LeBron James Calls For Gun Control In Wake Of UNLV Shooting

LeBron James spoke at length about America’s continued inaction about gun control after three people were killed in a mass shooting on the campus of UNLV. “It just goes back to what I said before about guns in America. I think it’s such a longer conversation, but we keep dealing with the same story. This same conversation every single time it happens, and it just continues to happen. The ability to get a gun, the ability to do these things over and over and over, and there’s been no change is literally ridiculous. It makes no sense that we continue to lose innocent lives, on campuses, schools, at shopping markets and movie theaters and all type of stuff. It’s ridiculous. The fact that we haven’t changed anything — it’s actually been easier to be able to own a firearm. It’s stupid,” LeBron said.

LeBron’s comments came from a press conference held just three miles from the Lee Business School. LeBron and the Lakers were in Vegas ahead of the semifinals of the In-Season Tournament. In a separate statement, the NBA announced that they would hold a moment of silence for the victims before Thursday’s games. Across the country in Ohio, Dayton cancelled its Wednesday night game against UNLV due to the shooting.

UNLV Shooting: Latest Updates

More details have emerged about the shooting that rocked the suburban campus of UNLV late Wednesday morning. The suspect has not been named. However, he is believed to be an academic who recently unsuccessfully applied for a position at the college. According to a source who spoke with the Associated Press, the suspect had most recently worked at East Carolina University. Per the official police timeline, the man opened fire inside the Lee Business School around 11:45am local time. He was later killed in a shootout with police detectives outside the building.

While casualties were not initially reported, police have now announced that three people have died as a result of their injuries. Furthermore, a fourth individual has been described as being in “critical but stable” condition. Despite the semester winding down, police said that numerous students were congregated outside due to the building’s proximity to the student union center at the time of the attack.

Shooting On UNLV Campus Leaves Suspect Dead, At Least 3 Hospitalizd

Police have responded to a mass shooting at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Law enforcement was alerted to an active shooter situation around 11:45am local time. Later, a police officer “engaged” the suspect, who has since been reported to have died. However, it is unclear how the suspect died. Furthermore, local law enforcement refused to say how many, if any, people had died in the shooting. “Right now, we know there are 3 victims, but unknown extent of the injuries. That number could change,” Sheriff Kevin McMahill said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

On X, formerly Twitter, the university said that the suspect had opened fire at the Lee Business School. Additionally, reports emerged that police were responding to reports of shots being fired at the nearby student union. Later, an FBI SWAT team was spotted on campus by an Associated Press reporter. The university has said that it remains the site of an “active investigation”. UNLV sits just three miles from the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino. The Hotel was the site of one of America’s worst mass shootings when, in 2017, a lone gunman killed 60 people and wounded hundreds more.

The Journey Of Fredo Bang: A Look At His Life & Music

The new calendar year has delivered a wide range of headlines for Fredo Bang. Unfortunately, many of those aren’t exactly in the sphere of new Fredo Bang albums. At the end of 2022, the 27-year-old rapper announced the arrival of his child, Payton. It was later confirmed that Fredo shared the child with Annie and Sevyn Buffins. The two are a married lesbian couple who’ve gained traction over their respective social media presence. The couple has been coy regarding how the child was conceived. However, it’s been confirmed that Fredo (Fredrick Gives) is the biological father.

More recently, Fredo has found himself entwined with the developments surrounding YNW Melly’s case. A Broward County prosecutor has claimed that Fredo Bang picked up YNW Melly following the murder of YNW Juvy and YNW SakChaser. However, Melly’s attorney has repeatedly argued that neither the police nor the prosecution has been able to come up with a viable reason for Melly’s apparent killing of his two close friends. Either way, the mention of Fredo Bangs came as a shock to many in the hip-hop community. Melly and Fredo have collaborated on music in the past, namely on the electric “Brazy” off of one of Fredo’s 2022 albums, Two-Face Bang 2.

Fredo Bang Is A Driving Force In Louisiana Hip-Hop

Fredo Bang fell into the world of rap rather than actively pursuing it. As a teenager, his friends dragged him along to their makeshift studio in the south side of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. While he was very much influenced by hip-hop, there wasn’t an overarching goal to become an artist until Fredo began to realize that he had an innate talent for the craft. Music is in his blood, with Fredo being the cousin of fellow Baton Rouge icon Boosie. In his early days, he was looking to mirror the street grime of fellow Louisiana contemporaries such as Kevin Gates and Lil Wayne. Fredo even references meeting Lil Wayne at a concert venue as his standout moment as a hip-hop artist. These influences trickle into his catalog from Most Hated to 2022’s UNLV.

