Monaleo Throws A One-Woman Party In Her ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Performance Of ‘Happy Birthday’

Monaleo makes her UPROXX Sessions debut this week with her new single “Happy Birthday” (alternatively known as “Crying On Your Birthday”). We also see the return of props, as Monaleo brings a party horn and hat to her session to really complement the theme of her song.

Flipping the well-known tune of “Happy Birthday To You,” Monaleo delivers what she calls “an empowerment song I wrote to denounce the stigma against all girls crying on their birthdays. Whether it be because your man didn’t do what he was supposed to, the plans aren’t going right, your outfit didn’t come in. Whatever it is that’s causing you not to enjoy the only day that’s supposed to be about you, shake it off! ‘Crying On Your Birthday’ is a fun, hype song to play on your birthday or any day that you aren’t feeling like the amazing woman that you are.”

The Houston rapper had a big viral moment a couple of years ago with “Beating Down Yo Block,” her breakout single which racked up nearly 30 million views on YouTube and over 35 million streams on Spotify. She carried that momentum through to 2023 with the Flo Milli collab “We Not Humpin’ (Remix)” and a tour with the Alabama native. In May this year, she released her debut album, Where The Flowers Don’t Die, again collaborating with Flo Milli.

Diddy Accused By Diageo Of Working Against Other Black-Owned Businesses

Diddy and liquor company Diageo are locked in a nasty lawsuit right now, with both alleging mismanagement, a poor working relationship, and lack of support against each other. Moreover, Sean Combs sued the spirits conglomerate back in May of 2023, with whom he masterminded Ciroc vodka in 2007 and DeLeón tequila in 2013. While Ciroc was a resounding success for both, DeLeón was less so, and his lawsuit alleged that Diageo was racist in promoting Ciroc and DeLeón to solely urban markets, instead favoring white-backed brands like George Clooney’s Casamigos. However, now the company claims that Puff Daddy, through his Combs Wine and Spirits company (CWS) that partnered with them, engaged in some racial discrimination of his own despite his philanthropic image.

Furthermore, according to legal documents obtained by AllHipHop, Diageo stated that Diddy “discouraged Diageo from working with other Black business people and influencers. [He] demanded that Diageo redirect millions of dollars earmarked to support such causes to him personally.” Not only that, but they claim that the Bad Boy mogul went ballistic when the company donated $100 million to COVID-19 hospital workers.

“Mr. Combs demanded that Diageo pay him $100 million,” the company levied in their most recent filing. [He] threatened then to ‘reach out to every news outlet’ to ‘burn the house down’ and cause maximum damage to Diageo and the DeLeón brand by making public accusations of racism if Diageo refused to write the check.” Overall, the history between these two entities is long, contentious, and skewed in both’s eyes. Despite this pushback, Diddy’s lawyer John C. Hueston dismissed all accusations against him by the liquor company in a statement to AllHipHop on Friday (September 29).

“Diageo claims its executives were available to hear all of Mr. Combs concerns about race and diversity issues,” Hueston began. “The sad truth is that they never truly listened to what Mr. Combs was saying and brushed them off as threats and demands for money. In his remarks, he invoked the principle of “innocent until proven guilty” and how that’s flipped in his eyes as people aim to “destroy” his life.

“There needs to be, obviously, a conviction here,” Elon Musk said of Russell Brand on Thursday (September 28). “It can’t be guilty until proven innocent. Because, obviously, we’re just sort of in the witch burning phase here. Just being declared a witch is enough to make you a witch and be burnt. Seems like an odd coincidence that it’s happening when Russell is really gaining traction, questioning a lot of the conventional wisdom. I think we’re running out of conspiracy theories that didn’t turn out to be true.”

Sixers Emerge As Front-Runner For Jrue Holiday

The Philadelphia 76ers have emerged as a front-runner for Jrue Holiday. The rumors comes courtesy of Shams Charania, who dialed into The Pat McAfee Show. “Philadelphia has interest in him, and Philadelphia is going to be going hard at him. So, James Harden would have to be a part of a transaction like that,” Charania told McAfee. Holiday was originally drafted by the Sixers back in 2009 and played with the team until 2013.

It’s certainly an interesting proposal and would solve the ongoing dispute that the Sixers have with James Harden. Furthermore, users on social media theorize that the trade would also involve the Clippers, who were the only team that Harden was being traded to earlier in the offseason. Holiday is suddenly on the market after being included in the Damian Lillard trade. However, it’s unlikely Holiday is likely to remain in the Pacific Northwest as Portland is happy with their complement of young guards.

For much of the offseason, the Lillard trade, or lack of one, had the rest of the league in a holding position. Now, with Dame in Milwaukee, the rest of the league can resume business. With Harden seemingly off the table, Holiday has become a primary focus for contending teams. Despite turning 33 earlier this year, he remains a solid contributor. He had 19.3 points in 67 games last season, his highest average since the 19/20 season.

However, Holiday’s departure from the Bucks was mourned by his friend and teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo. “Jrue is my fucking brother for life. I love his family, I love him.
