Jada Pinkett Smith Net Worth 2023: What Is The Actress Worth?

It was in the bustling corridors of Baltimore School for the Arts where Jada Pinkett Smith, a petite dynamo with a contagious smile, started to sew the seeds of her multifaceted career. Her early aspirations included acting and dance, but she had ambitions far beyond the theater’s proscenium arch. Jada was more than a promising talent; she was a young woman determined to reshape the narrative surrounding Black women in the arts. Her net worth now stands at an impressive $50 million, according to CAKnowledge.

While most will remember her initial foray into the limelight with the TV show A Different World, her role in the critically acclaimed film Menace II Society marked her as an actress to watch. But let’s not forget her turns in cinematic gems like The Nutty Professor. On the other side of the camera, she’s produced award-worthy content through her production company. Her role as an entrepreneur doesn’t overshadow her contributions to the arts but complements them.

But it hasn’t all been rainbows and butterflies. She’s been outspoken about the struggles within her marriage, her relationship with Tupac Shakur, and her battle with mental health. All of which she divulged on her Facebook series, Red Table Talk.

Don’t be deceived by the glitzy Hollywood façade; Jada Pinkett Smith is an ardent philanthropist and activist. In addition, she’s used her platform to speak on gender inequality in Hollywood. Smith aims to elevate the status of women in a male-dominated industry. This enigmatic woman, who rose from the Baltimore art scene to become a Hollywood stalwart, exemplifies what it means to be a Renaissance woman in the modern era. From acting and producing to philanthropy and activism, Jada Pinkett Smith has demonstrated that one can truly have it all. And “all” in her case includes not just a fulfilling career and a loving family but also a net worth that would make Midas blush.

Will Smith And DJ Jazzy Jeff Are Reuniting For The ‘Class Of ’88’ Podcast, Revisiting Their Hip-Hop Arrival

On Wednesday, September 20, Jada Pinkett Smith posted throwback videos of her and Tupac during their junior year of high school as a way to promote her forthcoming memoir, Worthy. In the clips, Pinkett Smith and the late Tupac are performing to Will Smith’s “Parents Just Don’t Understand” with DJ Jazzy Jeff from 1988.

This morning, September 21, Smith revealed plans to explore that time period even more thoroughly with his Class Of ’88 podcast. According to Billboard, Smith “will celebrate 1988 hip-hop with episodes alongside Queen Latifah, Salt-N-Pepa, Darryl ‘DMC’ McDaniels, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Rakim, and Chuck D.”

The publication additionally relayed, “Smith will explore the landmark year of 1988, which included the rise of Public Enemy, the ascension of DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, and the outpouring of female MCs such as Salt-N-Pepa and Queen Latifah.”

The Wondery podcast will last for eight episodes. Beginning on October 26, Class Of ’88 will be available exclusively on Amazon Music and Audible. Amazon Prime members can listen to the podcast’s trailer here.

“Today, hip-hop dominates pop culture,” Smith says to start the trailer. “But it wasn’t always like that. Before 1988, a lot of people saw our music as just a passing fad.”

The nearly two-minute audio trailer also includes excerpted perspectives from Smith’s A-list guests, including Queen Latifah recalling, “[Hip-hop] had an expiration date, like milk. That’s what they were saying.”

In 1988, DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince released He’s The DJ, I’m The Rapper, housing “Parents Just Don’t Understand.” The track claimed the first-ever Best Rap Performance at the 1989 Grammys, which DJ Jazzy Jeff and Smith boycotted because the category wasn’t televised (as revisited by Andscape in January 2018).

When Jada Pinkett Smith And Tupac Lip-Synced To Will Smith In A Throwback Video, She Never ‘Dreamed’ She And Smith Would Get Together

Jada Pinkett Smith has often spoken about her relationship with the late Tupac Shakur, and she brought it up again in a pair of recent Instagram posts, in which she shared a video of her and the rapper dancing and lip-syncing to, of all songs, Will Smith’s “Parents Just Don’t Understand.”

Sharing the two-minute clip on Instagram yesterday (September 20), Pinkett Smith wrote, “Here is part of the original video of Pac and I doing a terrible job at lip syncing Parents Just Don’t Understand.”

That post came shortly after another one in which Pinkett Smith shared a short passage about the clip, from her memoir Worthy. It reads, “Not in a million years would I have dreamed that the Fresh Prince and I would become, um, very acquainted. Not in a million years did I imagine three lives, their fates, would be so intertwined. And… I never would have imagined that this video would become a tangible memory, of the last time Pac and I, were simply kids together. Pac and I lip syncing Parents Just Don’t Understand by Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince during our Junior year in high school. Who would have thought?”

Chris Rock Needed Counseling Following Will Smith Oscars Slap

Despite it being over a year and a half since Will Smith famously slapped Chris Rock on stage during the Oscars, people are still enamored with the event. Smith famously took issue with one of Rock’s jokes about his wife prompting him to come on stage and slap the host on live television. He followed that with a memorable declaration for the comedian to keep his wife’s name out of his mouth. Later that night when he won an award for his role in King Richard he made a memorable, emotional acceptance speech.

It was a legendary night for pop culture and one that people are still talking about to this day. Recently, Leslie Jones shared some new details on the aftermath of the event for Chris Rock. She mentioned that he had to go to counseling afterward saying, “that sh*t was humiliating, it really affected him.” In a post sharing the statement fans continue to take aim at Rock. “I bet he learned how to keep a man’s wife name out his mouth,” the top comment on the post reads. “All the therapy he really needed was a get back,” another commenter suggests. Chris Rock Sought Counseling After Oscars Slap

Earlier this year reports emerged claiming that Will Smith himself did alright following the slap. He reportedly had his “best rest” during his time away from Hollywood following the controversial slap moment. Will got to travel. Will got to step outside of all this stuff and when he was back he said — best rest he’s ever gotten. Best time he got to sit back and look at things,” one of his co-stars John Salley said.

