Ludacris Recalls A Surprising Encounter With Justin Timberlake Backstage At The Grammys

With the 2024 Grammys taking place over the weekend, the notorious award show is fresh in a lot of people’s minds. As is often the case that got a lot of fans and artists reminiscing on some of their favorite Grammy memories. One of which was Ludacris. The rapper recently made an appearance on Drink Champs to discuss his memories from years of attending the award show. But it was one particular backstage encounter during the 2007 Grammys that grabbed the attention of listeners.

The 2007 Grammys in particular were a big night for Ludacris. Though he had already won an award for his Usher and Lil Jon collab “Yeah” it was his first time winning for music of his own. He took home the Best Rap Album award for his project Release Therapy and also won Best Rap Song for the album’s biggest hit “Money Maker.” But while celebrating his victory backstage he had a surprising encounter. He calls someone saying “Shut the f*** up, some of us didn’t win any g****** Grammys!!!” in response to his celebration. Ludacris Shares His Justin Timberlake Grammys Story

This year’s Grammys also provided some moments that will probably make great podcast stories one day. The biggest is probably Killer Mike. He had a pretty substantial celebration after sweeping the hip-hop categories and taking home three straight awards. But his celebration was cut short when he was arrested shortly after for an incident that happened backstage.

When the story initially broke there was very little information, just videos of Mike in handcuffs circulating online. Since then he’s thankfully been released and some context was added to the incident and resulting arrest, though the full story from his perspective isn’t yet known. Dee Barnes Comments On Jay-Z Winning Grammy Named After Her Abuser Dr. Dre

Jay-Z just won the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award at the 2024 Grammy Awards, an accolade with a difficult history to reckon with. That’s what Dee Barnes pointed out on Twitter upon hearing of the win, as she is the award’s namesake’s abuse victim. As such, this achievement does come with some baggage and a wider conversation on platforming these individuals, but it didn’t play out in the way that you would expect. As she suggests, she does not hold these actions against any one recipient of the Global Impact Award, especially not Hov, and expressed more concern with how the producer’s legacy erases his actions.

“The @RecordingAcad does not care about #ViolenceAgainstWomen,” Dee Barnes wrote of Jay-Z winning the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award. “#JayZ received an award named after an #abuser and defended his wife in his speech while his daughter stood by his side.” As such, she seemed to suggest that the New York rapper actually fought back against the implications of this award by championing the females in his journey. While this is no easy fix for abuse or the tough discussion around these topics, it’s certainly something to focus on and emphasize, especially in a year in which almost every General Field nominee was a woman.

Dee Barnes Speaks On Jay-Z’s Dr. Dre Global Impact Award

However, some folks on Twitter weren’t buying Dee Barnes’ interpretation, for one reason or another. Sure, some will always dismiss “cancel culture,” but those who condemn Dr. Dre’s actions think Jay-Z’s speech wasn’t enough to make up for them. “Another reason I’m unmoved by that speech,” a user replied to her aforementioned tweet about the Roc Nation mogul. “Nah, it gave what it was supposed to give,” Barnes responded, and it’s unclear whether this is a fully genuine take or sarcastic disappointment.

Still, her next tweet was definitely more clear in this aspect. “It wasn’t a slamming it was a call out! They gave him the mic and he rightfully caled them out. In fact, they are currently second in the Western Conference, and some believe they could go all the way and win themselves an NBA title. No one knows for sure if that is in the cards, but they are evolving quite nicely.

One player who has been responsible for this rise is none other than Anthony Edwards. Overall, Edwards is a player who has shown great resolve. Some have even compared him to Michael Jordan, which is pretty special. Interestingly enough, just like Michael, he now has his own signature shoe. He has a model with Adidas, and recently, he wore an all-blue pair. After showing up to the game, 50 Cent was brought near the locker room, where Ant took off the shoes and gave them to the hip-hop legend.

50 Cent seemed to be pretty hype about getting the shoes. After all, Edwards is a player whose stock continues to rise. Either way, the Timberwolves took home an easy win against the Houston Rockets, and Fif has some new shoes. All-in-all, it was a pretty successful night for every single person involved. Hopefully, the T-Wolves are able to continue this Cinderella season and finish it off with some playoff success.

King Charles III Has Cancer

King Charles III has been diagnosed with an unnamed form of cancer, Buckingham Palace announced in a statement provided to BBC on Monday. The 75-year-old was at the hospital, last week, to treat benign prostate enlargement when the issue was discovered. He will continue with his royal duties behind the scenes but postpone public appearances. He was last seen at a church service in Sandringham on Sunday.

“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties,” the Palace’s statement said. “Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual. The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible. His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”

Royal Society of Medicine President Dr Jay Verma thanked the King for showing that cancer is indiscriminate. “Please don’t be shy. The more information we have the better to help – hopefully – rule out cancer or, if not, put you on the most suitable treatment pathway,” he said, according to BBC. Joji And (G)I-DLE Will Headline 88Rising’s Head In The Clouds 2024 In New York

Over the past few years, 88rising’s Head In The Clouds festival has become the premiere music festival for Asian talent in the US. Today, the label announced the dates for the festival’s return to New York: Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12. The festival will return to Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York City, with headliners Joji and (G)I-DLE. Tickets go on presale on Friday, February 9 at 10 am ET.
