One of the most notable hit songs of the 2020s so far just won a major legal battle. Back in 2020 Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion teamed up for the hilarious anthem “WAP.” The song was instantly controversial for its overtly sexual themes but that also propelled it to massive success on the charts. But last year the pair were reportedly sued by a rapper named Necey X who claimed that they stole lyrics from her song “Grab Em.”
Now according to Billboard, a judge has thrown out the lawsuit, ruling in Cardi and Megan’s favor. “The lyrics over which plaintiff asserts copyright protection are no more than common phrases, employed frequently in popular culture and other Hip-Hop songs,” district judge Andrew L. Carter ruled in the case. “The concept of using ‘p—- so wet’ as a rhetorical device in a song is neither original nor unique to plaintiff,” the judge wrote. “Likewise, defendants have provided examples of at least three songs pre-dating [‘Grab Em’] which use some variation of the phrase ‘n—–s wild’n,’” he concluded. The lawsuit victory comes during a time when neither Megan or Cardi have released much new material recently. Check out the full text of the decision in the story below.
The controversy surrounding “WAP” lasted beyond when the song was a big hit. In a more recent interview, Cardi B explained why she never submitted the song for Grammy consideration. “This is something where it’s like, I need to stop letting the internet control my life. ‘Cause I didn’t want to submit ‘WAP’ because I was afraid that if I win or if I—you know what’s so crazy? The internet got me even afraid of winning. That is insane,” she said.
“WAP” spent four weeks at the number one spot on the Hot 100. It also became the first collaboration between female rap artists to debut at the top spot in its very first week. What do you think of Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion winning their lawsuit over the lyrics from “WAP?” Let us know in the comment section below.
Hope Solo, an iconic figure in the world of women’s football, has made significant strides both on and off the pitch. As of 2023, her net worth is estimated to be around $3 million US dollars, according to Celebrity Net Worth. But how did she amass this fortune, and what has been her journey in the world of football and beyond?
Born Hope Amelia Solo on 30th July 1981 in Richland, Washington, Hope’s passion for football was evident from a young age. Her father, a Vietnam War veteran, introduced her to the sport. Despite facing personal challenges, including her parents’ divorce and her father’s arrest, Hope’s love for the game remained undeterred. She showcased her talent at Richland High School, scoring an impressive 109 goals and leading her team to multiple league titles.
Hope’s prowess on the field caught the attention of many colleges. She eventually chose the University of Washington, where she transitioned from a forward to a goalkeeper. This decision proved pivotal, as she emerged as one of the top goalkeepers in the Pac-12 Conference’s history. Her club career saw her play for teams across the US and Europe, including the Philadelphia Charge, Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC in Sweden, and Olympique Lyonnais in France.
Solo’s international career is nothing short of remarkable. She served as the goalkeeper for the United States National Soccer team from 2000 to 2016. During this period, she won two Olympic Gold Medals in the 2008 Beijing Games and the 2012 London Games. Her records include an impressive 153 wins and 102 shutouts. Her contributions were instrumental in the success of Team USA, especially during the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
While the salaries for female athletes, especially in football, often lag behind their male counterparts, Solo managed to bridge this gap through lucrative endorsement deals. Companies like Nike, Gatorade, Simple Skincare, and Bank of America recognised her talent and marketability. These endorsements, combined with her on-field earnings, played a significant role in her net worth. Apart from football, Solo also ventured into television, participating in Dancing With The Stars and penning her autobiography, Solo: A Memoir Of Hope.
Off the pitch, Hope’s life has been a blend of personal joys and challenges. She married former football player Jerramy Stevens in 2012, and the couple welcomed twins in 2020. Solo’s commitment to giving back is evident through her association with various charitable organisations. She has supported the BoysandGirls Club, Street Soccer USA, and has been a representative of the Women’s Sports Foundation.
Hope Solo’s net worth is a testament to her dedication, talent, and resilience. From her early days in Richland to representing the US on the global stage, Solo’s journey is an inspiration. Her net worth of $3 million US dollars in 2023 reflects not just her footballing achievements but also her ability to transcend the sport and make a mark in various spheres of life.
Ashley Darby, a prominent figure in reality television, has made a significant mark with her appearance on the Bravo reality series The Real Housewives of Potomac (RHOP). As of 2023, her net worth stands at an impressive $5 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. But how did she amass such wealth, and what factors contributed to her financial success? Let’s delve deeper into her journey.
Ashley’s story is one of resilience and determination. Hailing from Maryland, she was the eldest child in her family. With the responsibility of supporting her single mother and younger siblings, Ashley took on multiple jobs from a young age. Her commitment to her family’s well-being is evident in her decision to work while pursuing her education at the University of Maryland.
A Pageant Winner’s Journey
While juggling her responsibilities, Ashley’s life took a turn when she was scouted to participate in the Miss District of Columbia Pageant. Her charm and charisma led her to clinch the title in 2011. This win boosted her confidence and opened doors to numerous opportunities, including her stint on RHOP. Further, Ashley’s personal life has also been a topic of interest for many. She met Michael Darby, an Australian real estate magnate, and their love story blossomed despite the significant age gap. Being 29 years older than Ashley, Michael raised eyebrows, but the couple’s love pushed forward. They tied the knot after four years of dating, and Ashley became a stepmother to Michael’s two sons. Together, the couple also welcomed two children. In 2022, they announced their divorce.
Entrepreneurial Ventures
Beyond her television appearances, Ashley has showcased her entrepreneurial spirit. With a vision of introducing authentic Australian cuisine to the DC area, she launched Oz Restaurant and Bar with her husband’s support. This establishment prides itself on offering fresh and wholesome ingredients, reflecting Ashley’s commitment to health and wellness.
Conclusion
Ashley Darby’s net worth is a testament to her hard work, determination, and ability to seize opportunities. Her journey is inspiring, from supporting her family at a young age to becoming a successful entrepreneur and reality TV star. As she continues to make waves in the entertainment and business sectors, her net worth will likely grow further in the coming years.

