Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign Team Up With Lil Wayne For “Lifestyle,” Featuring Bars About Taylor Swift

Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign have finally released their highly-anticipated second collaborative album, Vultures 2. One track that’s causing waves on social media is the eighth song, “Lifestyle,” which features an appearance from Lil Wayne. With his verse, Wayne trolls Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. “Ice up in my veins, old flames tryna melt me / I twist my Taylor spliffs tight at the end like Travis Kelce,” he raps. The bars are noteworthy considering West and Swift’s longstanding feud. Swift previously mentioned Kim Kardashian and West in an interview with TIME Magazine, in 2023, for the publication’s Person of the Year piece.

“Make no mistake—my career was taken away from me,” Swift remarked, referring to Kardashian leaking her and West’s phone call over the song “Famous.” “You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar.” Wayne is one of several high-profile artists with appearances on the project. On other tracks, Don Toliver, Playboi Carti, Kodak Black, Future, Young Thug, and many more rappers all contribute. Be on the lookout for further updates on Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign as well as Vultures 2 on HotNewHipHop. Check out “Lifestyle” below.

Kali Uchis has being enjoying mommy life alongside her partner and fellow musician Don Toliver. Back in March, the couple welcomed their baby boy into the world.

In June, Kali Uchis treated supporters to “Never Be Yours,” an oldie but goodie from the vault. But next week, the “Labios Mordido” singer is set to drop a new full musical offering. On Instagram, Kali Uchis announced her next album, Orquídeas Parte 2, along with its official release date.

“Orquídeas Parte 2 next Friday 8/9 💋,” she wrote.

The forthcoming body of work is the follow-up to Kali Uchis’ critically acclaimed, album Orquídeas, that hit streaming platforms in January.

The second half of the post’s caption provided a nugget of information about what fans should expect. “Young, Rich & In Love – The Kaytranada version,” she wrote. In the clip, followers got a taste of the infectious remix.

But don’t for a second think Orquídeas Parte 2 is just a bunch of electronic round-ups of past releases. In the comment section, fans asked for clarity about the upcoming project’s sound.

“Wait, is this gonna be various remixes or just this song,” asked a follower.

“This remix and some brand-new songs, hunny,” replied Kali Uchis.

DJ Akademiks Wants Lupe Fiasco To Start A Battle With Kendrick Lamar

DJ Akademiks is calling on any rapper with the skillset to take down Kendrick Lamar to step up and challenge the iconic Compton rapper. He made the comments while reacting to Big Sean’s recent appearance on Charlamagne Tha God’s new podcast, Out of Context. Sean revealed during the interview that he almost had a beef with Lamar following the release of a leaked version of “Element.” On the track, Lamar had dissed Sean but quickly called him up to apologize.

“Yo, I’m at the point—even y’all say Drake ain’t win— I’m rooting for any n***a that could f*ck Kendrick up! I’m tired of this sh*t!” Akademiks yelled while streaming. “He got rappers sounding like h*es! N****s are apologizing, scrolling through their text messages unsending what is this n***a doing? Y’all got the same 24 hours in a day why can’t y’all squabble with this little midget, what the f**k?!?!” From there, he suggested Lupe Fiasco needs to take down Lamar.

Akademiks’ suggestion comes after Fiasco recently clarified that he doesn’t have any issues with Lamar during a conversation with Joe Budden on X (formerly Twitter) Spaces. “I do not have a problem,” he claimed. “No matter what was said in the past, what you think happened, what happened, what didn’t happen. I personally and professionally do not have a problem with my brother-in-arms Kendrick Lamar.” Fiasco previously sparked rumors about a hatred for Lamar by siding with Drake in their viral feud.

DJ Mustard’s New Album Only Sells 18,000 Units Then He Randomly Decides to Blame Drake Calling Him “the Malcolm x of white people”

Screen Shot 2024 08 04 at 2.40.00 PM

You know the saying, when you point a finger you have three more pointing back at you. Well let’s unpack that shall we … DJ Mustard just dropped a full project. Ya’ll know he produced “Not Like Us,” the most impactful diss record in years. He should be riding high, right? Maybe not …

Basically the release was a dud. Sorry, it was. 18,000 units in a week. For context, Drake and 21 Savage did 400,000 units on the “For All the Dogs” release, in the first week.

