SOURCE SPORTS: Could Lindor And Judge Bring The NL And AL MVP Trophies To The Big Apple?

Screenshot 2024 09 13 at 8.40.05 AM

Ever since the Baseball Writers Association of America started casting votes for the Kenesaw Landis AL/NL Most Valuable Player Awards in 1931, the same city has claimed the coveted titles only 12 times, with New York players taking it home over half of those occasions. In 2024, for the first time in almost 70 years, NYC could possibly gloat about having both of the best baseball players in Major League Baseball.

The Big Apple hasn’t welcomed both MVPs home since 1956 when Mickey Mantle won MVP for the AL and Dodgers’ Don Newcombe brought it back to Brooklyn. Only a year prior, Yanks HOF catcher Yogi Berra took the American League trophy. At the same time, Brooklyn’s Roy Campanella won the NL MVP in his last season before he was left paralyzed after a tragic car accident. In ’54, it was Yogi Berra again. Willie Mays (Giants), Berra and Campanella took their first MVPs twin titles in 1951, Joe DiMaggio and Dolph Camilli of the Dodgers won both MVPs a decade earlier(1941), while the Yankees legend Lou Gehrig and NY Giants’ Carl Hubbell were the first to bring both AL and NL Most Valuable Player titles back to NYC in 1936. Lindor and Judge may just have the magic to make it happen here once again.

No one can ignore the wave that the Mets have been riding, given their eight-game winning streak, which locked in their Wild Card spot and those feats would have been unattainable without superstar shortstop Francisco Lindor and his red hot appearances at the plate. The 30-year-old belted nine of his 31 HRs of this season were in those last eight outings, including two in the same game against the Padres with one of those dingers being a grand slam. As the Mets’ ironman, Lindor has not missed a game this season and only missed three games since suffering an oblique injury during his rookie season in 2021. Sure to surpass 30 stolen bags before the end of September, there’s no question why Lindor is a close second in the NL MVP rankings., this year.

Bronx Bombers’ right fielder Aaron Judge has posted unequaled stats this season while helping the Yanks lead the helm in the AL East, including the most home runs in MLB(51), only to be trailed by the number one NL MVP contender, Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani. #99 has the 3rd highest batting average in the league(.319), only behind Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Royals’ Bobby Witt Jr., who have played more games and had more plate appearances than Judge in 2024. Judge also leads the league in RBIs(126), forcing teams to deliberately attempt to keep him from making contact with the ball, which is why he also leads the league in walks.

As with anything in baseball and life, there is no such thing as a sure thing. Many critics believe that Lindor batting under .300 is a no for an MVP. However, despite the entire baseball world watching Ohtani on his road to 50/50, Lindor’s only MVP competition still hasn’t broken the .300 mark either. Even Judge, with his phenomenal hitting feats, still ties Oakland’s Brent Rooker with the most Ks in the league(156). Additionally, Judge’s bat has been going cold lately, with no HRs in his last 13 games since the Home Run Derby, which has the Yankees’ record split 13-12 in their last 25 games.

Snoop Dogg’s Blunt Rolling Skills Were Challenged By Kai Cenat, But He Blew It Out Of The Water

According to people online, Snoop Dogg is the unofficial patron saint of marijuana. Although the “Gin & Juice” rapper has pretended to give up the sticky icky for a marketing campaign and even volunteered to temporarily turn his back on it for the 2024 Summer Olympics, Snoop Dogg and Mary Jane will never truly part.

Still, streamer Kai Cenat wanted to test the validity of these claims. In a video recorded backstage at the 2024 VMAs (viewable here), Kai challenged Snoop Dogg to see how quickly he could roll a blunt.

“Snoop, how fast can you roll up a blunt,” asked Kai.

Without hesitation, Snoop replied: “Before this song ends.”

The song in question was Shirley Murdock’s beloved 1985 single, “As We Lay.”

