J. Cole, J.I.D, Kenny Mason & Sheck Wes Come Out Swinging On “Stick”

Dreamville’s done it again. The J. Cole-led record label announced D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape on Wednesday night before unveiling the project in its entirety less than 24 hours later. The crew came out shining on the surprise project that now enters Dreamville into the illustrious Gangsta Grillz catalog.

Cole and co. do not hold back on this project, as evident as the intro track, “Stick.” J. Cole and J.I.D join forces with Sheck Wes and Kenny Mason whose penchant for rock is just as fruitful as his bars over the apocalyptic horns that descend over murderous 808s. Undoubtedly the star of the intro track, he swaps bars with J.I.D, further proving that his strength lies within his versatility.

Sheck Wes verse cranks the energy up even higher but more importantly, sets the stage for J. Cole to prove that there are few rappers who are of his caliber. While he’s still riding high off of the release of the Grammy-nominated The Off-Season, he’s rapping with a chip on his shoulder. It’s in these moments that Cole delivers his most gripping performances.

Check the song below and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.

Quotable Lyrics
Let off the whole fuckin’ clip, leave a vacancy (Bah, bah, bah, bah)
I’m ’bout that two with the six, so I’m basically
Reppin’ more shooters than Rich Paul’s agency
They get to clutchin’, you best get to duckin’ like 6’7″ n***as that’s dunkin’ for Oregon
Money so long, if I start in the south and then spread this shit out, it’d be touchin’ like Portland

Kevin Durant Claps Back At Nick Wright After Giannis Hot Take

Kevin Durant had a very important matchup last night as his Brooklyn Nets took on the Milwaukee Bucks. In the end, the Nets lost the game in overtime thanks to the heroics of Giannis Antetokounmpo who was on an absolute tear for the entire evening. Giannis ended the game with 44 points, all while KD had 26. Needless to say, it wasn’t KD’s best showing of the season, especially against a rival team.

After the game, KD was subjected to some slander, especially from none other than Nick Wright, who took to Twitter and said “I legit feel for KD… he had to be 2nd best to LeBron for a decade and the MOMENT he might’ve passed LeBron, Giannis passed him. 2nd player out of high school. 2nd pick in the draft. 2nd best player in the NBA for life. Legit awful luck.”

KD has proven himself to be the king of NBA Twitter, and as a result, he did not let this slander go unnoticed. In the reply below, KD clapped back at Wright and said “Don’t feel bad for the god. Life has been incredible little Nicky.” For some, this might come across as a bit of a cope, although Wright has been a Durant detractor for years, so it probably felt good for Durant to get this one-off.

Regardless, this loss was one that the Nets were hoping to avoid as it almost ensures that they will be stuck in play-in game territory once the postseason rolls around.

You can check out some of the highlights from the game, down below.

NBA Youngboy & P Yungin Team Up On “Pull Up Actin”

Regardless of your stance on his music, NBA Youngboy remains one of the hardest-working rappers in the game. With one of the most prolific outputs of his generation of artists, his legal headaches haven’t dampened his momentum. Youngboy Never Broke Again announced his new project, The Last Slimeto which will serve as his third release in 2022 following Colors and BETTER THAN YOU with DaBaby.

This week, he came through with a heap of new music including his latest collaboration with P Yungin. The two rappers collide on “Pull Up Actin,” a sleek Southern banger fueled by a fiery performance from NBA Youngboy and P Yungin. Through menacing bars asserting their status in the game, NBA Youngboy and P Yungin serve a solid reminder of the Never Broke Again roster’s weight in hip-hop right now.

Check out the latest record below.

Quotable Lyrics
I’m with youngins and they bleed
Can’t drive the Rolls, I’m full of Xans so we smashin’ the coupe
Big chains on beaming like Zaytiggy let it boom
Big rings on, fuck that flower, throw him to the grooms

Joyner Lucas Channels Kanye West On New Single “Ye Not Crazy”

Joyner Lucas is known for being one of the most lyrical rappers in the game right now. While he is certainly a polarizing figure, you definitely cannot deny his talent and his penmanship. Having said that, Joyner decided to release a brand new track on Friday which is actually an homage to none other than Kanye West.

