Jalen Rose Pokes Fun At Drake Lawsuit During TNT Sports Segment

Drake is such a big artist that everything he does gets magnified. He’s been the biggest rapper in the world for a decade and a half. It’s mostly been smooth sailing, but 2024 has been a different story. The 6 God has received ridicule and pushback from seemingly every direction, whether it be from fans or other artists. This unfortunate pattern has carried on the week of Thanksgiving. Drake announced plans to file a lawsuit against Universal Music Group and Spotify for artificially inflating Kendrick Lamar’s streaming numbers. It’s been such a talking point that even Jalen Rose got in on the fun.

Jalen Rose filled in for Kenny Smith on Inside the NBA on Tuesday evening. Rose was flanked by Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal and Ernie Johnson, Jr. At one point during the broadcast, the song “tv off” from Kendrick Lamar’s new album, GNX, can be heard playing in the background. Jalen Rose took note of the song, and jokingly voiced concern that TNT could be in legal trouble if Drake is watching. “I don’t know if y’all should be playing that Kendrick,” he quipped. “Y’all gonna get a lawsuit up here.” Shaq, Chuck, and Ernie were taken aback by Jalen Rose’s comments, but they laughed nonetheless.

Jalen Rose Joked About Drake Suing Inside The NBA

“Lawsuits don’t scare us around here,” Ernie Johnson, Jr. jokingly remarked. This is not the first time that Inside the NBA has alluded to the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar battle during its broadcast. At the very peak of the battle, Lamar’s “Euphoria” was played during a return from commercial. Kenny Smith stepped in and joked that the producers were going to get them roped into the middle of the battle. “What are you all putting us in the middle of the rap beef, man? Come on, man,” he said, much to the amusement of his peers. “You got Kendrick playing, we right in the middle of the rap beef! We in the middle of the rap beef man, we gon’ play one side, we gotta play the other now.”

Drake filed a second lawsuit for defamation the same day the TNT broadcast made light of his issues with UMG. The rapper claimed that UMG conspired to boost Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” which has “falsely accusing him of being a sex offender.” He believes the label should have stepped in and stopped the release of the song, given that the claims in the song are false.

Dee Devlin Ruthlessly Insults Conor McGregor’s Sexual Assault Accuser

Conor McGregor was found liable of sexual assault on Friday. The MMA star lost the civil trail after he was accused of raping a woman named Nikita Hand in a hotel room. He’s been ordered to pay $250K in damages. McGregor has confirmed that he plans to appeal the result of the trial. Several brands have already terminated partnerships with the MMA fighter, however. McGregor’s fiancee, Dee Devlin, was livid over the result of the trial, and decided to target McGregor’s accuser as a result.

Devlin started off cordially via Instagram. She posted a photo of her and McGregor with their children and assured fans that they will remain vigilant together. “Me and my man created a beautiful life together [and] I love him.” Dee Devlin also claimed that she trusts and believes Conor McGregor’s side of things when it comes to Nikita Hand’s assault allegations. Fans of the MMA fighter flocked to the comments to praise Devlin for staying behind his side. It was Devlin’s Instagram Story, though, that turned up the heat with regards to her anger.

Dee Devlin Voiced Support For Fiance Conor McGregor

Dee Devlin went on a ruthless social media rant against Nikita Hand and the public shame Hand has caused her husband. She tore into Hand’s character, and her behavior in the days leading up to the alleged sexual assault. “Imagine a woman, with her own boyfriend and child,” Devlin wrote. “Sending texting provocative pictures of herself to another woman’s man with a family and child on the way.” Devlin called Hand out for repeatedly sending pictures to Conor McGregor. “What kind of woman are you?,” she asked.

It was Dee Devlin’s closing statement, though, that proved most withering. McGregor’s fiancee had already established a strong dislike for Hand, but she got particularly nasty by bring children into her tirade. Devlin claimed that Nikita Hand would serve as an example of how not to behave for her own kids moving forward. “My sons will be warned women like you exist in the world,” Devlin asserted. McGregor issued a statement of his own. He was more apologetic than critical, however. He thanked his fans, and singled Devlin and his children out for their continued support.

