Taking to Instagram, Monica delivered a direct message to Ray J. She told him to stop speaking on her in public. The saga began when Ray J publicly advocated for a joint tour featuring Monica and Brandy. However, Monica took issue with the manner in which her name was being talked about in the media without any formal discussions or contracts being presented to her. “Ray J – I’m kindly asking you to stop speaking on me in public!” Monica wrote on IG. “A private conversation would be both necessary and respectful! Brandy is a LEGEND! She’s one of one with an extensive catalog that I deeply respect and a voice sent from heaven!”

“Please allow this to remain positive and beautiful!” She continued. “Neither should open, we should give someone else that opportunity and co-headline a massive shared stage if this is to ever happen! Any further convo should be private,” she relayed. “I’ve been repeatedly contacted about interviews where my name and tour possibilities are being discussed. I’ve not received any contracts or calls about said tour,” Monica clarified in her Instagram post, setting the record straight on her involvement in the purported tour. In her message to Ray J, Monica emphasized the importance of maintaining professionalism and respect in handling such matters, particularly when it involves esteemed colleagues like Brandy.

However, her response serves as a reminder of the significance of clear communication and mutual respect in the entertainment industry. As two accomplished artists with extensive catalogs and a shared history, Monica and Brandy deserve to have their voices heard and their wishes respected. Furthermore, Monica’s call for positivity and unity in navigating the situation reflects her commitment to fostering a harmonious working environment and ensuring that the focus remains on celebrating the artistry and talent of all involved.

Moreover, in her statement, she highlighted Brandy’s legendary status and the need for any further discussions regarding the tour to take place in private. Out of respect for both artists. JT Claps Back At Fan Who Says She Doesn’t Have Enough Songs To Tour

City Girls rapper JT has been on a Twitter tirade today. She’s posted dozens and dozens of tweets, some of them positive and others confrontational. One of the best was a joke about Lil Uzi Vert being proud of her for finally getting a job. The job she’s talking about is touring as she’s about to embark on her first ever solo tour. As the first show on the tour is just a few days away, she’s found herself defending some of her creative decisions along the way.

In a tweet from a now privated account, a fan called out JT for not having enough songs to tour. They joked about the rapper only having “three songs” as a solo artist. They seem to be unaware that she has an entire catalog of City Girls songs she could perform. “Yes! Yall go see bitches with no songs pour liquor down they throat but yall draw the line with my great music? Go sit your goofy ass down be trying to be so different matter fact come work the door!” JT’s response quote tweet reads. Check out the full Twitter interaction below.

JT Thinks She Has Plenty Of Songs

This isn’t even the first time JT has had to defend her tour on Twitter. Another fan tried to call her out for the kinds of venues that she is playing on the tour. As usual, she had a hard-hitting clap back for the fan that justified many of the bars and clubs she’s performing in. She’s often picking fights with people online to the extent that many try to bait her with hateful comments specifically to provoke a response.

Last year, City Girls released their new album RAW. One of the fan-favorite tracks on the record is JT’s solo song “No Bars.” What do you think of JT’s response to a fan’s claim that she doesn’t have enough songs to go on a solo tour? Do you plan on seeing her on tour later this year? Let us know in the comment section below.
