Lil Zay Osama Pleads Guilty In Federal Gun Case, Potential Prison Sentence Revealed

According to court documents reportedly obtained by XXL on Friday (May 31), Lil Zay Osama and his legal team entered a guilty plea in his federal firearm case on Thursday. For those unaware, this case has been in limbo since September of 2022, after an Uber driver found a Glock with a switch in his car after the Chicago rapper took a ride. He pleaded guilty in Brooklyn Federal Court and still hasn’t received a sentencing date, but could face a ten-year maximum or likely a 21 or 27-month sentence given federal guidelines. “I knowingly possessed a firearm that was a machine gun in Queens County on Sept. 29, 2022,” Zay reportedly expressed in court according to the New York Daily News. I know that it was wrong and against the law.

Furthermore, this whole incident came about when an Uber driver picked Lil Zay Osama and his colleagues up in Manhattan. He saw him holding a gun and then dropped them off in Queens, and it was after their exit that the driver found a modified Glock 22 .40 caliber with an “auto sear” device that Zay left behind. After the driver notified the cops, they arrested him. But the case took an odd turn later in November, as authorities dismissed the case.

Lil Zay Osama’s Guilty Plea

However, things didn’t look bright for Lil Zay Osama for long, as in December of 2023, police arrested him on a weapons possession charge and alleged robbery. Then, in January, he received an indictment from a grand federal jury, which included charges of machine gun possession and possession of an unregistered firearm. “I guarantee n***as gone need me before I need them,” Zay seemed to respond to these charges on social media. “I’ll be home sooner than you think. Blink n***a [purple devil emoji].”

Meanwhile, now all that’s left for him is to wait for his sentence and hope for the best. We hope that this is Lil Zay Osama’s last legal obstacle on the way, and that he’s able to not just grow from these experiences but turn them into something positive. It may seem small or flat-out warranted to the average reader, but the constance of these circumstances and the places they come from require a much more nuanced conversation. Here’s hoping this gets him closer to that discussion in his personal life and beyond.

Lyft Responds To Uber’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ Promo And Is Offering The Beyhive 50 Percent Off Rides To Listening Parties

We are just hours away from Beyoncé‘s eighth studio album, Cowboy Carter. In anticipation for the album, Beyhivers around the world are planning listening parties for the country-influenced record. Ahead of the album, Lyft announced they will be offering a special promo in honor of the Queen Bey.

Lyft riders who use the promo code SPAGHETTI24 will received 50 percent off of rides taken on Friday (March 29), the day of the album release. The offer is good until 11:59 p.m. and is good for one ride, with the discount capping at $20. However, Lyft teased “other code drops soon!”

The promo arrives hours after Uber announced they would be offering Beyoncé fans 16% off of rides taken from 9 p.m. EST on March 28 to midnight on March 30 for riders who use the promo code 16CARRIAGES. For Uber, the discount caps at $16, and users can only use the code once.

Lyft responded to Uber’s announcement on Twitter, saying “crumbs were left,” which many felt was a sassy reply. Lyft doubled down on the sass after a fan suggested “Now offer 50% off rides for 3/29 to whack em.”

In the words of Beyoncé’ herself, “always stay gracious, best revenge is your paper.”

Earlier this week, Uber appeared to tease a collaboration with Beyoncé, after they posted a video of a similar horse from her Cowboy Carter album cover on social media. Now, more details have been revealed about what was in store. “We’ve got some news,” they teased in an Instagram post.

In honor of Beyoncé’s early album single “16 Carriages,” Uber is offering fans the chance to get 16% off of their rides — in case anyone is heading out to hear the record at a party tonight.

Here’s what to know about getting the Uber deal.

How To Get The Uber Promo Code To Beyoncé Cowboy Carter Listening Parties

For those looking to get the Uber discount, fans can use the promo code “16CARRIAGES” for 16% off (only up to $16). This deal will only be available from 9 p.m. ET tonight (March 28) until 9 p.m. ET tomorrow (March 29).

