Kash Doll Delivers “Back On Dexter: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape” Ahead Of Her Sophomore Album

DJ Drama has certainly been in his bag as of late, teaming up with artists like Snoop Dogg, French Montana, and now, Kash Doll for his Gangsta Grillz series. On Friday (February 10), the Generation Now head and the Detroit rap diva finally unleashed their Back on Dexter mixtape. The 11-song tracklist is markedly loaded with plenty of features, coming from friends like Lakeyah, Peezy, and Sada Baby, just to name a few.

While the release marks an undeniably impressive effort from Kash, it’s not the only thing she’s planning to drop this year. Rather, the new arrival is supposed to set the scene for the BMF starlet’s forthcoming sophomore album. An official release date remains unknown at this time, but fans are already buzzing with excitement over the news.

Back on Dexter was executive produced by Doll herself, though she also had help from Joseph McFashion. It made its debut via MNRK Music Group, and accordingly takes the multi-talent “back to her roots, where it all began on Dexter Ave.” She markedly worked with mostly Detroit-based artists on the mixtape, such as Tay B, Payroll Giovanni, and Louie Ray.

Others who additionally helped the mother of one include her “OH BOY” collaborators, Baby Money, Skilla Baby, Cash Kidd, RiskTaker D-Boy, and DJBJ 3525. Along with her Gangsta Grillz project, Kash also gave audiences a visual for the joint title directed by Diego Cruz. Filming took place in the D, further proving the love that the 33-year-old has for her hometown.

Today In Hip Hop History: The L.O.X. Dropped Their Second Album ‘We Are The Streets’ 23 Years Ago

On this date at the top of the 21st century, legendary Yonkers trio The L.O.X.(Living Off Experience) released their sophomore full-length LP appropriately titled We Are The Streets on the Ruff Ryders/Interscope imprint.

Produced primarily by Double R in-house producer Swizz Beatz, We Are The Streets saw substantially more commercial success than its predecessor Money, Power And Respect, which solidified The L.O.X.’s hardcore Hip Hop fanbase. This sophomore album secured The l.O.X.’s tenure in the game despite their fallout with Sean “Diddy” Combs and Bad Boy Records not long after. The album was propelled by hit singles, but ironically the production of two of the three main singles was outsourced; ‘Ryde Or Die Bitch”, which was produced by Timbaland, and “Recognize”, which was produced by DJ Premier.

The album saw a short tenure on the Billboard charts, reaching Number 5 on Billboard 200 and Number 2 on US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

SZA Details “S.O.S.” Cover Art Being Inspired By Princess Diana

We’re hours away from finally receiving a new SZA album, and fans can’t contain their excitement. It has been five years since the R&B diva released her hit debut Ctrl, and since then, the world has been questioning SZA about her follow-up. S.O.S. arrives at the stroke of midnight, and ahead of its release, the Top Dawg Entertainment hitmaker sat down with Hot 97 to speak on the album’s cover art.

After sharing the artwork, the public quickly noticed that the image mirrored a photo of Princess Diana. While speaking with Nessa, SZA confirmed the rumors and explained being inspired by the late British royal.

“Originally, I was supposed to be on top of, like, a shipping barge,” said the singer. “But in the references that I pulled for that, I pulled the Diana reference because I just loved how isolated she felt. And that was what I wanted to convey the most.”

A last-minute change would lead SZA and her team in a different direction.

“We didn’t get clearance to get the shipping barges that we wanted,” she continued. “And we were like, ‘We’re gonna build the diving board instead. We’re still gonna try it.’ We didn’t nix the boat altogether, and we tried it. It turned out cool, and I wasn’t sure it was going to be really cool until, like, right now.”

The singer has been teasing S.O.S. for some time as she was hit with one delay after another. SZA has repeatedly taken to social media to voice her frustrations, causing her fans to attack TDE’s President then, Terrence “Punch” Henderson. Despite a few dust-ups online, SZA maintains that she appreciates the hard work her label puts forth on her behalf.

Cardi B Reveals Anxiety Has Prevented Her From Releasing New Music

Without a doubt, Cardi B is one of the best-selling artists in Hip-Hop right now. However, for one reason or another, her long-awaited sophomore album never seems to materialize fully. In 2020, she seemed all but poised to start her album rollout with the sensational Megan Thee Stallion-assisted single “WAP.” In 2021, she returned with the solo single “UP,” and earlier this summer, she dropped “Hot Shit” with Lil Durk and Kanye West. Still, Cardi B has yet to confirm when she will officially release her next full-length project.

Cardi’s popular debut album Invasion of Privacy earned her a Grammy and broke several commercial records. Yet, well over four years later, Cardi’s sophomore follow-up doesn’t feel any closer. As a result, several fans have started expressing their frustration with the long wait. Now, in her latest response to fans, Cardi B has shared an explanation for her sophomore album’s delay.

Cardi B opens up about her struggles with anxiety.

In a recent screengrab shared by The Neighborhood Talk, Cardi B reveals that her music career has become a major source of anxiety for her. In the brief clip, she admits that making music used to be fun, but now, all of the criticism and expectations has started to weight down on her.

“I used to love making music, but now, making music to me has become like a job that gives me anxiety,” Cardi B says in the video. “Everybody just critique everything that I do, that it’s just like…you know, sometimes you just don’t want to do something that may give you that much anxiety. So I just be like, “Uh!” — freezing myself.”

Just a couple of weeks ago, Cardi B fired back at a TikTok user who argued that she keeps pushing her album back due to fears over low sales. In a since-deleted tweet, she clapped back, saying, “I am a human baby.. when I drop my album I’m touring the world. I gotta mentally & physically prepare myself for all of that .I didn’t have management for 2 years and now I’m feelin ready ..I DO THINGS ON MY TIME MY WAY.”
