Swizz Beatz Isn’t Fazed By Alicia Keys & Usher’s Embrace During The Super Bowl Halftime Show Despite The Memes

Usher’s incredible Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show performance gave viewers 25+ years worth of hits crammed into the 15-minute set. It also delivered a banger of a new meme for fans online who couldn’t help but swoon at a tender moment he shared with guest artist Alicia Keys. Fittingly, she had joined him onstage to perform their 2004 hit “My Boo” which led to a tender embrace.

Naturally, their chemistry sent fans into a tizzy, resulting in a number of jokes at the expense of the stars’ spouses, Swizz Beats and Jennifer Goicoechea — especially Swizz. Check out some samples below.

Swizz, however, is holding it together — or, at least, trying to make it look that way. In an Instagram post with shots from the performance, the producer wrote, “Y’all talking about the wrong damn thing!!! y’all don’t see that amazing dress covering the entire stadium? Tonight’s performance was nothing but amazing with 2 amazing giants. Congrats @usher and my love @aliciakeys that song is a classic. We don’t do negative vibes on this side we make history.”

And, look, we get why the smoldering moment would get fans’ attention. After all, Usher did once sing, “Don’t leave your girl ’round me, true playa for real.” Swizz is probably safe. Probably.

To celebrate the launch of this collection, KITH is proud to announce the release of its first single, ‘Last Stop,’ featuring longtime friends of the brand, Cam’ron and Swizz Beatz. Swizz Beatz (Kasseem Dean) and Alicia Keys will be displaying their rare art collection as a special exhibit at NYC’s Brooklyn Museum.

“Been holding this incredible news close to the chest,” the two wrote in a joint caption. “Now, it’s our pleasure to officially announce GIANTS: Art from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys opening on February 10 @brooklynmuseum! Tickets to #GiantsBkM available now!!!!!! A MUST SEE SHOW. Link in bio… Let’s get 2024 started!! A BIG special thank you to all the GIANTS in the show!!! @TheDeanCollection.”

The couple have continued to build a presence in the art world. Swizz Beatz, according to Complex, has served on the museum’s board since 2015.

“There is great brand recognition with the Deans,” Kimberli Gant, a contemporary art curator who helped on the exhibit, told The New York Times. “People love Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys, but they don’t know them as collectors.” Gant had previously assisted the Spike Lee show at the Brooklyn Museum.

In total, there is supposed to be over 100 artworks in the collection. Dean first started collecting art as a teenager in the ’90s and has since estimated he has thousands of pieces. “The reason why we doubled down on African American art is because people weren’t collecting it,” Dean told the publication.

The exhibit will open on February 10, and more information can be found here.

On this date in 1999, rap phenomenon DMX released his third studio effort entitled …And Then There Was X on the Def Jam/Ruff Ryders imprint. With production from the likes of Harlem trendsetter Dame Grease, Swizz Beatz, and of course the Ruff Ryders’ generals Dee and Waah, this timeless classic went five-time platinum within a year and received a Grammy nod for Best Rap Album in 2001. It has been X’s best-selling album to date.

The sophomore single, which eventually catapulted to the album’s lead single, “Party Up (Up In Here), received the most acclaim, peaking at #27 on Billboard Hot 100, and was featured in several silver screen classics such as How High, Gone In 60 Seconds and Ghostbusters. The third, R&B-driven track, “What These Bitches Want?” featuring Sisqo, was one of the biggest hits in DMX’s career, which was a true-to-life confession of the women in his life.

Shout out to X, Dee, Waah, Swizz, Dame Grease, and the rest of Ruff Ryders squad who came together to bring us this piece of Hip Hop history!

Today in Hip-Hop History: Ludacris Dropped His Sophomore Album ‘Word Of Mouf’ 22 Years Ago

On this day in 2001, Ludacris released his second full-length album, Word of Mouf. This LP was ridiculously successful, debuting at #3 on the Billboard 200 chart and selling 281,000 copies in the first week. It also received critical acclaim, being nominated for a Grammy for Best Hip Hop album (he lost to The Eminem Show). The album today is Ludacris’ top-selling album and is certified triple platinum-selling 3,674,000 copies in the United States.

His debut album, Back for the First Time, peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200 and served as a launching pad for the new sound that was refined on his Word of Mouth album. Containing hits like “Roll Out”, “Area Codes”, and “Move B****”, it is easy to see why Word Of Mouf got the attention it did. The production on this project, coming from the likes of Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, and Jazzy Pha helped to set the tone of the early 2000s rap music.