This is also only available as a one-time use, so users will not be able to apply it for a round trip — only for a single ride to a listening party. The release also notes that the offer and terms can change, but people can find additional information about it in their Uber app.

What Do We Know So Far About Beyoncé & Uber’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ Collab?

Beyoncé’s new album, Cowboy Carter is now just days from release, and the newly-minted country star is turning up the anticipation. It looks like she’s got some sort of collaboration happening with ride-sharing app Uber, as Uber cryptically teased an announcement on Twitter. “We’ve got some news,” it read. “Tomorrow at 2:00 pm ET.” While that, by itself, wouldn’t be enough to get anyone too riled up, including a bee emoji, a cowboy emoji, a crown emoji, and a video of a running horse were more than enough to perk up the BeyHive’s sensors.

As for just what the announcement is going to be, well… That remains to be seen. Fans have speculated — joked, really — in the comments that the announcement could have something to do with Beyoncé’s album cover horses, affectionately known as Reneigh and Chardonneigh, but in truth, there are a plethora of possibilities.

One eagle-eyed fan noted that a video billboard outside Uber Arena in Berlin bears an advertisement for the album, subtly suggesting that a tour announcement could be coming soon.

Others — many, actually — joked that Uber would be adding new options to its ride selections, including horseback and horse-drawn carriages. That would certainly be a splashy move, if not a very efficient one.

One thing is for sure: Plenty of Beyoncé fans will be seated, as they say, for Uber’s announcement tomorrow — and for the release of Cowboy Carter, which drops on March 29.

Michelle Williams’ Uber One Ad Laughs Off Lack Of Destiny’s Child Recognition: Watch

Destiny’s Child wouldn’t have been what it was without the work of Michelle Williams, but still, the 44-year-old finds herself standing in Beyonce’s shadow all these years later. As a young woman striving to stand out in the entertainment industry, it couldn’t have been easy to constantly be compared to Queen B and Kelly Rowland, not to mention other contemporaries. Thankfully, Williams is now able to laugh off long-running jokes about her being DC’s “forgotten member.”

In recent months, both Bey and Rowland have been all over the news, the former for her highly anticipated Act II album, and the latter for her new Netflix Original film, Mea Culpa, directed by Tyler Perry. While Rowland shut down questions about the possibility of a Destiny’s Child reunion album while promoting her movie, Williams is welcoming opportunities to talk about her musical past, notably in a new commercial for Uber One, in which she addresses the disparity in attention she receives when compared to her counterparts.

Michelle Williams Collabs with Uber One

The Australian ad premiered on Monday (March 4), showing Williams walking through a park, coffee in hand. She eventually finds a bench to sit on, where she opens her Uber app to see how much money she’s saved. “OK, OK, my Uber One membership savings don’t disappoint,” the songstress declares. “You know what is disappointing? I was in one of the most iconic girl groups and no one recognizes me,” she adds. Afterward, a man conveniently calls out her name, generating an excited reaction, only for Williams to realize he was talking to his dog.

On the topic of Destiny’s Child, earlier this year, nearly all the historic girl group’s members were able to pose for a picture together for the first time. Farrah Franklin was absent, making the moment slightly less than perfect, but still, seeing how much the other five women have grown into themselves over the decades is sweet to see. IceJJFish Of Viral Rap Fame Is Now An Uber Driver, Fan Sings His Hit To Him

If you were keeping tabs on the early days of meme rap, Internet humor, and viral hip-hop on YouTube, then you’ve definitely heard of IceJJFish. Almost a decade ago, his song “On The Floor” gained massive attention for its… unconventional vocal approach and low-budget music video. Jokes aside, many would argue that he is straight-up influential, not just sonically, but also when it comes to online rap and people not taking themselves too seriously with a high production value. After all, even huge stars today like Doja Cat still take inspiration from JJFish. However, it’s been a while since we heard from him, but that recently changed thanks to a fateful car ride.

