Lil Uzi Vert And Trippie Redd Link Up At “Pink Tape” Party
In case you didn’t know, Lil Uzi Vert just announced their long-awaited new album The Pink Tape. The young star and “Just Wanna Rock” hitmaker is following up three albums they released in 2020. Early that year they dropped the highly anticipated Eternal Atake. That was followed up by the shorter and more feature-heavy LUV vs. The World 2. And later in the year, they teamed up with Future for a collaborative album called Pluto x Baby Pluto. Now the follow-up is just a few days away and Uzi is celebrating.
Last night, Lil Uzi Vert hosted a party in anticipation of The Pink Tape‘s release later this week. In the aftermath of the party, photos emerged of Uzi hanging out with fellow singer and rapper Trippie Redd. The pair have teamed up on music at least once before. Uzi appears on the song “Holy Smokes” from Trippie’s 2021 album Trip At Knight. The pair also have some unreleased music that has leaked in the past.

Trippie Redd isn’t the only old friend that Lil Uzi Vert has reunited with recently. Yesterday an adorable new video emerged of Uzi running into interviewer Nardwuar. Lil Uzi Vert’s album announcement did draw most of the headlines but it wasn’t their only recent news. In a statement recently Uzi claimed they’re a better dresser than A$AP Rocky. Erykah Badu Reflects On J. Dilla’s Greatness
Erykah Badu is currently on her “Unfollow Me” tour with rapper Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def). During her stop in San Diego, CA, she opened up about her musical relationship with the late J Dilla. Via Detroit rapper Frank Nitt’s Insta feed, she talked about the rap producer at length. “He didn’t really talk a lot,” Erykah said when a fan asked about what it was like to work with him. “He was very quiet… [Communicated] through the music, mostly.”
She also called J Dilla “super organized.” She referenced a detail that all of J Dilla’s Coca-Cola cans in his fridge were aligned so the logo was facing out. Dilla was an engineer through and through, and it showed. Erykah continues by saying he was generous and merciful. He taught people in the music industry, but Erykah Badu also says he would let others get away with stuff. “Like, he let a lot of people get away with, like, biting his sh*t,” Badu says. J Dilla died in 2006 from lupus complications. But his resolve impressed Erykah: “This is the most important thing; he was sick, but nobody knew. That speaks volumes.”

J Dilla was a tremendous hip-hop producer. His career, which started in the ’90s, included collaborating with A Tribe Called Quest and Common. He became a part of the Soulquarians collective, with Erykah Badu also being a member. Mama’s Gun, Badu’s second album from 2000, features the track “Didn’t Cha Know.” Dilla produced that track for his collective teammate, creating a solid friendship built around music. Recently, Logic claimed he had an entire album full of J Dilla beats that he eventually scrapped.
Erykah Badu’s “Unfollow Me” Tour is speaking to the current rampant cancel culture. Breaking down the meaning with VIBE a few weeks back, the Neo Soul artist lets her fans know if they don’t agree with what she says, then they should simply unsubscribe. “Whenever someone says something in the comments, they don’t agree; I don’t care, unfollow me, doesn’t matter.” She says she’s on a journey and that her audience is on their own journey, and that that’s all okay. Quavo Works On “Rocket Power,” Says It’s Coming Soon
A recent social media post reveals that Quavo’s upcoming album, Rocket Power, is coming soon. He shared some photos of himself in the recording studio on Instagram today, writing “We Mixing Ima Call For Ur Ear [ear emoji] Soon.” He topped the post off with a Rocket Power hashtag, building fans’ excitement for his next release.
Rocket Power doesn’t have an official release date currently, but is expected to drop sometime this year. The LP will follow his 2018 solo debut, Quavo Huncho. He revealed along with the announcement that the album is dedicated to his late Migos group mate Takeoff, who was shot and killed in 2022. “This album is for the Rocket, our true fans, and also this is my therapy,” he explained on Instagram, “This album is a true reflection of how I feel right now.” Earlier this month, Quavo hosted a pop-up for his “Rocket Power” merchandise in Paris. The pop-up was a massive success, with hundreds of supporters gathering to get their hands on the Takeoff-inspired merch.

