Key Glock Is Keeping Fans Fed With “Q Dogz”

While Kendrick Lamar and Drake have definitely been the main characters during May, Key Glock is not too far behind them. The Young Dolph protege continues be as hot as anyone due to the quality of his singles this month. Fans are definitely still hungry for a new album, especially after how great Glockoma 2 was. But do not take what Key Glock is doing for granted at this moment in time.

According to a press release, the reason for the Memphis, Tennessee rapper consistently dropping over these last 24 days is because of a pre-planned schedule. Sources close to him are calling this the May Takeover, which is seeing him drop five songs during the fifth month of the calendar. “Q Dogz” clocks in as the third entry and it is definitely up for the best out of the tracks we have gotten. For those who are not aware, his previous efforts include “The Greatest” and “F*** Around & Find Out.”

“Q Dogz” is Key Glock taking the intimidating and braggadocious approach. Even though he is rapping about grisly violence, there are some introspective bars laced throughout too. His definition of living a fulfilling life is being there for his daughter and making as much money as possible. But he is also making it clear to not take his soft side as a weakness. “How dare these f*** n****s to call out me? (Dang, the f***? Fah, fah) / How dare these f*** n****s try somethin’? / N****s rappin’ ’bout bodies, ain’t gone one (Nah).” These lyrics have extra credibility, especially with the haunting instrumental backing it. Glock’s takeover is not just narrowed to this month, but he continues to be impressive with still one week to go.

YG Claims There’s A Lot Of “Weird” Rappers On “Just Re’d Up 3” Single

YG has had some fans excited over the last few months with a new project that is coming soon. That would happen to be Just Re’d Up 3, the third entry in the series. The Compton, California veteran is continuing the saga of projects 11 years after the second one released in 2013. Its origins trace back to 2011, though. However, for number three, YG is not labeling it as a mixtape, rather a studio album. YG formally announced the record across his social media platforms a few days ago, revealing the cover in progress and estimated drop date. Now, YG is back with its third single “Weird.”

This track follows up on the late April release “KNOCKA,” as well as the 2022 lead single “Miss My Dawgs” with Lil Wayne. YG has been straying away from the G-funk and West Coast hip-hop sounds and opting for more straight-line trap cuts. “KNOCKA” had some elements of his OG style, though, especially with the sample flip. But “Weird” focuses on his older sound, and its sounds like something that would have landed on My Krazy Life.

On this track, YG is claiming that a lot of people, including unnamed rappers are oddballs. Quavo Returns To His Regularly Scheduled Programming With “Clear The Smoke”

After a pretty bloody battle with Chris Brown, Quavo is looking to get back on track with “Clear the Smoke.” The former Migo went shot for shot with R&B singer after Breezy rekindled the flame on “Freak.” “Okay, now f***in’ my old b****es ain’t gon’ make us equal / Sippin’ that 1942 ’cause I don’t do no Cuervo / Freak b****, she like Casamigos, not the Migos.” The 11:11 (Deluxe) cut prompted Quavo to fire back on “Tender.” However, it did not stop there, as Brown would then retaliate with “Weakest Link.” Finally, that would be followed up by “Over H*es & B****es.”

Now, with the dust settling on their feud, Quavo can now refocus on the streak he has been on. He has been really keeping the momentum up since he released Rocket Power last September, his tribute to Takeoff and sophomore solo LP. Huncho has worked alongside artists such as Rich The Kid, Destroy Lonely, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign, as well as Chief Keef. However, “Clear the Smoke” sees him riding solo.

Quavo seems to be working on a more ethereal and spacey sound, compared to the straight-forward trap bangers of the past. You are still getting the trademark flows and adlibs but against more grand instrumentals. We saw him experience with that on his last record, so this shift is not too much of a surprise. KILLY Rocks A Unique Delivery Over A Wintery Beat On “FR33ZING”

KILLY, Canadian/Filipino rapper, has been an active voice in 2024. The soon-to-be 27-year-old has dropped multiple singles and two-packs over these first five and half months. He began the year with POP 2, a twofer of tracks with Fourfive and Dom Corleo back in February. Then, in early March, he flew solo on ALL CAPS, which featured the self-titled cut and “GLEE.” Finally, at the end of that same month, he linked up with Bedoes 2115, mlody klakson, kittiesloverage, 2115, and francis for “EMBASSY / AMBASADA.”

Now, KILLY is back with a new solo effort that sticks to his dark trap rap roots called “FR33ZING.” Out of all of his drops this year, this is arguably his most intriguing and best. He has a pretty distinctive auto-tuned voice to begin with, but he experiments a little more this time around. KILLY goes into a deeper register to fit the frigid beat he is spitting over.

He was clearly locked in for this studio session, as his energy level and animated adlibs are proof of that. The “Killamonjaro” MC does a great job of bringing a cadence that matches the wintery vibe. The instrumental is also a nice change of pace, with its cold chimes and bells and rounded bass. We recommend “FR33ZING” over anything we have heard him put forth in 2024.

