As 2024 inches to a close, it’s time to start thinking about 2025. In particular, next year’s music festivals. One to put on your radar is Axe Ceremonia Festival. The two-day festival will take place on April 5 and 6 at Parque Bicentenario in Mexico City, Mexico, with headliners Tyler The Creator, Natanael Cano, Charli XCX, Massive Attack, Parcels, Tomorrow X Together, Gesaffelstein, and FKA Twigs.
Other artists include A.G. Cook, Lil Yachty, The Marias, The Dare, Brutalismus 3000, Nathy Peluso, and Kelly Lee Owens.
Pre-sale tickets for Axe Ceremonia Festival will be available on Ticketmaster for Citibanamex cardholders on Wednesday, October 23, with the general sale beginning a day later on Thursday, October 24. You can find more info here.

It’s been about six years since my colleague Steven Hyden wrote about how putting out new music on Fridays is a functionally bad idea, and it looks like change may finally be on the horizon. Next Monday, October 28, Tyler The Creator is set to release his eighth (or seventh, depending on what you count) album, Chromakopia. The next day, Earthgang looks to release their fifth album, Perfect Fantasy. It may have taken a bit, but it looks like New Music Tuesday might be back.
Here’s where we remind some of our younger readers that, once upon a time, new albums and singles used to come out on Tuesdays. We didn’t really think enough about it at the time to appreciate it, but it was glorious. You could buy the latest releases after school on Tuesday and spend the rest of the week actually listening to it, determining your weekend playlist between classes and on the way to and from school. You actually had time to share and discuss new music with friends and fellow listeners, to absorb and digest the new tunes throughout the week without distractions from other new media like movies and weekend activities that make it hard to just sit and take it all in.
Now, though, music and movies all come out on the same day. This means making choices. You miss out on something, and with so many new albums all coming out on Friday (Thursday night on the West Coast), there are too many projects clamoring for space on your playlist. By the weekend, well, you have plans. You might get to sit and absorb one or two of the latest releases, but then Monday comes, and it feels like a hard reset. Sure, you can still listen to all the new stuff through the week, but by now, you’ve probably forgotten about them all in the rush, save for the one or two highest profile releases from the biggest artists. Mid-level artists and indies get pushed to the side. It’s a bad scene for almost everybody involved.
Audiomack co-founder Brian Zisook (aka DJ Z) has been making the argument on social media for years that releasing earlier in the week drives more engagement. In August, he wrote, “Spoke with execs from four record labels this week, and none believe releasing new music on Fridays makes sense anymore. They’d gladly switch back to Tuesdays—better for artists, fans, and DSP partners alike.” Since Tyler announced Chromakopia would release on Monday, Zisook has beat the drum more steadily, noting, “Releasing music at midnight on Friday is incompatible with consumer behavior… Releasing earlier in the week, preferably during daytime hours, allows for greater engagement and conversation while people are in the same weekday routine!”
While many indie artists have followed this advice (to their benefit), this is the first time in a long time mainstream artists have moved a heavily anticipated release to earlier in the week. This gives us our first chance to test this oddly counterintuitive logic in the real world — especially since streaming became the de facto default consumption method for new music. Having two artists dropping earlier in the week signifies a shift in thinking. Should they see the kind of results Z and Hyden have been promoting for the past few years, you can bet the industry will take note. The next artist makes a trend; after that, the floodgates will hopefully open, allowing for an industry-wide change that will only benefit artists and their partners.
Tyler, The Creator, in just a week, has one of the most anticipated releases of the year. On his YouTube page, he dropped an album announcement trailer/track called “ST. CHROMA.” After about a minute and 20 seconds elapsed, the title of the project would be revealed. CHROMAKOPIA will be the California creative’s eighth studio LP, and it will be out everywhere next Monday, October 28. He’s given us one full single from it called “Noid” which brought some serious experimentation with a Zambian rock sample. The themes about fame and being terrified of it to some degree are heavily present and it will be interesting to see where he takes the rest of the album. For now, though, Tyler, The Creator has some more exciting news to share.
Just moments ago, the eclectic multi-talent announced the CHROMAKOPIA: THE WORLD TOUR. It’s a massive undertaking, as it will kick off on February 4 in Minnesota and end on September 4 in Perth. Opening acts will include Lil Yachty and experimental rap duo Paris Texas. There are some rumors and speculation going around that they will both be on the project, so fingers crossed.