Quavo Is Mixing His Upcoming Album
Over the weekend, Quavo and his other Migos group mate, Offset, reunited for a performance at the 2023 BET Awards. Sampha Returns With “Spirit 2.0,” First Song In 6 Years
Sampha has made his long-awaited return with his first new song in six years. The English singer dropped “Spirit 2.0” for fans on Wednesday. He worked with Yaeji, El Guincho, and Ibeyi’s Lisa-Kaindé Diaz, among others on the effort. Sampha previously previewed the song during recent concerts in New York and London.
“It’s about the importance of connection to both myself and others, and the beauty and harsh realities of just existing,” Sampha said of “Spirit 2.0” in a press release. In the song, he sings, “Now I’m drifting into open skies/And I ain’t scared as before.” Check out the full song below.

He continued in the press release: “It’s about acknowledging those moments when you need help—that requires real strength. Despite not releasing any solo music since his full-length debut album, Process, in 2017, Sampha has collaborated with numerous other artists in the time since. He’s appeared on Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers (“Father Time”), SBTRKT’s The Rat Road (“L.F.O.“), and Stormzy’s This Is What I Mean (“Sampha’s Plea”), among others.
As for upcoming releases, Drake recently teased on his Instagram Story that the two have something in the works. “@sampha and me cooking up something cr*zy,” Drake captioned a photo of the two of them. “Weird you lost your London accent, but whatever people evolve I guess.” Sampha has yet to confirm any details on a new album, but back in April, he released a vinyl repress of his 2013 EP, Dual, and wrote on Instagram: “Once again thank you for those who are still listening.. Chicago Bulls Reportedly Finding It Impossible To Trade Zach LaVine
The Chicago Bulls’ plan to potentially trade Zach LaVine has reportedly hit a major roadblock. While it was reported earlier in the offseason that the Bulls were testing the trade market on LaVine, it appears that there is no market to speak of.
However, this is not due to LaVine as a player. He is coming off a strong year statistically. Instead, the Bulls’ demands are simply too high for anyone to be able to offer a feasible trade.
It is believed that the Bulls have taken the Washington Wizards’ trade of Bradley Beal as a benchmark are looking to go well past the package Washington got. However, this has left them without anyone who is willing to part ways with that much capital.

Bulls Shoot Themselves In The Foot On LaVine Trade
As mentioned, the Bulls are looking for a monster package for LaVine. This likely includes multiple first-round picks and at least one “elite” player. There are just a few problems with that demand.
Firstly, a trade like that would have been most useful before the draft, when there was at least one immediate draft pick on the table. This would have especially been the case for Chicago, who made just one pick midway through the second round. However, there is also the issue of LaVine’s contract.
LaVine is about to start the second year of a full-guaranteed $215 million contract. His 2023-24 salary is $40 million, equivalent to nearly 30% of the salary cap. So not only would the Bulls have to find someone who would both want LaVine and have adequate capital to give up for LaVine, they would also need to find someone who could take on LaVine’s massive salary. With free agency set to start on Friday, it appears that LaVine will be staying in Chicago for the time being.

Raptors Fielding Multiple Calls About Pascal Siakam
One player who is getting a lot of trade attention is the Raptors’ Pascal Siakam. Per Michael Grange of Sportsnet, the Raptors are fielding calls from at least six teams about the player.
It was previously reported that the Hawks were eager to acquire Siakam, as were the Kings. However, it appears that in the past week, at least four other teams have joined the bidding. The Raptors would reportedly prefer to keep the eighth-year player. However, the right draft package could convince the team, and new head coach Darko Rajaković, to move on from him.
The news comes amid rumors that the Houston Rockets are preparing a massive bid for Fred VanVleet. Per Marc Stein, the Rockets are reportedly willing to offer VanVleet a 2-year, $83.6 million deal in free agency. VanVleet made $85 million over the last four years in Toronto.