Earlier this year Chris Rock released a new stand-up comedy special on Netflix. It came to light shortly before the special was released that Netflix had edited out a joke about the slap after Rock badly messed up his delivery of the joke. What do you think of Chris Rock needing counseling following the notorious Oscars slap? Let us know in the comment section below.

Juicy J Recalls Will Smith’s Surprising Response To Three 6 Mafia Winning An Oscar

Juicy J says that Will Smith didn’t have the reaction he expected to seeing Three 6 Mafia win an Oscar in 2006. At the time, the group took home the award for Best Original Song for their Hustle & Flow track, “Hard Out Here for A Pimp.” The rapper reflected on meeting Smith at the ceremony during a recent interview with Allison Kugel.

“[Will Smith] ran up, he was like, ‘Man, I’m just mad ‘cause y’all got one before me,’” Juicy J told Kugel. “It could’ve been a joke, but I don’t know him. First of all, when I seen him, I was like, ‘I grew up listening to your music, man. It’s an honor to meet you.’ And he shook my hand, but he was like, ‘Man, what the hell? Y’all got one before me?’ And like I said, he could have been joking. He’s a comedian too. But I didn’t take it like that because I’m thinking people are gonna be like, ‘Congratulations.’ But he didn’t say that.”

Will Smith didn’t win his first Oscar until 2022 when he took home Best Actor for his portrayal of Richard Williams in the biographical sports drama King Richard. It was during the same ceremony that he infamously slapped Chris Rock and received a ban from the event.

Juicy J Discusses Meeting Will Smith

Elsewhere in Juicy J’s interview with Kugel, he reflected on his relationship with Mac Miller. In doing so, he admitted that he still regrets not dissuading the late rapper from using drugs when they were in the studio together prior to his death. He specifically recalled a time when Miller brought a “party pack” of tons of different drugs to record.

Will Smith Shares Intense Experience Filming “Emancipation”

Iconic film and TV star, Will Smith has been in the news for the good, the bad, and the ugly. We already know about The Oscars debacle involving Chris Rock, and he has moved on from that it seems. He was already back under the bright lights of Hollywood with the Apple TV original film, Emancipation. It saw a global release to theaters on December 2nd, 2022, and was able to be streamed on Apple TV+ a week later. It received mixed reviews from fans and critics alike on Rotten Tomatoes, but the do-it-all talent’s life was put on the line with great impassion.

Will sat down with Kevin Hart on his Peacock talk show Heart to Hart to discuss his role as Peter, a slave that was living in a southern state that rebelled against slavery. In March 1863 Peter did everything in his power to escape the brutality of one of the worst periods in history. For 10 days Peter was ensuring that he was going to able to survive, going so far as to mask his scent with onions. After all of those trials and tribulations, he finally reached the Union army stationed in Baton Rouge, where he could say he was a freed slave.

A post shared by the Jasmine BRAND (@thejasminebrand)

That true story in history is why Will Smith wanted to really feel how it was to be a “worthless human being” in Emancipation. He said to Kevin Hart, “I went too far in ‘Emancipation.’ Just bringing it up, I start to get teary. I wanted to feel the degradation of slavery, and I went too far in. The level of human brutality, what we will do to each other.” Furthermore, he explained in even more detail, “I wanted the real weight of them. I wanted real chains… they were fitting it for size.”

You have to commend Will for taking a role, especially one that replicates slavery, to give audiences the most authentic take possible on a terrible point in our history. What do you think about Will’s respect for the role? Did you see the movie, and if so how was it? We want to know what you have to say in the comments section below.

Will Smith Recalls Steven Spielberg Having A Helicopter Pick Him Up To Pitch “Men In Black”

Will Smith says that he nearly turned down the iconic role of Agent J in 1997’s Men in Black. Speaking with Kevin Hart for a recent episode of Hart to Heart, the actor explained that Steven Spielberg, who executive produced the film, sent for a helicopter to pick Smith up and bring him to him, so they could discuss the decision. Smith began by recalling not wanting to do another alien film following 1996’s Independence Day. His former manager, James Lassiter, was adamant about Men in Black, however.

“In the heyday, the 10 movies I made at the top of my career, [James] was choosing the films,” Smith said. “He just had an eye. I didn’t want to make Pursuit of Happyness. I didn’t want to make ‘Ali.’ And [James] picked Men in Black. I kind of understood Men in Black a little bit but I didn’t want to make ‘Men in Black.’ That was the next year after Independence Day. So I didn’t want to make two alien movies back to back.”

“Steven Spielberg sent a helicopter for me to talk to me,” Smith continued. “I was in New York. It landed at his house. And, like, he had me at hello. And it was the first time I ever had lemonade with carbonated water. You can’t say no to that.” “He said the coldest shit,” Smith added. “He said, ‘Tell me why you don’t want to make my movie…’ And he was the producer. And he put the ellipsis at the end, it was the dot, dot, dot. If he had continued, he would have said, ‘Joker, you know I made Jaws, right? You know I made E.T.‘”

Smith ended up taking the role in Men In Black and it went on to become one of the most iconic in a career of iconic performances. Smith and his co-star, Tommy Lee Jones, later reprised their roles to star in two more sequels in the franchise.
