Movement Festival Announces Its 2022 Lineup With Flying Lotus And 2 Chainz Joining Dance Music Legends

One of the most important music festivals in the country, Detroit’s Movement Festival is a reminder of the undying influence of dance music culture. Some form of Movement has taken place in Detroit’s Hart Plaza for over 20 years, and over 100 acts will perform over this Memorial Day Weekend from May 28th – 30th, 2022. 2 Chainz and Flying Lotus have been added to a headlining slate that already included Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, and Adam Beyer.

What Movement does best, is present a canvas of dance music mainstays from both electronic music’s beginnings and the contemporary artists that dominate the dance floor today. A Carl Craig B2B set with James Murphy illustrates this collision of the different ends of the spectrum the best and the thoroughly packed lineup builds from there.

Storied influential selectors are everywhere on this bill. From Detroit techno legends in Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson (performing under his E-Dancer moniker) to two of the greatest drum and bass producers of all time in LTJ Bukem and Goldie, who’ll be performing a B2B set for the first time ever. The slate of budding modern masters is deep, with Maya Jane Coles and Seth Troxler to Skrillex and Soulection founder Joe Kay.

It’s a loaded lineup for the return of this dynamic cultural function. peep the full lineup and get tickets are now on sale at www.movementfestival.com.

2 Chainz Puts Only A Blinged-Out Car Show In His ‘Kingpen Ghostwriter’ Video With Lil Baby

2 Chainz’s new album Dope Don’t Sell Itself — which he’s promised is his final trap album — has been out for a little under a month and in that time, he’s released no fewer than five music videos from it, including clips for “Million Dollars Worth Of Game” with 42 Dugg, “Pop Music” with Beatking and Moneybagg Yo, “Neighbors Know My Name,” and “Free B.G.” Today, he released the latest, “Kingpen Ghostwriter,” which features an electric verse from Lil Baby.

In the video, 2 Chainz performs to the camera in a garage decked out in an outrageous-looking puffer jacket and his usual assortment of diamond-covered jewelry while leaning on a trio of matching luxury cars. Intercut between his performance scenes are shots of a model in a diaphanous white gown taking selfies in a room full of fans and white columns, who also shows off her twerking skills. Lil Baby appears in the latter half of the video to rap his verse while wearing a Baja jacket (which is looking like an emerging trend lately). It’s a simple but effective treatment that should help keep Chainz’s last trap album at the top of mind until he’s ready to move onto his next phase.

2 Chainz’s Fiery ‘Free B.G.’ Video Pays Homage To The Incarcerated Cash Money Rapper

Dope Don’t Sell Itself, the new album from 2 Chainz and allegedly his final trap rap project, is out now via Def Jam. During its rollout, Chainz has kept up a steady stream of content, including a live television performance of “Lost Kings” with Lil Durk and Sleepy Rose, a fire LA Leakers freestyle over Pharcyde’s 1992 classic “Passin’ Me By,” and music videos for “Million Dollars Worth Of Game” with 42 Dugg, “Pop Music” with Beatking and Moneybagg Yo, and “Neighbors Know My Name.”

Adding to that latter category, yesterday, 2 Chainz shared the off-roading video for “Free B.G.” In it, Chainz and a crew of motorsports enthusiasts take over a vacant airplane hangar to do donuts and wheelies on ATVs and dirtbikes while a whole fleet of scantily-clad women twerks to the Mannie Fresh and Mondo-produced beat. The lyrics pay homage to Mannie’s former labelmate B.G., with Chainz calling himself a hot boy — borrowing from the name of the quartet which B.G. belonged to with Juvenile, Lil Wayne, and Turk — and chanting to free the incarcerated rapper, who was convicted of gun possession and witness tampering in 2012 and sentenced to 14 years in federal prison.
