Drake Is ‘Ducking’ Rolling Loud Despite An Offer To Headline All Three Nights, According To The Festival’s Founder

Although 2024 was a relatively bad year for Drake, it’s indisputable that he’s one of rap’s biggest names and has been for at least a decade. Meanwhile, for much of that time, Rolling Loud has been the premiere hip-hop festival, expanding to eight countries and multiple events across the US with some of the biggest names in rap today. For reference, this year’s lineup will be headlined by ASAP Rocky, Playboi Carti, and Peso Pluma.

However, while Drake and Rolling Loud joining forces sounds like it should be a no-brainer, the star has apparently “ducked” the festival for the past seven years. According to the festival’s founder, Tariq Cherif (you can check out Uproxx’s interview with him here), Drake has actually turned down some pretty unusual offers, including one to have him headline all three nights of the festival. During an interview with Los Angeles radio personality Big Boy, the host asked Cherif if there were any white whales Rolling Loud hasn’t booked yet, and with no hesitation, Cherif answered, “I’ll say it, I don’t care. I feel like Drake’s ducking us.”

“I got no beef with Drake,” he clarified. “I like Drake, I feel like he’s a great artist. We’ve been trying to book him forever. We even offered Drake three nights of Drake… he’d be the headliner for three nights.” Cherif hints that another festival appears to be angling for the same deal, but shrugs it off.

It’s hard to see why Drake wouldn’t do Rolling Loud — especially after the year he’s had. If nothing else, it could get him back into the good graces of hardcore fans and begin repairing his damaged connection to the culture (more than appearing on livestreams with… questionable politics anyway). Perhaps it’s in the cards in the future, but for now, it sounds like Rolling Loud will continue to be a Drake-free zone — and had the chance to do the funniest thing ever with another artist they’ve yet to book.

One of the year’s most-anticipated music festival lineups is here. Bonnaroo 2025, held as always in Manchester, Tennessee, is being headlined by Luke Combs and Dom Dolla on Thursday; Tyler, The Creator, John Summit, and Glass Animals on Friday; Olivia Rodrigo, Avril Lavigne, and Justice on Saturday; and Hozier, Vampire Weekend, and Queens Of The Stone Age on Sunday.

There’s also Goose, Tipper, Wallows, MJ Lenderman, Glorilla, Tyla, Hot Mulligan, Beabadoobee, Barry Can’t Swim, and Remi Wolf, who is throwing an “insanely fire 1970’s pool party superjam.” Another fun addition to this year’s lineup is King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard playing a mini-residency with three sets over the course of three days.

Tickets for Bonnaroo 2025, which occurs from June 12-15, go on sale on Thursday, January 9, at 10 a.m. CT. Four-day general admission starts at $420; there’s also four-day GA+ for $695, four-day VIP for $999, four-day platinum for $3,995, and four-day platinum (“an exclusive experience that will bring you into the inner workings of the festival from a unique vantage point”) for $26,000. Jim Jones Defends Himself After 50 Cent & Cam’ron Reflect On Dipset Betrayal

Last month, 50 Cent joined Cam’ron for an episode of his YouTube show Talk With Flee, where they reflected on their late 2000s feud. During the interview, Cam brought up the time Fif brought out Jim Jones and Juelz Santana at a show in 2007, a stunt he called “devious.” He explained that he took it as an act of betrayal from his fellow Diplomats, though he admitted it was a wise move.

“When n****s went on stage, I was like, ‘This sh*t is spinning out [of control]. It was a checkmate moment,’” he claimed. “I said, ‘This n***a’s devious.’ But I respected it, I liked that sh*t.” Now, during his appearance on Justin Laboy’s Respectfully podcast, Jim Jones has shared his side of the story. “Them n***as be on my dick,” he began with a laugh. “Them n***as ain’t got nothing else to think about but Capo. I did a lot for them n***as in their life, ya heard? Both of them. Pause, though. Get off my dick! It’s only space on there for baby girl. Come on, man. Tugging on my sh*t like that.”

Jim Jones Tells Cam’ron & 50 Cent To Back Off

Capo continued, raising issues with Cam’ron claiming he wanted to solve Dipset’s internal problems before the show. “That n***a couldn’t pull nothing together. He couldn’t do nothing with me. He couldn’t tell me nothing, n***a,” he said. “Let’s not get this sh*t twisted. Nobody could tell me nothing. I was my own boss […] I did what I wanted to do.”

“I seen the sh*t wasn’t going right so I started doing what Jim Jones needed to do for Jim Jones ’cause the n***a that was supposed to be the don wasn’t taking care of the Capo. It started feeling like the Gotti movie, ya heard?” he also added. Jones went on, describing how Fif was able to offer him a chance to perform in front of thousands, which he simply wasn’t willing to pass up.