LA tag team Blxst and Bino Rideaux dropped their new mixtape, Sixtape 3, today, and with it, the video for one of its standout tracks, “Doin Yo Stuff.” In the video, Bino and Blxst are a pair of thirsty personal trainers at an all-women gym. While the members lift, stretch, and (of course) twerk it out in the exercise room, the two rappers croon-rap some encouragement, telling the girls’ their “ass got fatter” — which is a good thing, in rap parlance.
Fans of the duo’s first and second Sixtapes won’t be disappointed here. Their chemistry remains intact and their beat choices remain excellent as they sling seductive come-ons over laid-back funk instrumentals. The fittingly titled six-track tape is a smooth ride from beginning to end, depicting the highs and lows of life in South Central LA, slotting right in alongside the first two installments (an 18-song vinyl release wouldn’t go amiss, fellas, I’m just saying).
Sixtape 3 is Blxst’s second project of the year after the NBA 2K23 soundtrack he curated, and he’s got one more in the works after this, so he’s having a pretty good year. Bino, who’s considerably accessible online, has put all his efforts behind promoting this one, but he’s only about a year or so removed from Sorry 4 Tha Wait II, so expect to hear from him soon. They’ve also got a sold-out mini-tour coming to four West Coast cities this month, likely preceding a longer tour later on.

The latest artist to surf the club wave is Baby Tate, whose fittingly titled new single “Jersey” employs a thumping Jersey club beat with a catchy melodic hook and a lyrical tale about rejection. Tate sing-raps an open letter to a f*ckboy in her life, lambasting him for his lack of commitment. “Damn, we coulda really had a ball,” she laments. “Painted me a picture, but I saw / You only wanted the drawers.”
With so many artists adopting the Jersey sound — including Baby Tate’s fellow ATLien Kaliii — Tate is one of the ones who really lands it. She’s already got a record of experimenting with different sounds, so she doesn’t sound out of pocket here, the stripped-down Jersey beat doesn’t sound gimmicky or too busy, and unlike some of her contemporaries, Tate’s lyrics stick to the script conceptually. The effect is something like PinkPantheress and Ice Spice’s breakout hit “Boy’s A Liar” but with Tate performing both the singing and rapping halves.
On the hook, she sings, “I’m in the middle of New Jersey cryin’ in the club.” This ties the theme of the song more closely to the beat. Meanwhile, in the accompanying visualizer for the track, Tate visits her old elementary school, which suggests the innocence of young love (and an easily broken heart), while during the breakdown, she actually ends up in a club with her homegirls, dancing their cares away. It’s cute and a lot of fun, and honestly, it’d be great if more artists jumping on this trend put this level of effort in.

Things aren’t that great between Doja Cat and her fans right now. Well, some of them: After she recently lost hundreds of thousands of social media followers after a rant against her fans, she wrote, “Seeing all these people unfollow me makes me feel like I’ve defeated a large beast that’s been holding me down for so long. And it feels like I can reconnect with the people who really matter and love me for who I am and not for who I was. I feel free.”
Now, the saga continues. There are apparently some folks out there who thinks Doja disses other rappers. Doja set the record straight on that, insisting that it’s just “the f*ckin phonies in my comment sections” she’s going after.
In a series of now-deleted Instagram Story posts shared today (September 1), she wrote:
“people don’t wanna accept im dissing them so they try to pin it on cardi nicki and meg and every other female rapper. I don’t diss rappers I diss critics. Stay bored. Stay reaching.
i don’t diss people i’m inspired by i don’t diss people i look up to. i don’t diss people who don’t attack and harass me every day. YALL do. SHE doesn’t. THEY dont. Y’all are the problem.
TO BE 100% CLEAR because I know you all need me to talk REEEEEAL SLOOOOOW for you; I’m not dissing anyone but the f*ckin phonies in my comment sections.”

Lil Peep was someone who was in the midst of changing the game in hip-hop. Overall, he was someone who came up during the SoundCloud era and really created his own lane. He was one of the pioneers of the emo-rap sound that would dominate 2016 and 2017. Unfortunately, the artist died incredibly young and it left his friends, family, and fans, devastated. As it turns out, at the time of his death, he was in the midst of making an album with none other than iLoveMakonnen.
The two were very good friends, and ever since his passing, Makonnen has been honest about how devastated he was by Peep’s death. For years, Makonnen refrained from dropping the project, which was mostly finished. Now, however, the new album Diamonds is slated to be dropped next Friday, September 8th. Below, you can find the first single to drop from the album, titled “November.” If you’re a fan of either artist, you have to give this a listen.
Throughout the track, we get some plucky synths while Makonnen starts it off with some great vocals. From there, the song transitions into a punky ballad-like song that is led by Peep’s distinct vocals. Once again, we get a transition back into Makonnen’s part, which features those aforementioned plucky synths. It is a song that is going to make you feel good, especially with the summer coming to a close.

Quotable Lyrics:
Now that months have passed, I don’t think about our past I know it wouldn’t last, so I’m not mad about what we had I know you’re feelin’ sad, still cryin’ every night I know seasons change, and you’re not feelin’ right (Yeah)