The ‘Inside The NBA’ Crew Joked About Getting Sued By Drake After Playing Kendrick Lamar At Halftime

shaq
TNT

Kendrick Lamar stunned everyone last week when he teased and then dropped his newest album, GNX. Two things happened very quickly: One, it began receiving widespread acclaim, and two, people started screaming “MUSTARD” as loud as they could immediately after they heard “TV Off” for the first time. Lamar screams it on the track as a way to shout out collaborator DJ Mustard, and because the internet just does this sometimes, it got turned into a meme.

Because it was a thing people were making jokes about, it seemed a foregone conclusion that it would pop up on Inside the NBA sooner rather than later. And during halftime of Tuesday night’s NBA Cup game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns, “TV Off” came over the speakers, which led to a very good riff from the fellas and special guest panelist Jalen Rose.

Shaq decided to scream “MUSTAAAAAARD” a few times and crack a joke or two, while Rose slid in a spectacular line that we assume Drake won’t love.

“I don’t know if y’all should be playing that Kendrick,” Rose told the desk. “You don’t wanna get a lawsuit up in here.”

“Lawsuits don’t scare us around here,” Ernie Johnson quickly responded.

Rose, of course, is referencing the multiple legal actions that Drake has threatened against Universal Music Group around the biggest song from his feud with Kendrick over the summer, “Not Like Us.” No lawsuits have been filed yet, but if this does turn into a full-blown legal fight between Drake and UMG, we are willing to be large sums of money that Inside is going to make a ton of jokes about it.

Nikola Jokic Was Rapping Along To ‘Not Like Us’ In Warmups While Russell Westbrook Danced On The Bench

Here’s the thing with Nikola Jokic: Despite being the best basketball player on the planet, he’s done a very good job of keeping his personal life and interests away from the court out of the public eye. All we really know about him is that the dude absolutely loves horses, to the point that he was pretty bummed when he learned that the Denver Nuggets’ championship parade in 2023 was going to keep him from getting back to his horses in Serbia as soon as possible.

Well as it turns out, we now know a thing that Nikola Jokic apparently likes: the song “Not Like Us.” While warming up for Monday’s game between the Nuggets and the New York Knicks, Jokic rapped along to the song while Russell Westbrook had the time of his life on the bench, which you can view here.

I would love to know Jokic’s complete thoughts on the feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, along with whether or not he knows all the words to “Euphoria,” “6:16 in LA,” and of course, “Meet the Grahams.” A lot of this is because, when we did this back in 2019, Jokic refused to answer because he claimed it was someone I’d have never heard of, so I am fascinated in learning more about his taste in music.

Kevin Durant Shows Love To Drake On Instagram Amid UMG Lawsuits

Kevin Durant shared a screenshot on Instagram of himself listening to Drake’s 2015 song, “30 for 30 Freestyle,” from his collaboration with Future, What a Time To Be Alive. The post comes after Drake filed multiple pre-action petitions against Universal Music Group on Monday, regarding Kendrick Lamar’s hit diss track, “Not Like Us.” He claims the company artificially boosted the popularity of the song, on which Lamar makes several unfounded allegations about the Toronto rapper.

On “30 for 30 Freestyle,” Drake raps about “higher-ups” joining forces against him. “When the higher-ups have all come together as a collective. With conspiracies to end my run and send me a message. 40, did you get the message? ‘Cause I just checked my phone and I didn’t get it. I mean, I’ll say hats off for a solid effort,” he raps to start the first verse.

Drake filed his pre-action petition in Manhattan court on Monday. In the filing, he alleged that UMG and Spotify worked together to artificially boost the popularity of Kendrick Lamar’s viral diss track, “Not Like Us.” “UMG did not rely on chance, or even ordinary business practices,” lawyers for Drake’s company wrote. “It instead launched a campaign to manipulate and saturate the streaming services and airwaves.” He also took legal action in Texas, further accusing UMG of defamation for not blocking the release of “Not Like Us” despite knowing the lyrical content.

Kevin Durant Backs Drake On Instagram

Shannon Sharpe & Chad Ochocinco Weigh In On Drake’s Stunning Lawsuit

It seems we are kicking round two of this Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef into gear. However, we would be lying if we said this is what we were expecting. If you are just tuning in, the Canadian hitmaker is suing Universal Music Group and Spotify for artificially spreading awareness for K. Dot’s “Not Like Us” and its accompanying music video. He alleges that UMG has been using an “illegal” scheme consisting of payola, bots, and more to do so. Furthermore, The Boy is accusing the former of violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. The “pre-action” petition was filed to a Manhattan court on Monday. Overall, this is turning out to be a bad look on Drake’s part, especially given the backlash that he’s receiving right now.

