Tyler The Creator Admires The Honesty Of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers’

Throughout Tyler, The Creator’s career, which has seen him evolve from highly controversial to mature and versatile, one resounding theme is his unbridled honesty. Whether it comes through in his raps or his interviews, the former Odd Future leader always tells it like it is. Thus, it only makes sense that the Call Me If You Get Lost artist took a liking to the honesty on one of the biggest releases of this year, Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, per his recent conversation at the 2022 Converse All Star Series in Paris.

The initial conversation was about vulnerability and Tyler took it a step further by highlighting the two-disc LP that was released in May. “I love that album, but I feel like he touches on sh*t that’s so, like, open and honest that some people can’t listen to it because they probably feel like he’s looking at them in their eyes and they’re like ‘Oh, I can’t panic. Uh, I can’t listen to this. Put on something else so I can hit my dougie.’ And keep forgetting and numbing the sh*t he’s talking about.”

Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers generated a lot of conversation for tracks like “Savior” where Kendrick attempts to remove himself from the pedestal he was put on, “Father Time” where he addresses how Drake and Kanye West’s reconciliation came off as odd to him due to his need to mature some more, and of course, “Auntie Diaries” where he unloads the clip of a certain queer slur while also addressing his family members’ gender transitions in a way that split the LGBTQIA+ community.

Our community, specifically within the internet, often struggles with accepting someone else’s truth, especially when delivered in a way they don’t like (not to justify the use of the aforementioned slurs.) Still, K. Dot overall received some positive reviews and Tyler is understandably within that camp.

Logic Discusses His Collaborations On “Vinyl Days” & Buying A Charizard Card For $180k

Logic is no stranger to collaborating with some of the biggest names in hip-hop, having worked with Eminem, Wu-Tang Clan, J. Cole, and more, however, he says he’s gotten much more comfortable doing so in recent years. Speaking with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, following the release of his new album, Vinyl Days, Logic explained that retirement has given him a new perspective on competition in music.

“Different people to reach out, I would be scared that they wouldn’t reciprocate that. Once I retired, I was like, well, Logic, this is unimportant. Now I’m just a guy who can just be a fan of somebody. It’s not some competition. Now when I reach out to people, it’s just like, who gives it?” Logic told the outlet.

He continued: “I’ll be like, ‘Hey, I really like you,’ and they’ll be like, ‘I like you too, man.’ Then boom, you’re friends. That’s awesome. When I met Action for the first time, I’m just like, damn. Action’s just like, ‘The weed God.’ Probably doesn’t even know I exist. Yeah, Bronson’s the man, but I think, yeah, I was scared. I don’t know. I’d always been scared. Then in my retirement, that’s when I’m just reaching out to legends and people I love and I’m like, ‘Hey, want to work together or want to hang out? Want to just be friends, want to go get sushi? Want to this?'”

Vinyl Days was released on June 17 and features guest appearances from  Wiz Khalifa, Action Bronson, Russ, The Game, Royce da 5’9, RZA, and more. The project is Logic’s first studio album since coming out of retirement. He previously dropped the mixtape, Bobby Tarantino III.

Later in his interview with Apple Music, Logic also discussed purchasing a Charizard card that is now worth $500,000.

“I’ve flipped this Charizard card,” Logic explained. “I bought it for, technically before inflation of sale cost at the auction and everything, $181,000. It’s worth half a million dollars now. It’s like Bitcoin, you know what I mean? I got into Bitcoin a little late too. I’m glad I got in it when I did. It was before the craze, craze, but my friend was hitting me up. He’s like, ‘Yeah man, there’s this fake money that’s not really money. It’s ones and zeros. You should spend all your money on it.’ I’m like what? It doesn’t really make sense unless do the due diligence to invest your time in understanding it.”

Nipsey Hussle’s Last Words Detailed During Testimony by Man Injured in Same Shooting

Juice WRLD and Nipsey Hussle To Be Posthumously Featured on Maroon 5's Forthcoming Album

The Nipsey Hussle murder trial is underway and one of the first witnesses was Shermi Villanueva, a 47-year-old who was also injured in the parking lot of The Marathon Store.

During Villanueva’s testimony, the last words of Nipsey Hussle were recounted.

“’He shot me. He shot me,’” Villanueva said he heard Hussle say. “I heard it, and then I saw Nipsey fall. When I looked and see Nipsey, I started to run.”

Prosecutors state Hussle’s killer, Eric Holder was once considered a friend of the rapper and used two guns in the shooting. Holder opened fire on Hussle after going to eat lunch. Holder’s attorneys are not arguing that the murder is not premeditated. Holder is facing one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Snoop Dogg Tells Martha Stewart He Smokes 15-25 “Special Cigarettes” a Day

Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart Recreate 'Titanic' Scene

If there are two things you know Snoop Dogg for, it’s his music and his love for marijuana. In fact, it’s basically a part of his entire brand and has been since his days as an artist on Death Row.

On the other hand, in the last decade or so, Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart have become the duo we never thought we needed. As the businesswoman and tv personality readies the pilot episode for her upcoming podcast, The Martha Stewart Podcast, Snoop Dogg shares in a preview just how many “special cigarettes” he smokes a day.

“The question they’re going to ask is whether or not Snoop is smoking. Can you tell me how many of those special cigarettes you smoke a day do you think?” Martha asks.

Snoop replied, saying  “It depends. When I’m shooting television, maybe about 15 a day. But when I’m making music, probably about 25 and the thing is when I’m with Martha, she’s the secondhand queen. I make sure she gets all the secondhand smoke.”

