Gunna’s Attorney Releases Statement on IG: ‘Gunna Did Not Snitch To Get Out of Jail’

Gunna Responds to Snitching Rumors: 'I Ain't Never Stop a Crime'

Gunna’s attorney is speaking out against people like this rapper who are tagging the DS4EVER artist with a snitch tag. The attorney, Steve Sadow, hit social media to shut down lies.

“Gunna did not snitch to get out of jail,” Sadow wrote. “He has said nothing and is not cooperating. His plea statement cannot be used in court against any other defendant. So please stop spreading lies.”

Gunna pleaded guilty to a racketeering conspiracy charge in the YSL RICO case that landed himself, Young Thug, and more in jail.

According to WSB-TV 2 Atlanta, Gunna, born Sergio Kitchens, appeared before a judge on Wednesday, taking the Alford plea, citing pleading guilt was his best interest while maintaining innocence.

Gunna was sentenced to five years, with one serving in prison. The one-year is commuted to time served, while the four-year balance is suspended and will result in a special arrangement, including 500 hours of community service.

Gunna released a statement after the sentence:

“While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way.”

Gunna can be called to testify, but he can claim the Fifth Amendment.

Wednesday, Gunna revealed he joined YSL in 2016 under the want to be involved with “a group of people from metro Atlanta who had common interests and artistic aspirations.”

He stated, “My focus of YSL was entertainment — rap artists who wrote and performed music that exaggerated and ‘glorified’ urban life in the Black community.”

YSL RICO Case Update: Young Thug Gets Judge To Dismiss Key Evidence

It appears as though things may be starting to look up for Young Thug.

After appearing in court for the first time since the release of his fellow YSL crew members Gunna and Walter Murphy yesterday (December 15), he’s receiving some good news.

The pre-trial hearing saw Thug heading one step closer to his hopeful freedom. The Atlanta native and his legal team were successful in getting the judge to dismiss some key evidence from the case.

Some of the information that was allegedly set to be used against the “Best Friend” rapper was actually obtained illegally. In 2015, officers raided the Atlanta native’s home, obtaining evidence from cell phones in the process.

However, a judge later tossed the charges that followed, citing the raid as “unconstitutional.”

The 31-year-old’s lawyer won the appeal by pointing out that the seized devices were actually suppressed by a written order back in 2017. Additionally, they are guilty of failing to return Thugger’s property to him. As a result, the ruling of the evidence is that it’s now inadmissible within the case.

On Wednesday (December 13), the world was witness to Gunna’s official release from jail after taking a plea deal. Following suit, Young Thug’s YSL co-founder, Walter Murphy, is doing the same. He was also granted release earlier this week.

In both deals, they each plead guilty to one charge against them, while ultimately maintaining their innocence. Additionally, the WUNNA rapper’s lawyer has come forward to clear the air surrounding rumors his client snitched in order to get out.

“Gunna did not snitch to get out of jail. He has said nothing and is not cooperating. His plea statement cannot be used in court against any other defendant. So please stop spreading lies!!!” he wrote in an Instagram post.

Although the “Best Friend” rapper remains behind bars, it appears as though this is a positive development in the case.

YSL’s Co-Founder Takes Plea, Follows Gunna

It appears as though Gunna isn’t the only one involved in YSL’s RICO case to take a plea deal. Reports indicate that one of the crew’s co-founders, Walter Murhphy has done the same.

As a result, he was subsequently released from jail on Tuesday (December 13). While pleading guilty, Murphy admits to creating YSL with Young Thug 10 years ago, in 2012. Additionally, he pleads guilty to a single count of conspiracy to violate the RICO act.

Court documents allege that his new sentence is 10 years, with only one year commuted to time served and nine years of probation to follow. On the other hand, Gunna’s plea deal saw his sentence turn into five years with one year commuted to time served. The rest includes 500 hours of community service.

Part of the volunteering requires him to speak to young people about the dangers of gangs and gang violence in their communities.

The name of the deal that the WUNNA rapper is agreeing to is reportedly an Alford Plea. While he subsequently pleads guilty to one charge against him, he ultimately maintains his innocence.