But we get it. We got it. Bad sales in the streaming era happen. But Mustard, instead of embracing the “L” or thinking of reasons why it happened that make sense, went scorched earth on um, white supremacy and get this, Drake. Yes, the “Family Matters” emcee got dragged into the chat after the ugly numbers came out on “Faith Of A Mustard Seed.” Good title btw.

Anyway, Mustard attributed his sales or lack their of to Drake, DJ Akademiks, and Gordo SZN. The latter dropped a pretty cool dance album that featured Drake on two records. So of course gotta blame him too.

Get this, Mustard’s album, dropped on July 26 and after the meteoric success of “Not Like Us,” the numbers were significantly lower than anticipated.

Okay, maybe his frustration got the better of him, but Mustard took to X (yes we gotta remind ya’ll that’s twitter every time lol) on August 2 to weirdly attribute his poor sales to aforementioned factors. Not his marketing. Rollout. Lack of support from influential friends, like the Compton artist who he gave the biggest record of his career. Nah none of that came out in his attacks. Just Drake and company. Oh, and white folks. White supremacy to be exact. Can’t make this stuff up but here’s what he posted:

“Drake is the Malcolm X of white people [laughing emoji] and @Akademiks make sure you post @GordoSZN first week since drake thought he did a thing with making him drop on the same day as me [laughing emoji],” Mustard posted.

Screen Shot 2024 08 04 at 2.18.17 PM

Again, he further claimed, “Album sales are a form of white supremacy.”

Screen Shot 2024 08 04 at 2.18.39 PM

This is all wild. Social media is heck of a world and not everyone should be tweeting especailly when they are emotional. In our respectful opinion.

We’re shaking our collective heads, and despite these stretch of assertions, there’s been no concrete evidence the poor sales are linked to Drake, Akademiks, or Gordo SZN, creating any deliberate sabotage of Mustard’s album release. Wait, did Mustard think Drake and Gordo’s rollout should coordinate with his drop? Huh? We’re confused.

Check this out, ”Faith Of A Mustard Seed” marks Mustard’s fourth studio album, featuring collaborations with artists like Kirk Franklin, Lil Yachty, 42 Dugg, and Vince Staples.

The album follows his 2019 project, “Perfect Ten”. In an earlier interview with Billboard, Mustard had expressed confidence in his album’s rollout, citing Kendrick Lamar’s involvement as a pivotal element. Common sense would suggest K Dot being in the mix energy wise, would be a no brainer to invigorate sales. Guess not.

Hold up, full stop, Mustard praised his album sales back in 2019 but this time around his poor sales are “white supremacy” and Drake is “Malcolm X of white people.” Hilarious.

IMG E868BE8545E1 1

Here are Mustard’s thoughts on how he was going to roll out his new project:

“I keep saying it and I can’t say it enough — it’s gotta be God,” Mustard told Billboard. “What am I gonna do to get myself back hot? … How are we gonna spark to where people are like, ‘I wanna hear Mustard again.’ … Then the song came out. There’s my rollout.”

But here we are. 18,000 units and it gotta be Drake and racist institutions. Look we believe those institutions certainly exist but maybe a post from Kendrick would have helped or an aggressive marketing plan. Maybe we’re trippin. Anyway, what do ya’ll think?

Jhene Aiko & Khalid Set The Tone Of Our “R&B Season” Playlist Update

As summer reaches its peak and fall draws closer, our R&B Season playlist only continues to heat up. Last week, we saw some solid releases from various fan favorites of the genre. Jhene Aiko leads the pack with all the positive vibes, crooning about finding the inner strength and wisdom to let go of a relationship that’s run its course on “guidance.” She channels her guiding light on the ethereal track, which could best be described as a self-love anthem, delivering optimistic lyrics about freedom, hope, and embracing a new season of one’s life. The song also arrived alongside an equally dreamy piano-only version.