Although neither opted to begin an official timer, sure enough before the ballad could end Snoop completed the mission, all while featuring his Death Row Cannabis line. Back in 2019, Snoop Dogg revealed that he actually hired a full-time blunt roller. According to him, she’s already rolled about half a million marijuana cigarettes during her tenure.

But don’t get it twisted, with Snoop catching his first high in the 1970s and maintaining a habit of on average 81 blunts a day, he proved to Kai Cenat that he is never to be questioned again.

‘It Broke Me,’ Lil Wayne Says In His Somber Video About Not Being Chosen For The 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show

Earlier this year, Lil Wayne expressed that he really, really wanted to play the Super Bowl Halftime Show for 2025, considering it would be on his home turf in New Orleans. A few days ago, though, it was revealed that it was Kendrick Lamar who was chosen for the coveted gig.

Days later, Wayne has spoken up, and he’s heartbroken.

Wayne shared a video this morning (September 13). In it, he appears downtrodden as he speaks, saying:

“First of all, I want to say forgive me for the delay. […] I had to get strength enough to do this without breaking.

I’m gonna say thank you to every voice, every opinion, all the care, all the love and the support out there. Your words turned into arms and held me up when I tried to fall back.

That hurt. It hurt a lot. You know what I’m talking about. It hurt a whole lot. I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown, and for automatically mentally putting myself in that position like somebody told me that was my position. So I blame myself for that. But I thought that was nothing better than that spot and that stage and that platform in my city, and so it hurt. It hurt a whole lot.

[But] y’all are f*cking amazing. It made me feel like sh*t, not getting this opportunity, and when I felt like sh*t, you guys reminded me that I ain’t sh*t without y’all… and that’s an amazing reality.

So, like I said, it broke me and I’m just trying to put me back together. But my God, have you all helped me. Thanks to all of my peers, my friends, my family, my homies on the sports television, and everybody repping me. I really appreciate that, I really do. I feel like I let all of y’all down by not getting that opportunity, but I’m working on me and I’m working. So, thank you.”

Cam’ron Takes Trolling To New Heights With Insane Shannon Sharpe Sex Tape Parody

Shannon Sharpe isn’t going to live down this sex tape debacle for quite some time. Right now, it’s at its peak meme status with loads of people online trolling the ex-NFL star in numerous ways. However, Cam’ron is really going the distance with it by staging his own Shannon Sharpe “sex tape”. According to HipHopDX, the New York rapper and talk show host instead shared it to the Instagram feed and while it’s merciless, it’s also pure comedy. Instead of taking place at his home, Cam’ron decides to up the ante by trying to perform multiple acts while driving.

As the video goes on, things get increasingly more unrealistic, so buckle up (no pun intended). Cam’ron starts off with pretending to receive oral. During this portion you can hear him say things like “suck it” and “watch your teeth b****”. Making all of this even more hysterical is the number of times he looks back at his phone laying down on the floor in the backseat. After that, Cam’ron asks the woman he’s with to “get on top while I drive”. “She does” and while “doing the deed”, the Dipset MC cleverly and hilariously says, “That’s how I drive my b****es crazy”.

This all going on while Killa Cam is operating the pedals, and the woman is controlling the steering wheel. Then, he wraps things up with “sucking milk from her breasts” before “finishing”. Finally, after their wild experience, Cam turns to phone and is “shocked” to learn that he was on IG Live. “Oh s***, the phone on! I’m on Live! Let me turn this s*** off”. He also kicked Shannon Sharpe while he’s down, captioning the post, “My bad I was hacked y’all 😂😂😂”.

