Ex-Jaguars Employee Accused Of Stealing $22M From Team

A former employee of the Jacksonville Jaguars has been accused of stealing over $22M from the team. Amit Patel was charged with wire fraud and illegal monetary transactions. The charges state that Patel, who worked in the Jags’ finance department, manipulated the team’s virtual credit card system to fund “lavish personal purchases”. Purchases include a luxury condo, a Tesla, cryptocurrency, private jet charters, and luxury watches.

“We can confirm that in February 2023, the team terminated the employment of the individual named in the filing. Over the past several months we have cooperated fully with the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida during their investigation and thank them for their efforts in this case. As was made clear in the charges, this individual was a former manager of financial planning and analysis who took advantage of his trusted position to covertly and intentionally commit significant fraudulent financial activity at the team’s expense for personal benefit. This individual had no access to confidential football strategy, personnel, or other football information,” the team said in a statement.

Brown reportedly entered his plea on Wednesday while remanded in custody at a jail in Illinois. He will be due back in court later this month. Brown and his mother were reported missing in September, only for his mother’s body to be discovered beside a creek near their Illinois home. Brown remained missing for a few days until he began posting concerning videos from Mexico. He was eventually detained in Mexico and extradited to the United States.

However, he was later signed by the Patriots and would play nearly 100 games over the next seven seasons, although he would only ever start 15 games. He retired in 2016 following a brief stint with the Bills. Finishing his career with 144 tackles, Brown also played for the Colts and Jags. After establishing that he likes women with “curves” and said he needs a woman who has “more A and T than me”, Smith went completely off the rails.

The crux of his rant was that men want a “strong 7” in terms of their partner’s appearance. “10s” are “too much maintenance”, Smith argued. “9s” are also out for Smith because “she got enough people telling her she’s a 10”. The rant continues to get more and more bizarre, with Smith arguing that “too much independence” in a woman is a bad thing because it can reach a level where you (the man) start to feel dependent on your partner. After a certain point, like with many of Smith’s rants, it feels like he ran out of things to say. As a result, his point ends up being something along the lines of “get yourself a woman who is just a little insecure about her own appearance because that’s the best way to keep her around.”

Of course, this is just the latest bizarre rant to stem from The Stephen A. Smith Show‘s Q&A segment. In November, Smith went a similar rant about best songs to have sex to. Smith used that question to make a bizarre statement about disgraced rapper R. Kelly. “I don’t want to bring up R. Kelly, but I think it’s okay now because he’s in jail,” Smith said in a widely disseminated clip. Furthermore, the clip has widely been met with shock that Smith, a widely-respected pundit with a national TV spot, would say something so out-of-pocket unprovoked.

The viral moment was part of a larger three-minute answer that Smith gave. His answers included Spandau Ballet’s “True”, The Jackson 5’s “All I Do Is Think Of You”, and Luther Vandross’ “A House Is Not A Home”. In regards to Kelly, Smtih’s pick was “Dedicated” and after the viral clip, he reasoned that he wouldn’t have brought it up if Kelly was “still out there, getting away with stuff.” However, Smith does go on to name at least three R. Kelly songs as part of his answer. Furthermore, Smith argues that “we can’t argue that there’s quite a few” R. Kelly songs that would make an objective list in answer to the question.

Caitlin Clark Hits 3000 Career Points In Win Over Iowa State

However, she nearly doubled that mark as she helped the Hawkeyes avenge their 2021 road loss to Iowa State. Furthermore, Clark became the first player, regardless of gender, in Division I history to record 3000 points, 750 rebounds, and 750 assists.

With more than two-thirds of the season left, Clark is well on her way to set a new NCAA-era (1981-present) record. More details have emerged about the shooting that rocked the suburban campus of UNLV late Wednesday morning. The suspect has not been named. However, he is believed to be an academic who recently unsuccessfully applied for a position at the college. According to a source who spoke with the Associated Press, the suspect had most recently worked at East Carolina University. Per the official police timeline, the man opened fire inside the Lee Business School around 11:45am local time. He was later killed in a shootout with police detectives outside the building.

While casualties were not initially reported, police have now announced that three people have died as a result of their injuries. Furthermore, a fourth individual has been described as being in “critical but stable” condition. Despite the semester winding down, police said that numerous students were congregated outside due to the building’s proximity to the student union center at the time of the attack.

Shooting On UNLV Campus Leaves Suspect Dead, At Least 3 Hospitalizd

Police have responded to a mass shooting at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Law enforcement was alerted to an active shooter situation around 11:45am local time. Later, a police officer “engaged” the suspect, who has since been reported to have died. However, it is unclear how the suspect died. Furthermore, local law enforcement refused to say how many, if any, people had died in the shooting. “Right now, we know there are 3 victims, but unknown extent of the injuries. That number could change,” Sheriff Kevin McMahill said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

On X, formerly Twitter, the university said that the suspect had opened fire at the Lee Business School. Additionally, reports emerged that police were responding to reports of shots being fired at the nearby student union. Later, an FBI SWAT team was spotted on campus by an Associated Press reporter. The university has said that it remains the site of an “active investigation”. UNLV sits just three miles from the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.
