Travis Scott’s Egypt Concert At The Pyramids Of Giza Has Officially Been Canceled Following Rumors

After many rumors, it’s official: Travis Scott’s planned concert at Egypt’s Pyramids of Giza is canceled, per a statement from Live Nation Middle East.

The statement shared today (July 26) starts, “We regret to inform you that the UTOPIA show, originally scheduled for July 28th at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt is cancelled. Unfortunately, despite highest efforts, complex production issues meant that the show could not be constructed in the desert. We understand that this news is disappointing and not the outcome any of us desired.”

It concludes, “Refunds will be issued to all ticket holders at their point of purchase. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this cancellation may have caused and appreciate your understanding. We remain committed to bringing exceptional live performances to fans and hope to have the opportunity to do so in the future.”

The news follows reports that cultural concerns from the Egyptian Musicians’ Syndicate forced the Scott show to be canceled, with a statement from the group reading in part, “After examining social media opinions and feedback, as well as the news circulating on search engines and social media platforms, which included authenticated images and information about peculiar rituals performed by the star during his performance, contradicting our authentic societal values and traditions, the Syndicate’s president and board of directors have decided to cancel the license issued for hosting this type of concert, which goes against the cultural identity of the Egyptian people.”

Live Nation said in response at the time, “There have been no changes to Travis Scott’s show in Egypt; any reports to the contrary are false. We can’t wait to celebrate ‘Utopia’ with you in Egypt!”

Now, though, the show has indeed been canceled. There were reports earlier this week that Scott’s team was looking to find another venue for the show, but it’s not clear if that remains, or ever was, the case.

Travis Scott’s New Album ‘Utopia’: Everything We Know So Far

Travis Scott is gearing up for his new album, Utopia, and fans are extremely excited. Over the past few years, he has been teasing the project. In 2020, he had posted “See you in Utopia,” but it took a while for it to come out — likely due to the Astroworld controversy.

Here is more of what to expect from Utopia.

Release Date

During his recent set at Rolling Loud Miami, he teased that it would potentially be dropping this Friday, July 28. Scott has also confirmed this in a Twitter post today, with more information hinted to be revealed later today, when he regains service.

Tracklist

The tracklist for Travis Scott’s Utopia is still TBD. However, he has treated the Houston Astros to an early preview of the record as of a few weeks ago.

Singles

Scott recently dropped the first single, “K-Pop,” which was a collaboration with Bad Bunny and The Weeknd. He had previously previewed it during a showcase in mid-May.

Tour

He has also teased a potential tour tied to the album. During the music video for “K-Pop,” an Easter egg was spotted that reads “Utopia stadium tour rehearsal.”

ASAP Rocky & Travis Scott’s ‘Beef,’ Explained

During ASAP Rocky’s recent performance at Rolling Loud Miami, he seemed to throw some jabs at Travis Scott in an apparent new song. “First you stole my flow so I stole your b*tch, then you stole my style / I need my 10%, all the disrespect, I hope you take offense,” he rapped.

The two performers have been feuding off-and-on for years, but it seems to have been ignited again. It’s also not the first time that Rocky has dissed Scott at Rolling Loud. Back in 2019, according to NME, some had thought his freestyle referenced Scott.

“Please don’t compare him and me / You offending me / This ain’t a diss and we ain’t enemies / They concerned with making hits, I’m more concerned with making history,” Rocky sang at the time. However, a few days later, he tweeted: “THAT ME N TRAVIS BEEF SH*T SO PLAYED OUT , LET IT GO.”

And in 2015, Scott had went after a fan who mistook him. “I’m not motherf*cking ASAP, b*tch,” he fired back in the video.

So, why did it start in the first place? There has been speculation, especially based on Rocky’s recent line, that it started over Rihanna. Scott had reportedly dated her back in 2015 and participated in some songs from her Anti album the following year. However, since then, she has been with Rocky and the couple are expecting their second child.

Despite this, they’ve also had some positive moments together. In 2016, they were allegedly spotted on an airplane together, according to HotNewHipHop.

Here’s hoping these two can patch things up soon.

ASAP Rocky Premiered A Song At Rolling Loud Miami And Some Are Convinced It’s A Shot At Travis Scott

Travis Scott headlined Rolling Loud Miami on Saturday, July 22, and ASAP Rocky handled headlining duties on Sunday, July 23. Scott seemingly revealed the release date of his Utopia album to be July 28, but people are more concerned with what Rocky appeared to do when premiering an unreleased song.

As captured by The Shade Room, Rocky rapped, “First you stole my flow / So I stole your b*tch / Then you stole my style / I need at least 10 percent / All due disrespect, I hope you take offense.”

Some social media users were quick to associate these lyrics with Rocky’s perceived beef with Scott, as you can see below:

In May 2022, Drink Champs questioned Rocky about Scott stealing his style. “You can’t feed into petty sh*t like that, you know what I’m sayin’?” he said. “At this point, that sh*t is trash at this point.” However, Rocky admitted that, in the past, he “saw similarities, for sure. I saw that he was inspired and sh*t like that, but that’s what we in it for.”

Then, there’s the Rihanna matter. Rihanna and Rocky share one child together with another on the way — and they may or may not be headed toward marriage — while Scott was rumored to be with Rihanna in 2015, though neither party publicly commented on the alleged relationship (as chronicled by Insider).

6ix9ine Compares His New Single To Travis Scott’s

Over the weekend we saw a number of major rap artists release new songs. New tracks from A$AP Rocky, Jay Rock and Latto, Nas, Flo Milli, Ice Spice, and more fought for fans’ attention. But two of the most talked about new tracks came from Travis Scott and 6ix9ine. Scott’s song became instantly viral for a number of reasons. Even though the track, which is called “K-POP” won’t appear on Scott’s new album Utopia, the excitement for that project is extraordinary. “K-POP” is also a collaboration with two of the biggest superstars in all of music, The Weeknd and Bad Bunny. Though fan reaction to the song has been mixed it’s no doubt been one of the most talked about new songs this week.

Now, 6ix9ine is claiming that his song “Shaka Laka” is just as popular. He posted a screenshot to Instagram of the music videos for his new song and Travis Scott’s new song, both of which have the same amount of views. In the caption, he explains how his motivations for the post. “NO SHADE POST. THIS IS JUST FOR PEOPLE TO BE AWARE OF THE BULLSH*T IN REAL-TIME. I”M BLACKBALLED FROM RADIO, DSP PLAYLISTING THAT GENERATES THE MAJORITY OF “SIMULATED PLAYS” THEY GIVE THESE ARTISTS. AND IM STILL HERE 4 YEARS LATER AFTER ALL THE CLOSED DOORS COMPETING WITH THE BIGGEST ARTISTS IN THE WORLD,” his post reads.

6ix9ine Comparing Views With Travis Scott

Much like almost everything else the rapper does, 6ix9ine’s new single has been controversial. Much of the controversy spawned from Kodak Black’s decision to collaborate with him on the track. Many took issue with Kodak’s decision to collaborate with the rapper who has long been labeled as a snitch. None did so more vocally than Boosie Badazz who posted a now-viral social media rant objecting to Kodak’s decision.

It went so far that Kodak Black took to his Instagram story to respond, while his baby mother posted a response of her own on Twitter. What do you think of 6ix9ine claiming his song is competing with Travis Scott’s new track? Let us know in the comment section below.
