The celebration included a meet-and-greet with Mickey Mouse, adding an extra touch of magic to Win’s birthday. The family spent the rest of the day exploring iconic attractions, including the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which quickly became a highlight of their visit.

Kevin Hart’s Former Assistant Seeks Dismissal from Extortion Lawsuit

Back in January, comedian Kevin Hart filed a lawsuit against his former personal assistant, Miesha Shakes, and gossip vlogger Tasha K, accusing them of attempting to extort him. Now, Shakes is fighting back, seeking dismissal from the lawsuit.

In Touch reports that Miesha Shakes has asked a Los Angeles judge to remove her from the bombshell civil extortion case. According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Shakes denies all allegations of wrongdoing brought against her by Hart, 45.

Last year, Hart sued Shakes over an interview she did with YouTuber Tasha K. He claimed that Shakes made false statements and disclosed information she learned during her employment with him, which violated a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) she signed after leaving her position. Shakes worked for Hart from 2017 to 2020.

Shakes’ legal team argued that Hart “failed to plead specifically which statements they contend are false and defamatory or which facts [he] contends are true and an invasion of privacy.” They also stated that Hart’s claims are barred “because the statements challenged as false and defamatory, to the extent they can be determined, are substantially true.”

Moreover, Shakes asserted that her statements were not defamatory and “constitute expressions of protection opinion.” She claimed she did not act with malice and did not cause Hart any damage.

Regarding the NDA, Shakes’ lawyer argued that the contract was “invalid/illegal and cannot be enforced based on mental or physical incapacity which prevented [Miesha] from having the legal capacity to enter into or understand the alleged contract(s).”

Charles Barkley Issues Strong Statement On TNT Losing NBA Broadcasting Rights

The NBA recently announced plans to sign a new TV rights contract with Amazon as part of their media rights negotiations. This means that TNT will be the network losing their rights to broadcast games, which they’ve held since 1989. Charles Barkley, co-star of the award-winning Inside The NBA, shared a statement regarding the NBA’s media rights negotiations with TNT. He made his disappointment in how things went very clear.

“Clearly, the NBA has wanted to break up with us from the beginning. I’m not sure TNT ever had a chance. TNT matched the money, but the league knows Amazon and these tech companies are the only ones willing to pay for the rights when they double in the future. The NBA didn’t want to piss them off,” said Barkley in his statement, shared by Bleacher Report. “It’s a sad day when owners and commissioners choose money over the fans,” he added. Barkley has often stressed that the worst aspect of Warner Bros. Discovery (TNT’s parent company) losing its NBA rights is that it immediately puts many people out of work. He, like many fans, believes it’s unfair for people to suffer because of two multi-billion dollar businesses fighting each other.

Earlier Friday, TNT announced that they planned to take legal action against the NBA. They referred to the NBA’s rejection of their offer “unjustified,” adding that they believe keeping NBA coverage on TNT is in the best interest of fans. Charles Barkley told The Athletic that he hoped TNT decided not to pursue a lawsuit. “If you have to sue somebody to stay in a relationship, do you think that is a healthy relationship?” Barkley also previously announced that he intended to retire from television at the end of the 2024-25 season. He has been on the air since 2000, joining TNT after retiring from a Hall of Fame basketball career. However, he sounded less committed to those original comments when his money came into question.

Barkley, who is in the third year of a 10-year contract worth $210 million, could become a free agent if Warner Bros. Discovery fails to honor the full terms of his deal. “TNT Sports has to come to me ASAP and they have to guarantee my whole thing or they can offer me a pay cut, which there is no chance of that happening and I’ll be [a] free agent,” Barkley told The Athletic. “My thing was, ‘Wait, y’all f*cked up, I didn’t f*ck up, why do I have to take a pay cut?’” If TNT loses rights to the NBA, Inside the NBA will cease to exist in its current form. It would be a bleak ending to one of the most beloved sports shows of all time.

