SOURCE SPORTS: Colin Kaepernick To Be Honorary Captain for Michigan’s Spring Game

TMZ reports that the production team for Colin Kaepernick's Netflix series had to enforce extra security measures after being threatened by the Proud Boys.

Collin Kaepernick was back on the football field this week. While it wasn’t an NFL field, Kaepernick visited his former San Francisco 49ers’ head coach John Harbaugh.

The Michigan Wolverines announced Wednesday that Kaepernick has been with the team this week and will serve as honorary captain for Saturday’s spring game.

Harbaugh has named Kaepernick an honorary captain for Michigan’s upcoming Maize and Blue spring game. Harbaugh brought Kaepernick to Michigan’s practice yesterday and had him address the team.

Harbaugh was the 49ers’ head coach when they drafted him in 2011, and after Harbaugh benched Alex Smith for Kaepernick in 2012, the 49ers went to the Super Bowl. Kaepernick played his best football for Harbaugh in the four years they were together, and Kaepernick didn’t have as much success with the 49ers the next two years.

Harbaugh has always been a loud supporter of Kaepernick. He has always expressed to the media how Kaepernick is a great leader on and off the football field. While NFL teams haven’t shown much interest in Kaepernick, he is still putting in that work.

First Dolemite, and now George Clinton.

According to Deadline, Eddie Murphy is currently in early talks to play Parliament-Funkadelic founder George Clinton in an upcoming biopic. Murphy is also set to serve as a producer on the project with Dolemite Is My Name collaborator John Davis and Catherine Davis.

Murphy and Davis are currently looking at securing the rights to bring the P-Funk founder’s life to the big screen. Once the rights are secured, they will hire writers and shop the project to different studios. The project is a part of Murphy’s three-movie deals with Amazon Video that came after the success of Coming 2 America.

The film focuses on Clinton’s upbringing in North Carolina in the 1940s and will show the formation of Parliament-Funkadelic and the band’s impact on hip hop artists such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, 2Pac, and Ice Cube.

Murphy’s upcoming George Clinton project is a “passion project” for him. Murphy took a few years from acting before returning with 2019’s Dolemite Is My Name. Murphy garnered acclaim for his portrayal of Rudy Ray Moore and even received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor. Murphy is set to appear in Netflix’s You People later this year, directed by Kenya Barris and co-written by Jonah Hill. The star-studded cast includes Lauren London, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David Duchovny, Nia Long, Sam Jay, and Molly Gordon.

Murphy is also set to reprise his role as Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop IV.

Will Packer Says That LAPD Was Ready to Arrest Will Smith After He Slapped Chris Rock

Will Packer

As the Will Smith and Chris Rock incident continues to unfold, more details about the aftermath continue to be revealed. Some reports were later denied claiming that The Academy had asked Will Smith to leave after slapping Rock on stage. The LAPD also asked Rock if he would like to have pressed charges on Smith, to which he declined.

In a preview of an upcoming interview with Good Morning America, Will Packer says that the LAPD was “fully prepared” to arrest Will Smith after he slapped Chris Rock on stage.

“They were saying, you know, this is battery, was a word they used in that moment. They said we will go get him. We are prepared. We’re prepared to get him right now. You can press charges, we can arrest him,” Packer said of the situation. “They were laying out the options. And as they were talking, Chris was — he was being very dismissive of those options. He was like, ‘No, no, no, I’m fine.’ And even to the point where I said, ‘Rock, let them finish.’ The LAPD officers finished laying out what his options were, and they said, ‘Would you like us to take any action?’ And he said ‘no.’ He said ‘no.’”

You can watch the preview for the interview below. The interview airs on GMA today.
