U.S. Government Seeks $64 Million From Fugees’ Pras Over Financial Crimes Conviction

The government seeks the seizure of over $64 million from Pras of the Fuguees after his conviction on financial charges. Federal prosecutors argue the funds stem from illegal lobbying efforts and fraudulent schemes designed to bypass U.S. financial systems. In a motion filed in Washington, D.C., prosecutors requested a forfeiture judgment of $64,923,226.40. They claim the amount represents funds funneled into Pras’ accounts through covert operations. The news follows Pras’s attempt to sue Lauryn Hill for canceling their anticipated reunion tour. Hill canceled the tour over the summer for unforeseen reasons.

The case centers on Pras’ relationship with Jho Low, the fugitive Malaysian financier at the heart of the 1MDB embezzlement scandal. Prosecutors allege that Pras received roughly $104 million from Low to influence U.S. government officials. This effort included lobbying for the dismissal of a Justice Department investigation into Low’s activities and pushing for the extradition of a Chinese dissident at Beijing’s request. Court filings reveal that Pras concealed the origins of the funds using a network of shell companies, fake contracts, and fraudulent financial agreements. Prosecutors allege that Pras worked with co-conspirators. They reportedly orchestrated a scheme to access U.S. banks.

The U.S. Wants To Seize $64 Million From Pras

“Michel and Higginbotham created fake contracts and agreements and repeatedly lied to financial institutions to fraudulently obtain access to $104.24 million from Low,” prosecutors stated in court documents. Pras’s trial, one of the most high-profile celebrity cases involving foreign lobbying, exposed the intricate connections between global financial crime, politics, and pop culture. The Fugees group member has been curious about his future and spoke candidly about it in November.

The $64 million represents funds the government has not yet recovered from the criminal activities linked to Pras. Prosecutors argue that federal law mandates the forfeiture of proceeds from criminal conduct, citing his alleged money laundering. Pras faces a potential prison sentence of up to 20 years. Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean have continued to flourish in music with new music and performances.

SZA Can Not Believe Her Martin Scorsese Name-Drop, Earned Her A Subtle Co-Sign From The Filmmaker Himself

It appears SZA is grateful she abandoned her intergalactic trip to Saturn. Yesterday (December 20), after a slight hiccup SOS Deluxe: Lana was finally uploaded to streaming platforms. Among the 15 new tracks, SZA couldn’t help but make yet another movie reference. On the first installment of the musical series, Quentin Tarantino’s 2003 hit Kill Bill was her film fix.

But now SZA is all about coveted filmmaker Martin Scorsese, and he is all for it. Over on Instagram, Scorsese’s daughter Francesca shared a subtle stamp of approval from her and her dad. With a photo of her father (viewable here), Francesca used SZA’s track “Scorsese Baby Daddy” that name-drops Martin along with the caption: “SZA, Queen sh*t”

Well, shortly after SZA shared her geeked about reaction to the show of love. “The fact that this isn’t AI, and it is actually Martin Scorsese 😭,” SZA wrote in her repost.

Although the song doesn’t reference any of Scorsese’s award-winning films, it does something even better—hail Scorsese has the king of dramas.

“I rolled up all my problems / And then I smoked about it / I could’ve called my mom up / I’d rather f*ck about it / Addicted to the drama / Scorsese baby daddy / Right there, just a little further down / Got a brand new reason to spiral out / Bad mood, baby, come work me out / Oh, I’ma crash out, baby, don’t slow me do,” she sings.

Given that SZA’s recent interaction with Ben Stiller online led to him starring in the music video for “Drive,” this could be the start of an epic visual saga.

Lil Baby Says ‘WHAM (Who Hard As Me)’ Will Not Be The Only Album He Releases In 2025

After mustering through a rocky 2023, this year Lil Baby took some much needed ‘me time’ to creatively regroup. Next, year the “Touchdown” rapper plans on treating supporters to what he crafted during his hiatus.

While, Lil Baby already announced his upcoming album, WHAM (Who Hard As Me), this isn’t the only project he has tucked away.

During an appearance on Lil Yachty’s A Safe Place podcast, Lil Baby confirmed that he will release two full length albums in 2025.

“At first, I was telling people I was going to drop a double album,” he said. “Now, I’m dropping the ‘WHAM’ album and ‘Dominique’ album.”

So far, the tracklist for WHAM (Who Hard As Me) has been revealed. But Lil Baby has not yet teased anything about Dominique. But later in the conversation, Lil Baby outlined what will separate the two bodies of work.

“’WHAM’ is more me on some young n**** sh*t — fast cars, girls, jewelry, money,” he said. “You know, the turnt lifestyle. And ‘Dominique’ is more the serious me, more personal. That’s a part of the new journey I’m on. I hate the word vulnerable, but I’m gonna be more open to my fans and my audience.”

But there will be slight crossover between the album. “I still put some of the songs I was gonna use for ‘Dominique’ on ‘WHAM’ [be]cause I know my fan base really want to hear them certain songs,” added Lil Baby.

O’Shea Jackson Jr Still Thinks Andrew Schulz’s Kendrick Lamar Rant Was “Weird”

In November, Kendrick Lamar unleashed his album GNX by surprise, and fans were quick to notice a vague reference in his track “wacced out murals.” In the song, he calls out an unnamed white comedian for talking about Black women. “Don’t let no white comedian talk about no Black woman, that’s law,” he raps. Immediately, listeners began to theorize that he was referring to Andrew Schulz, who had recently come under fire for perpetuating negative stereotypes about Black women on his podcast.

