NBA YoungBoy Debuts Latest Album “I Rest My Case”

After debuting a consistent list of projects in the past year, NBA YoungBoy is bringing more heat with I Rest My Case. Coming mere weeks after his Lost Files mixtape, the rapper’s first album of 2023 contains just under 20 songs with zero features.

After originally signing to Atlantic Records, NBA YoungBoy is now with Motown Records, making I Rest My Case his first project released under the label, Billboard reported.

NBA YoungBoy has been enjoying an impressive stride in his music career. Following the release of 3800 Degreez, The Last Slimeto, his Quando Rondo collab 3860, and more, quickly climbed the charts last year while dropping several hit albums and singles.

He also became one of the most streamed U.S. artists in 2022, a testament to the “Make No Sense” rapper’s dedicated fanbase.

Recently revealing his top rap artists on Amazon’s Never Broke Again Radio, he shouted out Shy Glizzy, Young Thug, French Montana, and Soulja Slim as some of his favorite emcees in the game. In another episode, he hyped up Quando Rondo, who is currently signed to YoungBoy’s Never Broke Again label.

Claiming that the “War Baby” rapper is the better of the two, he shared, “The world be hating so bad, and I be keeping it so gangsta. Man, Quando rap way better than me, and them b***hes be hating on my five. I don’t like that twisted ass sh**.

French Montana & DJ Drama Drop Star-Studded “Coke Boys 6” Album

DJ Drama and French Montana have teamed up again for the debut of Coke Boys 6, a collaborative Gansta Grillz mixtape that features hot and rising rappers EST Gee, Benny The Butcher, Kodak Black, and BIG30.

Jeremih, NAV, Rob49, King Combs, Max B, and other members of Coke Boy Records are also listed on the 20-song tracklist. Debuting on Friday at midnight, the awaited album was first meant to release last month but was later pushed back.

Running for just under an hour, it contains songs “RZA,” “Igloo,” “New Punani,” “The Oath,” and “Die In The Streets.”

Coke Boys 6 marks French’s first project since last year’s Montega. Collaborating with producer Harry Fraud, the Moroccan-born rapper featured Jadakiss, Babyface Ray, Rick Ross, Quavo, and more.

After exploding onto the hip-hop scene with 2013’s “Ain’t Worried About Nothin” and 2014’s “Pop That,” French Montana has continued to churn out hits throughout his career.

Providing the notable chorus for Fat Joe and Remy Ma’s “All The Way Up,” the 38-year-old earned two Grammy nominations for the song. He also received a Best Rap Song nomination for Kanye West’s “All Day,” which he co-produced alongside the Chicago rapper.

Sitting down with GQ last year, French Montana opened up about the legacy he wants to leave behind.

“I want to accomplish everything off my bucket list. And I’m not talking about like Grammys, because we can’t control that,” he said, adding, “You can’t control people like you can control the streets. Because, number one, I always wanted to make albums full of all the best music that I love from back in the day.”

Similar to his collaborator Ye, French Montana has often been known to use a variety of samples and genres in his music.

Logic Takes Aim At Money-Hungry, Clout-Chasing Rappers On “Insipio”

While Logic might be a polarizing figure among rap fans, he’s undoubtedly carved his own niche in the game. He emerged as a pivotal figure at a time when the blog and mixtape eras overlapped while the years that followed saw him reaching mainstream success. However, he’s worked to a point where he’s gained a loyal following who are attentive to each and every move, whether that’s his work in production or non-musical ventures.

This week, Logic returned back to basics with the release of his latest single, “Insipio.” On the record, Logic flexes his lyrical prowess, showcasing his double-time flows and coming at the necks of those who he believes are exploiting hip-hop. He addresses rappers who are constantly flaunting material wealth without delivering products with substance. At the same time, he takes issue with those who’ve abandoned their passion for the art in exchange for fame.

Clearly, Logic has a few things to get off of his chest surrounding the current state of hip-hop.

In 2022, Logic dished out numerous singles including collabs alongside Wiz Khalifa, Russ, DJ Premier, Exile and more. However, he also blessed fans with his latest project, Vinyl Days. It’s unclear what exactly he has in store this year but with a new baby on the way, we could expect that fatherhood will be occupying a large chunk of his time.

Check out the new song below.

Quotable Lyrics
I like the way that they jewelry be shinin’, nope
That ain’t the way to think about this rap shit
I’mma musician, I love the art
Shoulda never let you in from the start
It ain’t one man or another

Quavo Pays Tribute To Takeoff On “WITHOUT YOU”

Just days after making his first appearance since Takeoff’s tragic death in November, Quavo has returned with new music in dedication to his nephew.

Huncho delivered a surprise new song on Wednesday night titled, “WITHOUT YOU,” his first release since Takeoff’s death. The rapper delves into his auto-tuned harmonies for a heartbreaking dedication over Murda Beatz’s production. Quavo reflects on cherished memories, from sharing a blunt with one another to major milestones, like gracing the stage at Coachella. However, the most gut-wrenching moment of the record comes towards the end as Quavo goes into a stream of consciousness, repeatedly singing, “Take, I’m sorry.”

