Reason Boldly States J. Cole Will Surpass Kendrick Lamar After “The Fall Off”

Reason’s issues with Top Dawg Entertainment spilled out into the public eye last week. The TDE rapper and label president Moosa went head-to-head on the Bacc On Figg podcast over Reason’s release schedule. However, one thing Reason made clear is that he’s received plenty of love from the Dreamville crew over the years. He’s a frequent contributor to the Dreamville compilation efforts and it seems that he got the opportunity to hear some new music from J Cole.

During a recent interview on New Rory & Mal, Reason reflected on Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse before sharing his thoughts on J Cole’s upcoming album, The Fall Off. Reason explained that Cole is on pace to surpass Kendrick Lamar once the new album drops. “I think when The Fall Off drops, only on the strength of — ’cause TDE fans are f**king crazy — not ’cause he’s better than Dot, but just because he’s been more active. I feel like when The Fall Off drops, the fruits of his labor from being so active are gonna show,” Reason explained.

Reason On J Cole’s New Album

Fans have frequently debated whether J Cole or Kendrick Lamar is the better rapper. Although Kendrick’s earned a list of accolades that have set him apart from his peers in hip-hop, J Cole’s undoubtedly been far more consistent in recent years. Projects like K.O.D. and The Off-Season silenced many of Cole’s critics over the years. However, Reason feels as though Kendrick and J Cole have their respective moments. “But they’ve done this for years, though. To me, they’ve kinda like — Dot is bigger at this point, Cole [is bigger at that point]. They’ve kinda done that for a long time,” he explained.

Reason is fresh off of the release of his latest album, Porches, which arrived on Aug. 11th. The body of work boasts an array of features from TDE artists including Doechii, Ray Vaughn, Sir, and Zacari. Artists like Baby Tate and London Money also appear across the tracklist. Maybe, we’ll see him on J Cole’s upcoming album, which has yet to secure a release date. We’ll keep you posted on anymore updates.

Summer Walker Reveals She Cried Listening to J. Cole’s Feature on Her ‘Clear 2: Soft Life’ EP

Summer Walker Returns with New 'CLEAR 2: Soft Life' EP

J. Cole dropped his latest verse on Summer Walker’s Clear 2: Soft Life EP. If you haven’t heard it, go do that, as it is one of the best verses of the year.

Walker was a guest on Yung Miami’s Caresha Please, and she spoke about “Audio Hug” and how it made her feel, revealing she was pregnant and cried at the result.

“I had asked him to do a song, he really didn’t get time to do it,” Walker revealed. “He wanted to meet and I was so fucking pregnant that I was just like, ‘oh my God, I can’t.’ I don’t know if you seen them damn pictures, I was like 200 pounds. My ankles were huge. It was crazy.

“So we didn’t meet. He did end up sending me something called ‘Audio Hug.’ It’s so sweet. I cried when I heard it. He was just being hella sweet and just saying that he sees all the shit that I went through and if I ever need to call him for anything. It was just cool.”

J. Cole delivered his second feature verse in back-to-back weeks. Coming off his stellar performance on Lil Durk’s “All My Life,” J. Cole delivered Summer Walker an “audio hug” on her CLEAR 2: Soft Life EP.

The song is officially titled “To Summer, From Cole,” and through his verse, he shares his admiration for Walker and all her work as a mother, his own parenting, and more. One piece of the verse that stands out to fans is he once again mentions his The Fall Off album.

“I find it amazing, the way that you juggle your kids, the biz, the fame, the bitches that’s hatin’
They sit around waiting for you to fall off like the album I’m making”

– J. Cole

In February, J. Cole‘s manager, Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad, teased the project on Twitter.

Ib tweeted the album’s title in response to a tweet asking about which J. Cole album fans would love to hear performed front to back. The tweet prompted fans to believe the album is coming.

J. Cole Confirms He’s Working On “The Fall Off” On Summer Walker’s EP

There really hasn’t been a shortage of music from J Cole over the past few years. The Dreamville co-founder unveiled a series of solid projects since K.O.D including efforts alongside his labelmates and a string of stand-out features. However, following the release of The Off-Season, he announced two other projects: It’s A Boy and The Fall Off. So far, he hasn’t shared a release date or a timeline of when to expect it but it looks like it’ll be arriving soon.

