Pop Smoke & Jay Gwuapo’s “Lefty” Arrives In Full

Pop Smoke’s vault has run dry, according to his associates, but there still seem to be a few gems that are due out for an official release. Over the weekend, Pop Smoke affiliate and Brooklyn drill rapper Jay Gwuapo treated fans to the official release of “Lefty.” Snippets of the record began circulating in late 2022 before a full leak emerged. Some variations of the record included contributions from Fivio Foreign, who doesn’t appear on the official release of “Lefty.”

The official version of the record finds Pop Smoke filling the intro and outro while Gwuapo holds down the verse. For those that have been longing for new music from Pop, this might fill the void but ultimately, even his posthumous appearance on the record doesn’t necessarily showcase anything we haven’t heard. However, it’s apparent that Pop’s gruff flow belongs on these types of icy, sinister productions rather than the pop-centric beats that have largely occupied his posthumous albums.

Pop Smoke & Jay Gwuapo Unite On “Lefty”

Ultimately, it looks like there won’t be many posthumous offerings from Pop Smoke in the future. Months after the Brooklyn-bred star died, his label and 50 Cent teamed up for the release of his official debut album, Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon. The body of work emerged as one of the highest-selling albums of 2020 and continued its reign on the charts the following year. In 2021, his team unveiled Faith to lesser success, although fans were still happy to hear unreleased music from the vault.

As for Jay Gwuapo, the rapper hasn’t released a full project since 2019’s From Nothing Pt. 1. However, he released a steady stream of singles since then. In 2023, he came through with “Blue Faces” ft. Asian Doll and also teamed up with Sabathagod and Plexxbaby for “In The City.” Hopefully, he has more music on the way, especially now that he’s dropped “Lefty.” Check out the single above and sound off with your thoughts in the comment section below.

If you are a fan of the Air Jordan 12, then you probably have seen a whole bunch of great releases over the past few years. Overall, Jumpman is trying to give this shoe a bit of a second wind. It is incredibly underrated, however, there are plenty of people out there who appreciate this sneaker. After all, what is not to like? This is the silhouette that birthed the iconic “Flu Game” colorway. Although some might not enjoy the way this sneaker is shaped, others have grown an appreciation for just how unique it is.

Subsequently, in 2023, this shoe is getting a decent amount of new colorways. Although it may not be on the same level as in past years, lovers of this shoe will be greeted with some greatness. In fact, a lot of teasers have been hitting the internet. Consequently, the hype for this silhouette and its new offerings has gone through the roof. This has subsequently prompted Instagram accounts to seek out new photos to share with their followers. For instance, we have this Air Jordan 12 “Field Purple,” down below.

These images come courtesy of @zsneakerheadz, as well as @tanner.and.co. Overall, this is a color blocking we have seen a lot of from Jumpman. It looks a lot like the “Flu Game” model, however, the big difference is how the red is replaced with some purple. Firstly, the upper of the sneaker is mostly filled with black leather. Secondly, the strip of leather that goes from the side panel to the toe box is a nice shade of purple. Lastly, this purple is also found on the midsole.

This shoe is supposedly going to drop for $200 USD on July 29th. However, this release date has yet to be confirmed by Jordan Brand. Either way, this Air Jordan 12 is certainly going to impress a whole lot of people. Let us know what you think of the new colorway, in the comments section below. 50 Cent Distraut On IG After Warriors Beat Kings

50 Cent voiced his disappointment in the Sacramento Kings on Instagram, Sunday, after the team fell 120-100 to the Golden State Warriors in Game 7 of their first-round series. During the game, Steph Curry dropped 50 points to set an NBA record for the most scored in Game 7 of a playoff series.

“This is me after saying Sacramento Kings could beat Golden State,” 50 captioned a photo of himself in a hospital bed. “@stephencurry30 went off the man dropped 50.” One fan in the comments advised 50, “Never bet against Steph.” Another wrote, “That boy Steph is different.”

Curry finished shooting 20-of-38, including 7-18 from three-point range. He also added 8 rebounds and 6 assists. With the victory, the Warriors advance to the second round to take on the Los Angeles Lakers. “We’re defying the odds by still playing at this high of a level,” Curry said. “I know everybody wants to see you fail. That’s kind of the nature of where we’re at right now. We love when we still prove a lot of people wrong. It’s part of our vibe now.”

Of the matchup, Warriors forward Draymond Green described playing LeBron James again as “epic.” “It’s going to be epic,” Green said. “You got Steph, you got Bron doing it all over again.” He added: “But … stop trying to turn the page on us so fast. Stop trying to turn the page on Bron. We get so caught up in what’s the next thing, we don’t appreciate the current. Then you get to the next thing and you’re looking back, like, ‘Man, I wish we still had that. I wish we could still see this.’” The Warriors have played James four times in the NBA Finals over the past eight seasons. Game 1 of the Warriors-Lakers series will tip-off on Tuesday at 10:00 PM, ET.