As for ticket information, here’s what we know. General on-sale will start on November 1 at 10 a.m. local time. American Express customers, though, are going to have multiple benefits and they are as follows. According to the press release, they will have access to purchase exclusive merch at select venues across the tour. AMEX sales will also start earlier than the general on-sale. That will begin on October 29 with the full breakdown available here. Right now, the website activity is so heavy that there is currently a wait time at the time of writing. If that tells you anything it’s that fans are ecstatic for Tyler’s return.
What are your thoughts on Tyler, The Creator’s announcement of the CHROMAKOPA: THE WORLD TOUR? Do you think the opening acts are going to be features on the album? Do you plan on attending any of the tour stops? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Tyler, The Creator. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.
Tyler The Creator’s efficient rollout for Chromakopia has wasted absolutely no time. After revealing the vinyl availability with a trailer giving fans previews of several of the album’s songs, Tyler has announced the dates for the tour supporting the project. The tour will begin in February with openers Lil Yachty and Paris Texas, and run through Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. Tickets will go on sale on November 1 at 10 AM local time and you can find more info here.
Chromakopia features the songs “St. Chroma” and “Noid” and is out October 28 via Columbia Records. You can find more info here.

Tyler The Creator’s brilliant rollout for Chromakopia, his eighth album, continued today with a trailer teasing the album’s vinyl recording. In the ad, the masked Tyler, with his hair sculpted into twin peaks, dances alongside a record player as it plays clips of several of the project’s songs. The snippets display a Tyler very deep into his sample bag, polishing the groovy sounds that he’s been perfecting over the course of his last three albums.
Tyler kicked off the rollout to Chromakopia with the eerie, borderline militant video for “Chroma,” featuring the “chromakopia” chant and introducing his latest alter ego. Then, he announced the album’s surprising release date, revealing a truncated schedule that would allow the album to drop just two weeks after the initial tease.
He followed up earlier this week with the release of the Hitchcockian video for “Noid,” which featured an appearance from fellow Nigerian-American superstar Ayo Edebiri, and addressed recent rap-related tragedies in Tyler’s hometown, Los Angeles. He also announced the lineup for this year’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, which returns November 16 and 17 with Playboi Carti, Sexyy Red, and more.
You can check out the Chromakopia vinyl teaser below.
Chromakopia is out on 10/28 via Columbia Records. You can find more info here.
Tyler, the Creator, is giving his latest peek into Chromakopia by releasing the “Noid” single and video. The release comes one week ahead of the album’s release on Monday, Oct. 28.
“Noid” is the first official single from the album. It brings the harsh realities of fame and celebrity to both the single and video, where passersby continue to infiltrate Tyler’s creative space. Joining Tyler, the Creator, in the video is The Bear star Ayo Edebiri, who presents a transitioning iPhone to a gun. Additionally, Frank Ocean can be heard in the single’s opening.
You can see the full video above.
Welcome to Tyler, the Creator SZN. The superstar rapper previously dropped off a teaser, scored by the single “ST. CHROMA,” hinting at the future release of the album Chromakopia.
The video delivers the energy of a music video. A marching soldier treks through plains with an army of suited men behind him as Tyler’s whispering bars carry the energy. You can see the men march into a Chromakopia shipping container, which eventually explodes below.
The days when fame seemed like a dream are far behind us; these days, stars make it look much more like a nightmare. In the video for his new song “Noid,” Tyler The Creator addresses the anxiety and paranoia his notoriety brings with it, particularly invoking the recent violent tragedies that have beset so many of his contemporaries in his hometown. Afte being accosted by crazed, autograph-seeking fans (including a cameo from The Bear‘s Ayo Edibiri), T barricades himself in his home, fearing assassins infiltrating his stronghold.
The imagery throughout the twitchy video suggests recent incidents in Los Angeles in which rappers like Nipsey Hussle, Pop Smoke, and PnB Rock were all shot to death. In the latter cases, the killers were motivated by materialistic jealousy; Pop Smoke was shot and killed during a home invasion in 2020 after accidentally revealing his address online, while PnB Rock was robbed for his chain at a restaurant and shot to death while fighting back against his assailant.
This is a marked turn from Tyler’s last album, Call Me If You Get Lost, which depicted a jet-setting lifestyle that would ordinarily be enviable. It looks like his next album, the recently announced Chromakopia, looks to put the other side of the equation on display, before anyone gets too envious.
