Ty Dolla $ign Says ‘Vultures 2’ Can Drop ‘Any Day,’ Will Only Be on YZY App

Ty Dolla Sign Says His New Single "Motion" is Created to 'Make You Move'

Ty Dolla $ign is dropping off a Vultures 2 update now that the promised release May 3 release date has come and gone without new music.

Speaking with a Russian YouTube, Ty didn’t deliver a concrete date but said “ASAP.”

“‘Vultures 2’ is on the way,” Ty Dolla Sign said. “It’s coming soon. Any day now. It could be tomorrow.”

But there is a catch, the album will only be on the YZY App. So no Spotify, no Apple Music, no TIDAL.

Will Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign’s ‘Vultures 2’ Get Delayed?

Last week, Kanye West announced the new release date for his and Ty Dolla Sign’s second collaborative album, Vultures 2 would be May 3. Now, with that date just a day away, fans of the mercurial producer have to contend with dueling impulses: excited anticipation for the project’s long-awaited release and skeptical dread that it’ll once again be pushed back without warning or explanation.

So, will Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s Vultures 2 be delayed again?

Unfortunately, there’s no real way to answer that. It isn’t like Kanye is a fountain of information these days — at least, not relevant information. For instance, one of his recent missives declared that his next project would be a porn studio (which, if true, would simply offer yet another distraction from him doing the one thing people actually seem to want him to). We know he’s been in the studio, because he added his own verse to Future and Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That” to rekindle his on-again-off-again feud with Drake. But no one asked him to do that, and it’s unclear how that has anything to do with Vultures 2.

One potential problem has been Kanye’s supposed inability to secure a distributor for his music after making antisemitic comments last year. He debated a direct-to-consumer approach, but given his spotty follow-through on projects even when he isn’t enduring the consequences of his own actions, don’t be surprised if tomorrow comes and goes without a new release.

Kanye West Has A New Tentative Release Date For The Oft-Delayed ‘Vultures 2’

Early this month, Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign canceled several listening events for their upcoming album Vultures 2 without warning or explanation. The canceled listening sessions were just part of an uneven rollout for the project, which they announced in January. After several setbacks, though, it appears that the album has a new tentative release date: May 3. Kanye revealed the release date during an appearance on influencer Justin LaBoy’s podcast.

Some skepticism about the release date is probably warranted. When Kanye and Ty first announced that Vultures would be released in three parts, they initially gave the second installment a March 8 release, with the third part billed for April 5. They’ve now blown past not only the second release date, but the release date for the third part as well. After missing the date for the first Vultures, they released the album in mid-February, only to run into problems with the distributor — namely, that FUGA, the company listed as distributor, had previously refused to work with Kanye over his antisemitic comments. The album was pulled from Apple Music, but still debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 because we crossed through the looking glass sometime in 2015.

Meanwhile, on March 8, Kanye delayed Vultures 2, attributing the delay to an internal debate about adopting a direct-to-consumer distribution method.

Vultures 2 is (supposedly) out on 5/3.

Is There A New Kanye West And Ty Dolla Sign ‘Vultures 2’ Release Date?

Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign plan to release their Vulture series in a trilogy, with Vultures 2 being the next upcoming release. Last month, West revealed the cover art for the album — building fans’ excitement for the project.

However, West’s spokesperson recently told Billboard that there would no longer be listening parties for Vultures 2, despite this being initially announced.

Here’s what fans should know about the Vultures 2 new release date.

Is There A New Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign Vultures 2 Release Date?

Although it was supposed to drop on March 8, as of right now, there is not an updated release date for Vultures 2. The duo plans to sell the album for $20, according to West, as it will be available on the Yeezy website instead of any streaming platform. A few days later, short previews of the songs were available on Instagram and TikTok — so a release could very well be on the horizon.

“We regret to report that due to the time constraints for Ye and Ty Dolla Sign to curate production and meet logistic requirements, the upcoming dates for the VULTURES 1&2 listening experience will need to be revisited at a later date,” Tampa’s Amelie Arena, which was one of the listening locations, shared.

Vultures 1 had been delayed, too, but arrived eventually — meaning it should be the same for the trilogy’s second drop.

Ty Dolla Sign is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Kanye West And Ty Dolla Sign Canceled Multiple ‘Vultures’ Listening Events Without Warning

Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign have yet to release the second installment of their ongoing(?) trilogy project, Vultures, and now, they’ve even canceled multiple planned listening events for the first two parts, according to Billboard. They were planning to hold the listening parties in arenas across the US, but did not give a reason for the cancelations — only a vague promise that new dates will be announced.

Cities touted on Ticketmaster included dates in Washington, DC; Tampa, Florida; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Nashville, Tennessee; and Charlotte, North Carolina. A listening on April 21 at the Pyramids at Giza in Egypt is still selling tickets.

Although Vultures 1 was a commercial success, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and spawning a No. 1 single on the Hot 100 in “Carnival,” Vultures 2 did not materialize on its scheduled release date, March 8, and Kanye appeared to debate a direct-to-consumer release. However, that still hasn’t happened, and the third release date is already rapidly approaching.

The rocky rollout could possibly be attributed to reports that the distributor for Vultures 1, FUGA, released a statement shortly after it hit DSPs alleging that the album had been released without clearance. FUGA claims it was submitted by a different partner after the company declined a partnership with Kanye and Ty due to Kanye’s antisemitic comments and other erratic behaviors. It was removed from Apple Music, but not Spotify, which allowed it to reach its impressive milestone, but apparently left Kanye without a distributor for the second and third installments.

Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time Kanye has canceled listening sessions. Several of the events promoted for the first Vultures release were also canceled at the last minute. However, according to some fans’ responses to Kanye and Ty’s Rolling Loud “performance,” it doesn’t sound like fans missed much.

Ye and Ty Dolla $ign Eye Pyramid in Egypt for Next ‘Vultures’ Experience

Ye and Ty Dolla $ign Release Trailer for "Vultures" Video and Announces Three Release Dates

Ye and Ty Dolla $ign have eyed Egypt for their next Vultures experience. The two have announced an event for April 20 at the Step Pyramid of Djoser in the desert of Saqqara, Egypt. Tickets are currently on sale.

Ye’s friend and frequent collaborator Travis Scott attempted to perform a show in Egypt ahead of the release of UTOPIA. That didn’t go as planned. You can read more about it here.

We can get a glimpse of Ye’s recording process for Vultures. The closing verse on “CARNIVAL” was recorded while at least 25 people surrounded him.

Earlier this month, Ye and Ty Dolla $ign reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100. Their collaborative, stadium-sounding anthem, “Carnival,” featuring Rich the Kid and Playboi Carti, hit No. 1.

“Carnival” now makes Ye the first rap artist to have a No. 1 in three decades (the 2000s, ‘10s and ‘20s).

According to Luminate, “Carnival” secured the 1,165th No. 1 spot in the 65-year history of the Hot 100. It amassed 33.7 million streams (up 4%), garnered 3.9 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 85%), and sold 3,000 downloads (up 15%) during the tracking week of March 1-7.

With “Carnival,” Ye claims his fifth Hot 100 chart-topper, following hits like Katy Perry’s “E.T.” (featuring Ye), which spent five weeks at No. 1 starting in April 2011, among others. Ty Dolla $ign previously led the Hot 100 for a week in June 2018 as featured on Post Malone’s “Psycho.”

It is the first No. 1 record for Rich the Kid and Playboi Carti.

Additionally, “Carnival” maintains its reign for a second week atop both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts, utilizing a similar multimetric methodology as the Hot 100.