Ice Spice Reveals She & Nicki Minaj Aren’t “The Closest” After Leaked Texts Scandal

It’s no secret that Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj are a match made in heaven musically, but according to the “Phat Butt” rapper, they’re not exactly the best of friends when they aren’t collaborating. During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Ice Spice opened up and her and Nicki’s bond. She said that while they’re not on bad terms, they’re not the closest either, despite making multiple hits together.

“We don’t have the closest relationship, you know? But we’re definitely good,” she explained. “We’re mutuals. We had smash records together. I love us together. I think the world does too.” Ice Spice continued, sharing her thoughts on some text messages leaked by an ex-friend of hers, Baby Storme. In the texts, Ice Spice seemingly expressed her frustrations with Nicki, calling her “ungrateful and delusional.”

She appeared to confirm that these were real in her chat with the outlet, though she said this doesn’t change her overall feelings towards Nicki. “I don’t really think she cares about sh*t like that coming from a random girl,” she explained. “But what I said in those texts was just in a moment of frustration around contract negotiations. I could have chose different words. But at the end of the day, regardless of how I felt in that moment, [Nicki] is still somebody I respect as an artist, and I’m always going to admire everything she’s done for me and the culture.”

Do yall offer summer school? Night school?”, she questioned.

A lot of her fans were in agreeance with the Pink Friday 2 artist. One Barb writes, “Girl I just stream blessings and continue moving forward”. “I’m too damn grown now & it’s kicking my behind slowly but surely. She appeared to be going through it at the time, telling interviewers “F*** love” when asked about her favorite love song and declaring that she was single. A few weeks later, Druski was asked about the split at the BET Awards. He opted not to say much.

During a recent appearance on the Big Tigger Morning Show, however, the comedian finally opened up about the breakup. “Yeah, I’m single, man,” he revealed. “God blesses you sometimes with situations. It’s a learning situation. That’s what it’s all about.” Druski continued, explaining that he simply may not have been ready for the relationship and all that it came with.

HBO has unveiled the official trailer for “City of God: The Fight Rages On”, a highly anticipated sequel series to the acclaimed 2002 Brazilian film “City of God.”

Full stop, ya’ll remember the movie “City of God.” The film was dark, thrilling and gave an elevated, dramatized look into the gritty life within the Brazilian favelas.

Some consider “City of God” a cinematic masterpiece. Let that sit there. 

Get this, HBO is setting the six-episode series is set twenty years after the events of the original film and brings back beloved characters like Rocket (Wilson), Berenice, Bradock, Cinthia, Barbantinho, and Melonhead. The series will use flashbacks, featuring excerpts from the original film, to delve into the memories and emotional journeys of the protagonists.

Here’s the description from HBO:

CITY OF GOD: THE FIGHT RAGES ON is an adapted continuation of the literary work of Paulo Lins and will tell the story of its characters taking as a starting point the work of the photographer Buscapé. The plot unfolds  in the early 2000s when the release of a young drug dealer from prison puts Cidade de Deus back into dispute. Residents find themselves trapped between drug traffickers, militias and public authorities, but the need to escape this cycle makes the community unite to face the oppressor.

Let’s get into the cast that includes returning actors Alexandre Rodrigues, Roberta Rodrigues, Thiago Martins, Sabrina Rosa, Kiko Marques, Edson Oliveira, and newcomers Andréia Horta, Marcos Palmeira, Eli Ferreira, Luellem de Castro, Jefferson Brasil, Otávio Linhares, Rafael Lozano, Leandro Daniel, and Luiz Bertazzo. It also features debuting talents from Rio de Janeiro communities like Cidade de Deus, Vidigal, and Mangueira.

Behind the camera the series is produced by O2 Filmes, “City of God: The Fight Rages On” is directed by Aly Muritiba, who also co-writes the series with Sérgio Machado, Renata Di Carmo, Armando Praça, Estevão Ribeiro, and Rodrigo Felha. Bruno Costa serves as the second director, with Mariano Cesar, Anouk Aaron, and Mônica Albuquerque as executive producers for Warner Bros. Discovery.

“City of God: The Fight Rages On” is on deck to premiere on Sunday, August 25, at 8 p.m. on HBO Latino and will also be available for streaming on Max.

