Playboi Carti Delivered A Hypnotic Banger With “Over”

Playboi Carti has been dropping a whole lot of music as of late. Overall, this is kind of surprising. Carti is a mysterious artist and we don’t typically hear him drop singles in succession. However, he has given us three incredible tracks in just a short amount of time. It has been an impressive display, and fans are definitely happy about what they are hearing. With that said, his upcoming album is certainly making us nostalgic for Whole Lotta Red.

It also helps that Whole Lotta Red dropped on Christmas Day in 2020. At the height of the pandemic, Carti swooped in and ultimately saved Christmas. The album may have been a bit divisive at first, but there is no doubt that it was a success. At this point, it is considered a classic, and on this wonderful Thursday, we offer a throwback. Below, you can find the track “Over” which was a callback of sorts to 2018’s Die Lit.

Snoop Dogg Mixed Comedy With Gangsta Rap On 2000 Hit “Lay Low” Featuring Master P, Nate Dogg, And More

Snoop Dogg’s legacy is firmly cemented within hip-hop lore. He has iconic albums, is one of the best entrepreneurs, and is highly respected amongst his peers, past and present. With so many records under his belt, some are going to get lost in the shuffle. One of which is 2000’s Tha Last Meal.

The LP marks his fifth effort and some of his more underrated material on it. It was released on this day 23 years ago. Today, we wanted to shed light on a funny but also serious West Coast groove from it. “Lay Low” saw Snoop assemble a tremendous cast of artists and producers for a rowdy banger.

Listen To “Lay Low” By Snoop Dogg, Master P, Nate Dogg, Butch Cassidy, And Tha Eastsidaz

It features the likes of legends Master P, Nate Dogg, as well as Butch Cassidy and Tha Eastsidaz. Additionally, Dr. Dre is in the mix behind the board and on the mic. He kicks the track with a spoken word bit before one of the greatest hook writers comes in. Nate brings gnarly but admittedly quite amusing lyrics to the table. The beat has that familiar West Coast/G-funk style that hits heavy. Revisit the track with the link above.

Beyonce’s “Drunk In Love” Turns 10

For Beyonce, 2023 has been a non-stop party, and she’s not done celebrating quite yet. Her RENAISSANCE World Tour only made the BeyHive adore their queen more. Those who didn’t catch the big show in person were able to see the Houston native in theatres this fall. Today (December 17) is another important date for Queen B – the tenth anniversary of her “Drunk In Love” single, one of the most popular tracks to come from her self-titled album.

It marks yet another collaboration between her and Jay-Z (following releases like “03′ Bonnie & Clyde,” “Family Feud,” and The Carters album, just to name a few). For her part, Bey lets her freak flag fly all through her verse. “I’ve been drinkin’, I’ve been drinkin’ / I get filthy when that liquor get into me,” she sultrily sings over her own production, with help from Detail and The Order. “I’ve been thinkin’, I’ve been thinkin’ / Why can’t I keep my fingers off it?” the mother of three ponders before later passing the mic off to her husband.

Fat Joe’s Menacing Throwback Proves He Was Honest In “5%” Of His Raps

Recently, Fat Joe weighed in on Young Thug’s RICO case, coming to the YSL Records founder’s defense. Prosecutors are attempting to use Thugger’s song lyrics against him, arguing that they portray the criminally charged lifestyle they accuse him of taking part in. He chatted with CNN‘s Gayle King about the matter, claiming that very few of his own lyrics actually reflect the truth.

“I’ve been rapping professionally for 30 years,” he described. “I’ve lied in almost 95 percent of my songs. I’m being honest. I write like I feel that day. I’m just being creative. You couldn’t build a jail high enough for the lyrics I’ve said on songs, which are all untrue. What I am is a family man, the person who gives back to my community all the time, opens businesses in my community.”

Fat Joe Shares Old Gun Photo

The New York native received a bit of backlash for his comments and later took to Instagram Live to explain himself. According to him, even though most of his lyrics are simply a result of his creativity, he still “lived a real f*cking life in the streets.” Now, he’s provided his IG followers with some evidence of that life, posting an old throwback photo. In the photo, a young Fat Joe is seen pointing a gun at the camera, rocking a leather jacket and a black hat. “This was the other 5%,” he captioned it, adding a laughing emoji.