“Ye Not Crazy” sees Lucas offering up some braggadocios bars, all while he muses about going on the same types of tangents as Kanye. Joyner sees a bit of himself in Kanye, and if one person messes with him, he might have to act up just like Kanye has been doing. It’s a pretty solid track and it features all of the lyrical prowess that Joyner is known for.

Let us know what you think, in the comments down below.

Quotable Lyrics:

Hold up (Hold up, hold up), Ye’s not crazy (Ye’s not crazy)
Even if they to try cancel me, that ain’t gon’ phase me (Ain’t gon’ phase me)
Yeah, I sin, God forgave me (God forgave me)
How the fuck I’m gon’ change the world if they gon’ change me?

[WATCH] Phife Dawg Releases "Forever" Music Video

The famous MC Phife Dawg’s estate is proud to present the very unique music video for the tune “Forever.”

“When I first heard ‘Forever’, I was not prepared for the depth and honesty, it took me a long time to let it all sink in,” said video director Tony Reames. “DJ Rasta Root came up with the idea of personal photos and videos to match the message for the video. The lyrics are also all in Phife’s own handwriting, we scanned in a lot of his writings to create a font as if Phife himself was telling you the story. I’m forever grateful to be around Phife, his family and everyone we met along the way.”

Dion “DJ Rasta Root” Liverpool added, “I felt like a song as powerful as Forever had to have a video. Thanks to Tony Reames, who directed most of Phife’s videos, we were able to complete this to round off the album’s third single.”

Reebok to Celebrate Shaquille O’Neal with Shaqnosis “Athlete’s Choice” Sneaker

Shaqnosis Basketball Shoes White GX9663 03 standard

Reebok is set to release the Shaqnosis “Athlete’s Choice,” which is inspired by Shaq’s “Big Aristotle” alias and ancient Greece. The sneaker will release exclusively on Reebok.com on April 8 at $150.

Shaq earned the moniker “Big Aristotle” after his MVP campaign in 2000. The Shaqnosis “Athlete’s Choice” design draws inspiration from classic Aristotle artworks, sculptures, and ancient Greek culture through texture, substance, and color.

The sneaker has a marble base inspired by statues and sculptures, with desaturated color and contrast comparable to antique paintings. Natural fibers on the upper body are reminiscent of Ancient Greek clothing and robes. The purple heel is a nod to the color purple, which in Ancient Greece was associated with social status and wealth.

The first-known ideas of color were developed by Aristotle. Colors were assigned to earth, fire, wind, and water, and he proposed that all color originated with white and black.

You can see the sneaker below.

Snoop Dogg Says Dr. Dre’s ‘The Chronic’ Is Back at Death Row Records

Screen Shot 2022 04 01 at 9.26.01 AM

After much talk about the future of Death Row Records in the hands of West Coast legend and former label signee Snoop Dogg, the talk of the imprint being the first NFT label continues, but one of the label’s biggest album’s is back home.

According to Snoop, “As far as 2Pac’s masters, 2Pac’s masters came back to him last year. But I got a great relationship with his estate, and I’m pretty sure we’re going to be able to work something out … to continue some Death Row 2Pac business now that Snoop Dogg is in control of Death Row. Same with Dr. Dre and The Chronic. I got The Chronic album. I got Doggystyle, Tha Doggfather, Murder Was the Case, Dogg Food, Above the Rim. I got all those records.”

Dr .Dre’s attorney released a statement saying that the Hip Hop mogul owns the rights to his biggest album to date. “There are false reports out regarding ownership by Death Row of Dr. Dre’s The Chronic. Dr. Dre owns 100 percent of The Chronic,” said Howard King.
