Method Man Clarifies His Summer Jam “Generation Gap” Comments

Method Man has attempted to clarify his recent comments about performing at Hot 97’s Summer Jam, in which he claimed there was a “generation gap” and he would never return to the festival. He performed at the New York City event with Redman, earlier this month. He reflected on his feelings on doing so with TMZ on Saturday.

“I wasn’t mad at the crowd,” he explained to the outlet. “It was just a generation gap. I showed grace.” He added: “I don’t think it’s fair. I would never point my finger at the crowd for not liking my music…I was there for Mister Cee and it was New York. I figured, I’m in New York, I’m in my backyard. [People] know who I am.”

He made the original comments on Instagram after the performance. “Not our crowd at all,” he wrote at the time. “Thanks again, New York and the whole tri-state (that showed up to the event) plus Pete[er Rosenberg] and Ebro [Darden] I got love for you guys, but never again.. at this point the generation gap is just too wide for me.. #nevercomingback” Afterward, he received tons of support on social media. Soulja Boy even called on the younger generation to show more respect. “That’s New York though,” he remarked to TMZ. “Everybody supposed to know who he is. I don’t know. That’s crazy. I didn’t even know that. There probably be a lot of young people in the audience.”

Lana Del Rey Tries To Snatch Phone From Alleged “Stalker” In Paris: Watch

Lana Del Rey has a reputation for being a serene presence. Her music is slow, meditative, and chilled-out. It’s a core principle of her aesthetic. That being said, things went awry between the singer and a reporter on Friday, June 7. Del Rey was walking around Paris on her day off when a group of people approached her with their phones. The singer accused the people of following her, and proceeded to grab at one of their phones during the exchange.

TMZ obtained the video footage of Lana Del Rey confronting the unidentified people. The outlet notes that it’s unclear whether they are merely fans or photojournalists trying to grab footage of the singer. Either way, she didn’t appreciate being hounded. The video sees her turn around yell at the group in question. “You followed me with my family,” she tells one of them. “Get away from me! Don’t follow me!” Del Rey proceeds to explain that she doesn’t get many days off, and that she desperately wanted time to herself before resuming her grueling schedule. The frustration didn’t subside, however, as the cult icon tried to snatch a phone out of one of the people’s hands.

Lana Del Rey has had a contentious relationship with people trying to pry into her personal life. The music video for her 2015 single “High on the Beach” saw her take a gun and literally shoot down a plane full of paparazzi journalist trying to get a photo of her. She’s been adamant in trying to keep her personal life out of the spotlight, not only to preserve the allure of her persona but for her own comfort. She said as much during a 2015 interview with NME.

“I think my two big goals with work are to make great records, and stay out of the press for the wrong reasons,” she told the outlet. “My family was traditional, and some of my extended family used to say a gentleman is only in the paper two times in his life. When he’s born and when he dies. Obviously, it’s a little too late for me when it comes to that sentiment.”

Jennifer Lopez And Ben Affleck Spotted Holding Hands Despite Divorce Rumors

Much discussion and debate has already been had this year over Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s relationship. It really kicked into gear earlier this month when full-on divorce rumors began to swirl. Following reports that they had broken up J-Lo got caught liking a post that many thought was a subtle message to her hubby, while Ben was spotted out and about without his wedding ring. Since then those photographing Affleck have kept a close eye out on whether or not he’s sporting the ring whenever he’s spotted.

Photographers recently caught the pair leaving the high school graduation of one of Ben’s daughters. Surprisingly they were holding hands while walking together, though TMZ notes they look “tense.” They go on to point out that despite the hand-holding the pair left the graduation separately. After which they returned to the two different houses they’ve been living in. It’s unclear exactly how much to glean from the hand-holding, but the couple are at least able to put their differences aside for a family event. Earlier this week, some potentially bad news for Jennifer Lopez’s previously announces Las Vegas residency emerged. Reports of low ticket sales have circulated already about the residency. But the New York Post reported that it could even cost her the residency itself. A source confirmed to them that negotiations over the residency are still ongoing. The poor performance of Lopez’s current tour certainly isn’t doing much to help her cause.