You can watch Tyler The Creator’s “Noid” video above.
Chromakopia is due on 10/28 via Columbia Records. You can find more info here.
This year’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival lineup was rolled out in a fun way: Via a crossword puzzle with clues to each artist’s identity on the festival’s website. Now that the puzzle has been solved, we know who all is performing at this year’s Camp. In addition to regulars like festival organizer Tyler The Creator and frequent collaborators Vince Staples, Earl Sweatshirt, Domo Genesis, and Denzel Curry, this year’s fest includes Doechii, Kaytranada, DJ Mustard, Raye, Laila!, The Alchemist, Action Bronson, Concrete Boys, Blood Orange, Tommy Richman, Sampha, Faye Webster, and a special tribute to the late, great MF DOOM. You can check out the completed crossword below.
While Tyler told fans at the last Camp Flog Gnaw that he wouldn’t be releasing any new music soon, this year, he’ll have a whole new album to perform. Tyler announced his new album, Chromakopia after teasing new music with the eerie video for “St. Chroma.” It’s a good thing he’s got a new project coming, too, as last year’s headlining festival set will be hard to top; Tyler caroused across the stage firing a flamethrower, so you can bet he’ll be going even further over the top with this year’s set.

ASAP Rocky and Tyler, The Creator came from different worlds. The former a New York rapper raised on Dipset and Bone-Thugs. The latter a California prodigy who grew up on Pharrell and Kanye West. They’re an odd pairing on paper, and yet they’ve been friends and collaborators for a decade. Tyler, The Creator recently unveiled the title and cover art for his new album, CHROMAKOPIA. The art was praised by fans and hip hop outlets alike for its striking design. ASAP Rocky, on the other hand, decided to have fun with his OF brother.
ASAP Rocky went in the comment section of Tyler’s announcement post and clowned the rapper’s looks. “UGLY N***A B LOL,” he wrote. A comment like this would usually be grounds for a social media beef, but Rocky and Tyler have a sense of humor predicated on roasting. Besides, looks and style are big parts of both of their brands. ASAP Rocky literally branded himself “Pretty Flacko” early on in his career, and has spent the last decade as more of a fashion staple than a rapper. Tyler’s style differs from Rocky’s, but he has actually struck a better balance between music and fashion.
Don’t believe us? Tyler, The Creator has dropped two albums since ASAP Rocky’s Testing in 2018. The release date for CHROMAKOPIA is also before Rocky’s upcoming release, Don’t Be Dumb. This means the Odd Future icon will have tripled Rocky’s output over the last eight years. This stat was not lost on fans, who proceeded to pester the ASAP Mob standout for an album update. Don’t Be Dumb was set to drop August 30, but the rapper told Billboard that it had been delayed due to sample clearances. He also pointed to internet leaks as an ongoing issue during recording sessions.
ASAP Rocky is back up and recording, though, as evidenced by the singles he’s dropped over the last few months. He was on the deluxe version of Tyler, The Creator’s last album, Call Me If You Get Lost. He also delivered a standout verse on the Flower Boy song “Who Dat Boy.” It’d be ideal if Rocky could hop on CHROMAKOPIA and Tyler could return the favor on Don’t Be Dumb. We will see if it actually happens.
A day after teasing a mysterious project, Tyler The Creator has announced a new album. It’s called Chromakopia, and it’s coming October 28 (that’s a Monday, which is notable since new albums usually arrive on Friday).
Details about Chromakopia are scarce, including no tracklist (although “St. Chroma” will presumably be the first single, if there is no one). But the artwork, which you can see below, notes that “all songs are written, produced, and arranged” by Tyler Okonma, Tyler’s real name.
Tyler, who is bringing back the best festival in America for another year, recently shared his frustrations with the current state of music. “I love this art form so much, bro, and there’s so many n****s out right now that aren’t musicians, that are getting treated like musicians because they make meme records,” he said on the Mavericks With Mav Carter podcast. “[They will] publicly be like, ‘I don’t give a f*ck about music, I just do this sh*t for money.’ It’s a Spider-Man meme of, like, the next n****. When every publication is like, ‘Hell yeah, let’s put that out,’ you taking up space for n****s like me.”
It’s safe to say, Chromakopia won’t be a meme record.