Furthermore, someone uploaded some clips online that have since gone viral themselves of IceJJFish picking them up as their Uber driver. In the videos, the fan sings along to “On The Floor” to him, slightly mocking the vocal tone but also acknowledging that he came through with a hit. Not only that, but in the caption, the rider wrote that JJFish, real name Daniel McLoyd, said that he isn’t “on that” anymore. It’s a shame because, considering the legendary status that “On The Floor” holds online, there was clearly a lot of potential for more.

Fan Meets IceJJFish As His Uber Driver

Still, it’s also heartening to see that a viral Internet celebrity is just living a normal life just like the rest of us. Usually, stories of overnight online fame and viral hits based on comedy or ridicule don’t end as sweetly. Either the subjects get caught up in the short-lived glamour of it all or they form legitimate careers that never match their original charm. IceJJFish is hopefully living his best life, making gospel music and occasionally meeting fans who recognize him.

Meanwhile, it’s not like he completely went under the radar following the release of “On The Floor.” For example, he appeared as a special guest on Odd Future’s show “Loiter Squad” alongside Tyler, The Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, Jasper, Lionel, and the rest of the crew. That was a couple of years after his music video went viral, and in the near-decade since, he deserves to do whatever he wants with that moment of fame. For hopefully more news and updates on IceJJFish, stay logged into HNHH.

Diddy Stars In Uber Commercial For Super Bowl LVII

Diddy stars as a music executive in a new commercial for Uber that is set to air during Super Bowl LVII, later this month. In the piece, Uber propositions Diddy with coming up with a song for the company, to which he declines. The advertisement comes ahead of the release of his next album, Off the Grid Vol. 1.

“So, we’re thinking a song could really put Uber One on the map,” a company executive tells Diddy. A henchman for the mogul then responds, “Diddy don’t do jingles.” When the executive changes his wordage from “jingle” to “hit,” Diddy becomes more interested. “Meet me at the studio,” Diddy says.

Fans can expect many more hits from Diddy as he prepares for the release of Off the Grid Vol. 1. It will be his first full-length album since 2006’s Press Play and his first under his imprint, Love Records. “Music has always been my first love, Love Records is the next chapter is about getting back to the love and making the best music of my life,” Diddy said in a statement when he launched the label. “For the label, I’m focused on creating timeless R&B music with the next generation of artists and producers. Motown is the perfect partner for my album and I’m excited to add to its legacy.”

Diddy isn’t the only hip-hop artist with a Super Bowl ad. Cardi B, Offset, Jack Harlow, and more will also be making appearances during game breaks. Cardi B and Offset will be acting in a commercial for McDonald’s, while Harlow will be promoting Doritos alongside Missy Elliott.

Check out the forthcoming Super Bowl LVII commercial below. The game will kick off on February 12. The Kansas City Chiefs will be taking on the Philidelphia Eagles while Rihanna will be performing during the halftime show. It will be her first major performance since the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards and hopefully a sign of more music on the way.

Lil Zay Osama Arrested After Leaving Gun In An Uber: Report

This is an unfortunate turn of events for Lil Zay Osama. As the industry descends on Atlanta for the BET Hip Hop Awards, Zay was in Queens, New York, catching an Uber on what was expected to be a problem-free day. However, the rapper found himself arrested—and not only that, he reportedly was on Livestream when approached by the police.

According to the New York Post, Lil Zay Osama and “several associates” were passengers in a Uber ride that reportedly traveled from a hotel to a recording studio.

During the ride, the driver was said to have seen Zay handling a firearm, and when the rapper got out of the vehicle, he reportedly left “a .40 caliber Glock” behind.

The driver called the police and gave the names of the passengers, resulting in the authorities learning that Lil Zay Osama had a previous weapons conviction, among other charges on his record. The firearm was tested and it showed that the gun was modified to fire “more than one round with a single trigger pull.”

A round was reportedly in the chamber and nine others in the magazine. Investigators alleged that the firearm functioned much like a machine gun.

“The defendant — a convicted felon —carried a loaded pistol affixed with a switch device, rendering the gun to be a machine gun,” said Assistant U.S. Attorney Rebecca Schuman. “The defendant poses a danger to the community based on his
