Tim Tebow Nearly Left The NFL For Wrestlemania

Tim Tebow could have left the NFL for a guest spot at Wrestlemania, the President of WWE has revealed. “When I was an agent, my prior profession, and I was trying to get into the WWE business. Paul had called me, unsolicited call, and this was when Tim Tebow had just gotten cut by the Patriots. He said, hey, what do you think about Tim Tebow against the Big Show at whatever that WrestleMania was after the Patriots run. I said, what’re you thinking? He offered some financial terms, I called Tim at the time, [asked] what do you think. Tim and I had, then, a top secret private meeting: Tim Tebow, myself, Vince McMahon, Triple H, in Anaheim, California about that. Ultimately, it didn’t happen,” Nick Khan told Pat McAfee.

Tebow’s time in New England only lasted the summer of 2013. with Tebow being cut at the 53-man roster deadline. That means that Tebow was being considered for April 2014’s WrestleMania XXX. According to Khan, Tebow was being considered for a fight against Big Show. However, as the now WWE President noted, the fight never came together. Instead, Big Show would end up finishing second at the inaugural Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

Joel Embiid Gets Wrestlemania

However, another pro athlete who could be headed to Wrestlemania is Joel Embiid. The NBA fined Embiid $35K for “repeatedly making an obscene gesture on the playing court” in November 2023. The gesture in question was the “DX Crotch Chop”, something first seen in the WWE by the D-Generation X stable. Embiid broke out the move after scoring off a foul in the third quarter in the Sixers’ home opener against the Blazers. Earlier this year, in January, Embiid was fined $25K for making the same gesture in a similar situation against the Nets.

Despite being out $35K, Embiid has gotten an invaluable invitation out of the moment. After news of the fine broke, Triple H, one of the best known DX wrestlers, hit Embiid up on Twitter. “Hey @JoelEmbiid – I know a place where you can do that all day, and everyone will love it. WrestleMania 40 is right there in Philly…,” the wrestler wrote. Furthermore, the milestone wrestling will touch down in the City of Brotherly Love this April.

Jack Antonoff Just Maybe Might Possibly Not Be A Big Fan Of Kanye West, Who He Dubbed A ‘Cry Baby B*tch’

With his various antics and controversies in recent years, Kanye West hasn’t exactly endeared himself to a lot of people. It appears that among those who potentially might not be among West’s biggest supporters is Jack Antonoff.

His band Bleachers has a new self-titled album coming out on March 8. Meanwhile, yesterday (January 23), West announced that his and Ty Dolla Sign’s upcoming album Vultures is now a three-part project, with volumes currently set for release on February 9, March 8, and April 5.

Antonoff appears to not love that he and West share a release date now: This morning, he tweeted, “kanye on bleachers release date is hilarious little cry baby b*tch.”

Worth noting is that West has delayed the release of Vultures multiple times now (which he’s done for a bunch of his previous albums, too), so there’s a decent chance West and Antonoff might not even end up releasing on the same day.

Antonoff’s latest tweet comes after his 2022 X (then Twitter) masterwork, when he tweeted, “kanye a little b*tch.” This followed West saying some antisemitic things, and Antonoff, who is Jewish, presumably didn’t care for that. Pair that with the fact that West and Antonoff collaborator Taylor Swift don’t have the best history and it makes sense why Antonoff isn’t a Ye appreciator.

Is Jennifer Lopez’s Rice Water Hack Real?

Right now, there is a viral interview of Jennifer Lopez making the rounds on TikTok, where the pop star appears to be discussing a “rice hack” diet to lose weight, according to HITC. So, what’s going on here?

Is Jennifer Lopez’s Rice Water Hack Real?

No.

While Lopez did appear on The Dr. Oz Show years ago, she instead was discussing the importance of drinking regular water.

“Water,” she actually said. “Lots of water. Believe it or not, it does help keep your weight down. It obviously keeps you hydrated… for me, it just feels good. It’s mostly what I drink all the time… I just drink it all day, it’s the thing I drink.”

