Travis Scott, Bad Bunny, And The Weeknd Are On ‘KPop’ Levels Of Fame With Their New Collab

Travis Scott is back — and he’s brought some friends with him. On his new song, “KPop,” Scott is joined by fellow hitmaker heavyweights Bad Bunny and The Weeknd, as they all come through with the heat.

Over a smooth, percussive beat, Scott delivers his signature brand of rap-singing. Of course, in true Travis Scott fashion, there’s no shortage of “skrt” or “it’s lit” adlibs.

Bad Bunny pops in, with the intent to charm a lady on the dancefloor — no matter how her man feels about it.

Meanwhile, The Weeknd — in his first musical contribution since the end of season 1 of his controversial HBO series, The Idol — seeks to continue a debauched night long after the club closes.

The scorching new single arrives a week before his hotly-anticipated fourth studio album, Utopia. Utopia marks Scott’s first album in five years, and also, his first since the Astroworld tragedy.

Scott will celebrate the release of Utopia next week with a special concert at the Giza Pyramids in Egypt — despite rumors of its previous cancellation due to alleged cultural insensitivity. The album will also come in five different artworks.

You can listen to “KPop” above.

Utopia is out 7/28 via Epic Records and Cactus Jack. Find out more information here.

Travis Scott Will Launch The ‘Utopia’ Era With His ‘KPop’ Single With The Weeknd And Bad Bunny

We’re inching closer toward Utopia.

Travis Scott will actualize his forthcoming album at the Pyramids Of Giza in Egypt on July 28, despite reports that the event had been canceled. There have been other questions about whether The Weeknd will be featured on Utopia, and Scott has now answered that as well.

“Flame Abe Benito Out Tomorrow Night,” Scott joint-posted with The Weekend on Wednesday evening, July 19, confirming his single with Bad Bunny and The Weeknd. According to Scott’s official website, the track is titled “KPop” and is available in digital, CD, and vinyl form.

In late May, videos circulated online of an alleged Utopia showcase at Lilly’s Club in Monaco, where Scott is said to have teased an unreleased song featuring Bad Bunny. Benito addressed it as the cover star for Rolling Stone‘s July/August 2023 issue.

“We worked on that a while back — and I think Travis has been working on his project for a minute,” Bad Bunny told the publication.

While Utopia still doesn’t have an official release date — though it’s rumored to be arriving on July 28 — it’s worth noting that Scott will serve as a headliner at Rolling Loud Miami on Saturday, July 22. Nothing about this Utopia rollout has been predictable, but it’s probably safe to expect the “KPop” live debut at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium this weekend.

Travis Scott Points To Utopia, Texas In New Billboard

Travis Scott has a lot of fans waiting around with bated breath for his new album, Utopia. Overall, this could very well be the biggest album of the entire year. However, no one knows when the album is actually going to be released. Some thought we would get the album this Friday. Although, with Travis set to perform in Egypt on July 28th, people are circling next week on their calendars. Needless to say, there is still a lot of mystery surrounding this album, and no one knows what to make of it.

If you have been paying attention to the rollout, you know that there have been quite a few billboards. The first two billboards contained a clock that was pointed to 7:21. Moreover, the second billboard had a lock combination to a briefcase with the same exact numbers. Now, however, a third billboard has surfaced, and it contains an interesting set of coordinates. If you were type them into google, you would be pointed towards a small town in Texas called Utopia.

Travis Scott With Another Teaser

Of course, this is a very appropriate town to promote the album. Texas is Travis Scott’s home state. Although he is from Houston, you cannot discount his ties to the entire state. Whether or not Travis has plans to visit Utopia, remains to be seen. However, if one thing is for certain, it is that he wants to continue teasing the album. At this point, all fans can do is really just guess. Hopefully, we get some concrete details sooner rather than later.

For now, there isn’t a single song that has been confirmed for the project. We don’t even know who the features are going to be. The only thing we can sort of guess is that “Lost Forever” with Westside Gunn will be on the album. Travis Scott has performed the song at various shows as of late. Moreover, Westside Gunn was in Egypt this past week, which led to more speculation. Once again, nothing is confirmed and the fans are beginning to get restless. Let us know your thoughts on this rollout, down below.

Travis Scott and Live Nation Reps Deny Egypt Show is Cancelled Amid Rumors of ‘Strange Rituals’

unnamed (15)

Travis Scott is the subject of rumors that his show in front of the pyramids in Egypt has been canceled. According to outlets in Egypt, The Egyptian Syndicate of Musical Professions, who provide permits, nixed the show.