Word Of Mouf as a whole embodied a lot of what southern rap was in the 2000s. There were club hits like “Move B****”, that could appropriately get any function jumping and there were introspective, soulful story-rich tracks such as “Growing Pains”. The spectrum of styles that this album provided suited a plethora of listeners. After this project, Ludacris finally reached a #1 album with Chicken and Beer and continued to grow into a household name in Hip Hop. Even today, Ludacris is a highly respected figure in rap and can still be heard every now and again on someone’s radio single as a strong feature. Take some time today to reminisce and listen to this project that helped shape a legend.

EXCLUSIVE: Swizz Beatz Names Marley Marl As His #1 GOAT Producer

SWIZZ BEATZ

Swizz Beatz has his own show on Hulu? Sign us up!

Aptly titled Drive with Swizz Beatz, this new series sees the legendary producer alongside his son, Nasir Dean (aka Note Marcato), as they travel worldwide and explore the difference in car cultures. And while music may be a #1 passion for both, it appears cars come in as a closed second.

The Source had the opportunity to chat with Swizz Beatz and Note Marcato at the red carpet premiere and screening of DRIVE WITH SWIZZ BEATZ in Los Angeles. The special evening took place at the Petersen Automotive Museum.

What is your favorite car of all time?

Swizz Beatz: Damn, all time? I don’t think about all time, but I’ll say the LaFerrari is up there.

Note Marcato: I’m not gonna lie, I really liked the new SP3. It’s crazy.

How was it drifting through the mountains of Tokyo?

Swizz Beatz: I still feel like I got a helmet on. It was out of body experience.

Note Marcato: For sure, and it was on a spiritual level. These people were masters of their craft. You don’t have that type of feeling from anything else.

Did you see Meek Mill called you the GOAT producer on Complex?

Swizz Beatz: Oh man, I didn’t see that.

Who is the GOAT producer for you?

Swizz Beatz: For me, it’s Marley Mall.

Note Marcato: For me, it’s 1000% My father. Because when he was explaining to me how he actually made them, I believe was last New Year’s or Christmas. It blew me away because it’s unorthodox. I’m not even saying that because he’s my father, I’m saying that because he’s amazing.

Swizz Beatz Recalls The Making Of “Party Up” With DMX: “It’s The Biggest Song We Ever Made”

When you think of the cream of the crop when it comes to hip-hop producers, who do you think of? Metro Boomin, The Alchemist, Scott Storch, Dr. Dre? There are plenty that belong in the hierarchy. One of those names that must be in the thick of it is Swizz Beatz. The Bronx, New York mainstay has given us countless classics by bringing his own flare. He has worked with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Meek Mill, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Drake, and other icons in the genre. With all of his experience, he knows how to bring the best out of others, including DMX.

HipHopDX reported that Swizz and up-and-coming Afrobeat artist, Rema, had a chat hosted by Rolling Stone. The Musicians on Musicians series has been producing some interesting content with older and newer generation artists. For example, Snoop Dogg and Latto have been a part of this too. Swizz spoke with Rema on the creation of one of the biggest party rap songs of all time, “Party Up” by DMX.

Rema And Swizz Beatz Have A One-On-One Conversation

Swizz mentioned how reading the room and the vibe of the artist as soon as they step into the booth is critical in making a hit. However, things were a little different with DMX. If you have heard the song, you know how rowdy the beat is. Swizz revealed what was unique about this song. “It worked for DMX one time with “Party Up.” But if you listen to [it], he does everything against the track. Like, you could tell he didn’t want to do the song. But I forced him because we was on a deadline.” Another reason for the track’s success was due to DMX wanting to prove the doubters wrong. This was from a GQ interview back in 2019. “I was the only artist in history that had their first two albums debut at No. 1, and have two platinum albums in one year! So I’m like, ‘I gotta do it again!’ Aight, like, muthaf****s think it’s a joke?! Aight, Ima show you somethin’!”

What are your initial thoughts on Swizz Beatz revealing how he made the beat for “Party Up” with DMX? Do you think Swizz is the best producer of all time? Is this the greatest beat he had ever made? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest breaking news around Swizz Beatz and DMX, as well as everything else going on around the music world.
