A video showcasing an attack on a Florida high school employee has led to the arrest of a 17 year-old student. The attack was initiated after the employee took the students’ Nintendo Switch device away, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

The Matanzas High School student has been charged with felony aggravated battery with bodily harm, the sheriff’s office said in a press release.

Following the Palm Coast incident on February 21st, the student was taken into custody and brought to the  Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. He was later turned over to the  state Department of Juvenile Justice, for “becoming violent” while speaking to them after the incident.

according to the news release.

The arrest report describes the teens motives for attack stating that he would “beat her up” every time she took away his game. Joan Naydich has been identified as the employee that underwent the attack, confirmed by her husband Alexander Naydich.

Details of the attack can be deciphered from a surveillance video of the student. The sheriff’s office has released a description of the student saying he stands 6 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs around 270 pounds. He runs toward Naydich and knocks her to the ground. The employee is seen lying motionless as the student punches and kicks her repeatedly before bystanders pull him off of her. Naydich was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Sheriff  Rick Staly said in the release, “The actions of this student are absolutely horrendous and completely uncalled-for. We hope the victim will be able to recover, both mentally and physically, from this incident. Thankfully, students and staff members came to the victim’s aid before the [school resource deputies] could arrive. Our schools should be a safe place – for both employees and students.”

Flagler County Schools on Saturday reported that out of respect for their employee’s privacy, they are withholding commentary on her medical condition at this time.

Trugoy Posthumously Leads The Way On De La Soul And Gorillaz’s New Collaboration, ‘Crocadillaz’

De La Soul member Trugoy The Dove (real name David Jolicoeur) died on February 12 at just 54 years old. The week before, De La Soul had been part of the 10-minute performance commemorating the 50th anniversary of hip-hop at the 2023 Grammys. Collective disbelief and grief permeated the internet once the news hit, from his bandmates Maseo and Posdnuos to Common and Nas.

Gorillaz honored Trugoy more formally today, February 27. The famed animated band dropped a deluxe version of their new album, Cracker Island. One of the new tracks is “Crocadillaz” featuring Dawn Penn and De La Soul, and the first voice heard is Trugoy’s.

“Send a sentiment / Taste a destruction,” he raps over an upbeat loop. Elsewhere, Trugoy intricately balances the benefits of his hard-earned position (“Life is intoxicating, I need a beer”) with the potential pitfalls (“Hypnotized by the crocodile smiles / The exchange is brief but watch for the teeth”).

Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn first acknowledged Trugoy’s passing with an Instagram video on February 13. “A loop for Dave. I love you,” he wrote in the caption.

De La Soul was previously featured on Gorillaz’s Grammy-winning, ubiquitous track “Feel Good Inc.” in 2005.

An official cause of death has not been publicly identified, but as noted in Uproxx’s obituary for Trugoy, he shared he was suffering from congestive heart failure in 2018 and was hospitalized in 2020.

TheBasement LA Returned With Baby Tate, Maeta, And More

TheBasement returned to LA on Wednesday (February 22) with a stacked lineup including a surprise appearance by Atlanta rap standout Baby Tate and the return of burgeoning R&B star Maeta, who last performed at TheBasement in 2018.

The live showcase has been a premiere destination for some of hip-hop and R&B’s breakout artists; in November, Brooklyn native Lola Brooke brought her viral hit “Don’t Play With It” to the West Coast ahead of her ongoing world takeover, while a prior show featured GoGo Morrow and KenTheMan, both breakout stars in their own rights.

Get to know the show’s most recent performers, including Dylan Sinclar, Lil Vada, and Shady Blu, below.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Baby Tate

Baby Tate has been an Uproxx cover artist and a fixture on soundtracks from some of your favorite shows including Insecure. She recently teamed up with Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds on his 2022 album Girls’ Night Out, joining him on The Tonight Show to perform their collaboration, “Don’t Even Think About It.” Tate’s latest mixtape, Mani/Pedi, dropped in September featuring records like “Slut Him Out” and “Ain’t No Love.”

Dylan Sinclair

Canadian singer-songwriter Dylan Sinclair was nominated for a Juno Award for his debut album Proverb in 2021. He’s a soulful presence in the vein of countryman Daniel Caesar, with a smooth vocal delivery and emotive, plainspoken lyrics that clearly evoke the wealth of feelings that pervade modern relationships. His most recent EP, No Longer In The Suburbs, is out now. “I’ve just started performing live shows and I’m enjoying this stage in my career,” he says. “Hope you do too.”

Lil Vada

Pronounced “Vay-dah,” this LA native has a gift for producing some of his hometown’s finest ratchet anthems. He’s been picking up steam over the past month or so as his high-energy reimaginings of 2000s club favorites have gained traction in the streets. He’s got a deceptively straightforward delivery that slots easily into the well-worn swing pocket favored by LA’s current crop of post-gangsta rappers and a sense of playfulness about his menacing boasts. “I want people to understand that my energy is different and my passion for music comes from hunger and the need to make my dad proud,” he says.