He’s been low-hanging fruit all year long already, and folks believe he should be letting this beef go. Charlamagne tha God, one of Drake’s staunchest critics, let him hear it a bit, saying, “Come on man. Because you lost a rap battle? Dot said Squabble Up Not Lawyer Up. 😂 I’m just here for the chaos. Let’s Discuss…..” Mustard, one of Drizzy’s newest foes, could only laugh about the matter, “Omg lmfaooooooooo.”

Shannon Sharpe Is In Disbelief Over Drake’s Lawsuit

But it’s not just the general public and the hip-hop community expressing these feelings. Sports figures are also weighing in on the matter, specifically, Shannon Sharpe and Chad Ochocinco. The latter was mostly just adding surface level commentary on the subject and asking questions. However, Shannon felt this was way below Drake’s pay grade. He listed off all of his achievements, particularly the fact that he’s the first artist to have 20 songs over one billion streams.

Additionally, the Night Cap host said he’s too big globally and worth too much to be filing a lawsuit over a rap beef. “Drake. He [Kendrick Lamar] got one off on you, it happens!” Overall, he seems to be just as lost and confused as most people are right now. As it stands, some aspects of the documents are already allegedly disproved, so it could be looking even more grim for Drake moving forward.

DeMar DeRozan Hints At Being “Tipped Off” About Kendrick Lamar Album Following Drake Beef

On Friday, Kendrick Lamar left fans and critics alike in shock after dropping an entire new album without warning. Evidently, however, not everybody was totally in the dark about GNX before it was released. During a conversation with reporters after the Sacramento Kings lost to the Los Angeles Clippers this weekend, DeMar DeRozan shared his take on the album and suggested that he might have known it was coming.

“Proud of him. Another masterpiece,” DeRozan said of Kendrick’s album. “As for my favorite song, probably ‘TV Off.’” He was later asked whether or not he had been “tipped off” that GNX would be dropping. While he didn’t exactly confirm this, he did joke about it being the case. “Maybe I knew,” he said, earning laughs from others in the locker room. DeRozan has been a vocal supporter of Kendrick for some time now, despite it seemingly getting in the way of his allegedly former friendship with Drake.

DeMar DeRozan Discusses Kendrick Lamar’s New Album GNX

For those who don’t recall, DeRozan appeared at Kendrick’s “Pop Out” show in Los Angeles earlier this year, and in his “Not Like Us” music video. In July, he told The Sacramento Bee that he was still on good terms with the Toronto rapper regardless. “Drake’s still my man, still my man, none of it changed,” he said in part. “It’s so easy to get overlooked and look at it for what it looks like, but at the end of the day it’s music, entertainment. Two of the biggest rappers in the world went at it from a competitive standpoint and they battled it out.”

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Drake feels the same way, as evidenced by his behavior at a game this month. “If you ever put a DeRozan banner up, I’ll go up there and pull it down myself,” Drake said. Drizzy was also spotted staring DeRozan down throughout the evening, and said it was “unfortunate” they were “playing this goof.”

Kendrick Lamar Dropping ‘GNX’ Could Be A Good Sign For The Warriors

Kendrick Lamar stunned everyone on Friday afternoon. There had been hopes for months that a new album was on the way following his high-profile feud with Drake, and it looked like we were going to get another sign that something big was on the horizon when he released the music video for “GNX.”

And then, Kendrick took things a step further by just releasing his sixth studio album, which is also titled “GNX.” Because it is an album that Kendrick Lamar released out of nowhere, people went from being stunned to praising the project. And it’s possible that no one ends up being happier about this than the Golden State Warriors.

Why, you may ask? Well, as it turns out, good things tend to happen to the Warriors — which entered Friday night’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans with an 11-3 record, good for first place in the Western Conference — when Kendrick puts out an album. Each of the last four times that has happened, the team has gone on to win an NBA championship, with To Pimp a Butterfly coming out in March 2015, Damn. getting released in April 2017, and Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers dropping in April 2022. There was also the soundtrack to Black Panther, which came out in February 2018 and featured songs that were either performed or curated by Kendrick.