Madonna Sued Over On-Stage Sexual Content During Her Recent Tour

Last year, Madonna took off on her Celebration Tour. The show was fittingly a celebration of her decades-long career of making hits and evolving his style. The tour was a major attraction for fans both old and new, but it almost didn’t happen in the first place. As the start of the tour was approaching the pop legend had a major health scare that put the whole thing in jeopardy. But she reportedly worked hard to make her way back to a level where she could perform and rescheduled dates she missed.

The impressive feat she accomplished might be slightly undermined by a new lawsuit. According to TMZ a fan who saw her on tour is trying to take the pop icon to court over the sexual content displayed on stage during the performance. The lawsuit claims that she wasn’t clear enough with fans about the erotic content that would be on display. Fan Has Some Big Complaints About Madonna’s Tour

One of the most memorable moments on the Celebration tour came back in March. That was when the singer was joined on stage by Cardi B for a particularly raunchy edition of her 1990 smash hit “Vogue.” Last year the pop legend teamed up with The Weeknd and Playboi Carti for the hit song “Popular.” The song was part of a series of soundtrack releases for the Weeknd affiliated show The Idol which aired on HBO last year and was met with harsh criticism. Diddy’s Sean John Eyeglasses Brand Dropped By Major Retailer

It’s been a difficult year for Diddy, one that’s led many people and brands to cut ties with him entirely. Even for those that have been completely silent or even defenders of the legendary rap figure they recently hit a point of no return. That came earlier this month when CNN leaked a video of hotel security footage. In the clip the rap mogul appears to assault Cassie in full view of the camera, something she first accused him of in a lawsuit last year. In fact, her lawsuit served as the beginning of the recent series of trouble for Diddy.

While many have focused on the social repercussions he’s faced from various members of the music industry he’s collaborated with in the past decades, that isn’t all he’s dealing with. There’s also been a consistent undertone of business connections deteriorating, something he’s once again facing today. According to TMZ one of the major retailers for glasses, America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses is severing their ties with him. The consequences have been coming fast for Diddy in recent weeks. A push had been made recently for his star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame to be removed. Nas Tapped As Potential Recipient Of The Key To New York City If It’s Revoked From Diddy

Having the key to New York City rescinded from him wouldn’t come close to the biggest problems Diddy is facing right now. The rap mogul has faced months of lawsuits leveling pretty serious accusations of bad behavior across decades. Just this week yet another lawsuit was filed against him. The newest includes claims that he drugged and sexually assaulted a model. Over the weekend, hotel security footage was leaked by CNN that shows Diddy allegedly assaulting Cassie. The video backed up claims made by Cassie in a lawsuit filed late last year.

Now that the controversy has built up, fans online are calling for various boycotts of Diddy. Recently, exercise equipment company Peloton announced they would be removing his music from all future classes they put out. There’s also been plenty of pressure applied by both fans and even members of government themselves for the rap mogul’s key to the city to be revoked. When TMZ spoke to come representatives about it, a different rap figure from the city’s history emerged as a potential replacement, Nas. Diddy first received the key to the city last year, just a few months before the lawsuit filed by Cassie dropped.

Nas just wrapped up a prolific 4 years run of new albums produced by Hit-Boy. The pair released an impressive 6 albums together in that span across two different trilogies. Magic 2 and Magic 3 dropped last year concluding their work together. Nas has continued to share new music videos from the two albums into this year. He also recently revealed a special orchestra show to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his debut album Illmatic.

50 Cent Mocks TMZ After Selling Diddy Docuseries To Netflix

50 Cent had a busy May 21. The rapper has had a field day with the downfall of his fellow NY mogul, Diddy. He not only made fun of Diddy on social media, but he secured distribution for his anticipated documentary series on the mogul’s various crimes. The docuseries, tentatively titled Diddy Do It, was bought by Netflix after a lengthy bidding war. A bidding war that 50 celebrated by poking fun at TMZ.

TMZ broke the news of the Netflix acquisition. They claimed that multiple networks and virtually all the streaming platforms were trying to purchase the docuseries, given how much attention the Diddy saga had gotten in the last few months. “[The] new Diddy docuseries will hit the streamer sooner than later,” the outlet added. 50 Cent’s decision to go with Netflix makes perfect sense, given the success that the platform has had with other true crime shows.

