50 Cent Puts Daphne Joy On Blast Following Rape & Abuse Allegations

Earlier this week, it was revealed that the mother of 50 Cent’s son Sire, Daphne Joy, is named in Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones’ lawsuit against Diddy. He accuses the actress of accepting money from the Bad Boy Records mogul monthly in exchange for sex work, which she denies. As the revelation started to gain traction online, 50 Cent was quick to weigh in, putting her on blast in various social media posts. He’s even now seeking sole custody of their 12-year-old.

Daphne Joy addressed the allegations, and Fif’s response to them, in a now-deleted Instagram Story last night. In her post, she revealed that she plans to take legal action against Lil Rod for his claims. She also slammed her ex for clowning her on social media. According to Joy, instead of focusing on what she’s accused of, they should focus on 50 Cent’s alleged crimes.

“Let’s put the real focus on your true evil actions of raping me and physically abusing me,” she wrote. “You have permanently damaged the last hope I had for you as a father to preserve our family with these last and final false claims made against me.” Despite Joy’s message, 50 Cent denies all of her accusations, and has persisted by posting various additional digs today.

“Good morning people let’s focus on our goals and get some work done. Let’s work hard to contribute to world being a better place. All the work we do counts, even you little sex workers,” he captioned one Instagram post today. “Whistle while you work guys, that’s my theme for today. I made all this money and I’m practicing abstinence, I don’t want a little sex worker,” he captioned another recent post.

Ice Spice Will Hit New York City In A Super-Sized Collaboration With Alexander Wang

Earlier this month, fashion brand Alexander Wang announced their new collaboration with Ice Spice. The breakthrough rapper had a viral moment last year during her appearance at the MET Gala. And now she’s once again dipping her toes into fashion by serving as an ambassador for the brand. But now according to HipHopDX they’ve announced the next step in their collaboration and it’s a big one. According to a new press release, they’re hitting NYC with an impossible to ignore promotion next month.

“Starting in Times Square, a super-sized inflatable of Ice Spice will drive around NYC for the whole day, offering city-dwellers a look at Alexander Wang’s latest collection and campaign. The inflatable will be driven throughout the city, hitting up high-foot traffic areas for all to see,” their press release reads. It’s reportedly due to get underway on April 6. The ambition mirrors what Spice herself was seeking in her statement earlier this month. “As an artist, I’m always challenging myself on how I can contribute to culture in a way that drives things forward, and Alexander Wang is a great vehicle for that with this incredibly bold and global campaign,” she said. Check out their collaboration announcement below.

Earlier this week, Ice Spice became the most recent celeb to appear on Hot Ones. The famous interview show puts celebs to the test while they’re forced to taste test increasingly hot wings. While Spice held up admirably, she eventually caved to the heat and had to tap out.

Earlier this month, Ice Spice stepped out wearing a Dolce look at the Oscars. Some fans criticized the look for being predictable or plain, but Spice took to twitter to clap back at the haters shortly after. What do you think of Ice Spice teaming up with Alexander Wang? Do you think driving a giant version of the rapper around New York is a good way to promote the new line? Let us know in the comment section below.

Lil Yachty Creates Concrete Rekordz With Support From Quality Control & HYBE

Lil Yachty is blazing new trails each and every day it seems. From his new features that drop weekly, to his future and most recent projects, Lil Boat is thriving. Pretty soon the Atlanta rapper and UK singer James Blake will be dropping an album together called Bad Cameo, which should be an interesting pairing. Elsewhere, Yachty has been quickly developing a rap collective called the Concrete Boys. They began buzzing in late December with their “MO JAMS” release. Now, Yachty and his compadres Camo!, DC2TRILL, Draft Day, and KARRAHBOOO, have Concrete Rekordz as a stable foundation.

The label is headed by the Let’s Start Here. creator, but he is not totally alone. According to Uproxx, the new recording brand has the support of Quality Control, which Yachty signed to. Additionally, QC is now a part of HYBE America, a subdivision of the Korean company that houses the popular K-pop groups like BTS. With the crazy support of some of the biggest names in the business, Yachty and Concrete Rekordz is going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Doja Cat Ended Her Social Media Hiatus With The Announcement Of ‘Masc,’ Her Next Single’s Release Date

Early this month, Doja Cat announced she would take an Instagram hiatus to preserve her mental health (although, being Doja, she would never put it in such a cliche way). Today, she reactivated her account, which now only includes one post: A extremely close-up photo of Doja’s hair with a caption announcing the imminent release date for her new single, “MASC.” The song drops on April 5.

Doja was one of a bunch of artists who seemingly flourished through social media interactions with fans. Whether she was previewing new music or trolling followers with sh*tposts and bad jokes, the California rapper always appeared to be in her element. However, over the past couple of years, fans’ interactions have become increasingly combative.

When she debuted a new haircut, they complained she wasn’t sexy enough. When she shared photos of her new tattoos, she was accused of Satanism. Even her wardrobe was subject to scrutiny, albeit somewhat justifiably so.

So it makes sense why, on March 9, Doja wrote, “Hey, I’m gonna deactivate because I’m not really feeling this anymore. You guys take care of yourselves. I like coming here to find inspo and see people being creative. But I just feel like this is getting to be too much. The way I’m spoken to on here and treated makes me have f*cked up thoughts. Please watch how you talk to and about people on the internet. Bye.”

It looks like the time away was productive, though; we’ll see what she’s cooked up on 4/5.