As for his other two studio albums, Section.80 and good kid, m.A.A.d city, the former came out a few weeks after they drafted Klay Thompson, and the latter was released in Oct. 2012, one week before the start of the 2012-13 NBA season, which marked the first time that Golden State made it to the postseason with Steph Curry on the team. Now, the overwhelming likelihood is that this is a bunch of insane coincidences, but if the Warriors do end up winning a championship, we’re going to think something weird is going on … and Kendrick will probably be a little bummed, as he’s a well-documented fan of the Los Angeles Lakers, which are currently the 4-seed in the West and find themselves 1.5 games back of Golden State.

Conor McGregor Found Liable For 2018 Sexual Assault In Civil Trial

Conor McGregor has lost his civil rape case in Ireland after a jury found him liable for assault. The case had been going on for much of the month. Nikita Ni Lamhain, a woman from Ireland, claimed McGregor and another man had sex with her against her will after a Christmas party in 2018. Ni Lamhain, who is also known as Nikita Hand, alleged the UFC star picked her and her friend up following the holiday get-together and took them to a nearby hotel. She claimed while there, McGregor forced himself on her on a bed in a penthouse suite. She also stated that later, another man, James Lawrence, sexually assaulted her too.

McGregor claimed their encounter was entirely consensual. However, this decision confirms that the court did not believe his recounting of events. They awarded Ni Lamhain with $250,000 in damages. Their report also stated that James Lawrence did not assault her. The media approached for McGregor for comment outside of the courthouse, but he did not make any statements there.

Conor McGregor Found Liable For 2018 Sexual Assault

Conor McGregor took to X (formerly Twitter) to deliver a public condemnation of the verdict. He announced that he plans to appeal the court’s decision. “The judge’s instruction and the modest award given was for assault, not for aggravated or exemplary damages. I am disappointed that the jury did not hear all the evidence that the DPP reviewed. I am with my family now, focused on my future,” he said.

The embattled mixed martial arts star, who was once the biggest box office draw in the sport, has been in and out of legal troubles for much of the last ten years. He’s been in several driving incidents since 2017. At UFC 223, he attacked a bus used by rival Khabib Nurmagomedov, smashing a window and injuring other fighters inside in the process. The NYPD issued a warrant for his arrest, eventually charging him with three counts of assault, one count of criminal mischief, as well as menacing and reckless endangerment. That was brought down to one disorderly conduct charge. He served only five days of community service after a no contest plea. In 2023, he was accused of physically assaulting a woman on his yacht and sexually assaulting another after Game Four of the NBA Finals. And now, he is liable for this instance in 2018. As this is a new development, McGregor has not yet filed his appeal.

Jason Kelce Heckled By Crazed Fan Demanding An Autograph

Jason Kelce is once again in the news for a fan interaction. On Thursday evening, Kelce was in Los Angeles for an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The football legend left the El Capitan Theater and was met with a fan that was angry at Kelce for not signing autographs. The fan referred to him as “nobody special” and a “s**t bag.” Kelce explained that he doesn’t sign autographs for people who follow him around. In a de-escalation measure, Kelce did ultimately sign the fan’s gear, saying that he was not trying to be mean. The fan apologized as well.

This comes just a few weeks after a previous altercation Jason Kelce had, where a Penn State athlete shoved his phone in Kelce’s face and referred to his brother, NFL star Travis, as a “f*****t” for dating Taylor Swift. Kelce smacked the athlete’s phone out of his hands. He repeatedly asked him “who’s the f*****t” now?” in response to the athlete’s words. Kelce later apologized for his actions on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown, saying that he “fell down to a level he shouldn’t have.”

Jason Kelce Gets Heckled By Fan Demanding Autograph

Of course, the future Pro Football Hall of Famer’s interaction with a heckling fan is far from the first time an athlete has been approached for an autograph in that way. However, it is good for all parties that the situation did not escalate beyond some very pointed words.

Jason Kelce’s interview with Jimmy Kimmel aired last night. In the conversation with Kimmel, Kelce confirmed his own late-night talk show venture with ESPN would be going forward. ESPN issued a press release on Friday morning with additional details. They Call It Late Night With Jason Kelce premieres on January 3. It airs on five straight Fridays, through the NFL playoffs. The last episode airs on February 1, just over a week before Super Bowl 59. This new role comes in the first year of a multiyear contract with the famed sports network, and appears to be a strong showing of confidence in Kelce’s media presence going forward.