The rapper did not appreciate TMZ’s coverage of the story, however. He reposted a screenshot of the article on his Instagram and noted that the outlet used a photo of him when he was noticeably heavier. His theory? TMZ is salty because they recently put a Diddy documentary of their own: The Downfall of Diddy. “TMZ use this fat boy picture of me because their doc went to Tubi LOL,” he wrote on IG. “It’s ok guys we’re all making good television mines just happens to be the best.”

50 Cent went on note that he may have to produce more episodes of his docuseries if more harrowing Diddy allegations surface. “Netflix wins the bidding war but if more victims keep coming out I’m gonna need more episodes,” he added. This Instagram post comes only a few hours after the rapper reacted to the latest assault claims leveled at Diddy. A former model named Crystal McKinney filed a lawsuit against Diddy for an alleged 2003 incident, and 50 once again blasted the Bad Boy founder. “This my last puffy post I think he might kill himself,” he wrote. “I don’t want no parts of that.” The rapper later deleted the post.

Diddy’s Case Could Be Harmed By Leaked Cassie Video, According To Ex-Prosecutor

Over the weekend a leaked video of Diddy became a lightning rod for reactions from the rap media at large. That’s because the clip showed hotel security camera footage of the rap mogul allegedly assaulting Cassie. It corroborated allegations that she first made in a lawsuit filed against the rap mogul last year. Though the suit was settled quickly, it became the first in a series of lawsuits filed alleging decades of bad behavior. The most notable was Lil Rod’s lawsuit filed in February which made some pretty outlandish claims related to some other celebs.

Much more pressing for Diddy himself though is the federal investigation into allegations of sex trafficking against him. It first became public knowledge back in March when the Feds raided two of his properties in Miami and LA. In response to the new video, TMZ recruited an expert in former federal prosecutor Katie Cherkasky. She discussed the implications of the new video on the investigation into the rapper by the federal government. While she clarified that it isn’t a “smoking gun” for the specific investigation he’s facing, it won’t do him any favors both in the public eye and in the still very much ongoing investigation. Derek Chauvin Facing $9 Million Lawsuit From Excessive Force Claim Predating George Floyd’s Death

It’s been a few years since Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was convicted of murdering George Floyd. He was found guilty of second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter. The charges came from an incident in 2020 where he used excessive force that resulted in the tragic death of Floyd. His death served as an inciting incident sparking protests all across America against police violence and lack of accountability. Now according to a new lawsuit, it may not have been the first time Chauvin used similar excessive force on someone.

According to TMZ, a lawsuit filed by a woman named Patricia Dawn Welch Day cites similar use of excessive force as what would go on to happen to Floyd. She accuses Chauvin and another officer named Ellen Jensen of using unnecessary force on her during a 2020 incident. She claims she was violently removed from her car with no cause and thrown to the ground where she sustained multiple injuries. After that, she alleges she was handcuffed and Chauvin placed his knee on her back. The lawsuit describes the action as similar to what would ultimately end George Floyd’s life.

The lawsuit also takes aim at the Minneapolis Police Department. The MPD have been subject of tons of controversy both before Floyd’s murder and since. The lawsuit alleges that there was body cam footage verifying Day’s claims but that the department ignored it. Their overlooking of the evidence allowed the officers to continue working and eventually led to the death of George Floyd. She’s seeking $9 million from both officers in the case. That’s in addition to compensatory and punitive damages of an unknown amount.

Common Explains Why He Won’t Watch Diddy And Cassie Video

Everyone in the rap world is discussing the newly leaked Diddy and Cassie video, at least, almost everyone is. Over the weekend CNN shared a difficult to watch new clip of hotel security camera footage showing the rap mogul allegedly assaulting Cassie. The video mirrored allegations that Cassie made last year when she sued Diddy, which served as the first of multiple lawsuits that emerged against him in the months following. But not everyone is following the developments so closely.

Recently. TMZ caught up with Common where they asked him a few questions. He kicked the interaction off with an expert dodging of some proposal questions, instead promoting his upcoming album with Pete Rock which is coming this summer. For their next question, the interviewers just assume that he’s been following the developing situation surrounding Diddy. But the “GO!” rapper actually clarifies that he hasn’t seen the video yet. He reveals that he avoids things with negative vibes and instead chooses to focus on positivity.
