The Game Challenges Eminem To A Rap Battle In A Clip From Uproxx’s ‘Fresh Pair’

At the end of last year, it was announced that sneaker-customizer-to-the-stars Katty Customs would be teaming up with Grammy-nominated and multi-Platinum producer Just Blaze for Fresh Pair, a new show on Uproxx. The upcoming series — set to launch in early summer ’22 — features Katty and Just teaming up to make custom sneakers for some of the biggest names in entertainment. After the hard work of crafting the shoe is done, the hosts sit down with each guest to discuss their careers and how those careers inspired these unique, 1-of-1 kicks.

In a clip from the show — released today, along with a show trailer — The Game chops it up with Katty and Just Blaze. It’s here that he makes a stern challenge to Eminem, clarifying previous mentions of an Em-focused diss track by his manager, Wack 100 — which stemmed from The Game’s appearance on Drink Champs last month. In that interview, The Game claimed that he could not only beat Eminem in a Verzuz but that he is also a better rapper overall. His comments received plenty of criticism, and during his time on Fresh Pair, The Game responded to the criticism with tremendous nuance.

“I’ve always told myself that ‘you are the best rapper!’” The Game said after pointing out how the late Kobe Bryant was often compared to Michael Jordan. “Everything that we do, if you’re doing it on this level that we’re doing it at, is some type of competition. Usain Bolt ain’t running around the track by himself in the Olympics. It’s n****s trying to beat him and he’s trying to beat somebody.”

The Game added that his comments towards Eminem were to “challenge him” and “challenge hip-hop.” He makes it very clear that this isn’t about violence, it’s only about rap. Just Blaze then asked The Game why he’s taking aim at Eminem specifically, and The Game revealed that it’s tied to his longtime beef with 50 Cent.

“50 can’t rap,” The Game said. “So I gotta go a level up and challenge the better rapper, that’s why. And not to take nothing away from what 50’s doing, he can see it and tweet it, but he knows I’m gonna respond. Or he can go rap about it, but he knows he’s gonna lose that battle.” He later added, speaking of 50: “When it comes to rap, he can’t out-rap me. Your buddy can rap though, and nobody takes shots at Eminem off this preconceived notion that he’s better than everybody. Well, I want action and I want it today.”

The clip is paired with a trailer for Fresh Pair that reveals five of the eight season 1 guests — Jadakiss, Jim Jones, El-P, Styles P, and The Game. The show is set to air on Uproxx and Youtube.com/UproxxVideo.

ICYMI: Wack 100 Says The Game Will Soon Release a Diss Aimed at Eminem

The Game to young rappers advice

Last month, The Game stated he was a better rapper than Eminem. Today, his manager Wack 100 states the Compton rapper has a diss toward Slim Shady tucked away.

Hopping on Clubhouse, Wack says fans will hear the shots toward Eminem in The Game’s next single.

“We startin’ a fire, the Black Slim Shady is coming,” Wack said. “That nigga better be ready, because this nigga done went crazy.”

Wack was asked to confirm if it was a target toward Em, which he did, stating that the legendary rapper would want to respond and citing that The Game had no boundaries in his diss because Eminem is comfortable dissing his mother and the mother of his children.

In March, The Game’s appearance on Drink Champs had all of Hip-Hop going crazy. Speaking with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN, the Compton legend had a lot to get off his chest. One of those statements was directed toward Eminem, who he wants to see in a V.E.R.Z.U.Z. battle.

The Game honored Eminem as one of the great MCs before he would take the chance to boost himself, “I used to think Eminem was better than me.” After N.O.R.E. as The Game to expound, he let off a confident statement: “He’s not.”

The Drink Champs host challenged the notion, leading to The Game confidently stating he could go head-to-head with Marshall Mathers. You can hear it from The Game below.

Meanwhile, someone else has decided to dead his beef with Eminem.

The Game Unsurprisingly Doesn’t Think The Oscars Should Investigate Will Smith Over That Slap

Will Smith smacking Chris Rock at this Sunday’s Oscars ceremony remains the hot topic of conversation on social media as more celebrities and guests share their thoughts on the surprising (but not that surprising) incident. While some, like co-host Amy Schumer, continue to pretend that it was the most traumatizing event of their lives, others, such as Daniel Radcliffe, are “dramatically bored” by the overblown kerfuffle, which distracted from other meaningful conversations like celebrating Questlove and his collaborators’ Summer Of Soul win.

And while the actors are all seemingly aghast that a man from West Philadelphia would physically confront another man from Brooklyn (two places where such things are a fairly regular occurrence, to be honest), Will’s fellow rappers seem less distraught on the whole. While 50 Cent, Drake, Nicki Minaj, and others either expressed sympathy for Smith or made jokes about the slap, others like Lil Nas X trolled the hilarious overreactions by fans on Twitter who brought up weird and frankly unlikely hypotheticals to score woke points. Now, another member of that fraternity has weighed in.

Compton rapper The Game posted a long caption pointing out the hypocrisy of the Academy for launching a disciplinary investigation. “They didn’t even want to give it to him in the first place,” he posited. “He acted off impulse & imposed a slap down out of frustration & embarrassment on behalf of his wife. Most people with opinions on the situation don’t have a committed relationship let alone a marriage of over 20 years to weigh against his feelings in the matter. He’s human & comedy is not always an excuse to publicly humiliate people especially while sitting front & center. Although violence anywhere is & should always be depicted in a negative light, this was a lul ass slap in defense of a woman battling a very delicate health issue. I’ll close by saying, they don’t want us to be equal, never have & never will.”

Of course, it’s unsurprising that The Game would side with Will in this situation, considering he got in hot water for a similar situation at the Drew League a few years ago. But he also makes some strong points, especially in calling out how several prior winners, including Harvey Weinstein and Roman Polanski, were allowed to keep awards even after being investigated by police — and in Weinstein’s case, convicted — of way worse things than delivering a love tap to a fellow member during a live broadcast.

In any case, I’m probably with Harry Potter on all of this. There are way more important things going on in the world; maybe we should focus on those.

The Game and June James Link For A Studio Session

Despite how anyone feels about The Game, the one thing anyone can’t deny is his talent on the microphone. You can say this about Game, you can say that about Game, but you have to give him credit for his rap skills. He’s proved it this year with his verse on Kanye’s DONDA album. The Compton rapper delivered arguably the verse of 2022 thus far on “Eazy.”

Now he’s back in the booth. The Game is ready to rap, so it’s only right that he linked with a hot hitmaker. Yesterday the Houston-born producer June James took to social media to share a picture of him and The Game in the studio.

The Game has been around Hip-Hop for years and June has been behind tons of beats that helped shape the culture for years. The Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum producer has credit for making beats like “Everyday We Lit” by YFN Lucci. He did “Yosemite” by Travis Scott, and let’s not forget “Put A Date On It” by Yo Gotti and Lil Baby. Those were just a few hits, but he’s made several more.

It’s uncertain if The Game plans to put out a project soon, but what is almost for sure certain June gave him a fire beat. We’ll follow up on what transpires between these two, but for now, you can go listen to Game’s verse on “Eazy” or get familiar with June James by digging up his discography.

A Few of June’s hits are below.