Summer Walker’s new project, Clear 2: Soft Life EP, arrived in its entirety this morning, which includes a surprise feature from J Cole. The North Carolina rapper opens up the project on “To Summer, From Cole (Audio Hug).” In the song, Cole provides fans with a promising update on the status of his next project. The rapper confirmed that he’s currently in the studio cheffing the project up, rapping, “I find it amazing the way that you juggle your kids, the biz, the fame/ The bitches that’s hatin’, they sit around waitin’ for you to fall off, like the album I’m makin’.”

J Cole’s “The Fall Off” Is On The Way

Prior to Summer Walker’s EP, the “GOMD” rapper addressed the project, which he’s hinted as his last, on Dreamville’s Creed III soundtrack. Cole delivered a verse for “Adonis Interlude (The Montage)” where he discussed the anticipated project. “Just cop ‘The Fall Off’ and he’ll explain/ Is it the end of the chapter? Happily ever after?/ Bet this gon’ be the year that fulfill his reign, man,” the rapper said. Hopefully, with the recent updates, and collaborations alongside Lil Durk and Summer Walker, who both performed at Dreamville Festival, The Fall Off will arrive soon.

Cole has been scattering hints of the project’s release across the majority of his features. Earlier this year, J. Cole joined forces with J-Hope of BTS fame for their collaboration, “On The Streets.” Once again, he teased the possibility of retirement. “Some days, I wonder if I need to pick a different hobby/ I’m deep in with this rappin’, it’s all a n***a know/ I never didn’t nothin’ better, it’s hard to let it go/ But like a father watching his daughter walk down the altar with tears in his eyes/ You gotta let her grow,” he said.

J. Cole’s Manager Hints At A New Album Dropping Soon

J Cole laid out a plan for a handful of albums in 2020. His post-K.O.D. plans included the release of The Off-Season, which arrived in 2021, as well as The Fall Off and It’s A Boy. All three projects were described as part of “The Fall Off Era.” “I still got some goals I gotta check off for’ I scram…,” he captioned the post. Though we got one out of the three projects, fans have evidently waited for even more music from the Fayetteville native.

J Cole hasn’t left fans empty-handed, though. Last year, he joined the Dreamville roster for D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape, which boasted records like “Stick” and “Freedom Of Speech.” Additionally, he delivered a few stand-out guest features on songs like “Johnny P’s Caddy” by Benny The Butcher and Bia’s “London.” In the midst of these releases, he’s also embarked on a career in professional basketball, which, for the most part, has been short-lived. However, he seems to be cooking up these days and a new project could be arriving soon.

Dreamville’s Ib Hints At New Music From J. Cole

J. Cole’s manager and Dreamville co-founder, Ibrahim Hamad, shared a brief but promising update on Instagram last night. Team Dreamville shared a tweet where they asked fans which J Cole album they’d want to hear live in its entirety. As fans shared their preferences, Ib quoted the tweet and simply wrote, “The Fall Off.” Ib didn’t elaborate any further but it seems like he’s fueling anticipation for J. Cole’s next studio album. Hopefully, a release date will come shortly after.

In the past month, Cole’s blessed fans with a few gems to hold them over. Last month, he released “Procrastination (Broke)” through a producer Bvtman’s YouTube channel that he discovered while searching “J. Cole Beats.” Shortly after, he co-produced Cordae and Anderson .Paak’s “Two Tenz,” alongside Dem Joints. However, it’s possible we get more new music from J. Cole soon as Dreamville announced that they are executive producing the Creed III soundtrack, which drops on March 3rd, along with the film. Cole hasn’t confirmed any contributions to the soundtrack but it seems likely given Dreamville’s role on the project.

Fans Think J. Cole Is About To Drop A New Album After He Cleared His Instagram Page

It looks like new music from J. Cole may arrive in 2023. The rapper’s latest stunt has fans abuzz.

Yesterday (January 2), fans noticed that Cole cleared his Instagram page. Soon after, fans began sharing their theories online.

“j. cole instagram is empty, time to rise & shine,” said one Twitter user.

In 2021, Cole dropped his sixth studio album, The Off-Season. Months before, he revealed via social media that The Off-Season would be part of a series of projects leading up to the release of The Fall Off, which he first teased back in 2018 with the closing track of his KOD album, which was titled “1985 (Intro To ‘The Fall Off’).

The item on the list reads “It’s A Boy.” It’s unknown if this is the title of an album, but fans seem to think so.

“J. Cole just cleared his Instagram,” said another Twitter user. “y’all think he’s gonna drop It’s A Boy on January 28th this year?”

