Ty Dolla Sign Enjoys “Vultures” Success, Reaches Massive Streaming Accolade

Everyone’s talking about the new album Vultures in regards to its most popular artist, Kanye West. Even though a lot of the project sounds like it came from him and is oriented around his status, it’s a collab album. A big issue with our coverage of this LP -– and that of most publications, for that matter -– is that we might not have properly taken the time to give Ty Dolla $ign his flowers. Say what you will about his association with Ye’s antisemitism, but he is the glue that holds Vultures together, and is its most consistently great force. Fortunately, based on the numbers, the 41-year-old is definitely getting his due praise.

Moreover, a new report emerged suggesting that Ty Dolla Sign is now the ninth most streamed artist on Spotify. Apparently, this reflects a jump of 155 spots from before Vultures had released on the platform after a long wait, which is an amazing feat. Given the discrepancy between his popularity and that of Kanye West, we’re glad that this opportunity at least put him on the spotlight in a way that would boost his visibility, his numbers, and his acclaim. No matter what on God’s green Earth is going on during any given album cut, you can bet on the Los Angeles native to deliver a strong chorus or melodic line.

What’s more is that his emotion and perspective also shines through in a very engaging and compelling way. For example, Ty Dolla Sign’s half on the track “Talking,” plus the music video, shows his dedication and passion as a father. Contrasted with the wild statements that Kanye West espouses, this gets to the heart of their collaborative project in a much more clear and unencumbered way. As such, he’s definitely a saving grace on Vultures for those looking for something deeper, although we have to give the production its due credit, too.

Kanye West’s Vultures with Ty Dolla $ign might not ever come out, but they sure are trying to keep the train rolling. Hopefully we’re wrong about that just to see what the hype is about, and it looks like they might actually drop something soon. Moreover, new footage emerged of the two of them filming a music video outside of Wet in Las Vegas, seemingly for the Playboi Carti-assisted track rumored for their project, “F**k Sumn.” Of course, it’s entirely possible that this is for something else entirely, or that they might scrap it and come through with something else. But it’s exciting to at least see that this rollout isn’t over yet, for better or worse.

Furthermore, fans are skeptical from both a project quality perspective and a more socially aware one. Kanye West, Vultures, and the songs we’ve heard from it so far are topics that will spark a political debate even among the most civically disinterested music fans. It’s also the backdrop for a couple of different beefs allegedly brewing for the Chicago rapper, although these are all rumors. There’s his allegedly leaked text messages with Pusha T, as well as a recent rant that JPEGMAFIA went on about his “idol.”

Regardless of all that, we know that the 46-year-old has never shied away from conflict; rather, he welcomes and prompts it. All this is to say that there’s so much we could be focusing on right now that has little to do with Kanye West, Vultures, or Ty Dolla $ign as much as it does the controversy behind all of them. Those are important conversations to have, but as listeners detached from the situation, the music is what we will truly feel equipped to comment on.

Meanwhile, it’s clear that this new era isn’t really affecting the Yeezy mogul’s previous work too much. For one, his 2016 album The Life Of Pablo re-entered the Billboard 200 chart, and he recently received four new platinum certifications. At least we’ll always have the old Ye. Kanye West Gets “Vultures” Tattoo, Matching With Ty Dolla Sign

Ty Dolla $ign isn’t the only one rocking some Vultures ink, as his collaborative partner for this album just got one to match. Moreover, new pictures emerged on social media of Kanye West getting a small “¥$” tattoo on his arm at an unknown location. Ty, on the other hand, got it on the side of his head just above his right ear, but unfortunately for die-hards excited for the full-length team-up, this new artwork doesn’t set its release in stone. Currently, some fans still think it’ll drop before 2023 comes to a close, whereas others expect an early January release. Most people, though, probably won’t believe it until they see it on a DSP.

Such is the album rollout process of Kanye West, an artist who can dangle bait in front of starving admirers more effectively than most… for better or worse. At least this new tattoo confirms that he’s committed to the project and that it holds enough weight for him to fight for it. Most recently, Ye and Ty premiered a new song “Unlock” on the radio after rumors that their Backstreet Boys-sampling single “Everybody” would drop did not manifest. As such, we can assume that the duo will continue to seek distribution and finally put Vultures in fans’ ears.

Of course, this isn’t even taking into account the various controversies that dogged this album– and the Chicago artist, for that matter. Delays, beef, rants, canceled live events, celebrity appearances, and most prominently, the actually abhorrent and damaging remarks that Kanye West has espoused against the Jewish community, the Black community, other rappers, and more. On that last note, it at least seems like he’s starting a process of accountability through an apology in Hebrew. It’s a small step, and one that many organizations and individuals blasted, but hopefully the first in a longer and more fulfilling journey.

Kanye West Invites Playboi Carti To Miami Listening Party With Ty Dolla Sign

Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s collab album is apparently still in the works despite multiple delays, cancellations, pulled concerts, and more antics. Moreover, apparently the two are hosting a listening party referred to as a “VULTURES RAVE” in Sawgreen Mills in the Miami area, as the shopping center is in Sunrise, Florida. Per social media posts from the singer, it will take place on Tuesday (December 12) at 12AM midnight. As such, it seems like each artist is also taking steps to make sure everyone who they want there will be there. For Ye, that includes a familiar face who he executive-produced an album for three years ago.

Furthermore, Playboi Carti continued his hot streak of social media activity recently by sharing a DM from him. “It’s ye checking in family,” Kanye’s message reads, according to his Whole Lotta Red collaborator’s recent Instagram Story post. “Got your number from wheezy.” Then, he included a screenshot of Ty Dolla $ign’s announcement of this “rave,” which is most likely just a listening party. However, it’s still quite likely that this is just a ruse to put together some other shindig or party, as we don’t know the explicit details of it.

Not only that, but this also brings two album rollouts together, something which only became possible for Kanye West and Playboi Carti this week. For those unaware, the latter fully kicked off his I AM MUSIC campaign, hyping fans up with snippets and a lot of social media interactions with other stars and potential collaborators. As such, it’s no surprise that the Atlanta rage exponent couldn’t help but share the good news from the Chicago rapper. Does this mean that we’ll get both projects at around the same time?

It’s too early to know for sure, but it wouldn’t be a surprising coincidence given that Ye and Carti have worked together before. In fact, we already went through this cycle recently with a rumored but then scrapped Italy concert that seems unlikely to go down.

Furthermore, this post suggests that we’re finally in full album rollout mode for, at the very least, Ty Dolla Sign and Kanye West’s offering as a duo. Along with buzz about this, reports suggested that the Chicago MC is working on a solo album as well, although that’s a bit more unclear. After all, what other artist can say that they have as many scrapped albums that fans obsess over as they do classic studio projects? Also, the track’s music video employs a nostalgic vibe with a love story to represent the song’s longing themes. Overall, it’s a fitting track for the Valentine’s Day season and one that reaffirms finding love after a long time.