That isn’t to say that Fredo Bang wasn’t interested in the world of music as a whole. As a kid, he joined a band as their clarinet player. In high school, he transitioned to the French horn for concerts and marching bands. However, he was also surrounded by an environment mired in violence and crime that threatened to stunt his natural creative progression. As a result, Fredo Bang’s albums predominantly detail the street-ridden atmosphere that was around him.

Fredo Bang Blew Up Off Of Hit Single “Oouuh”

Fredo broke out with breakout hit “Oouuh,” which has been streamed over 50 million times on Spotify. While he had previously been known for his gangster rhythms, the song shocked fans by highlighting his ability to harmonize on an engaging chorus. He leveraged the hit into a deal with Def Jam Records, finding himself working with the likes of YNW Melly, Lil Baby, and Tee Grizzley. Additionally, videos for records like “Ouuuh,” “Top (Remix),” ft. Lil Durk and “Father” have each eclipsed 20 million views on YouTube.

He’s Been In And Out Of Prison

In 2016, Fredo Bang was charged with attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, and aggravated criminal damage to property in connection to a shooting he was involved in. The predicament landed him behind bars for two years, putting a pause on his growing hip-hop career. In fact, he came up with the viral hook for “Oouuh” while in jail. His track “Thuggin’,” released in February 2016, went viral based on the relevance of its music video. The start of the video shows a clip of Fredo being arrested for the shooting. The video caused a fair bit of pushback and controversy online, only aiding to his popularity.

By the time he was out of his prison, he was seemingly a different man. Fredo Bang went on a creative tirade, releasing five albums, such as In The Name Of Gee and Pain Made Me Numb within the space of three years. The murder of his close friend Gee Money also spurred his creative motivation. This devastating incident pushed him to create music in his memory. In addition, Fredo’s discography began to gain more attention during his extended time behind bars. Fredo Bang’s sound walks a tightrope between rage-filled violence and sentimental soul influences, which makes his sound unique in the hip-hop space. Last year, he released two projects, UNLV, containing the viral single “Free Thug,” and Two-Face Bang 2.

Pete Davidson Shoot Hoops At UNLV

Pete Davidson can currently be seen in his star-studded, semi-autobiographical comedy, Bupkis. Furthermore, while Davidson was supposed to make a return to SNL as a host in May, the WGA strike led to the cancellation of the episode. However, Davidson didn’t seem too bothered, voicing his support for the strike and bringing pizza to a picket in New York. Davidson’s next film release is expected to be Dumb Money, a film about the short squeeze of GameStop in January 2021. He also recently beefed with PETA.

Meanwhile, white boys playing basketball is once again a topic of debate following the release of Hulu’s White Men Can’t Jump remake. While the film was critically panned, it did thrust lanky white boys back into the hooping spotlight. Of course, Davidson was not in White Men Can’t Jump. Furthermore, the comedian’s most memorable link to basketball is an old SNL skit about the Cleveland Cavaliers. That is until a surprise Twitter post on June 7.

Pete Davidson Gets UNLV Hype Reel

Davidson’s basketball skills were revealed by the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV). The 28-second hype reel shows Davidson making lay-ups, jumpers, and a handful of full-court assists. Honestly, he’s not half-bad. Obviously, it’s edited footage from a casual scrimmage but he’s not exactly making a fool of himself out there. The 6″3 Davidson looks decently at home on the court. Last season, the Runnin’ Rebels went 18-12, finishing seventh in the Mountain West Conference. They reached the second round of the conference tournament before falling to Boise State. Furthermore, they were not invited to any postseason tournaments.

It’s unclear how the collaboration came about. Davidson is from New York and did not attend college. Meanwhile, his girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders was born in Michigan and graduated from Harvard. It’s quite possible that a brave social media manager heard Davidson would be in Vegas and decided to shoot their shot. However, Davidson’s apparent basketball abilities should earn him an invite for the next NBA All-Star celebrity game. Davidson has been spotted at numerous NBA games and seems like the perfect fit for the informal event.

Nike Dunk Low “Satin UNLV” Coming Soon

At this point, there is no denying just how amazing the Nike Dunk Low is. Overall, this is one of the greatest shoes ever created. It was made by Nike back in the 80s, and since then, it has had a nice reign of success. Although there have been times when the shoe was not all that popular, it has been able to survive. No matter what the trends call for, there will always be a place for shoes like this. The Dunk Low is a staple of the sneaker world, and a lot of consumers would tend to agree with that.

Furthermore, the Nike Dunk Low has always had a thing or two for the NCAA. Nike has continuously worked with its college partners to provide school-specific colorways for this shoe. This has been true ever since the 1980s. The shoe continues to get college make-ups, and fans could not be any happier about that. Subsequently, Nike has been looking to up the ante on its NCAA offerings. Consequently, the brand is now going in the satin direction for this new “UNLV” color scheme.