Lil Nas X Just Shared A New Song And He Thinks He’s ‘Probably Gonna Get In Trouble For’ It

Lil Nas X is back with new music, but it looks like he’s not really supposed to be sharing it. The song, officially titled “Light Again [demo 17]” on SoundCloud, has a strong dance influence, and indeed, Nas tagged his upload as “Dance & EDM.” The track is currently only available on SoundCloud.

In a four-minute video posted on Instagram after sharing the song, Nas starts, “I don’t know how long I’m going to be able to have this sh*t up, or I don’t know what my CEO thinks right now, or whatever.” He continues:

“Bro, these last couple years have been crazy, ’cause I’ve made so much music and I just want to release music. I just want to release music, but expectations are just like… insane. Like, I can’t even have fun. I just want to f*ckin’ have fun with this sh*t. I don’t even give a f*ck about all the other sh*t. Of course I want to, like, be No. 1 all the time, I want every song to go up, and I want you to go crazy. But it’s like, at the same time, I want to f*ckin’ have fun. I want to go and live life, I just want to make music. I don’t want to have to do crazy sh*t all the time. I want to make music, I want to f*ckin’ have fun, I want to live.”

He then spends the rest of the clip dancing along to the song.

Maxo Kream And That Mexican OT Have A Texas Conversation With Their ‘Talkin In Screw’ Video

Two of Texas’ rising titans of trash talk link up in the video for Maxo Kream‘s new single, “Talkin In Screw,” as the Houston native taps Bay City up-and-comer That Mexican OT to trade rapid-fire verses and a hook paying homage to one of their home state’s heroes. Over a slamming “saw whistle” beat, the two Lone Star spitters chop it up over the staples of their home region’s subgenre of brash street rap: Swangers, grills, wood grain, and of course, lean.

Aside from being the duo’s first song together since OT’s “Opp Or 2” in 2023, it’s also apparently the first single from Maxo’s upcoming follow-up to his well-received 2022 album, Weight Of The World, on which Uproxx’s Wongo Okon wrote, “the rapper insists on carrying this weight” of his “responsibilities, pains, and traumas.” While it’s still early days, Maxo sounds revitalized on his latest single, and ready to once again pull the rap world’s focus toward Texas.

Once it’s there, That Mexican OT is well-prepared to accept his share of the attention. Making a splash in 2023 with his breakthrough single “Johnny Dang,” OT impressed fans and critics with his debut studio album Lonestar Luchador, which confidently combined both Texas rap stereotypes and his love for the culture of his stage name. He followed up early this month with Texas Technician, proving that there’s a lot more gas in the tank.

The Best Vinyl Releases Of March 2024

vinyl
Derrick Rossignol

Anybody who thought the vinyl resurgence was just a fad was mistaken: The industry has experienced a legitimate revival. As a result, music fans are interested in physical media in ways they may not have if the decades-old medium hasn’t made a comeback. That doesn’t mean everybody is listening to just their parents’ old music, though. That’s part of it, sure, thanks to rereleases that present classic albums in new ways. A vital part of the renewed vinyl wave, though, is new projects being released as records, of which there are plenty.

Whatever you might be into, each month brings a new slew of vinyl releases that has something for everybody. Some stand out above the rest, naturally, so check out some of our favorite vinyl releases of March below.

Rosalía — Motomami + (Reissue)

Columbia

It’s been two years since Rosalía came through with her beloved third album, Motomami. She followed it up with a deluxe edition called Motomami + not long after, and now that version of the album is on vinyl for the first time ever. This pressing comes on clear-colored vinyl and comes with a poster.

AC/DC Vinyl 50th anniversary
Columbia Records/Legacy Recordings

On December 31, 1973 at Chequers Nightclub in Sydney, Australia, AC/DC played their first concert. Among the projects included, of course, is the iconic Back In Black, which, like the rest of the reissues, are available in the US exclusively through Walmart.

Kacey Musgraves Deeper Well Quilted Picture Disc Vinyl (Limited Collector's Edition)
MCA Nashville/Interscope

Musgraves graced March with the release of her sixth album, Deeper Well. It’s an often-gentle album, which goes great with the gorgeous “quilted picture disc” vinyl pressing of the album that you can snag (for now, anyway, as it’s a limited collector’s edition). The color and texture on the vinyl make it a truly special album, and you get to listen to a strong offering from one of our favorite contemporary country voices, to boot.

Adrianne Lenker — Bright Future

Indiecast host Steven Hyden and Ian Cohen went over Adrianne Lenker’s new solo album in a recent episode, and indeed, it’s a project worth picking up, especially on vinyl. This pressing comes on recycled vinyl, meaning that each individual copy will have a unique look to it and it may not look quite like the image above, making the unboxing a fun surprise.

The Cure — Paris (Reissue)

The Cure Paris
Rhino

The Cure is an exemplary live band and has been for a long time. If you want proof of that in your vinyl library, the group just reissued their 1992 live album Paris. The 2LP set marks the release’s first time on vinyl in 30 years and it was remastered by Robert Smith himself (along with Miles Showell) at Abbey Road Studios. If you missed out on seeing the band’s acclaimed live run last year, this might provide some temporary solace.

Alice In Chains — Jar Of Flies (30th Anniversary Reissue)

Alice In Chains Jar Of Flies vinyl
Columbia Records/Legacy Recordings

30 years ago now, Alice was in chains and flies were in jars. To mark this momentous occasion, Alice In Chains has delivered a reissue of Jar Of Flies. It has perhaps the most perfect vinyl coloration ever, too, which makes it look like actual flies are trapped in the record. Classics like “Nutshell” and the hit “No Excuses” have never sounded so good.
