Diddy has been accused of drugging and raping a 13-year-old girl with an unnamed male and female celebrity after the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.
The Buzbee Law Firm filed the new suit, one of five, filed in the Southern District of New York on Sunday Night. Two more were filed in Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
According to Variety, Jane Doe states she attempted to get into the MTV VMAs but couldn’t without a ticket. She then approached limos, hoping to go to an afterparty, encountering a driver for Diddy. The girl was driven to a party, signed a non-disclosure agreement, and accepted a drink that she stated made her “woozy and lightheaded.”
The woman stated she rested in an empty bedroom, where Diddy would enter with “a male and female celebrity.” Jane Doe stated the male celebrity raped her as the female watched. That was allegedly followed by Combs raping her as both watched.
The plaintiff now lives in Alabama, citing “deep depression which continues to affect every facet of her life.”
Cardi B has come to Tyla’s defense as she’s been facing backlash on social media for her appearance at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, last week. While accepting the award for Best Afrobeats Video, she passed the trophy off to Lil Nas X and joked about struggling to carry it while speaking. Fans on social media have been labeling the move “rude” in response.
“Tyla wishes she never won that f*cking VMA award,” Cardi said while discussing the incident on X (formerly Twitter) Spaces. “If she would’ve known that that f*cking VMA award would’ve brought so much hate, so much criticism. I bet for a fact she’ll be crying tonight. The internet is insufferable. The way that you guys will take a picture, take a moment, and make it something that it’s not, and then just crush somebody.” From there, she described the internet’s reaction as “bullying.”
As caught by VIBE, she added: “You gotta worry about motherf**kin’ doing a speech, looking good while you’re carrying a motherf**king’ 10-pound f**kin’ [award] in your motherf**kin’ hand. So I just don’t think you understand how f**king heavy those f**kin’ awards are. Also, I met Tyla in person. I’m 5’3″, so I’m already short, and she’s shorter than me. No lie, she’s shaped really beautifully, but she’s very very skinny. Skinny like, Mariah-type skinny. She has to weigh like 109 pounds. So imagine you’re 109 pounds and you gotta carry a 10 f**king award with heels. She literally asked Lil Nas X. Y’all are trying to make this into an, ‘Oh, how rude is she? She asked another female artist to hold her award like she’s the help.’ I love Halle but she didn’t even ask Halle to hold the award! She asked Lil Nas X, a man, to hold it.”
Cardi B Comes To Tyla’s Defense
Tyla previously addressed the controversy in a post on X. “Y’all make everything weird… I was not asking my girl Halle… We just girls, STFU I WON A VMAAAA,” she wrote. She took home the award due to the success of her song, “Water.” Check out Cardi B’s full comments on Tyla on Instagram below. During his recent appearance on the R&B Money podcast, TDE’s Punch was asked to tell a wild story but omit the names of anyone involved. It seems as though he opted to reflect on Diddy and J Cole’s fight at a VMAs after-party in 2013. Allegedly, Diddy wasn’t happy with Kendrick’s “Control” verse, and J Cole was defending him.
In a clip from the podcast, Punch recalls hitting a club in New York City when two people began to argue over a big song. These men are speculated to be J Cole and Diddy. According to him, the VIP section they were in was like “the front row of the Grammys,” meaning there were plenty of high-profile people around. The argument escalated when one of them said they’d cut the other’s throat with a bottle if they were to disrespect them again. The one who was threatened threw a punch, resulting in a “huge scuffle.” It’s rumored that Diddy was the one to make the bottle threat, whereas Cole threw the punch.
At this point, Punch claims that a man who was friends with one of the celebrity onlookers got involved and started beating up J Cole. This is rumored to be Jay-Z’s close friend, Emory Jones. Eventually, Jones allegedly realized that he was beating up J Cole, who was signed to Roc Nation. Apparently, he didn’t have his glasses on and immediately felt guilty when he realized what happened. Of course, it’s not confirmed that this is the altercation Punch was referring to. It’s also not confirmed that the altercation played out exactly this way.
“The ratio from celebrity to regular person was like 70/30 maybe. Every section was full of celebrities,” Punch added. What do you think of Punch seemingly recalling J Cole and Diddy’s 2013 VMAs after-party fight on a podcast? As Def Jam’s first artist and the MC behind their first single, it’s only natural that LL COOL J would lead the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards’ tribute to the label’s 40th anniversary at Wednesday’s ceremony (September 11). He kicked things off with “Headsprung” and “The G.O.A.T.,” and Public Enemy swftly followed as Chuck D and Flavor Flav performed “Bring The Noise.” Then, LL came back for renditions of “Mama Said Knock You Out,” “Rock The Bells,” “Around The Way Girl,” and “Goin’ Back To Cali.” In fact, he also performed some cuts off of his new album THE FORCE, namely “Passion” and “Proclivities” with Saweetie (who did not perform).
Finally, LL COOL J performed “Doin’ It” and closed off a pretty awesome performance to celebrate Def Jam and its impact. Beforehand, Busta Rhymes introduced him as “true trailblazer… also my hero. He’s not only a hip-hop innovator, he’s not only a godfather, big homie and a mentor. He was the first artist to release an album on Def Jam and a force to be reckoned with.” It all rings true.
LL COOL J & Public Enemy’s Def Jam Tribute At 2024 VMAs
Elsewhere, LL COOL J kept up a bit of a nostalgic streak through his “Murdergram Deux” music video with Eminem. In it, they recreate a variety of classic hip-hop album covers such as LL’s 1987 record Bigger And Deffer and include plenty of other cheeky visual references and moments. It’s been a great year for the New York native, whether it’s looking back on his storied career or continuing his legacy and artistry with new releases. As controversial as Def Jam’s history has been up to this point, it’s fitting that he’s the one to sum up its best parts.