January 28 is Cole’s birthday, and also the name of a song from his 2014 album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive.

As of now, the only hint of new music from Cole himself is the cleared-off Instagram page, however, fans have been theorizing since as early as last year about what It’s A Boy could potentially be about.

“J. Cole will drop his It’s A Boy project and showcase why fatherhood is dope,” said one Twitter user last month, sharing their music predictions for 2023.

J. Cole Fuels New Album Speculation After Clearing Instagram Page

J Cole appears to be readying for something special. Either that or he’s preparing to go off the grid even further.

Last night, fans quickly noticed that J. Cole cleared his entire Instagram page. Though it’s not a clear indication of anything, most artists clear their IG to suggest new music is coming. Cole, himself, previously used this tactic when he released “MIDDLE CHILD.”

It’s been roughly two years since the release of The Off Season, an album that seemingly kicked off The Fall Off era. The rapper previously revealed that he had three albums in the works ahead of The Fall Off. At this point, fans are eager to hear what he has up his sleeve, especially if wiping his IG is an indication that new music is on the way. Many believe that the rapper could be preparing to drop a project titled It’s A Boy or The Fall Off in the coming weeks.

Besides his own releases, there’s a chance that the next project he’s working on might not actually be a solo effort. Dreamville was called on to executive produce the forthcoming soundtrack for Creed III starring Michael B. Jordan.

J Cole has remained active in the past year through a spree of features. He gave stand-out verses to BIA, Smino, and Benny The Butcher. However, he also came through with a brand new project from Dreamville, D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape. The album, which boasted songs like “Stick” and “Freedom Of Speech,” arrived just ahead of the return of Dreamville Festival.

Cole also continued his pursuit of a basketball career last year with a brief stint in the Canadian Elite Basketball League. The rapper joined the Scarborough Shooting Stars for a few games before departing from the league to fulfill touring obligations.

We’ll keep you posted on what J. Cole has up his sleeves this year.

Kaash Paige And 6lack Reminisce On Past Friendships In Their Astronomical ‘Miss My Dawgs’ Video

Kaash Paige and 6lack have dropped the video for their new collaboration, “Miss My Dawgs.

In the video, directed by Marmo Films, Paige is seen navigating a spacecraft solo. As she walks about the ship, she reminisces on past friendships, however, she knows better than to rekindle them.

6lack is seen on a different planet, finding comfort in his solitude, before he is joined by Paige. Then, the two embrace, knowing that they can trust in each other. Paige and 6lack then hop in the spacecraft and set off to the next destination.

Paige’s second album, The Fall Off, arrives this fall via Def Jam. She detailed The Fall Off in a recent interview with Billboard, Paige detailed the album, noting that it will include pop records, as well as the type of music she’s been wanting to create.

‘The vibe is just kind of just like … when you haven’t dropped your own art in two years, you hear a lot of comments like, “She fell off” or “What’s she doing?” “When’s she dropping music?” And it’s just like… I didn’t fall off,” Paige said. “I just had to get myself ready for what God had prepared for me. I feel as if people don’t allow artists to take the time out to get to know themselves, to get to know the people around them, or to understand what they actually want to do and what kind of sound they want to make.”

J. Cole Shoots Down Rumors That He’s Contemplating Retirement After ‘The Fall Off’

Ever since J. Cole closed his 2018 album KOD with a song title “1985 (Intro To The Fall Off),” fans have looked forward to the album of that title with both anticipation and apprehension. For one thing, lyrics, interviews, and social media posts he’s made since then have all seemed to imply plans to retire from rap once the album drops. However, in a new cover story in Slam magazine, of all places, Cole denies that he has any such plans, explaining that while he’s at peace with never making another album, he has too much love for the game to simply declare he’s done.

“I’m super comfortable with the potential of being done with this sh*t,” he tells Slam. “But I’m never going to say, ‘Oh, this is my last album.’… Because I never know how I’m going to feel two years, three years, four years down the line, 10 years down the line, but please believe, I’m doing all this work for a reason. I’m doing all this work to be at peace with, ‘If I never did another album, I’m cool.’”

If it seems a little out-of-place for a rapper to be doing cover stories for a basketball magazine, Cole made sure to legitimize that as well; yesterday, it was announced that he’d signed a contract to play in the newly created Basketball Africa League as part of Rwanda’s Patriots team ahead of the release of his next album, The Off-Season, which is decidedly not the same as The Fall Off.