Instead of the original audio, a fake one has been added over Lopez’s appearance. “How am I staying in shape?” the fake Lopez voice says. “Forget about all the diets and training, I am using a special rice method that is helping me stay fit.”

Anyone watching should be able to (hopefully) tell that the voiceover does not match Lopez talking in the clip. The strange video then cuts to someone doing an at-home tutorial with lemon, rice, and some strange powder.

It should be said: don’t try or even believe this, whatever it is. Lopez, or any reputable celebrity for that matter, has not been promoting a “rice hack.”

Kodak Black To Spend At Least 4 More Weeks In Jail

Kodak Black will be spending at least another month behind bars according to a new report from AllHipHop. The outlet cites court documents showing that a final hearing to address the revocation of Kodak Black’s supervised release was held in court on Monday. There, Judge Jose E. Martinez decided that he would need another four weeks to come to a decision. Kodak’s next chance to receive an early release will come on February 21.

Police originally planned to charge Kodak with cocaine possession after an arrest in December 2023. They alleged to have discovered a “white chunky substance” while searching the rapper’s vehicle. They ended up charging him with oxycodone possession and violating his probation.

Kodak’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, previously filed a motion asking a Florida judge to dismiss the charges. Cohen says his client had a prescription for the painkillers and wants the judge to reconsider the charges. “As stated when this new case first was filed, this was not cocaine and the officer was lying about his observations,” Cohen explained on Instagram. “We finally got the lab report…its oxycodone that Kodak had a prescription for and not an illegal substance. Knowing that the officer substantially misrepresented his observations, the Broward State Atty Office still filed the charge. Unbelievable and it will not be tolerated. This level of abuse of power by the arresting officer is disgusting. We will be seeking a new bond hearing and addressing these unethical practices by the police department.”

Kodak had been on probation at the time of his arrest after former president Donald Trump commuted his sentence in 2021. Be on the lookout for further updates on Kodak Black as well as his next hearing in February on HotNewHipHop.

Kenya Barris Details Plan For “The Wizard Of Oz” In Inglewood: What We Know

Kenya Barris has a long history of developing complex black stories for modern audiences, with such hits under his belt as Black-ish, Grown-ish, and Kid Cudi’s animated venture, Entergalactic, which premiered on Netflix in 2022. For several years now, the acclaimed writer has been developing a modern adaptation of the classic 1939 film The Wizard Of Oz, with plans to set the story in Inglewood, California. Kenya Barris originally tried to purchase the rights to an adaptation of The Wiz, though the IP is currently entangled in the upcoming Disney+ outing of Wicked.

Instead, Barris has partnered with Warner Brothers to provide his take on the age-old musical. This project serves as one of many upcoming outings from Barris, as the writer has also signed on to helm a remake of the Christmas classic It’s A Wonderful Life, as well as a Richard Pryor biopic. Though specific details are scant on the upcoming Wizard Of Oz remake, here’s what we know about the musical so far.

We’re Not In Kansas Anymore

While the original Wizard Of Oz famously takes place on a farm in the Kansas prairie, Kenya Barris shifted the project to a more familiar modern landscape. In this new iteration, Dorothy will live in the Bottoms, a massive low-income housing project in Inglewood, California. Per Barris, the film will take the existing themes of the original film and the 1900 children’s novel on which the movie is based and renew them with a modern twist. Barris is not the first writer to re-contextualize the IP, as The Wiz set the events in Harlem.

Barris explained, “The original Wizard of Oz took place during the Great Depression, and it was about self-reliance and what people were going through. I think this is the perfect time to switch the characters and talk about what someone imagines their life could be. It’s ultimately a hero’s journey, someone thinks something’s better than where they’re at, and they go and realize that where they’re at is where they should be. I want people to be proud and happy about where they’re from. But I want the world to take a look at it and I hope that will come through.”

The Script Was Recently Completed

Further, Kenya Barris has teased his Wizard Of Oz film for years, leaving some fans to question when, if ever, the film would finally arrive. Barris recently confirmed with Complex that he has completed the screenplay, signaling a significant advancement in the film’s development. This suggests that the film is likely entering the early stages of pre-production. While Barris hasn’t disclosed any information about the cast, the Black-ish creator has expressed interest in featuring a subversive lead, deviating from audience expectations.