Meanwhile, the VMAs this year also held other very notable moments, such as Eminem’s opening performance of “Houdini” and Megan Thee Stallion’s various pop star homages. It feels like everyone is in the spirit of celebration these days following hip-hop’s 50th anniversary last year, so this Def Jam tribute continues that party. Someone wants it to die, but that’s another story… In the meantime, LL COOL J will continue to rock the stage and represent the culture.
Twenty-five years ago, the MTV Video Music Awards celebrated the diversity of hip hop during an impactful year.
By the dawn of the new millennium, hip-hop was at a crossroads.
There was still a significant void after the killings of Tupac Shakur in 1996 and the Notorious B.I.G. in 1997. Their deaths stemmed from an intense east coast/west coast turf war where nobody dared to cross enemy lines.
Allegiances were seemingly set in stone, but cracks started to show in 1999. There was plenty of talent to go around regardless of the fealty of one particular region.
Jay Z, Nas, and DMX respectively took over New York. Eminem put Detroit on the map with the release of The Slim Shady LP. Snoop Dogg found peace with Master P’s No Limit Records after tumultuous tenure with Death Row Records and the release of his No Limit debut No Limit Top Dogg. Cash Money Records featuring Lil Wayne, B.G, the Hot Boys, and Juvenile helped to sustain the south.
The phenomena of nu-metal, a unique blend of rap, heavy metal, and grunge, were pervasive with Limp Bizkit and Korn.
Women in hip hop reached critical mass in 1999. Lauryn Hill was riding high off the success of her groundbreaking album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Lil Kim was coming into her own post Biggie with her blistering lyricism and fashion sense as she prepped for her second album The Notorious K.I.M. Missy Elliot held double duty as a trendsetting artist, producer, and music video revolutionary with her sophomore album Da Real World. TLC came back from a five year hiatus with their fan appreciation album Fanmail.
The moral panic surrounding the perceived social ills of popular music and its connection with youth culture had shifted towards the satanism of Marilyn Manson and so called “goth music”. In the aftermath of that year’s shooting at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado the shooters were accused of being influenced by the music.
A few years prior it was “gangsta rap” being subjected to congressional hearings and organized boycotts of Time Warner and other major labels by civic leaders such as C. Delores Tucker alongside former Reagan Education Secretary William Bennett.
By 1999, hip hop was an embedded part of American popular culture. It was infused into everything from movies, commercials, sports, and fashion.
Those elements came to the fore at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City during some notable moments.
Lauryn Hill took home four awards, including the VMA for the coveted Video Of The Year for “Doo Wop (That Thing).”
Lil Kim rocked a lavender pasties outfit inspired by Missy Elliot, and Diana Ross jiggled her breast while presenting the award for Best Hip Hop Video alongside Mary J. Blige, where The Beastie Boys won for their song ”Intergalactic”
It was during the acceptance speech that Adam Horovitz made a plea about respect for women and girls and safety at music festivals after the horrific acts of violence on display at that summer’s Woodstock 99, where there were multiple incidents of sexual assault.
In a heartfelt moment, Will Smith introduced Afeni Shakur (Tupac mother’s) and Voletta Wallace (Biggie’s mother) to present the award for Best Rap Video, which went to Jay Z for “Can I Get A…” ft. Ja Rule and Amil off the Rush Hour soundtrack.
Eminem won for Best New Artist Video for “My Name Is” while also performing alongside Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre. TLC performed “No Scrubs,” and the video won for Best Group Video.
In replacement of DMX, who was scheduled to perform, Jay Z took the stage and performed “It’s A Hard Knock Life”, “Can I Get A…”, and “Jigga My N—-”.
The 99 VMAs were more than an annual award ceremony honoring the best in music at the dawn of a new century; they solidified hip hop’s forever place in the broader culture.
There wasn’t a need for any singular voice or even a handful to carry the weight, a collection of artists with a vast array of skills from all regions of the country kept the music alive.

Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj let shots ring off at each other earlier this year. Minaj dropped “Big Foot,” Thee Stallion clapped at Minaj with “Hiss.” But what started this beef? Thee Stallion doesn’t know.
In a new cover story with Billboard, Hot Girl Meg spoke about mending the once-positive relationship.
“I still to this day don’t know what the problem is,” Thee Stallion said. “I don’t even know what could be reconciled because I, to this day, don’t know what the problem is.”

Megan Thee Stallion continues to keep winning in 2024, as she will be the host of the 2024 MTV VMAs. The network dropped this bombshell on their social media pages just minutes ago with the caption, “@THEESTALLION IS HOSTING THEE 2024 #VMAs! Trust us, you won’t want to miss the show! September 11 on @mtv! ”. For those wondering what time you can start watching, it will air at 8 p.m. ET. The Houston, Texas rapper will be a busy bee that night, as she is also up for five categories. Those include “Best Collaboration”, “Best Hip-Hop”, “Best Direction”, “Best Visual Effects”, and “Best Art Direction”. Overall, fans seem to be pretty juiced about the news.
“I ain’t watch the VMAs in years. I’m bout to throw a whole watch party ”, one IG user claims. “The V M Ahs”, another cleverly writes. Of course, there was also some back-and-forth shots from the Hotties and Nicki Minaj’s Barbz. “The barbs are angry ”. “They couldn’t get Nicki Minaj so they had to settle and down grade for Megan”.
Megan Thee Stallion Notches Another Feather In Her Cap
As we said earlier, Megan has just been on absolute tear overall. Some of her biggest accomplishments include dropping her comeback album MEGAN, going on the Hot Girl Summer Tour, and even her catchy Amazon jingle for this year’s Prime Day. Those reasons alone make sense as to why MTV selected her to host the long-running award show. But she’s also run things on other popular programs such as Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
