News reports have confirmed that ex-Red Sox pitcher Ausitn Maddox was arrested in a anti-child predator sting operation in Jacksonville, Florida last month and now Maddox is facing several felony charges.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Department said that they arrested 27 men on Monday who believed that they were communicating with underage girls online, but they were actually speaking to detectives on their five-day “Operation Valiant Knights” bust.

Maddox, 33, was arrested on April 28 and charged with traveling to meet after using a computer to seduce/solicit/lure a child, solicitation of a child via computer to engage in sexual conduct, unlawful use of two-way communication device, and produce/promote performance which includes sexual performance by a child. Maddox’s bond was set at a little more than $300K.

Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters made a statement about the arrest, stating, “Austin Maddox, a former Red Sox MLB player, traveled with the intent of engaging in sexual activity with a 14-year-old child.”

Law enforcement video footage hows Maddox’s arrest, with him exiting a red pickup truck and walk into a home as he encounters several Jacksonville Sheriff’s deputies. The former Red Sox pitcher is due in court next week.

Maddox only pitched one season in MLB after being called up from the Florida Gators as a third round draft pick in 2017.

Floyd Mayweather Accused of Scamming Mexican Boxing Promoters

Floyd Mayweather Says He Won't Speak Bad on Diddy: 'Mistakes Happen'

Boxing icon Floyd Mayweather finds himself embroiled in controversy once again, this time over allegations of scamming boxing promoters in Mexico out of a staggering $1 million. The saga unfolds against the backdrop of Mayweather’s recent disappearance from Dubai and subsequent reappearance in Las Vegas, sparking a whirlwind of speculation and scrutiny.

Just weeks ago, Mayweather’s presence in Dubai made headlines amid claims that he was being held against his will over an unpaid debt. However, the boxer resurfaced in Las Vegas, raising questions about the details of the earlier reports.

Adding fuel to the fire, Mayweather announced an exhibition boxing match in Mexico scheduled for August 24, only to delete the post from Instagram shortly after. The timing of the post’s removal coincided with Mayweather’s return to Las Vegas, further muddying the waters surrounding his intentions.

Compounding the confusion, Mayweather’s Instagram account recently shared a post asserting that he was “stuck in Dubai,” contradicting earlier reports of his return to the United States. This abrupt shift in narrative came amidst allegations that Mayweather failed to attend a press conference in Mexico to promote the upcoming exhibition match.

According to reports by WBN, Mayweather’s absence from the press conference left organizers and journalists bewildered, with no explanation provided for his no-show. Furthermore, Mayweather’s original opponent, Victor Ortiz, was dropped from the main event, leading to speculation about the reasons behind the sudden change.

The CDMX Government, which had been actively involved in facilitating the event, expressed disappointment over the turn of events, casting a shadow over Mayweather’s reputation and the future of the exhibition match in Mexico.

Thoughts?

A report out of Virginia Beach, VA has confirmed that the Kempsville High School varsity baseball team has forfeited the remainder of their 2024 season due to an ongoing investigation into allegations of racism, hate speech and harassment.

A message from Kempsville High School principal Melissa George sent to parents, which was shared with local news affiliate WTKR News 3, reads the following,

“After our lengthy investigation after we received allegations of racism on the baseball team earlier in April, we have found that racism, hate speech, and harassment have been an ongoing issue for multiple years. Due to additional information we have through our investigation, at this time we are forfeiting (the May 2) game against PA (Princess Anne). Working with the Senior Executive Director of High Schools, Dr. Walter Brower, the Chief of Schools, Mr. Matt Delaney, and Coach Penn, we came to the decision that we can not in good faith play baseball knowing the number of players involved. We will continue to work with VBCPS officials and school level personnel to determine what the remainder of the season will look like. Please know that this is much broader than the initial allegations brought forth and stems across multiple years. Should you have questions or concerns, you can reach out to Dr. Brower… More information will be sent out once a decision has been made.

Thank you,
Melissa George”

The allegations come from a parent of one of the players, who is Black, says their child was called racials slurs on several occasions, including the n-word.. The parent of the player has posted about the incidents on Facebook and has even vowed to seek legal representation.

Other parents of Black players were asked about the allegations by WTKR, but they refused to comment on the matter.

This afternoon, VBCPS(Virginia Beach City Public Schools) shared an additional statement about the situation, confirming that hate speech, harassment, and racism were evident.

Kempsville High School administration and VBCPS Department of School Leadership conducted an investigation of the Kempsville High School varsity baseball team. Evidence of racism, hate speech and harassment were confirmed. Appropriate action was taken, including forfeiture of the remainder of the baseball season. Know that this type of behavior will not be tolerated in our school division. VBCPS values inclusive communities and works to ensure that our staff, students and community embrace our core values.