Shortly after Takeoff’s funeral, Quavo paid respect on Instagram with a heartfelt tribute. In the post, Quavo reflected on their childhood and growing up together to Take’s innovative rhymes that pushed the Migos to the top of the charts.

“This whole time I’ve been trying to figure what you really are to me because nephew wasn’t it,” he wrote. He further explained that he disliked being called “uncle.” “Now, I finally get it… you are OUR angel.”

He added, “Me and u knew we gon always be with each other for life and jus like now we gon see each other again. I love you with all my heart.”

Quavo’s new song comes a few days after he was spotted for the first time since Takeoff’s funeral. The Atlanta native joined Diddy for his star-studded New Year’s Eve bash in St. Barth’s. The rapper popped out and posted with pictures alongside Meek Mill, Lil Baby and others.

Check out Quavo’s new song below and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.

Quotable Lyrics
Out in the galaxy, up in the stars
Over the universe, it’s bigger than Mars
See you in Heaven, see you in Heaven
When I see you in Heaven, I’ma be with my dawg

DA$H Preps New Album With “Foul Play”

Da$h is locked and loaded for 2023. The rapper’s currently plotting on a new project but first, he set the tone with his latest release, “Foul Play.”

This week, the New Jersey rapper came through with his latest record, “Foul Play.” It’s an exciting release that finds him gliding over soulful production handled by LOOK DAMIEN! The vocal chops bring a sense of ease to the record but it’s Da$h’s effortless flow that captivates the listener to the end. The Is He Dead Yet rapper brings fans through the realities of the trap while also puffing his chest through his lyrical prowess.

The song arrived with a set of visuals directed by SivvyTah of KAMSY. The grainy visuals showcase the “Russian Leather” artist out in the streets, smoking joints and hanging out of his car as he performs the record. The visual effect further amplify the song’s vibe.

The latest release Da$h appears to kick off the campaign for his upcoming project, Skrewface 2. Though he hasn’t set a release date yet, he indicated that the project would be coming sometime soon. Skrewface 2 will also arrive roughly eight years after the original Skrewface tape dropped, with features from Maxo Kream, Chynna, and RetcH.

Overall, Da$h has blessed fans with a consistent stream of music in the past few years. In 2022, he linked up with Sonnyjim for BETWEEN THE LINES ft. $ha Hef and Pink Siifu. Prior to that, he came through with back-to-back releases in 2021. He and LOOK DAMIEN! linked up with Ahnklejohn for HONEY SWEETER THAN BLOOD before dropping off Land For Mann.

We’re excited to hear Skrewface 2. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates on a release date.

Quotable Lyrics
Centerfold my bitch type
Talkin’ ’bout rewards, my n***a, tell me what the risk like
So good at the livin’ shit, I’m probably on my fifth life
Have an ounce of rosin, shit gon’ probably make my brain melt
Lost count of how many n***as said they would but they ain’t help

Metro Boomin Blesses Fans With OG Version Of “Knife Talk”

Over the course of the past few years, Metro Boomin has been one of the hottest go-to producers for some of the best rappers in the game.

On top of producing full-length projects for artists like 21 Savage and Big Sean, he also puts together impressive compilations with an array of artists on his own albums.

On Tuesday (January 3), the “Ric Flair Drip” producer randomly took to his Twitter account to share the original version of Drake and 21 Savage’s “Knife Talk.” Of course, the song is from 2021’s Certified Lover Boy and is a fan favorite.

However, the beat was originally just a collaboration between the Savage Mode artists. The original title for the song, “Gang Sh*t” is appropriate, considering the repetition of this phrase on the hook.

As a result of Drake not appearing on the original, the second verse from the “Glock In My Lap” rapper is extended. The song was first meant to be on Metro and 21’s SAVAGE MODE II. However, the Atlanta native explained to DJ Akademiks that the 6 God heard the song only a few days before CLB‘s release. He subsequently added his own verses, putting it onto the album as a last-minute addition.

“He did his verse the day before the album came out. I had that song. That song was supposed to go on Savage Mode II, but something was just telling me, hold on to it,” explains the 30-year-old.

Evidently, Metro and Drizzy continue to be locked in together. Just a couple of days ago, the “One Dance” artist’s unreleased verse on “Stance” leaked on social media. The song already features Travis Scott and Young Thug. Obviously, it didn’t make the final cut of Metro’s latest album, HEROES & VILLAINS. Check out the verse in the tweet below.

Furthermore, the 29-year-old also has a production credit on “More M’s” off of the Toronto star’s latest album. Of course, this is the 21 Savage collab, Her Loss.

What are your thoughts on the OG version? Do you prefer it over the one that we officially got on CLB? Comment below. Finally, make sure to stay tuned to HNHH for all of the latest music news.