“Since the General Syndicate is part of the fabric of this beloved country it is keen on its stability and refuses to tamper with societal values and Egyptian and Arab customs,” the statement reads.

The Syndicate added, “Based on research and documented information about strange rituals at Travis’s concerts that are inconsistent with our authentic societal values and traditions, the Board of Directors has decided to cancel the license issued to hold this type of concert that contradicts the cultural identity of the Egyptian people.”

Representatives from Live Nation have responded, stating, “There have been no changes to Travis Scott’s show in Egypt; any reports to the contrary are false. We can’t wait to celebrate ‘Utopia’ with you in Egypt!”

Reps for Scott also reached out to Hypebeast, denying the show is canceled.

Travis Scott announced in celebration of his highly anticipated new album, Utopia, he would perform a special show in front of the Pyramids of Egypt on July 28th. The Pyramids, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, will be the awe-inspiring backdrop for this immersive experience.

Is Travis Scott’s Egypt ‘Utopia’ Concert Canceled?

Travis Scott’s upcoming fourth studio album, Utopia, has the world talking, as it’s his first full-length album in five years. It’s also his first since the Astroworld Festival tragedy of 2021. Scott plans to make his comeback in Egypt, where he would perform Utopia in full at the Giza pyramids.

There were reports, though, that the event would not go on as planned due to cultural concerns from the Egyptian Musicians’ Syndicate. However, Live Nation now says that is untrue, telling Pitchfork, “There have been no changes to Travis Scott’s show in Egypt; any reports to the contrary are false. We can’t wait to celebrate ‘Utopia’ with you in Egypt!”

The Egyptian Musicians’ Syndicate issued a statement this morning (July 18) noting that portions of Scott’s performances may not fall in line with traditional Egyptian and Arab customs, and they will therefore not grant Scott the necessary permits for the show. That said, it’s not clear if the group actually has the authority to cancel the performance.

You can read the full statement from Dr. Mohamed Abdullah, an official spokesman of the Musicians’ Syndicate, below (via Egypt Today).

“Regarding the concert scheduled to be held on 28th July at the Pyramids area in Giza by American rapper Travis Scott, the Musicians’ Syndicate, as the entity responsible for issuing licenses for music and singing concerts in Egypt, in coordination with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture represented by the Censorship Authority for Artistic Works and the Ministry of Labor, emphasizes the necessity of considering security aspects and obtaining approvals from the relevant authorities as a top priority when organizing concerts. This is to ensure the safety and protection of the audience.

While the Musicians’ Syndicate has welcomed various art forms and concerts in recent months, it has set conditions and regulations to safeguard the customs and traditions inherited by the Egyptian people.

As the Musicians’ Syndicate is part of the fabric of our beloved country, it works towards its stability and security and rejects any tampering with the societal values, customs, and traditions of Egypt and the Arab world. After examining social media opinions and feedback, as well as the news circulating on search engines and social media platforms, which included authenticated images and information about peculiar rituals performed by the star during his performance, contradicting our authentic societal values and traditions, the Syndicate’s president and board of directors have decided to cancel the license issued for hosting this type of concert, which goes against the cultural identity of the Egyptian people.”

Travis Scott Banned From Performing At The Pyramids In Egypt

Travis Scott had some big plans next week for his new album Utopia. The plan was for him to perform the album in full at the Pyramids in Egypt. Overall, this would happen just outside of Cairo, which is the country’s capital. Tickets for the show had already completely sold out. Although the show is a long way from the United States, this felt like a truly incredible idea. After all, what better way to display a new album than in front of one of the world’s greatest wonders?

Unfortunately, it would appear as though Travis Scott needs to come up with some new plans for his show. According to Yahoo!, the Egyptian musicians’ syndicate has declared that it will not allow Travis to perform. Overall, this decision comes as a bit of a surprise. Typically, artists are allowed to perform at the Pyramids. However, hip-hop has become a target of the syndicate as of late. It has been claimed that the genre goes against the country’s “traditions” at times.

Travis Scott Will Need To Make New Plans

As it turns out, the syndicate took a look at Travis’ planned stage show, and was immediately appalled by some of the “rituals” he was going to perform. “The syndicate found images and documented information on the strange rituals he practices, which go against our traditions,” a statement from the group explained. Simply put, they felt like Scott’s performance was disrespectful to Egyptian culture. Although, they did not explain exactly what Scott was going to do.

This is a huge blow to the Utopia roll out. For now, Travis has yet to give a statement on exactly what is going on. Only time will tell what he decides to do next. Let us know what you think of all this, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news and updates from around the music world.