Lil Durk Claims He’s Blackballed

Lil Durk, one of Chi-towns finest, is one to always speak his mind regardless of the consequences or response. Although he’s got a 10-year tenure in the game, it wasn’t until recently that he started to receive his flowers as a superstar. From classic love songs with Dej Loaf to summer anthems with the 6ix God, Durk’s got range. Lil Durk, along with a slew of others, put the drill music scene on the map. However, with the meteoric rise of Chief Keef, it was hard to see in the beginning. Since the 2010s, The Voice has been doing well for himself. Lil Durk’s grind doesn’t stop.

Moreover, with his features, tours, and community service, it’s clear that Smurk is not just a Chicago rapper, he’s a leader in his community. However, recently, Lil Durk posted on his Instagram story that the grind was long due to extra hurdles. On his story, it read, “I been doing this black balled (laughing emoji),” indicating that the although he’s been putting in the work, the industry is working against him. Being “black balled” isn’t uncommon within the music game (just ask 6ix9ine). However, many artists claim that is the reason why their careers get stunted. Whether you’re Ye West, Tyler The Creator, or Lil Durk the possibility for being blackballed, especially in this day in age of “cancel culture” has risen exponentially.

Lil Durk Speaks On Being Black Balled

When Durk made the post, it raised a ton of eyebrows. Fans and contemporaries alike were puzzled as to who would want to blackball Smurk. The post even prompted comments from Ski Mask the Slump God. He claims that the Chicago native has way too much motion for him to believe that. Not only that, many fans speculated whether or not it was due to his beef with NBA Youngboy.

Looks like the Slump God was right to not believe the post. Later on, Durk posted again saying, “Sike can’t black ball a goat.” Turns out it was all in good fun and pure jokes. Lil Durk wanted us all to stay on our toes. Furthermore, while Smurk isn’t spending time joking on Instagram, he’s taking care of his mental in therapy. Recently Durk revealed that he’s been attending therapy sessions and they help him “cope different,” says the rapper. What do you think of Lil Durk’s claims of being blackballed? How do you feel about him being in therapy? Let us know below.

[WATCH] Actor Tyrin Turner Reveals He Tried To Sabotage The Cult Classic ‘Belly’ After Losing Role To DMX

rico

Actor Tyrin Turner who appeared in the 1998 cult film “Belly,” recently revealed that he tried to sabotage the movie after director Hype Williams gave his role to DMX. Turner sat down with Dub C and CJ Mac and shared he was promised the lead role of Tommy “Buns” Bundy in the film, but Williams changed his mind and gave it to DMX instead. Turner was instead cast as Big Head Rico and feeling angry and disappointed so he revealed he attempted to bring the film down by delivering an intentionally silly performance.
Ironically, his plan backfired as it had the opposite effect. In the interview, Turner explained that he met Hype Williams and was offered the role of DMX’s character in the movie. However, a few months later, Williams informed Turner that DMX would be taking on the role instead. Feeling irritated and upset, Turner decided to sabotage the movie by playing his character in a ridiculous and over-the-top manner. Despite his intentions, the movie went on to become a cult classic and was a commercial success, raking in $9 million at the box office on a $3 million budget.
Turner’s character, Rico, had a memorable scene where he was sloppily munching on a banana while admitting how he was going to “drop a dime.” Despite Turner’s intentions, this scene became an iconic moment in the movie.
“Belly” was Hype Williams’ directorial debut and starred DMX, Nas, Method Man, and other notable hip hop artists. The movie was released in 1998 and had a successful box office run. A sequel, “Belly 2: Millionaire Boyz Club,” was released in 2006.
Fast forward to the 33:16 mark for the tea.

Fyre Fest’s Billy McFarland Wants To Box Ja Rule Now

Fyre Festival founder Billy McFarland has been back in the public eye recently. McFarland, who was released from prison last year, let attendees down with his failed festival, but he also left local workers hanging, who didn’t get the payment they deserved for their contributions to the event. Now, though, McFarland is cooking up a plan to get them their money, and it involves getting in the boxing ring with Ja Rule.

On the April 28 episode of the Off The Record podcast, McFarland chats with host DJ Akademiks. At one point during the conversation, McFarland took a FaceTime call with an associate, who spoke about a potential boxing match between McFarland and Ja Rule. Somebody is apparently willing to pay $350,000 to make a “15-minute” fight between the two happen, which McFarland said would “get every worker in the Bahamas paid back in full,” with neither McFarland or Ja Rule receiving any payment themselves.

As for how that bout would go, McFarland said, “He’ll probably beat me, like 80-percent chance he wins, and that’s fine.”

McFarland, meanwhile, is working on launching another music festival. He explained, “It’s in the best interest of those I owe for me to be working. People aren’t getting paid back if I sit on the couch and watch tv.”