Flavor Flav Hypes Up US Women’s Water Polo Hopes at Fourth Gold Medal

Flavor Flav and Olympic women’s water polo – was not on our bingo card, but the notion is making waves at the Games. The 65-year-old rapper from Public Enemy fame, has taken on the role of official hype man for the U.S. water polo teams after three-time gold medalist Maggie Steffens reached out on social media seeking financial support, highlighting the fact that many Olympians self-fund their journeys.

The press conference moderator introduced Flav with, “Welcome to an Olympics first: A Flavor Flav press conference.” If you’re not laughing at that, then something’s wrong.

But more importantly, Steffens reflected on her decision to seek public support: 

“I’ve been really empowered by other women in sports to use your voice, which can be a little scary at times,” she said. “I was calling for people to know my teammates and encouraging them to follow some of the more niche sports this Olympics, especially women’s sports. And if it’s not water polo, rugby or fencing, just to give those women, those teams, a chance.”

“Flavor Flav saw that and something about it sparked his interest,” Steffens went on to say. “He has really opened the door for people to learn about our team and different communities, different people who would have never heard of water polo. And that’s exactly what sports like us need. He’s been really great at shining any light back on us, and we look forward to having him here in Paris and just keeping that positive energy going.”

Get this intro, on Friday morning, Flav—born William Jonathan Drayton Jr.—introduced himself to reporters with his usual flair, saying, “This is an honor, and this is a pleasure and a perfect measure − and I’m gonna keep this memory as a perfect treasure.”

As you might think, Flav has no prior connection to water polo, but he expressed his athletic background: “Back in the day, growing up, I was one hell of an athlete,” he claimed, having played neighborhood baseball, basketball, and football. Fact-checking for this statement was unavailable. Okay, hmm, we will take his word for it. 

“I recently got in the pool and got to learn how difficult that water polo is,” said Flav, who donned a Team USA jersey, water polo cap, and his signature clock necklace (in a waterproof version). “I was in the water for seven minutes, treading water for seven minutes, boy that was the hardest seven minutes of my life! But the girls said I did good.”

Listen, he even scored a goal on Ashleigh Johnson, widely regarded as the best water polo goalie in the world. I mean one, that’s crazy and you gotta love it. 

Admitting he knew little about water polo before becoming a sponsor, Flav has since signed a five-year contract with U.S. water polo. Although details of the agreement remain undisclosed, he is fully committed. Flav is dedicated to promoting the team beyond the Olympics. “Right now I count three stars on my cap,” he said, referencing the U.S. women’s last three gold medals. “I want to see a fourth.”

Coordinated Arson Attacks Hit French Railways Right Before Paris Olympics Opening Ceremonies

Whelp, the 2024 Paris Olympics is starting off, well, in flames. In a series of coordinated arson attacks early Friday, France’s sophisticated high-speed rail network was targeted. The arson caused massive disruptions for about 800,000 travelers heading to Paris, including athletes en route to the Olympic Games’ opening ceremony. In other words, this a big deal.

The fires, discovered before dawn, disrupted three major lines. Another attempt in Vergigny in the south was held off by brave rail agents who managed to scare off the suspects.

Get this, although this cause serious chaos, thankfully there were no injuries reported. 

Luckily, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo assured that the damage would not impede the ceremony, where 7,000 Olympic athletes were scheduled to sail down the Seine past landmarks like Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Louvre Museum, and the Musee d’Orsay. 

Authorities have not publicly speculated on the perpetrators’ identities or motives, nor have they confirmed any direct link to the Olympics. 

The CEO of SNCF, the national railway company, Jean-Pierre Farandou, noted that the attacks were designed to maximize disruption. He said: 

“The places were especially chosen to have the most serious impact, since each fire cut off two lines.” He estimated the number of affected travelers at 800,000, adding, “The evidence indicates a desire to seriously harm the French people.”

As expected, Paris prosecutors have already launched a national investigation. Those held responsible could receive prison sentences up to 20 years.

French Transport Minister Patrice Vergriete announced that train traffic had begun to resume in the afternoon. Most trains should be operational by Saturday.