Barris didn’t name the mystery actor he had in mind, though he did specify, “I know people feel like they know what we’re going to do, so I want to do something totally different.” He made these comments in response to queries about potentially hiring one of his past collaborators, meaning we likely won’t see any Black-ish or Grown-ish leads heading the film.

There Are Several Projects In The Pipeline Before The Wizard Of Oz Film

Despite completing the script and gearing up for casting, Kenya Barris has multiple projects set to premiere before the upcoming Wizard of Oz remake. Barris is listed as a producer on the upcoming Netflix original series The Vince Staples Show, starring the eponymous rapper, as well as the Snoop Dogg and Mike Epps-led film Underdoggs. As one of the hardest-working creators in the industry, it’s no surprise Barris has his hands full with so many projects. Regardless, more news about the casting and release of Kenya Barris’ Wizard Of Oz is sure to come in the next few months.

Toxic Love: Essential, Wild R&B Songs For Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. With this holiday comes a season of love, affection, and romance. Further, R&B is the perfect genre for Valentine’s Day, whether you are single or in a committed relationship—or anywhere in between. There is a lane of the genre for everyone, including wholesome declarations of love and toxic soundtracks to pain.

Many legendary singers have dabbled in both ends of the R&B spectrum. Some, however, specialize in toxicity, penning some wild lyrics that become irresistible classics. In this modern era, toxic R&B has taken over. During times of heartbreak, listeners turn to toxic R&B, no matter how jarring the content may be. For this year’s Valentine’s Day, we are exploring toxic love by providing a list of essential wild R&B songs. Listed in no particular order, take a look at the selections below.

dvsn-if-i-get-caught”>dvsn – “If I Get Caught”

Canadian R&B duo dvsn make some of the best moody R&B. The lead single from their latest release, 2022’s Working on My Karma, basks in the group’s toxicity. Daniel Daley begins “If I Get Caught” by telling a girl “[she] wouldn’t want [him] if you thought [he] never had hoes” in response to her going through his phone. “Now you’re trippin’, girl, it’s not fair,” he sings. The JAY-Z-sampling song embraces its own toxicity with its catchy chorus. The choir chants, “If I get caught cheating, that don’t mean I don’t love you.” It is a song about cheating and trust that channels classic ’90s R&B records. The wild premise of “If I Get Caught” makes for the perfect toxic R&B for Valentine’s Day.

Ty Dolla $ign – “Horses In The Stable”

Undoubtedly, Ty Dolla $ign’s most toxic song is “Horses In the Stable.” He brags about having women in different area codes, likening his full roster to having horses “that [he] can ride anytime.” After listing off each girl’s name and city in the verses, he admits that “the way that [he’s] living ain’t right” but still says, “You just another girl, and this is just another night.” The song’s soulful swing and impeccable vocal performance make the lyrics seem very emotional, but the song is quite the opposite. Ty sings, “She said she lookin’ for a real one / I told her that she found a real one / Said she looking for relationships / I said, ‘Girl, who you playin’ with?’” The overwhelmingly toxic metaphor of horses in the stable combined with the instrumentation is overtly degrading but makes for a painfully honest song.

Jazmine Sullivan – “Roster”

Like Ty Dolla $ign, Jazmine Sullivan “keeps it honest” by telling someone about her “long list” on “Roster.” From start to finish, she is blunt in her approach and self-aware of how her habits may seem. “Toxic, call me toxic but you’ll never call me stupid,” she begins. “I’ve been told before, I’m ruthless ’cause I’m a player by nature / But I’ll always keep it honest / So for you, there’s one more spot left in my roster,” she continues. Jazmine Sullivan is enjoying herself, singing, “I’m not stopping in my prime / This the best time of my life.” She is interested in the person she’s speaking to but tells him, “Don’t catch feelings” and “You just gotta fall in line.” “Roster” explores having options, appealing to those disinterested in committed relationships around Valentine’s Day.

