Student Defaces Deion Sanders Mural At Jackson State University

‘Elevate or Terminate,’ Deion Sanders Is the University of Colorado’s New Head Coach

Deion Sanders came to Jackson State University 3 years ago with the goal of changing the trajectory of their football team for the better. Since he became head coach, he did just that, turning them into an undefeated team while at the same time shining a light on other HBCU football teams and athletics.

However, his recent departure to the University of Colorado has left many divided, with some siding with Coach Prime, and others disappointed at his decision to leave JSU, especially the students at Jackson State. A recent video caught a student defacing a mural of Coach Prime while an onlooker throws obscenities directed toward Sanders.

There is no new information regarding the defacing of the mural, or if the student has or will receive any punishment for it.

Many sports anchors have sided with Coach Prime’s decision to take the head coaching gig at the University of Colorado. Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe defended Coach Prime’s decision on a recent episode of Undisputed where he said he’s more excited for Deion than he is sad for Jackson State.

“I was more excited for him [Deion] than I was sad for Jackson State,” Sharpe said on a recent episode of Undisputed. “And I think Jackson State should be happy for him because he gave you a blueprint and showed you what you could be, what you could become,” Sharpe added. He went on to say that Deion leveraged his relationships to better the football team criticized people who are mad at Prime for his departure.

Todd Snyder Teams Up With the NBA For a New Collection

TSxNBAHeader 3000x

Todd Snyder honors his title as the king of collaboration as he broadens his reach into the basketball realm through a new partnership with the NBA. With a number of collaborations with adorned teams such as the Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and San Francisco Golden State Warriors, already under his belt, Snyder is doing things differently this time around.

The limited-edition partnership, titled the Todd Snyder x NBA Curtsied Collection, puts a spin on the teams’ original logos. These contemporary interpretations are seen across French terry sweatshirts and turtlenecks, cashmere sweaters and leather varsity jackets. Within the mix of key items, the varsity jacket is reworked in Melton wool with leather, raglan sleeves, a quilted satin lining and a leather tab at the cuffs. In addition, there is a convenient two-tone cashmere sweater with satin lettering on the chest and raglan sleeves.

In describing his intentions and inspirations around the collection, Snyder said, “I wanted to create some fan gear that was sophisticated — styles that you could wear to the game and around town. The Curtsied Collection is kind of a dream come true because growing up in Iowa, I played basketball every day. When I moved to New York during the ’80s, I fell in love with the Knicks and finally had a hometown pro team. One of my career highlights was winning a design contest when I worked at The Gap to design the jerseys for the Indiana Pacers. To see them play in something you designed…that was something else.”

Several reports have confirmed that Nike has severed all business partnerships with NBA star Kyrie Irving, just one month following his Nike contract’s “suspension,” which stemmed from a perceived anti-Semitic video reposted by the Nets star on social media.

With Irving offering no apology for posting the video, his suspended contract with Nike was paired with a suspension from the Brooklyn Nets. Nike also decided to shelf the release of its signature shoe, the Kyrie 8.

The sides have parted ways one month after Nike suspended its relationship with the Nets star. Sports reporter Shams Charania tweeted, “Kyrie Irving is no longer a Nike athlete, Nike spokesperson says. Irving has one of the most popular signature shoes in the NBA and is now a sneaker free agent.”

NBA Suspends Phoenix Suns Owner Robert Sarver from Organization Based on Violations of Workplace Standards

Owner of the NBA’s Phoenix Suns and WNBA’s Mercury, Robert Sarver announced he’s started the process to sell both franchises.

In a statement, Sarver said in “our unforgiving climate,” it’s clear that whatever good he could do in the future is outweighed by things he’s said in the past.

This comes after Sarver was suspended for one year and fined $10 million by the NBA after an independent investigation into the Suns’ and Mercury’s workplace.  The investigation found he used racist language and conducted unequal treatment of female employees as well as harsh treatment of employees that was related to bullying.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver said he “fully supports the decision” by Sarver to sell both teams. “This is the right next step for the organization and community,” Silver said.

Nia Long Speaks On Fiancée Ime Udoka Cheating Scandal

nia Nia Long Says Netflix Movie 'A Fatal Affair' Lacked Diversity: 'Maybe Three People on the Crew Were Black'

Earlier this week, a story broke that Boston Celtics head coach, Ime Udoka would face a possible suspension for a consensual, but “inappropriate” relationship with a woman in the Celtics organization. Word quickly spread across the news with many people, sports commentators, and social media voicing their opinions on the situation. However, pretty much everybody asked the same question: “Why would you cheat on Nia Long?”

Nia initially kept her silence on the situation, but earlier today she broke her silence in a statement to TMZ.

“The outpouring of love and support from family, friends and the community during this difficult time means so much to me,” Nia said. “I ask that my privacy be respected as I process the recent events. Above all, I am a mother and will continue to focus on my children.”

Sources close to the family told the news outlet that Nia and her 10 year old son had officially moved to Boston 2 weeks ago, when Udoka was fully aware his affair with the married front office staffer was going to blow up. In fact, Udoka knew as far back as July that the team knew of the affair, and was launching an investigation. Long apparently knew nothing of the affair until a few days before it made headlines.

Since news broke of the affair, Udoka has been suspended for the entire 2022-2023 basketball season and has become the butt of many jokes online, with people bashing him for cheating on Nia Long.

Floyd Mayweather Confirms Rematch With Connor McGregor Next Year

Conor McGregor Floyd Mayweather

Floyd Mayweather has confirmed that next year he will fight Connor McGregor in his first rematch with the MMA fighter since their 2017 fight.

Mayweather spoke to the The Daily Mail where he said that the fight would happen, but is unsure whether the fight will be an exhibition match or a professional boxing match.

“I want to go out there this weekend and have fun [against Mikuru Asakura]. Then I have another exhibition Dubai in November and me and Conor McGregor in 2023,” Mayweather told the publication.

When asked whether the match would be a professional fight or exhibition, Mayweather did not directly answer the question, but said that he choses to do exhibition fights because the fighters don’t hit as hard.

‘So, guys like Conor McGregor and guys that don’t really hit hard such as YouTubers or UFC guys, I don’t really mind colliding with those kinds of individuals but nothing where I am going to put myself in a position where I am going to harm myself or hurt myself.’

Regardless of whether its an exhibition or professional fight, it means a payday for both of the fighters. In their last bout, Mayweather earned a reported $275 million from the fight whereas McGregor earned $85 million.

LeBron Channels His Inner MJ And Kobe By Going Bald, The Internet Reacts

lebron bald

Earlier today, LeBron James shared a photo of his new haircut. The 37 year old basketball veteran seems to be taking inspiration from other basketball greats such as Michael Jordan and Kobe by going completely bald.

LeBron posted a picture of himself on his Instagram story, still in the barber chair with his cape on sporting the fully bald look. He added laughing emoji’s and the bald grandpa emoji.

LeBron’s hairline has a been a point of conversation on the internet for years. Every year, people would poke fun about how his hairline would recede and how he wore a headband to make his hair loss less obvious. The internet would even point out if LeBron seemed to get hair loss surgery if he came into a new season with a crisp hairline. Even some people on the internet thought that the GOAT was using a filter.

Shortly after the picture made its rounds on the internet, people seemed to congratulate LeBron for finally letting his hair go. “It’s about time my brother” one Twitter user wrote.

LeBron has not said anything about his recent transformation, but he surely will address it when a reporter asks him about it following the season opener.

You can check out some of the reactions below.
