Stephen A. Smith Claims “New Media” Actively Roots For The Failure Of Player-Led Media

Stephen A. Smith made bombshell claims while appearing on Paul George’s podcast. “They don’t want y’all to succeed…when I see brothers out there diversifying their portfolio, and maximizing the opportunities that would potentially be available to them, not only am I rooting for y’all, I have an obligation to help you, if you ask…I want you to succeed, I think there’s room for everybody believe it or not,” Smith said. “They” refers to what Smith refers to as “new media”, though he chooses not to give any examples of what he would class as “new media”. Furthermore, Smith doesn’t give any examples of “new media” actively rooting for the failure of player-driven media ventures.

Pro athlete podcasts have become all the rage in recent years. Obviously, there is George’s Podcast P. Meanwhile, the Kelce brothers over in the NFL have their podcast. If you reach a certain level of fame and brandability, it’s more than likely that you or your team will push you towards starting a podcast. After all, sponsors will be easy to source, you have a much more familial relationship with potential guests. Athletes doing podcasts is something of a win-win for all involved.

Stephen A. Smith Bashes New Media

Whereas he’s been bashing “new media”, Smith has been supportive of his ESPN colleagues in recent days. In another podcast appearance, Smith was asked about Malika Andrews’ decision to discuss Brandon Miller’s link to an Alabama murder investigation at the 2023 NBA Draft. Andrews briefly asked whether Miller’s connection to the case would have any impact on how teams scouted him. At the time, this led to wave of backlash online. Many people accused Andrews of during sink Miller’s career with unrelated lines of conversation.

“She’s getting crucified during the Draft because… Brandon Miller…bringing up somebody’s past. She had an obligation to ask those questions. She did her job. If she doesn’t do her job, she’s off the air,” Smith said in response to the question. Meanwhile, during his Podcast P appearance, Smith also discussed the beef he had with the Irving family about comments he made about Kyrie and his father.

Stephen A. Smith Defends Malika Andrews Over Brandon Miller Draft Coverage

While it had mostly died down by the time of the draft, Brandon Miller’s one-and-done college career was marred by controversy. The Alabama freshman was at least tangentially involved with the shooting of a young woman in Tuscaloosa earlier this year. While the extent of his involvement was debated, he was considered a material witness. Furthermore, he had allegedly brought the killer’s gun to him when asked. Controversially, Miller missed almost no time as head coach Nate Oats firmly stood behind his star player.

Jump forward to the draft and ESPN‘s Malika Andrews got a lot of heat for bringing up Miller’s link to the case on draft night. Andrews didn’t say anything especially heinous. Namely, she asked how his link to the case, which remains open, could affect how teams view the player. “How does this factor in, if at all, into how teams are evaluating him?” Andrews asked on the network’s broadcast. Now one of her ESPN colleagues has stepped up to defend (yes, two months after the draft).

If she doesn’t do her job, she’s off the air.” Stephen A. Smith said in a recent podcast appearance. Smith is totally right. As much as you might want journalists to “stick to sports”, you aren’t doing your job as a reporter if you aren’t addressing the whole situation. This isn’t something that happened five, ten years ago. This is an open murder investigation into something that happened this year. Additionally, it doesn’t matter how tangential Miller’s link is to the case – he is linked to the case and that’s what matters.

It’s very weird how quick sports fans will forgive and forget. People on social media calling Andrews a bitch and a roach, saying that she’s ruining “Miller’s special night”. She was literally doing her job. “How does this factor in, if at all, into how teams are evaluating him?” is a great way to ask this question. Why? Because it includes a clause to allow someone to literally respond, “I think there will be minimal impact on his evaluation.” Furthermore, Miller still went #2 overall in the draft. Clearly, this was a non-issue for teams. It just seems that people are mad that Andrews dared remind us of the very real external issues to this fake sports world.

Stephen A. Smith Reveals Kyrie Irving Confronted Him Over Issues With His Father

Stephen A. Smith has had his fair share of criticism for Kyrie Irving. Over the past few years, Smith has been particularly hard on Kyrie. Although, most of the criticisms are actually quite fair. Overall, Smith just wants to watch the man play basketball. Unfortunately, there are just so many antics that Irving gets himself wrapped into that make it hard for him to actually get on the court. That said, he was good with the Dallas Mavericks, and Mark Cuban is hoping he remains available.

As for Smith and Kyrie, the former got to talk about their relationship on Podcast P with Paul George. During the interview, Smith actually made some huge revelations about Kyrie and the behind-the-scenes happenings that took place. Essentially, Stephen A. found himself at odds with Kyrie’s father. The elder Irving was texting Smith in a way that the latter deemed disrespectful. Things subsequently escalated on the air with Smith increasing his criticisms of Kyrie.