Following his comments about lying in his raps, Joe Budden chimed in, accusing him of making that up. “First of all, Fat Joe is lying,” he said. “That’s number one. Fat Joe is lying. That is a lie!” What do you think of Fat Joe’s comments about lying in his songs? What about his old throwback gun photo? Nicki Minaj & Eminem Cooked Up On Off-The-Wall Banger With “Roman’s Revenge”

Nicki Minaj just dropped Pink Friday 2, which is her first album in five years. Overall, this is a project that is set to be number one on the Billboard charts. Fans are liking it so far, and while there are a few detractors, many are just happy to have some new Nicki music. Having said all of that, there is a lot of nostalgia right now for Nicki’s old stuff. For instance, her 2010 album Pink Friday is getting a whole lot of love. Furthermore, Nicki is teasing the return of her Alter Ego Roman, which means we have to show love to the song that started it all, “Roman’s Revenge.”

“Roman’s Revenge” is a song that certainly sticks out on Pink Friday. The album is a mixture of pop and rap that made a huge splash on the industry. As far as this song is concerned, Nicki cooked up something truly different for the time. The production is off-the-wall and her flows are out there. Furthermore, she goes bar for bar with Eminem, which is no easy task. Unfortunately, the song is plagued by some awfully outdated bars from Em, but the track remains iconic, regardless.

Xzibit Brought Some Funk And Great Rhyme Schemes To “Alkaholik” Featuring Erick Sermon, J-Ro, & Tash

Xzibit has noticeably slowed down since 2020. That was the last year that the iconic West Coast rapper put out a full-length album. It was a collaborative record with B-Real and Demrick, called Serial Killers Presents: Summer of Sam. But, we all need to remember that the Dr. Dre collaborator possessed some incredible talent. That is why we want to go back in the time machine and look at his most successful record.

23 years ago today, Restless dropped. It was a 16-song, 59-minute-long album that featured the likes of Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and many others. One of the tracks that so many remember from this tape is “Alkaholik.” That had placements from J-Ro, Erick Sermon, and Tash.

The song effortlessly mixed funkiness with tremendous rhyming from Xzibit and the gang. “Alkaholik” interpolates the production from Kelis’ “Caught Out There.” What makes the sample so great is that on this track it takes on a vintage video game-like feeling. Everyone brought the right energy for this party-ready classic.

What were your initial thoughts on “Alkaholik” by Xzibit, Erick Sermon, J-Ro, and Tash when it first came out? Is this the best song off of Restless, if not what is better? Do you think this is Xzibit’s best album, why or why not? Who had the best performance on this track? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest breaking news around Xzibit. Kid Cudi, Skepta, & Pop Smoke Effortlessly Blended Psychedelic Trap And Drill On “Show Out”

Kid Cudi’s Man On the Moon series has been a cherished one ever since the first one debuted back in 2009. Each installment has provided some iconic hip-hop tracks for the 2010s decade and has helped define Cudster as an artist. What we have come to know and love about the Cleveland, Ohio native is that he is a malleable talent who is not afraid to try different sounds.

One of the prime examples of this occurs on his third entry, Man On the Moon III: The Chosen. We wanted to take a look back as the album is now three years old. Arguably the most memorable and well-put-together song is “Show Out.” On face value, you might be scratching your head as to how this would make sense. Seeing Skepta and Pop Smoke, two of the best drill artists, with a psychedelic pop rapper, does not sound like a recipe for success.

However, when you hear this song, everything just clicks. The beat from Dot da Genius is woozy and atmospheric, while also incorporating the familiar drill production style. On top of that, all of the performances are great. Pop does wonders on the hook. His smoky voice layers perfectly on top of the instrumental. Skepta shreds his verse with ease and Cudi finds a nice pocket on the drill and spacey ends of the beat. Another chance taken, another success for Cudi.

What were your initial thoughts on “Show Out” by Kid Cudi, Skepta, and Pop Smoke, off Man On the Moon III: The Chosen? Is this the best song from this album? Who had the best performance on the track? Does this record still hold a place in your rotation, why or why not? Finally, is where does this Man On the Moon installment rank amongst the rest? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. PnB Rock’s Girlfriend Celebrates His 32nd Birthday With Throwback Snaps: Photos

PnB Rock’s girlfriend, Stephanie Sibounheuang, is making sure that her late boo’s legacy is kept alive and well, and that he continues to impact his loved ones in positive ways. Moreover, Friday (December 9) marked what would’ve been his 32nd birthday, if not for the tragic shooting that took his life in September of last year. On Instagram, the rapper’s baby mama posted various throwback snaps of some good times together in order to commemorate the occasion. “Happy Glo Day To The Best To Ever Do It!” she wrote as her post’s caption on the social media platform. “I Still Hate Every [ninja emoji] That’s Not You! I Love & Miss You.”

