Drew Barrymore has finally backed down on her decision to resume her talk show amid the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike. She confirmed the decision in a post on Instagram, Sunday, following days of going back and forth with fans online.
“I have listened to everyone, and I am making the decision to pause the show’s premiere until the strike is over,” Barrymore wrote on Instagram. “I have no words to express my deepest apologies to anyone I have hurt and, of course, to our incredible team who works on the show and has made it what it is today. We really tried to find our way forward. And I truly hope for a resolution for the entire industry very soon.”

Drew Barrymore Back Down On Bringing Back Talk Show
The move comes after numerous attempts to move forward with the show. Barrymore most recently posted an emotional apology video online, which she later deleted amid even further backlash. “I certainly couldn’t have expected this kind of attention,” she said in the video. “We aren’t gonna break rules, and we will be in compliance. I wanted to do this because as I said, this is bigger than me, and there are other people’s jobs on the line.” Numerous voices in Hollywood spoke out against her as a result including Bradley Whitford, David Krumholtz, Alyssa Milano, and many other actors.
Drew Barrymore says that her talk show will be returning for a new season amid the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild of America strikes. She explained the decision in a statement on Instagram, Sunday, claiming to be in accordance with strike regulations. However, a WGA representative told The Hollywood Reporter they plan the picket outside the studios this week.
“I made a choice to walk away from the MTV, film and television awards because I was the host and it had a direct conflict with what the strike was dealing with which was studios, streamers, film, and television,” Barrymore began. “It was also in the first week of the strike and so I did what I thought was the appropriate thing at the time to stand in solidarity with the writers. And to be clear, our talk show actually wrapped on April 20th so we never had to shut down the show. However, I am also making the choice to come back for the first time in this strike for our show, that may have my name on it but this is bigger than just me.”

She continued: “I own this choice. We are in compliance with not discussing or promoting film and television that is struck of any kind. We launched live in a global pandemic. Our show was built for sensitive times and has only functioned through what the real world is going through in real time. I want to be there to provide what writers do so well, which is a way to bring us together or help us make sense of the human experience. I hope for a resolve for everyone as soon as possible. We have navigated difficult times since we first came on air. And so I take a step forward to start season 4 once again with an astute humility.”
Despite her explanation, many fans flooded her comments section to criticize the decision. “Super disappointing. You had WGA writers on staff all 3 seasons and are now doing the show without them. Not the right move,” one user wrote. Cam’ron Performing At The Apollo

He further said from the set of his sports show, It Is What It Is: “Imma tell ’em the real advice they need to hear and stop tryna act like, ‘Well, we got my friend in the crowd, he’s a specialist. Hey, what do you think?’ Nah n***a, stop cheatin’ on your bitch, n***a! You be talkin’ bout, your girl crazy and all this crazy shit, but you be coming home at 5, 6, 7, 8 o’clock in the morning every morning.”
As for Cam’ron’s aforementioned sports talk show, he launched It Is What It Is earlier this year. On the show, he discusses all things sports, but has made headlines in particular for calling out Ben Simmons, discussing Ja Morant’s recent suspension, and more. According to Cam, the show is off to a terrific start. He recently revealed that several investors have inquired about purchasing the series. “I appreciate the interest and everything else,” he said in a video on social media. “This is fully funded by me. I ain’t gonna get no help, I ain’t got no partners. I ain’t got no bank that came and did all this shit.” He isn’t the only Dipset member interested in television.