Martha responded by saying that contrary to popular belief, the secondhand smoke makes her concentrate more when she’s around Snoop.

“That is the only time I get that fabulous secondhand smoke. And I must tell you, it makes me feel really good. And it does not disturb my concentration. In fact, I think it makes it even better and it doesn’t make me tired or any of the things that people say marijuana does to you. It’s fantastic. I think it’s great.”

In previous years, Snoop has revealed that he smokes more than 15-25 blunts a day. In a 2012 Reddit conversation, Snoop said that he rolls 81 blunts a day. He also added that the longest he has gone without smoking is 164 days.

“The longest I’ve ever been off is 164 days and muthafuckas say that’s a great answer. But the better question is, when was it when I first started smoking and how long was my life before I took my first pull? That’s the question I pose to you, Reddit.”

You can check out a preview of the podcast below. The Martha Stewart Podcast premieres today, June 22, on the iHeartRadio network.

Joe Budden and Vince Staples Debate Whether Drake’s Album “Pushes Us Closer to the Elimination of Rap Music”

Joe Budden Celebrates Top 50 Podcast Ranking: "Independent. No Backing. Black Owned."

Drake might have dropped the most divisive album for a hip-hop artist since Kanye dropped Yeezus in 2013. Both albums signaled a musical shift in the artist’s career and public reaction was split upon both albums’ release. However, over time, Yeezus has grown on many people, with the sound of hip-hop music having changed so drastically in the last decade. Only time will tell with Honestly, Nevermind.

Drizzy’s shift in sound is nothing new as he’s released songs like the ones found on his recent album in the past with “Passionfruit” off of More Life, and “One Dance” off of Views. However, this shift in sound has sparked conversations about the future of rap music.

On a recent episode of the Joe Budden Podcast, Joe called Long Beach MC, Vince Staples where the two discussed if Drake’s newest album “pushes us closer to the elimination of rap music.”

“You think Drake putting out a dance album gets us closer to the elimination of rap music as a whole?” Budden asked.

Vince responded, talking about how his 2017 album, Big Fish Theory, received backlash from a lot of fans because of its experimental sound, and how eventually, rap will eventually fade away “because the internet pushes everything into the same bubble.’

“Music has always been very visual,” Staples responded. “When I think about artists, visual things pop up… Michael Jackson it’s the moonwalk and 2Pac it’s a lot of aesthetic things. Of course, it’s the music, but the thing is we’re visual people”

Vince added, “When you think about where music is headed, everything is Instagram, everything looks the same, moves the same, dresses the same and talks the same. The genre sh*t is going to have to go out the window eventually. It’s too hard to separate culture because the internet has kinda pushed everything into the same little bubble.”

You can watch the full episode below. Their conversation starts around the 1:57:00 mark.

Bobby Shmurda Goes Off On Producers Overcharging Him For Beats: “It Can’t Be That Bad Outside”

Bobby Shmurda

Bobby Shmurda was released from prison in February of last year after serving six years behind bars. Since his release, Shmurda has released a string of singles, but no project. Now, it looks like he’s trying to heat the summer up, but there’s one thing standing in his way: producers and beatmakers.

In a video posted on Instagram, Bobby goes off on producers and beatmakers for overcharging him for beats, saying that “it can’t be that bad outside.”

“These producers is giving me the hardest time right now,” said Shmurda. “I never seen no sh*t like this before. I remember these — it can’t be that bad outside, my n*gga.”

Shmurda continued, saying “I done made over half a million for the year, can’t be that bad outside. “I’m trying to drop my project, but these n*gga is asking me clearances and these f*ckin’ producers are asking for some crazy sh*t. I don’t know what rumors is going around, they think, ‘Oh Bobby just droppin’ bags, this, that, whatever.’ Givin’ no n*ggas $10,000, $8,000 for no f*ckin’ producer.”

Producers and beatmakers aren’t the only people that Shmurda has a problem with. The rapper aired out his grievances with artists who send him songs with too many people on it.

“Who the f*ck told you n*ggas to f*cking make songs with 10 muthaf*ckers on the song b*tch n*gga, f*ck you sending me? Those bumass n*ggas be sending me shit like that with like 10 n*ggas on the song, bro. Don’t play me bro.”

Tom Brady Calls Pusha T’s ‘It’s Almost Dry’ Album Of The Year

Tom Brady NFL

Pusha-T isn’t the only one saying that It’s Almost Dry is the album of the year.

Tom Brady used Pusha T’s Kanye-produced song “Dreaming Of The Past” as background music in a promotional video for his new apparel line, BRADY Run. Push then responded to the video, once again declaring It’s Almost Dry, rap album of the year.

“Wow, @TomBrady really listening to the rap album of the year!!!” Push Tweeted. “#ItsAlmostDry#DreamingOfThePast !! Check him out…”

Tom Brady, who in recent years has been more active on social media and developing a brand outside of football, gave Push a cosign, tweeting that the Virginia Beach MC’s latest album is in fact, “Album Of The Year!”

Push then took to Instagram where he posted Brady’s cosign, with the caption “BRADY SAID WHAT HE SAID!!”

While this might be Push’s first major cosign from someone outside of music, this certainly isn’t the first time Push has given the “album of the year” distinction to It’s Almost Dry.

During his concert at The Novo in Los Angeles, last month, Push declared his Pharrell and Kanye-produced album, “rap album of the motherf*cking year,” adding “they can’t f*ck with me!” It’s Almost Dry also became Push’s first #1 charting album having sold 50k copies in its first week.