As for Murphy, his plea deal includes a special condition in which he is to “testify truthfully in any further trial as it may become necessary,” according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Although these updates appear to be positive, Young Thug unfortunately remains locked up.

On Tuesday (December 13), the “Best Friend” rapper even received additional charges while awaiting the RICO trial. While they’re just misdemeanors for street racing, reckless driving, and speeding, they are still acting as obstacles in the way of his hopeful freedom. At this time, it’s still unknown whether or not Thugger is able to enter a similar deal.

Lil Keed’s Mother Confirms Her Son’s Cause Of Death

It’s been seven months since the hip-hop community’s sudden and tragic loss of Lil Keed. The YSL rapper was only 24 years old. The circumstances surrounding his death have been largely unclear up until now.

Yesterday (December 14), the late rapper’s mother took to her Instagram account to confirm her son’s official cause of death.

“In grieving my sons death, myself and the rest of the family were caused a lot of pain by the lies and rumors spread on the blogs and the internet with false information about Raqhid’s passing,” she wrote.

“Today, we’ve confirmed that Raqhid died from natural causes with no drugs or alcohol found in his system,” she continued.

Shortly following the arrest of his fellow YSL members, the Long Live Mexico rapper’s passing was part of a heartbreaking start to the year for the crew.

Young Thug and Gunna were arrested in a 56-count RICO indictment on May 9. Keed passed away only five days later.

“There’s no way that Young Thug, Gunna, and most of YSL gets arrested then Lil Keed dies. Something’s going on bruh YSL is being attacked,” one Twitter user wrote in response.

Prosecutors allege that the YSL collective is a criminal street gang, rather than solely a crew of music artists.

However, the world was witness to the “Drip Too Hard” rapper’s release just yesterday (December 14). In a positive development, information about his release began spreading online.

By pleading guilty to a single charge in the RICO case, the 29-year-old is able to formally admit his guilt while simultaneously maintaining his innocence.

In the process, his sentence of five years with one year to serve in prison is commuting to time served and 500 hours of community service. Meanwhile, Thugger remains behind bars for now.

In other news, 21 Savage has recently spoken out about missing his brothers following a performance with Drake in Atlanta, tweeting out that it “didn’t even feel right without thug and gunna tonight.”

“LL Takeoff And Keed,” he eventually continued, paying respect to his late collaborators.

Long live Lil Keed. Comment your favorite song of his down below in honor of the late rapper. Finally, remember to stay tuned to HNHH for the latest updates.

WATCH: Video Shows Gunna’s Release From Jail

Shortly after Gunna pleaded guilty to a racketeering conspiracy charge, the rapper was released from jail on Wednesday (Dec. 14), allowing him to return home after seven months behind bars.

Gunna was arrested in May along with Young Thug and other Young Slime Life (YSL) associates. He has been denied bond multiple times since.

The “Pushin P” rapper was spotted leaving the Fulton County Jail in a black hoodie, with a woman walking beside him. He appeared to smile as he walked out to a vehicle, clearly excited to be free again.

Gunna, whose real name is Sergio Kitchens, issued a press statement around the time of his release. In it, the 29-year-old made it clear that he hasn’t agreed to testify against any other person in the case.

Detailing his involvement with YSL, he penned, “When I became affiliated with YSL in 2016, I did not consider it a ‘gang’; more like a group of people from metro Atlanta who had common interests and artistic aspirations.”

“While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way,” he later claimed in the statement.

Gunna also shared that he entered an Alford plea in the RICO case. According to Cornell Law School, it essentially translates to “a formal admission of guilt towards charges in criminal court while the defendant simultaneously expresses their innocence toward those same charges.”

“I love and cherish my association with YSL music, and always will,” the “Drip Too Hard” artist also wrote.

Young thug’s New Charges

Meanwhile, it appears that Young Thug will remain in jail until his trial kicks off next month.

As HotNewHipHop reported earlier this week, the “Best Friend” rapper was recently charged with reckless driving, speeding, and street racing. He already faced several federal charges in the RICO case. Prior to his arrest, he allegedly drove 120 MPH while joyriding on Interstate 85.