A couple of months ago, Sibounheuang reflected on the one-year anniversary of PnB Rock’s passing. “I’ve been in the deepest depression for a lil min contemplating todays date, which makes a year since your transition,” she expressed on Instagram. “I argued with God about openly reliving this day and i absolutely did not want to, so this is an act of obedience. This same day last year, you could look into my eyes and and tell my soul was not in my body. All I could hear were the gunshots over and over and they were so LOUD I couldn’t hear myself think. I was so terrified and heartbroken.

Drake Posts Throwback Pics While Reminiscing On His Relationships: Photos

Apparently Drake is feeling quite nostalgic these days, because he just took to Instagram with a throwback post on Sunday (December 10). Moreover, it features pictures of him from presumably over ten years ago, whether it’s with drinks, family at a meal, what looks like a record company or label office, or with his friends and partners. It’s always wild to look back at Drizzy’s earlier phases, as you can tell how much fashion has changed and you’re reminded that this wasn’t the biggest star in the world at one point. Recently, he also shared a clip of himself singing along to one of his old songs, so maybe he’s just in a reminiscent mood.

“I’m a nice guy but deep down a ice cold Toronto soul in a mink coat… but if you knew me back then you should already know,” Drake’s latest Instagram throwback post’s caption read. “ATF Precise Ent. Heartfelt Music Group Get Faded.” In addition to looking back on the past, the Toronto superstar is also making sure to spend some quality time with fans whenever he gets the chance. While on vacation, he bought some fans a round of shots, which they surely appreciated a lot.

Drake’s Throwback Pics: Take A Look

Meanwhile, Drake recently appeared as a featured guest on “Needle,” one of many highlights off of the new album Pink Friday 2. Considering how important Young Money’s come-up was and how much they helped each other along the way, we love to see him and Nicki Minaj remain on good terms and supporting each other. We just wish that Aubrey Graham would’ve also included Queen Barb on his latest record, For All The Dogs, but alas, we were unlucky. Plenty of fans took this further and got straight-up mad, but you can’t always get what you want.

Also, there are these beef rumors with Metro Boomin that might be one of the biggest tragedies when it comes to two artists we love not getting along. Do you think they’re really on bad terms or are we reading too deeply into things? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments section down below. J. Cole’s “January 28” Is In Contention For His Best Song Ever: “2014 Forest Hills Drive” Turns 9

There is that running joke around J. Cole about going platinum with no features. But, it is incredibly impressive what he was able to pull off. To put it in some context, he is the first rapper since 1990 to accomplish this. He achieved that on March 31, 2015. The record we are referring to is his 2014 record, Forest Hills Drive. A wide range of critics, listeners, and Cole fans will tell you that this is his greatest body of work.

Honestly, when you take a look at the tracklist, it is kind of easy to see why. Of course, everyone knows “No Role Modelz.” But, you have deeper cuts like “G.O.M.D.,” “Love Yourz,” and “Apparently.” The tape is now nine years old, but it is aging beautifully. Speaking of which, another one of those tracks that is still perfect is “January 28.”

Relisten To “January 28” By J. Cole

While one-liners certainly do not make or break how good a song is, there are so many great ones on here. Some of them are below, but you can find a bevy of them. One example is, “Flow bananas, here, peel this back.” But, it is not just those, the overall writing is terrific. What’s the price for a black man life? I check the toe tag, not one zero in sight.” On top of that, the beat is mellow, but also hard-hitting, and Cole’s flows slip and slide through it.

What were your initial thoughts on J. Cole’s, “January 28,” from 2014 Forest Hills Drive? Is this the best song on this project, why or why not? Where does this song rank all-time in Cole’s discography? Overall, is this album his best body work? We would like to hear what you have you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest breaking news around J. Cole.

Quotable Lyrics:

Like show me New York’s ladder