RXKNephew Makes It Clear That There Are “No Handouts” On Latest Single

If you are not familiar with RXKNephew, you better get with the program! He has been thriving in the underground scene of New York and has developed quite a unique sound. Nephew brings an unorthodox flow that you really are not going to find anywhere else. On top of that, his is also a wild card, as each release is a blind listen. His approach varies from track to track. From stone-faced to tongue in cheek, you really cannot go into a new song and expect anything. It is why each release we cover of his is always so intriguing. Today, RXKNephew has dropped another single called “No Handouts,” which follows up on a bevy of records. One of them includes his commentary on the now lingering Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef.

He did so by hopping on the “BBL DRIZZY” diss instrumental that Metro Boomin released about two weeks ago. However, he did not just focus on them. RXKNephew name dropped Rick Ross, Kanye West, Gunna, Meek Mill, and more. “No Handouts” also supersedes “Money Can’t Replace Time,” which is a promo record for his upcoming project Till I’m Dead 2. That is due at the end of May, and “No Handouts” could be another title to appear on his seventh LP of the year.

Like “Money Can’t Replace Time,” Nephew is taking a more conventional approach, both instrumentally and with his flow. There is a slight discrepancy between how his rapping matches up with the beat. But for the most part it follows suit. “No Handouts” is one of his darkest tracks, especially beat wise, which is provided by Brainstorm. It is trap-flavored and switches up a couple of times to an even more cavernous level. RXKNephew has one with “No Handouts.”

Vayda Drops Club-Ready Single “Baby Baby”

Vayda, a rising rapper, singer and producer from Atlanta Georgia has been releasing singles and projects for about three years. While she has not exactly broken through into stardom, she definitely presents a compelling case that she can be one of the next femcees to make it big. “Baby Baby” is the latest offering from Vayda and it follows up on four tracks released in 2024. This is her first solo record, as the previous ones all included a feature. In terms of projects, she is superseding fever, a collaborative effort with ATTNWH0RE. For Vayda, one thing she has going for her is her family’s background in music. In an interview with No Bells, she spoke about how her dad, who was in a rap group, helped guide her career trajectory early on.

Vayda mentioned how the piano was one of her earliest obsessions in life growing up and how her passion for it grew over time. “Piano my first love… I got an actual keyboard for my birthday. That set it off. I just was always learning new songs,” she said. “I was just playing by ear. My dad would always play music, so I would just pick out certain notes, pick out certain stuff, and just figure it out. And if I couldn’t figure it out, go on YouTube, you know?”

Sheff G Drops His First Song After Posting Bail Called “Everything Lit”

Late last month, New York drill specialist Sheff G was in prison for a gun possession case, as well as an indictment. However, after about a year behind bars, the 25-year-old Brooklynite was released after posting a bail of $1.5 million. This is already his 11th release in total, and it follows up on five April singles. Those include “DARK MATTER,” “CHOPZ,” “OPEN YOUR EYES,” “PSYCHO BOUT THAT DOUGH,” and “SLEEPLESS NIGHTS.” This seventh track where he is the lead act suggests that he could be close to a new project. If that turns out to be the case, Matt OX will have his first LP since his 2023 tapes TEENRAGE and OXygen.

On “MONDAY TO SUNDAY” the main draw here is the beat. It has this vintage video game-like sample woven into the trap instrumental and it is quite fun. He is really thriving and part of the reason for that is the number of big tracks he has released. 2023 is going to be a tough year to beat, but NLE Choppa seems to be up to the challenge. He has just dropped a new track called “Stickin And Movin,” which follows up is hilariously raunchy and sex-positive cut “SLUT ME OUT 2.” Besides following up a highly-discussed single, this song is a big deal because it helps celebrate a tremendous fashion industry accomplishment.

The FERG Era Is Upon Us With New Single “MDMX”

Just a few days ago, fans of the A$AP Mob were thrilled to see that Ferg and Rocky were bumping some new material that they recently recorded. A short clip made the rounds online of the two crew mates getting hype for a possible collab coming soon. However, people are now in shock that the boisterous rapper has dropped the A$AP title from his name. Everyone is just now finding about this due to FERG (his new stage name) dropping a single out of nowhere called “MDMX.”

There is a strong possibility that FERG did not accept the supposed invitation from Nast to rejoin the Mob. He apparently was removed from the 2010s collective in 2020 and things just have not been the same since then. Him shortening his name to FERG could be all we need to know that a new era for the Harlem veteran is underway. “MDMX” is just the second solo single from him since 2021’s “Green Juice” with Pharrell Williams and The Neptunes.

Additionally, it follows up his 2020 sequel tape Floor Seats II, so it has been a long time coming for the “Shabba” MC. “MDMX” is a trap trunk knocker with some trademark voice inflections and pretty entertaining flows. The fact that it is not anything to outside of the box for FERG, could hamper this supposed new trajectory’s impact. But it is a serviceable release until hopefully more comes later on.