Jay-Z Demands The Court Sanction Tony Buzbee For “False” Rape Lawsuit

The relentless legal saga between Jay-Z and Tony Buzbee is continuing this week and the former is not playing around. According to TMZ, Hov and his attorney, Alex Spiro, are filing a motion to seek sanction for Tony Buzbee. He’s the lawyer representing the Jane Doe who is alleging that Jay-Z and Diddy both raped her at the 2000 MTV VMAs after-party when she was just 13. However, following a recent interview between the Jane Doe and NBC News, she admitted to making “mistakes” in her initial filing.

Even though she’s standing by her allegations, this has let the door swing wide open for Jay-Z to attack. He’s now taking full advantage of that with this motion to sanction Buzbee and he’s poking all sorts of holes in their “false” lawsuit. He’s highlighting the fact that the Houston lawyer did not think to retract the documents following that aforementioned sit-down.

The Roc Nation mogul then goes on to point out various alleged fallacies. For example, he focuses on where the Jane Doe says she was allegedly raped. She mentioned that it was “a large white residence with a gated U-shaped driveway. But Jay was allegedly never there, as photos of him at the Lotus nightclub in Manhattan following the award show.

Additionally, he targets her claim that her dad came to pick up following the sexual assault, but that her father stated that he doesn’t remember doing that. Jay mentions how its supposedly a 10-hour roundtrip from where she claims she was to her parents’ home in Rochester. He goes on the offensive with other key elements to the Doe’s story, but it’s clear that Jay feels that Tony Buzbee slipped up by not making any adjustments and is looking to effectively tarnish his name. Buzbee did speak to TMZ following this motion stating, “With each frantic filing, Mr. Spiro’s team reeks of desperation. Mr. Spiro and his team think the laws and rules don’t apply to them. They are flat wrong. They also think they can bully or intimidate counsel by filing meritless and frivolous pleadings full of lies and half truths… We won’t be bullied or intimidated, ever.”

State of Emergency Declared as Wildfires Spread Across Los Angeles

Los Angeles County is engulfed in wildfires, with the largest blaze roaring through the Pacific Palisades. The result is tens of thousands of people under evacuation orders.

According to CNN, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass expects the wildfire conditions to “worsen” throughout Wednesday (Jan. 8) morning. Gov. Gavin Newsome has declared a state of emergency in the area.

Scenes across the county highlight abandoned cars in between Malibu and Santa Monica, which were eventually bulldozed so emergency personnel could make it to combat the fire.

The Palisades fire is burning through areas comparable to five football fields a minute and has already scorched 2,9000 acres. The area is now under an emergency, comparing the winds to a “tornado.”

Fires are also present in the Hurst area, north of the San Fernando Valley, and another in Altadena, dubbed the Eaton fire, eviscerating 1,000 acres in hours.

Adding to the complication, over 200,000 homes and buildings do not have power.

Off-duty firefighters are being asked to report their availability to fight the fire. The call for assistance has not been conducted in this manner in two decades. Margaret Stewart, a spokesperson for the department, said, “I’ve got 19 years on and this is the first one that I’ve been involved in. It’s not something that we have to do very often.”

The origin of the fires was aided by a dry “rainy season,” designed explicitly as December through March. There has only been .01 of an inch of rain in LA since Dec. 1. The dry land and exceptionally high winds have assisted in fueling the fire.

Chloe Bailey Finally Addresses The Rampant Burna Boy Dating Rumors

Chloe Bailey and Burna Boy were looking like the next musical couple to take over 2025. Just about a week prior to the holidays, the older sister to Halle made her way out to Lagos, Nigeria. At the airport, she was supposedly greeted by some of the Afrobeats star’s team with a massive bouquet of flowers in hand. From there, his people drove her down to the “Bundle By Bundle” singer for the day ahead. Eventually, they made their way to what looked to be a downtown type of scene. Chloe was once again escorted, this time in Burna’s droptop Lamborghini.

Multiple videos and photos surfaced from their time at a night club where they shared some dances, held hands, etc. However, this wasn’t just a one-night affair. Just a day later more clips made their way onto social media at an open-air type of vibe. Chloe Bailey got a little more comfortable around Burna Boy, allowing herself to be wrapped in his arms as they soaked up the night’s events. However, since December 17, not much has been talked about in regard to their relationship status.

There was some slight drama with folks accusing Stefflon Don, an ex of Burna’s, of resurfacing an old video in which he gifted her a Rolls-Royce. Outside of that, Chloe and Burna have remained quiet for weeks. However, that is until she made her way onto The Breakfast Club for an interview. She’s one of a few hip-hop/hip-hop adjacent artists to be nominated at the NAACP Awards and because of this she will be in attendance.

That led to Loren Lorosa trying to get Chloe to spill the tea about Burna. She first started out by working it into a NAACP question asking, “Speaking of seeing, are you bringing a date to the NAACP Awards?” “My god mom and my manager,” Chloe slyly replied. “So we ain’t gonna see no more Burna Boy?” Lauren then asked back. “You’ll have to ask him,” the “Have Mercy” singer said. Lauren then pivoted to the escape to Nigeria, however, instead of answering any specifics of how if there was anything there with Burna, she talked about the food and the clubs and that she just “had a great time.” For anyone craving a direct answer, we are sorry to disappoint you.