Schulz proceeded to respond to this theory, arguing that Kendrick is worried about protecting Black women from the wrong people. He also went on a rant about how he could sexually assault the Compton rapper if he wanted to, which for obvious reasons, raised some eyebrows. Countless social media users and peers weighed in on the controversy. While some came to his defense, others thought he crossed a line.

O’Shea Jackson Jr Reflects On X Spat With Andrew Schulz

Ice Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson Jr was among them, and promptly took to X to share his take. “Weird a** n***a,” he said of Schulz. “Man how people change on some weird sh*t. I was a fan.” Schulz responded by encouraging him to look up his father’s song “No Vaseline,” but Jackson Jr took the opportunity to set the record straight. “A metaphor about getting f*cked business wise by your manager Is not the same homie. He ain’t call you a b*tch. He ain’t say f*ck you. Didn’t even say your name. And your response was buck breaking. Sh*t was just cr*zy.”

Now, during a recent appearance on The Morning Hustle, Jackson Jr has doubled down. “It was weird,” he said simply. “I ain’t have no soapbox moment, I ain’t write a paragraph about the man. I don’t know why my statement had so much weight to it… Three words and a period. It was a weird thing to say.”

Snoop Dogg Claims To “Love The Hate And The Love” For His “Missionary” Album Amid Mixed Reception

Just over a week ago, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre rekindled their chemistry for a full-length effort in Missionary. The project is pretty much a follow-up to 1993’s Doggystyle, one of the West Coast’s sure-fire classic hip-hop records. Overall, the hype was real for this project due to their past collaborations that still have that timeless feel. Additionally, a lot of the other “old head” MCs had been releasing some solid comeback albums. So, with that in mind, why couldn’t Snoop and Dre do the same? Well, in the eyes of the fans, they did right with Missionary.

However, from a critic’s perspective, the same cannot entirely be said. If you scour the internet for reviews, a majority of them are generally mixed on the final product. Current sales projections are pretty reflective of the “experts’” opinions as its looking like it will move around 36,000 equivalent album units. It’s still good enough for a Billboard Hot 200 entry, but nowhere near where it possibly should’ve wound up. Despite all of this though, Snoop Dogg seems to be pretty unbothered.

A post shared by snoopdogg (@snoopdogg)

According to HipHopDX, Unc recently posted a short rebuttal on his Instagram to both the loyal supporters of his and the harsher pundits. “First of all, thank y’all for the support for Missionary. Long time coming. Love the reception but let me say this. I’ve been watching podcasts and people doing reviews – a couple of them specifically where they started off saying, ‘I wasn’t into this album, I don’t like Snoop Dogg, I wasn’t anticipating this, I don’t care…’ Really just listening just to listen. Started off hating,” he began.

“Get to song three/four, demeanor change a little bit. By the time they get to song eight/nine/10, they love Snoop Dogg, loving the production, loving the growth. By the time they get to the end, they’re in tears because they’re emotional behind the body of work that me and Dr. Dre put together trying to show how to make a body of work, a project, well received. I love the hate and the love. That’s why we do it. We do it because we love what we do. Thank y’all!” However, he didn’t wrap up with that. Snoop then made sure to let everyone know that there’s a “thin line between love and hate,” and that “ya kids and ya mama love me.” Final sales numbers will arrive early next week.

Jeezy “Does Not Feel Safe” Letting Ex Jeannie Mai Walk Around His House

Recently, Jeezy raised concerns amid his split from Jeannie Mai and asked the court to enforce some guidelines for her upcoming visit to his home. In Touch exclusively reports that the former pair went back and forth in court over furniture purchased during their marriage in November. According to legal documents obtained by the outlet, Mai claimed to have property at Jeezy’s house that she needed to pick up. The judge has given her 21 days to pick up the items, which reportedly include trophies, clothes, books, and more.

Jeezy said he was “perfectly fine with [Jeannie] coming to his residence to retrieve her personal property.” He added, however, that he has “legitimate concerns about Jeannie being able to walk through the whole house.” The rapper alleges that in September of 2023, Mai came to the house and downloaded footage from his security system. Reportedly, it showed him locking his doors while holding a gun. He accuses her of using this footage to “justify withholding” their daughter from him.

Jeezy Accuses Jeannie Mai Of Downloading His Security Footage

“[Jeezy] does not feel safe having [Jeannie] in his home. Given [Jeannie’s] history of attempting to destroy [Jeezy’s] career with misleading information, [Jeezy] would have no way of knowing if [Jeannie] is planting listening devices or cameras in his home,” his lawyer wrote. “[Jeannie] is angry about the parties divorce and she is revengeful. In addition, the mere presence of [Jeannie] inside [Jeezy’s] home and personal space, after the highly contested nature of the divorce case, would absolutely destroy [Jeezy’s] peace and tranquility, as well as invade his privacy.”

He’s asking that instead of moving through the house freely, Mai just pick up boxes that he’s packed. “It is particularly cruel given that Ms. Mai uprooted her entire life from Los Angeles to live in their shared home,” her rep responded. “Only to now face unnecessary obstacles in gathering her belongings.”