Maeta

Returning to TheBasement for the first time since 2018, Maeta wants listeners “to feel unapologetic about their sexuality, mistakes, and feel comforted through the uncertainty of life and love.” Since her last appearance at TheBasement when she was 17 (her first performance ever), she says she’s a “whole new girl” — and her resume since then can back that up. In just the past month, she’s appeared on Vic Mensa’s new single “Strawberry Louis Vuitton” after collaborating with the likes of Ambré, Beam, Buddy, Kaytranada, and more.

Shady Blu

Shady Blu is a walking testament to the power of shooting your shot. A cold email to famed TDE engineer MixedByAli led to a deal with his label getting advice from LA’s rap uncle Snoop Dogg, and a steadily rising presence in the rap game. Her unconventional style will certainly be a draw for fans of TDE’s woozy backpack rap influenced style but she’s also doing her own thing. She wants listeners “to really give the music a chance and listen openly” because “I may say something you feel too.”

Kim Kardashian & Kylie Jenner Are Twinning In Racy Photos

Nearly 16 years have passed since the world began following the Kardashian-Jenner clan on E!’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Viewers watched on as Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, Kendall, and Kylie navigated their grandiose world, which only continues on their new Hulu series and socials. Kylie and Kim seemingly lead the sister pack on Instagram, with a combined 725 million followers to date. Despite not liking the app’s Reels feature, both recently uploaded pics of one another to the delight of many as they sought solace together at a dreamy seaside home.

Kylie Jenner’s caption “you my twin” couldn’t be anything further than the truth. Aside from the not to Drake’s “Treacherous Twins,” fans of the reality stars immediately took note of the sisters’ striking physical similarities. “Crazy how their [physiques] look crazy similar and yet kim is 40 something lol,” wrote @___therealmclovin___. Another commenter chimed in, alleging “it cost Kylie a million dollars to look like Kim” as they pose together in matching black bikinis. Kim Kardashian followed up with more photos of the curvaceous pair from their mini shoot, captioning her post “Twin souls.”

Kim Kardashian And Kylie Jenner Flaunt For The ‘Gram

The sultry photos follow Kylie Jenner’s comments on her female siblings in Vanity Fair Italia. During the interview, the 25-year-old mother of two says Kim Kardashian is her favorite sister at the moment. “It changes over time,” she inserts about her modeling buddy. “Kim has changed so much recently. We are very connected, she is always the first sister I call when I need something. We have been going through a lot of similar experiences lately.”

One can only imagine Kylie is referring to their highly-publicized relationship. They both share children with two hip-hop heavyweights and have simultaneously ended their relationships with them. Unlike Kim and Kanye West, Kylie and Travis Scott remain mum while sites report on their failed relationship via close sources. Just last week, one told OK! ““[Kylie] has no idea what the future holds, but right now she doesn’t see any type of a reconciliation.” The two were first spotted together at Coachella in April 2017, going on to have their first child, Stormi, less than one year later.

Boosie Badazz Dishes Homophobic Insults After Terrance “Gangsta” Williams Suggests He’s A Snitch

Boosie Badazz made two enemies when he called out T.I. over the video clip surrounding his late cousin. Terrance “Gangsta” Williams, Birdman’s half-brother, put Boosie on blast for referring to T.I. as a rat for his supposed hypothetical story about pinning a gun charge on his dead cousin. Ultimately, this led to a back-and-forth between Boosie, T.I., and Williams, who recently dug up some footage of Boosie to paint him as a hypocrite.

Williams shared a video of Boosie discussing charges against the Biloxi police, who he believed robbed him of $1M worth of jewelry. “We’re getting all our private investigators to go down there, build our case. It’s a criminal case and a civil case,” Boosie said in the clip. “This is only the beginning.” For someone who frequently disavows snitches, Terrance Williams questioned whether his stance on cooperating with authorities stands in this instance.

Boosie Badazz Vs. Terrance “Gangsta” Williams

Shortly after T.I. called out Boosie for failing to show up to verify his paperwork, Terrance Williams asked whether Boosie’s criminal case towards the police counted as snitching. “I understand the civil case , but do real street Steppas get a pass when they give statements on criminal cases? Is this the only time they can get on the stand and it will be okay sending someone to jail?” he captioned the post. It didn’t take long for fans to point out the difference between Boosie’s case against the police and those involved in the streets cooperating with authorities.

Boosie didn’t hesitate to chime in on the matter, dishing out homophobic insults to Williams to strip him of his street credibility. The Louisiana rapper shared an old photo of Terrance Williams sitting on the lap of a man. “You a ponk n a certified rat,” he wrote. “You was n Yazoo getting f*cked n f*cking n***as… Boy you a bitch.” Afterward, he stated that the city of New Orleans should denounce Williams entirely. “New Orleans should band this dude!! This is the worst kinda n***a!! He a rat, a family snake n homosexual playin’ gangster,” Boosie wrote. At this point, Williams has yet to respond but we’ll keep you posted if he does.