Next up on our R&B Season playlist is Khalid, who unveiled his third studio album Sincere on Friday. The hitmaker admits that the project’s been a long time coming, and fans agree that it was certainly worth the wait. He enters our playlist with his track “Heatstroke,” which is a considerable departure from Aiko’s entry.

The melancholy cut embodies the end of summer and sees Khalid compare the changing of seasons to a changing relationship. He sings about watching a romance come to a close, while still feeling hopeful that they can turn things around. It’s certainly a standout on the album and showcases the creative maturity he aimed for with this latest release.

Finally, Kehlani teamed up with Jordan Adetunji for a remix of his hit track, “Kehlani.” Considering that the song was based on her, it’s only fitting that she hopped on, and listeners aren’t disappointed. She delivers the same kind of “boss” energy that inspired the original single, making for a fun addition to one of the hottest songs of the summer. What do you think of our latest R&B Season playlist entries? What was your favorite release of the week? Big Sean Says Kendrick Lamar Actually Apologized Following Leaked Diss

image

J. Cole apology part 2 or is Big Sean’s revelation a completely different scenario? We’ll let you decide.

So recently the Detroit rapper disclosed that Kendrick Lamar actually pulled a Cole, and apologized to him for dissing him in a leaked song. Uh, huh … Double standard much? Let’s continue …

Big Sean discussed this revelation with Charlamagne Tha God on his show, “Out of Context”. The conversation hit a bunch of topics, including the rumored tension between Sean and Lamar. Yes, that’s a thing if you been paying attention.

So Charlamagne being the investigative journalist that he tries to be, brought up Sean’s upcoming album “Better Me Than U” and the song “Apologize,” where Sean addresses the claim that he only dates singers. This claim mirrors a line from Lamar’s original version of “Element,” which leaked in 2019 and again this year. In the leaked track, Lamar raps, “You Finally Famous for who you date, not how you rhyme/Cute a”” bars get your subliminals up.”

Get this, when asked how he felt about the leaked track, Sean revealed he had a “whole thing prepared” in case a beef with Lamar escalated. He then recounted the timeline of their interactions, starting with his 2016 track “No More Interviews.” Though fans speculated that the song took shots at Lamar, Sean clarified that it wasn’t directed at him specifically. We got it, we get it.

“I definitely was not running from or ducking no type smoke at all. So when I heard that there might be some remnants of something, I did have something prepared, I’m not gonna lie,” Sean said. “Kendrick has been at my house. Me and him are cool by the way. He’s invited me to his mom’s house before…We were cooler back then, let me say that…I don’t talk to him.”

Okay, way back in 2017, Lamar released “The Heart Part 4,” which some fans thought was aimed at Sean. Seeking clarity, Sean called Top Dawg and was assured it wasn’t about him. However, the narrative of a feud persisted, partly fueled by Joe Budden’s commentary. Sean later learned from Dave Free that “The Heart Part IV” was “for anyone.” But when the original version of “Element” leaked, Sean felt betrayed.

“I’m like, ‘Damn ni””a, y’all motherf””kers said it wasn’t sh”t and it was something. So you got me looking crazy,’” Sean said. Despite his initial anger, he noted that Lamar changed the bar in the final version, which suggested to Sean that Lamar didn’t see it as a real issue.

After Nipsey Hussle’s death, rest in power, Sean and Lamar had a conversation where Lamar apologized for the diss. During this discussion, Lamar also expressed appreciation for the shout-out on Sean’s track “Deep Reverence,” which featured Hussle. That was a banger, by the way.

When Charlamagne asked if Sean was relieved he never clashed with Lamar, Sean replied with a smirk, “I guess we’ll never know,” referencing Lamar’s previous feud with Drake.

Strategically, Big Sean played it off perfectly. He may not have the cultural wave that Dot has behind him, but bar for bar, he would definitely hold his own in any beef with any rapper. We said it.