Drake feat. Ty Dolla $ign – “Get Along Better”

As both a rapper and a singer, Drake has a plethora of toxic tracks. Within the R&B realm of his catalog, many songs stick out as heartfelt expressions of heartbreak despite having a petty and toxic edge. On the Ty Dolla $ign-assisted “Get Along Better,” Drake ruminates on a past relationship and how it ended. He sings, “You had the nеrve to defend mistakes that you made at the end / You said I was too invested and that’s what had forced you to go and pretend.” Drake even doubles down, passionately singing, “I swear you crazy.” Promising pure intentions and that “this ain’t ‘bout revenge,” he still says, “now I get along better with your friend.” Despite not wanting to seek revenge on his ex, Drake remains frustrated with the way things ended between them but has finally moved on with her friend.

PARTYNEXTDOOR – “Savage Anthem”

“Savage Anthem” is appropriately titled as PARTYNEXTDOOR tells his girl that he will not change for her, sticking to his savage ways. “Don’t hold your breath, don’t wait on my love,” he tells her in the chorus before delivering some ruthless lines in the verses. PND tells the girl that she should not count on him to commit as he sings, “Don’t trust me to capture the moment / Forgive me, it just was a moment.” He is also clearly not open to hearing her side. He sings, “You see, I don’t give no f*cks now / Is it somethin’ we discussed now? / The truth got you in disgust now ’cause I’d rather we just f*ck now.”

Party is self-aware of his toxicity, saying that he puts “the dirt into dirtbag.” He knows “that’s f*cked up” but “that’s what pimpin’ do.” Overall, “Savage Anthem” certainly lives up to its title and is the essential song for those feeling toxic on Valentine’s Day.

SZA – “Kill Bill”

SZA’s “Kill Bill” is another anthem for those feeling salty about how their last relationship ended. The Grammy-nominated single starts with SZA hating to see her ex happy with a new girl. She uses the metaphor of the famous Tarantino film to sing about being so hung up on her ex that she starts plotting to kill him and his new girl. Singing that she still loves him despite wanting to kill him, she says that she would rather be in jail and hell “than alone.” SZA clarifies that drugs do not influence her thinking, but she doesn’t want her ex to move on without her. The sentiments of “Kill Bill” resonate with listeners who hate to see their old flames move on without them. For that reason, it is the right kind of toxic R&B song for Valentine’s Day.

The Weeknd – “Shameless”

It really does not get more toxic than The Weeknd when it comes to R&B. Dark tales of pain, numbness, and cold-blooded lyrics riddle his discography. Throughout his career, he has enticed listeners with an intoxicated reality, bringing them into conceptual worlds of toxic relationships. Before returning to his “heartless” ways, The Weeknd declared himself “Shameless.” In this song, he details a no-strings-attached relationship with a girl who “lives for the pain” and begs him to come over.

The Weeknd recognizes her emotional baggage, singing, “That’s why you always call me ‘cause you’re scared to be loved.” Understanding the damage created by this relationship, he makes an empty promise to be there for her. Despite not wanting to hurt her, he admits he has no shame and continues staying in the relationship. With its “Shameless” lyrics, The Weeknd highlights toxic love in this song. It is the ultimate soundtrack to those feeling shameless around Valentine’s Day.

21 Savage Reveals Why Broke Parents Are Better Than Rich Ones

During his recent appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay, 21 Savage opened up about fatherhood. He reflected on his own upbringing, comparing it to what he’s able to provide for his children now. The rapper has three kids, ranging from ages eight to ten. According to him, balancing his career with family life is no easy task, and often leaves him feeling like his little ones are missing out.

“I be feeling like I don’t be doing all the way my job because of my job,” he says in a clip from the interview. “So I be trying to like, balance that out […] You work to receive, to gain all the success and all the good sh*t, but it’s like I feel like the best parents in my opinion is parents that don’t got it all. I feel like broke parents are better than rich parents, in my opinion.”

21 Savage has been awfully busy as of late, dropping his third studio album american dream earlier this month. So far, the project has been a success, landing the artist two tracks on the Billboard Hot 100. It moved 131K album-equivalent units in its first week, on par with his 2018 solo album, i am > i was.
