South Carolina & LSU Bench-Clearing Brawl Leads To Several Ejections & An Arrest

A bench-clearing brawl during the South Carolina-LSU game on Sunday led to several ejections as well as an arrest. With two minutes left in the SEC Tournament championship, South Carolina’s MiLaysia Fulwiley stole the ball from LSU’s Flau’jae Johnson, who then fouled Fulwiley to prevent an easy layup.

After the play, Johnson threw an elbow at Ashlyn Watkins. Kamilla Cardoso quickly retaliated by shoving Johnson to the ground. From there, the benches emptied and a police officer jumped onto the court to chase down a fan, who was reportedly later revealed to have been Johnson’s brother.

LSU & South Carolina Go At It

Referees eventually ejected Cardoso for physical fighting and both benches for going on the court. Cardoso will miss the first round of the NCAA tournament for the ejection. South Carolina went on to win 79-72. Check out a clip of the fight below.

As Southern Indiana, the OVC conference champions, are still in their transitional period to D1, they are ineligible for NCAA postseason tournaments. Notre Dame also secured the ACC championship in a close win over NC State.

South Carolina had squandered a 13-point halftime lead and were staring down their first loss in almost a year when the Brazilian star hit her miraculous buzzer-beater. She was immediately mobbed by her teammates, disappearing under a pile of bodies. South Carolina followed up their win by capturing yet another SEC tournament title at the expense of LSU and Angel Reese. This was despite a bench-clearing brawl with just over two minutes left in the game.

Patriots To Trade Mac Jones

The New England Patriots continue to clean house as ESPN reports the team intends to trade embattled quarterback Mac Jones. Pending a physical, Jones will head to the Jaguars for a sixth-round pick. In Jacksonville, he will compete to be the primary backup for fellow 2021 first-round pick Trevor Lawrence. The trade, which cannot be finalized until the new NFL year starts on Wednesday, ends a tumultuous three years in Foxboro for Jones. Despite making waves late in his college career at Alabama, many experts were surprised to see the Patriots take him 15th overall in 2021.

Jones threw for nearly 4000 yards in his rookie year before drastically declining. He failed to surpass 3000 yards in his sophomore season and was benched for Bailey Zappe after 11 games of the 2023 season. While Jones’ development was undoubtedly affected by the departure of Josh McDaniels, he also suffered from the Alabama Curse. Teams continue to seemingly overvalue Crimson Tide QBs, often putting undue pressure on players at the NFL level. The Patriots are expected to take a quarterback with the third-overall pick in this year’s draft.

Saints Extend Tyrann Mathieu

Trade: Patriots are finalizing a deal to send QB Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars, sources tell ESPN. The trade cannot be processed until the new league year begins Wednesday and he passes a physical. The two sides were discussing a 6th-round pick, per sources.

Elsewhere, the New Orleans Saints have extended Tyrann Mathieu, giving Honey Badger two more years in the Big Easy. The contract, as mentioned, is for two years and totals $13M. In 2023, Mathieu had 75 tackles (50 solo) and four interceptions. This put him joint-fifth in tackles and joint-first in interceptions on a team that finished 9-8 on the season but missed out on the playoffs due to tiebreakers. The Saints are facing the daunting task of navigating an offseason that sees them nearly $69M over the salary cap despite the historic increase of $30.6M.

Mathieu enters his third season with the Saints. He began his career in 2013 as a third-round pick for the Cardinals. However, he left Arizona for Houston in 2018 before joining Kansas City a year later. He was a major contributor to the start of the Patrick Mahomes dynasty before leaving for New Orleans in 2022. Mathieu has 775 tackles and 33 interceptions for 501 yards and 4 touchdowns across his decade-plus in the league.

In a now-deleted tweet, Ryan Garcia accused social media star Bryce Hall of inappropriate conduct with minors. “Apologize for messing with underage kids,” Garcia wrote while calling out Hall by name. “You need to repent and stop hiding behind TikTok for clout,” Garcia added. Hall has been previously sued for his conduct at an LA restaurant. However, there have been no previous allegations linking him to conduct with minors. However, Garcia also appeared to have a moment of clarity after days of posting conspiracy theory-fuelled tweets. “I Ryan Garcia, will not be speaking or tweeting or writing anything other then My Fight “Boxing” and Sports. Cross-Country Ski Race Derailed By Drunken Brawl

A women’s cross-country ski race in Norway was derailed by drunken brawls among the spectators. The Oslo 50k, part of the FIS Cross Country World Cup, was taking place in and around Oslo’s famed Holmenkollen stadium. However, Norwegian outlets reported multiple fights breaking out among the spectators, with other fans vaulting the barriers and falling onto the course. 130 16-20-year-olds required medical assistance, according to the on-site Red Cross team.

Race winner Frida Karlsson said she didn’t notice the brawling but did hear loud booing as she reached the finish line. “It was certainly ungrateful. I just felt, ‘Can’t you just feel sorry for me, please?’ I wasn’t feeling so good towards the end,” she quipped. Karlsson is Swedish, a nation that has a longstanding rivalry with Norway. It’s Karlsson’s third win of the season, having won the 20k events in Obenhof and Canmore. Karlsson will close out her season with the 20k freestyle event in Falun on March 17. She is currently third in the overall standings.

Cross-Country Skier Suffers Bizarre, NSFW Injury During Race

Of course, it’s not the only weird thing to happen this season in cross-country skiing. During one of the first races of the season in Finland, Calle Halfvarsson suffered a unique injury. Speaking with Swedish newspaper Expressen, Halfvarsson explained that he realized that his penis had frozen towards the end of the race. “I have frozen the muscle. For real. Damn, I had to lie in there for ten minutes to warm it up,” he explained. However, even more bizarrely, it’s not the first time that Halfvarsson’s penis has frozen during this exact race. “It’s lucky that I’m going to have my second child because this is going to be difficult in the future if I’m going to continue like this,” Halfvarsson joked. As for the sensation of your penis freezing, Halfvarsson described it as the “worst thing you can imagine”.

However, the image quickly landed Brown in hot water. Not for its content, but because Brown seemingly stole the image and reposted it. The image was originally tweeted at Brown by an account called @FSUBrando in response to his original post about the moment. Brown then made a separate post using FSUBrando’s image without credit. People have since begun to question how many of Brown’s CTESPN posts were actually stolen from other users.

The image shows Brown, decked out in his Steelers uniform, kissing Swift in front of a crowd of cheering Asian fans. Furthermore, Brown tagged Swift in the photo, as well as his CTESPN brand. However, fans were quick to note that Brown was likely about to face a wave of hate from the dedicated Swiftie fandom.

However, it’s far from the first time that Brown has angered a popular figure’s fanbase. In a shot at Swift last year, the former wide receiver tweeted out a picture of Ariana Grande in his Steelers jersey alongside Mac Miller‘s mother presumably getting ready for a Steelers game. “I had baddies at the game before the announcements…….. Arianators,” Brown captioned the photo. However, the picture did not go over well with Mac’s fanbase. For many of Miller’s fans, the inclusion of his mother takes the post beyond the pale. “Nah you foul for this fam,” one fan wrote. Another added, “Don’t disrespect Mac”. Sam Kerr will eventually retire as one of the greatest soccer players of all time.