Nationals outfielder James Wood struggled in Double-A, striking out more than one-third of his total ABs, but has vastly improved since moving up to Triple-A t only 21 years old and moved up to #5 on the Top Prospects list.

Screenshot 2024 05 13 at 10.28.30 AM

Yesterday(May 12), Hip Hop living legend Busta Rhymes threw the ceremonial first pitch for the game between the New York Mets and the visiting Atlanta Braves at Citi Field in Queens. “The Dragon” seemed pretty confident during his warm up pitches before actually taking the mound and his above average pitch may have just been the charm as the Mets edged Atlanta in the 9th inning, winning the game 4-3.

The Mets managed to avoid a three-game sweep by Atlanta in their Mother’s Day win, due largely to a walk-off, two run homer from center fielder Brandon Nimmo in the bottom of the ninth inning to secure the win for New York. Nimmo, who left after four innings in Saturday’s 4-1 loss due to a tight right intercostal muscle, entered as a pinch runner for DJ Stewart in the seventh inning on Sunday.

The Mets have now won for just the seventh time in 19 games, while the Braves’ four-game winning streak has just ended.

Atlanta broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the eighth inning when Marcell Ozuna brought in his second RBI single of the night and the Mets went down in order in the bottom of the eighth before coming back in the ninth against reliever A.J. Minter (5-3). Jeff McNeil legged out a bunt single and went to second on a sacrifice bunt by Tomas Nido. Nimmo then hit a 3-2 pitch beyond the fence in right-center field for his second career walk-off homer for the W.

Most Hip Hop aficionados have heard the infamous stories about the legendary Quad Studiosin New York City’s Times Square, however, Oakland A’s outfielder Lawrence Butler may just be the very first professional baseball player to grace the booth in the studios on 7th Avenue.

Following a game against the Yanks in New York, Butler heard about the location of Quad from his agent Amber Sabathia and took advantage of the opportunity to tour the swank studio known to have been the home of recording to superstars such as Michael Jackson and Beyoncé. It’s also a well known hub for Hip Hoppers, boasting recording sessions with the likes of Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole. Quad is also well known as the location where late rap icon Tupac Shakur was shot and robbed in 1994 while the late Notorious B.I.G. and his manager Diddy were in the studio, igniting the East Coast/West Coast beef in the late 90s.

“I didn’t really know much of Quad until they told me,” Butler said. “I was with Amber Sabathia and she was telling me a little bit more of the history and stuff of it. It’s a pretty cool studio with all those legends that have gone through there.”

The history in itself was more than enough to motive the 23-year-old right hander to jump in the booth and record his own piece of Quad history.

“I was freestyling,” Butler said. “Did the whole thing in 20 minutes. They sent me the song. I had a producer in there mixing it. It was a pretty cool experience.”

Being from Atlanta, Hip Hop is a huge part of the culture, especially in Buitler’s SWATs(Southwest Atlanta) neighborhood, where rappers such as Young Thug, Lil Baby and even Outkast grew up and launched their careers.“Music is a huge thing in Atlanta,” Butler said. “It’s the number one rap scene right now. All we listen to down there is rap music. Everywhere you go is rap music.”

Butler made other stops during his visit to the Apple, including a trip to Fat Joe’s clothing store UP NYC and even sat courtside at Madison Square Garden for Game 2 of the NBA Playoffs series between the Knicks and the 76ers.

When asked if he was going to possibly puruse a rap career after his days on the diamond, to which Butler responded, “I usually just do [music] for fun. I’m not going full rap mode or anything. … If that stuff comes, it comes in the future. Right now, I’m just trying to focus on baseball.”

In the midst of the Oakland A’s slaughter of the Miami Marlins on yesterday(May 4) with a score of 20-4, rookie Brett Harris made Athletics history when he belted two homers in two back-to-back at bats against the Marlins, becoming the 11th player in A’s history to accomplish that feat.

The 20-year-old third baseman started off his major league debut on Friday kind of slow, going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts, Harris redeemed himself on Saturday, going 2-for-5 with three RBIs and his two home runs, the first homers of his career as a major leaguer.

The Arlington Heights, Ill. native was making his second appearance in MLB, getting on base with an error by the Marlins in his first at bat and drawing a walk in his second time at the plate. The A’s were up 12-0 by the time Harris got to the plate for his third at bat, hitting a powerful solo shot to left field in the fourth inning.

He didn’t stop there, belting another two run homer in the bottom of the sixth. No one had done that in A’s franchise history since Ramon Laureano in 2018.

Oakland will try to sweep Miami with another win on Sunday. The first pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.