However, during the NBA Playoffs, Kyrie appeared at a Lakers game that Stephen A. was also attending. Kyrie confronted Smith and noted that the comments Smith was making were no longer about him. The First Take host had an epiphany and realized just how wrong he was about the whole situation. This prompted Smith to resolve his issues with Irving’s father. Moreover, it made him reflect on how it was the son who had to tell two older men to grow up. Needless to say, it was a very humbling experience, all around.

Smith’s interview with Paul George was illuminating for numerous reasons. However, it was his humility that a lot of people took note of. It is clear that Smith lets his on-air persona get the best of him sometimes, and this was definitely an example of that. Hopefully, he learns from the situation and is able to move on peacefully. You’ve got people looking at me and he’s not a fit I’m like shut the hell up, DeMarcus Cousins right now would be a Top 5 big man in basketball, period.” While calling him top five might be a bit too much, this is still a great sentiment. At the end of the day, you can’t say Cousins isn’t better than some of the people on NBA rosters right now.

Needless to say, he was feeling pretty defensive, although he did make some good points.

Smith, who averaged 1.5 points per game as a combo guard at Winston-Salem and has played exactly 0 games of high-level basketball since graduating college in 1991 is ready to take your child’s game to the next level. But what does your $3000 get you? Well, according to IMG’s website. “IMG Academy is getting loud and providing a once-in-a-lifetime camp opportunity for young athletes with its Stephen A. Smith Basketball Camp at IMG Academy taking place Aug. 6-12. As part of the camp package, Smith will participate in several engaging opportunities with camp participants, including sharing an inspiring message to the young athletes and hosting a Q&A-format discussion. Explaining Stephen A.’s Basketball Camp

Based on the description, it sounds like the $3000 price tag is mostly for IMG to cover Smith’s speaking engagement fee. Aside from a few structured speaking events provided by Smith, along with some photography moments, it’s likely that the rest of the event is just a regular basketball camp. Of course, Smith makes no mention of the price tag in his tweet promoting the event. Instead, Smith chooses to focus on the 10 children that they are getting in for free from the local Boys and Girls Club.

Also, this camp has a massive age range of 10-18 and also offers both a boy’s and girl’s camp. However, nothing on the website changes aside from the images when you switch between the girl’s and boy’s camps. In short, you are paying $3000 for your kid to be able to tell their friends that they met Stephen A. Smith. Unless your child is allowed to humiliate Smith on the court, there are so many better ways to spend that kind of money.

Stephen A. Smith is back on the apology train, this time issuing a message to Kim Kardashian after he tweeted asking if she was a prostitute.

In promoting an episode of his podcast, Smith asked, “Is Kim Kardashian a ‘prostitute’?” Followed by, “Is Kris Jenner a ‘pimp.” The tweets were created to give a lead into the episode’s content, which examines Ray J speaking about the origins of their sex tape.

Responding to Philadelphia 76ers guard Patrick Beverley, who called him out, Stephen A stated it was a “clerical error.”

“That is being corrected right now as we speak,” Smith tweeted. “And for the record, I don’;t think of @KimKardshian that way nor would I ever speak of her or any woman that way, which I’ve stated. That’s for checking that issue.”

Hudgens is also very much a snacc, just an undeniably attractive human being. She is reportedly engaged to Colorado Rockies shortstop Cole Tucker. She previously dated Austin Butler (Dune, Elvis) for eight years. Regardless, on July 11, Daily Loud posted a poolside picture of Hudgens in a pink bikini. Twitter went wild over it. However, the picture really started to circulate when UFC champion Israel Adesanya quote-tweeted the photo with the addition “We all in this together” followed by a prayer hands emoji. So Vanessa Hudgens, you know – actress – you know, does good work. I’m a fan of her work. Some people are just a fan of hers. And when you see this photo of her, those of you who are a fan of hers and not just her work, it makes perfect sense, as you can see in that photo. But forget the photo. It’s the tweet that accentuated it in a beautiful way. Israel Adesayna, the defending middleweight champion of the world in the UFC, simply retweeted it and said, quote “We all in this together.” That was a beautiful quote. I got to give it to. First of all, HotNewHipHop has reached out to Smith because “I’m a fan of her work” is not something that can be left without a follow-up. However, let’s be real for a second. In a world that this reporter has referred to as a “puritanical hellscape” on multiple occasions in recent days, it’s great to see people being respectfully horny on main.