What are your thoughts on Cam’ron filming a parody of Shannon Sharpe’s accidental sex tape? Do you think the latter is going to say something on Nightcap? Is this one of the funniest videos you have seen this year? Are you buying that Shannon called it an accident? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Rick Ross Reflects On Fight With Drake Fans And Explains Why He Lost

Rick Ross was Yung Miami’s latest guest on the Caresha Please podcast, and they had a whole lot of stuff to discuss. Of course, they couldn’t go long without referencing the massive Drake beef that took place this year, as well as The Biggest Boss’ run-in with OVO die-hards in Canada. For those unaware, a group of Drizzy fans confronted Ross at a Vancouver festival after he played Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” resulting in a mini-brawl between the two entourages. The former City Girl asked Rozay about his claim that no one punched him despite footage showing otherwise, and he explained how the altercation could’ve been much worse for his opponents.

“You saw a video of what?” Rick Ross responded to Yung Miami’s question about the alleged sucker punch. “Like I said, Rozay felt like a drink was [thrown]. ‘Cause once I – ‘Get back, p***y n***as!’ That whole s**t cleared up.” He ran away after the punch during this incident in which various of his colleagues got a nasty beating. But the Maybach Music Group mogul elaborated on why this would’ve turned out much differently if he had some more of his usual backup.

The discussion around the Vancouver fight begins at around the 39:40-minute mark.

“All my homies that traveled with me, them n***as couldn’t come in ’cause of their felonies,” Rick Ross stated. “If I would’ve just had two or three more of my homies with me, we would’ve stripped them n***as out their drawers and socks.” He clarified that his assistant and his DJ (whom he called his “little homies”) were the only ones there to accompany and assist him, as well as one security guard.

“We got our paper, we got to the jet and, as a matter of fact, we went and had some Wingstop, so that was light work,” Rick Ross continued. “I ain’t even tripping ’cause like, I told them, ‘Y’all n***as did that like a G. Everybody got to the crib. That’s what it’s about.’ […] We had a conversation. ‘Let’s get back to the money.’ All my homies that usually travel with me, them the n***as that was upset. They was more upset than us.”

Wyclef Jean Responds To Donald Trump’s Claim That Haitian Immigrants Are Eating Pets

The first (and potentially only) debate between Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris took place on September 10. The debate, being the first for Harris since she replaced president Joe Biden as the Democratic Party’s nominee, was, unsurprisingly, a spectacle. One thing Trump said that stood out to viewers at home was when he claimed that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, were eating residents’ pets. There is no evidence to support that claim. Wyclef Jean, a native of Haiti, was taken aback by Trump’s assertion.

In a statement to TMZ, Wyclef gave his thoughts on the former president’s comments, discussing the opportunities moving to the United States gave him. “I will be forever grateful for my family’s life, for having a fair chance to live what is called the ‘American Dream,’” he said. “One of our greatest assets in America is that we are a country of immigrants. I speak from the heart when I say, Haitian people living in the U.S. are good neighbors and good people. We care about humanity. We care about our neighbors.”

Wyclef Jean Responds To Donald Trump’s Comments On Haitian Immigrants

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – SEPTEMBER 29: Wyclef Jean performs at The Toy Foundation’s TOTY Awards at Cipriani 42nd Street on September 29, 2023 in New York City. (Photo by Roy Rochlin/Getty Images for The Toy Foundation)

“On behalf of Haitian Americans, I ask that we stop these racist messages and accusations. Put our hands out in peace and say thanks for being my neighbor,” he continued. “We need to respect one another and vote based on policies and facts, not crazy talk. And we need to shake hands with one another and be thankful we are part of an America for all.”

Trump’s comment was one of many slips in a debate performance that some of the most prominent names in conservative politics panned. He often changed the topic, bringing it back to immigration multiple times even when immigration was not the topic of discussion. He blamed Biden and Nancy Pelosi for the insurrection on January 6, 2021. By the end of the night, he was clearly rattled, a contrast to the more measured approach VP Harris took. Wyclef Jean is the latest celebrity to call for unity between Americans. Wyclef has also been an advocate for his birthplace for his entire career. He even co-produced the 2010 remake of “We Are The World.” Sales from that track went to Haiti after a devastating earthquake. Haiti matters to Wyclef. It is unsurprising that he released such a statement against the racist rhetoric peddled by Trump on Tuesday.
