Summer Walker Reveals She Cried Listening to J. Cole’s Feature on Her ‘Clear 2: Soft Life’ EP

Summer Walker Returns with New 'CLEAR 2: Soft Life' EP

J. Cole dropped his latest verse on Summer Walker’s Clear 2: Soft Life EP. If you haven’t heard it, go do that, as it is one of the best verses of the year.

Walker was a guest on Yung Miami’s Caresha Please, and she spoke about “Audio Hug” and how it made her feel, revealing she was pregnant and cried at the result.

“I had asked him to do a song, he really didn’t get time to do it,” Walker revealed. “He wanted to meet and I was so fucking pregnant that I was just like, ‘oh my God, I can’t.’ I don’t know if you seen them damn pictures, I was like 200 pounds. My ankles were huge. It was crazy.

“So we didn’t meet. He did end up sending me something called ‘Audio Hug.’ It’s so sweet. I cried when I heard it. He was just being hella sweet and just saying that he sees all the shit that I went through and if I ever need to call him for anything. It was just cool.”

J. Cole delivered his second feature verse in back-to-back weeks. Coming off his stellar performance on Lil Durk’s “All My Life,” J. Cole delivered Summer Walker an “audio hug” on her CLEAR 2: Soft Life EP.

The song is officially titled “To Summer, From Cole,” and through his verse, he shares his admiration for Walker and all her work as a mother, his own parenting, and more. One piece of the verse that stands out to fans is he once again mentions his The Fall Off album.

“I find it amazing, the way that you juggle your kids, the biz, the fame, the bitches that’s hatin’
They sit around waiting for you to fall off like the album I’m making”

– J. Cole

In February, J. Cole‘s manager, Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad, teased the project on Twitter.

Ib tweeted the album’s title in response to a tweet asking about which J. Cole album fans would love to hear performed front to back. The tweet prompted fans to believe the album is coming.

J. Cole’s Manager Teases ‘The Fall Off’ Album on Twitter as Fans Await More Info

J. Cole Drops "Procrastination (Broke)" Loosie Using Fan-Created Beat He Found on YouTube

J. Cole’s The Fall Off is the next album that fans are waiting on from the Dreamville leader. His manager, Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad, teased the project on Twitter.

Ib tweeted the album’s title in response to a tweet asking about which J. Cole album fans would love to hear performed front ot back. The tweet prompted fans to believe the album is coming.

Last month, while browsing YouTube looking for inspiration in the studio, Cole found it in a producer who created a “J. Cole Type Beat” and simply uploaded it to YouTube. Cole would rap over the beat, creating “Procrastination (Broke)” and allowing the rising producer to release it on his YouTube page.

The producer goes by the name Bvtman as his accounts tates he is from Brooklyn, New York. The cover art for the single features the text message that J. Cole shared with Bvtman.

“This song should live on your channel and serve as a thank you to you and every producer out there cooking up and sharing their work with the world,” Cole said in the text. “It’s a million artists out there right now just like me, hungry and searching every day for something to spark a word, a melody, a hook, a verse, a punchline, a way to vent, or a way to CUT THROUGH.”

Bvtman stated Ibrahim “IB” Hamad text him about the beat, surprising him on a drive with his shorty. You can see the full story below and also hear the single.

J. Cole’s “Procrastination (Broke)” Producer Originally Made Beat With André 3000 In Mind

Bvtman, the producer who contributed the beat for J. Cole’s latest single, “Procrastination (Broke),” says he made it with André 3000 in mind. The Brooklyn artist discussed the making of the beat with HipHopDX for a new interview.

“Actually, I had Andre 3k in mind,” Bvtman remarked.

As for the moment he first connected with Cole, Bvtman recalled being in the car with his partner.

“I’m on the highway with my girl and his mgr DMs me talking about, ‘We need to connect. Cole did something for you,’” Bvtman said. “And I’m like nah, this ain’t real.”

He continued: “He said, ‘Yo, Cole needed inspiration one day and he found one of your beats so he did a verse that he really wants to put out.’ I’m like, ‘Oh word?’ I’m still not believing it. And he hits me back up and he said, ‘Yo, he did the verse on your beat. I’m about to send it to you.’ And then he shows me the text and I’m like oh nah, this real.”

From there, Bvtman recalled the moment he got to hear the final draft of the song. He says that he and his girl listened together for the first time.

“I was in my kitchen and my girl is right there and I’m like, ‘Yo, hold up — you gotta listen to this with me!’” the producer explained. “So I played it. I played it on my speakers and I’m blasting it and I’m like, ‘Yo hold on son, hold on. This is crazy.’ So I just start screaming! I started screaming, running around yelling.”

J. Cole’s New Song Is The Gift Of A Lifetime For One Lucky Producer And A Tribute To Hustling Artists

J. Cole is playing with fans’ emotions. The Dreamville rapper wiped his Instagram earlier this month, which is usually the telltale sign that an artist is preparing to drop an album and roll out a new era. Cole fans got new Cole music tonight, January 18, but in an unexpected way that will surely just make the ambiguous wait for his next album all the more painful.

Up-and-coming producer Bvtman uploaded “Procrastination (Broke)” to his YouTube page. The three-minute track finds Cole in his bag over a Bvtman beat that he had stumbled upon, as explained in a screenshot of a message presumably written by Cole to Bvtman:

“This song should live on your channel and serve as a thank you to you and every producer out there cooking up and sharing their work with the world. It’s a million artists out there right now just like me, hungry and searching every day for something to spark a word, a melody, a hook, a verse, a punchline, a way to vent, or a way to CUT THROUGH.

On a day when I couldn’t find much motivation, I was looking for anything to inspire me. Out of curiosity, I typed in ‘J. Cole type beat’ into YouTube. Yours was the first I saw. I pressed play, focused, and wrote this.

This is some sh*t that would normally stay in the vault, but I don’t want to hold onto the music like that no more. This is for you and whoever else need to hear it. God bless bro and keep doing what you do!”

Cole’s bars reflect that mindset.

“I write these words aimlessly / But not without hope / That somehow I’ll stumble on somethin’ that’s dope / A clever lil line, a thought to provoke myself,” he raps atop a groovy, infectious beat. Cole expresses dissatisfaction with his habit of losing songs “in the endless folders of the hard drive,” wishing he “was more fearless” and put more music out without considering the reception.

Fans will likely specifically key in on Cole admitting that his earned status and wealth have impacted his artistic urgency: “I still relate to that procrastination for tasks / ‘Cause I need to finish album / But hell, how many more times can I send this wooden pail down in that well / And pull it back up with the hope that it’s filled / Plus, it don’t help that I’m rich now / So that means that I don’t gotta deal.”
