WATCH: Video Shows Gunna’s Release From Jail

Shortly after Gunna pleaded guilty to a racketeering conspiracy charge, the rapper was released from jail on Wednesday (Dec. 14), allowing him to return home after seven months behind bars.

Gunna was arrested in May along with Young Thug and other Young Slime Life (YSL) associates. He has been denied bond multiple times since.

The “Pushin P” rapper was spotted leaving the Fulton County Jail in a black hoodie, with a woman walking beside him. He appeared to smile as he walked out to a vehicle, clearly excited to be free again.

Gunna, whose real name is Sergio Kitchens, issued a press statement around the time of his release. In it, the 29-year-old made it clear that he hasn’t agreed to testify against any other person in the case.

Detailing his involvement with YSL, he penned, “When I became affiliated with YSL in 2016, I did not consider it a ‘gang’; more like a group of people from metro Atlanta who had common interests and artistic aspirations.”

“While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way,” he later claimed in the statement.

Gunna also shared that he entered an Alford plea in the RICO case. According to Cornell Law School, it essentially translates to “a formal admission of guilt towards charges in criminal court while the defendant simultaneously expresses their innocence toward those same charges.”

“I love and cherish my association with YSL music, and always will,” the “Drip Too Hard” artist also wrote.

As HotNewHipHop reported earlier this week, the “Best Friend” rapper was recently charged with reckless driving, speeding, and street racing. He already faced several federal charges in the RICO case. Prior to his arrest, he allegedly drove 120 MPH while joyriding on Interstate 85.

Gunna to be Released From Jail After Pleading Guilty to Racketeering Conspiracy Charge

Gunna Responds to Snitching Rumors: 'I Ain't Never Stop a Crime'

Gunna has pleaded guilty to a racketeering conspiracy charge in the YSL RICO case that landed himself, Young Thug, and more in jail.

According to WSB-TV 2 Atlanta, Gunna, born Sergio Kitchens, appeared before a judge on Wednesday, taking the Alford plea, citing pleading guilt was his best interest while maintaining innocence.

Gunna was sentenced to five years, with one served in prison. The one-year is commuted to time served, while the four-year balance is suspended and will result in a special arrangement, including 500 hours of community service.

Gunna released a statement after the sentence:

“While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way.”

Gunna can be called to testify, but he can claim the Fifth Amendment.

Wednesday, Gunna revealed he joined YSL in 2016 under the want to be involved with “a group of people from metro Atlanta who had common interests and artistic aspirations.”

He stated, “My focus of YSL was entertainment — rap artists who wrote and performed music that exaggerated and ‘glorified’ urban life in the Black community.”

Young Thug remains behind bars.

In addition, for Kayo fashion is something that has always been present as it originally started as something that came natural to him and would transition into him gracing runways during Paris Fashion Week.

Gunna Appears On CEO Trayle’s New Single “Bit W The Fangs” With Nechie

The streets are still screaming free Gunna but his presence is still felt. This week, CEO Trayle unveiled his latest single, “Bit W The Fangs” featuring Gunna and Nechie. It’s an eerie banger, produced by Stribb & Soulm8, finds the three rappers leaping into the spacey production with lavish flexes and boastful bars about women.

CEO Trayle’s remained an incredibly consistent figure in the Atlanta rap scene over the years. His project, The Collection, dropped in May while he’s continued to dish out new singles on a regular basis. Prior to “Bit W The Fangs,” CEO Trayle dropped off his four-track project, Vier featuring Enchanting.

As for Gunna, the rapper recently filed his third motion to get bond. Hopefully, Gunna comes home soon.

In the meantime, press play on “Bit W The Fangs” below.

Gunna Files 3rd Motion For Bond, Argues “No Evidence” For Holding Him

Gunna is once again filing another bond motion, this time arguing that there is “no evidence” to support the prosecution’s claim that he’s dangerous. Gunna was booked, along with Young Thug and 28 other members of YSL, for a 56-count Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) indictment back in May.

“The State has presented no evidence to support its claims of dangerousness and has dismissed the only serious overt act (75) that was present when the first bond hearing was held,” Gunna’s legal team wrote in their request for a new hearing.

Steven Sadow, who co-leads Gunna’s counsel, explained in a statement provided to Complex on Wednesday: “Sergio Kitchens (Gunna) is very hopeful that the Court will now recognize that the discovery provided by the prosecution fails to show his pretrial release poses a significant risk of danger to any person or the community or poses a significant threat to witnesses, and accordingly grants a reasonable bond.”

Gunna is being charged with one count of Conspiracy to violate a RICO Act. If his third bond hearing is unsuccessful, he will likely remain behind bars until his January 2023 trial date.

Young Thug has also been denied a bond of his own. In total, the YSL indictment includes charges of murder, armed robbery, participation in criminal street gang activity, and more.
