KILLY has been talked about a lot here on the website as of the past few months or so. Since late 2023, the Canadian multi-hyphenate has been consistently feeding his fanbase with a single here, a two-pack there, and even an EP. We just talked about him about two weeks ago with his record “GLEE.” Now, KILLY is back to keep up the pace with “ALL CAPS.”

All of this music has us wondering when KILLY is going to finally pull the trigger on releasing an album. He is always ready to drop stuff like POP 2 or K3. However, it has been two years since his last LP Crazy Life of Sin. What also makes this steady stream of material intriguing is that he is currently on an overseas tour.

However, this one is doing a little too much and it just sounds a bit sloppy. JELEEL! Switches Up His Sound “SEE ME NOW!”

Nigerian American rapper JELEEL! is one of the more energetic artist’s in hip-hop. His sound is perfect for big parties and ragers of all sorts. Last year saw him return after a four-year album hiatus with REAL RAW! last May. For 2024, he has already put out “I LOOK GOOD!,” which delivers his trademark zany cadence. Now, JELEEL! is back with a follow-up “SEE ME NOW!”

While the Rhode Island native does like to use auto tune in his music, it is used to greater effect here. It is all over the repetitive chorus. However, we cannot deny that it is does have a nice melody to it. Additionally, JELEEL! is going into his high-pitched singing cadence instead of his husky rapping delivery.

While it does not sound bad, it is hard to ignore that he sounds like Tory Lanez when he goes into his R&B bag. Again though, it is a vibey tune that is not bad by any means. It just is not as original as his other material. But be sure to support it by checking out the video above.

Another name that needs to be added to that never-ending list is Fridayy, especially after his new single “Without You.”

He is of Haitian and American descent who is from Pennsylvania. He is not a rookie on the site by any means. However, he certainly does not get the same shine and appreciation for his work. He is a master when it comes to blending hip-hop, R&B, gospel, and Afrobeats. “Without You” sees Fridayy take elements of the second and the latter.

Lil Skies Takes A Step Back On “DEATH”

Lil Skies’ career got off to a hot start in the late 2010s with catchy and melodic trap bangers about love and relationships. Of course, his biggest hits were “Nowadays” and “Red Roses” with Landon Cube. That 2017 project Life of a Dark Rose, really put a lot of people on and it flashed a lot of potential. However, since his 2019 tape Shelby, things just have not been the same. “DEATH” by Lil Skies is another unfortunate case.

What makes this even more hard to digest is that this single will be landing on a new record soon. The rumor around town is that Out Your Body Music is supposed to hit streaming services before the end of March. Up until this point, the tracks that are teasing Lil Skies’ fourth tape have not been any more promising. We can appreciate him trying a new sound and cadence, but it just does not sound pleasing to our ears.

For example, his last outing, “THOUSANDS” sees the rapper and singer drowning in reverb and auto tune. While he has always been using it, the effects were more of an enhancement rather than a detriment. “DEATH” features a clunky chorus and video game-like beat that is super redundant and gets stale fast. It does not feel good saying these things about Skies’ music, so hopefully better things await when his LP drops.

Queens, New York singer d4vd is the definition of a multi-talent. At just 18 this kid has already grown immensely and his fanbase proves that. In just the three years that he has released music to streaming, d4vd is already up to over 25.1 million monthly listeners. A big reason why is because we mentioned how diverse he is. He blurs the lines between R&B and alternative, which has been a popular trend as of late. Today, d4vd is back doing that on his newest single “My House Is Not A Home.”

This song paints a picture of a complicated relationship. “But you never really cared about the way that everything turned out / You didn’t wanna fall in love, you’re looking out for yourself now / It’s starting to piss me off, I thought I had you figured out.” D4vd’s “My House Is Not A Home” is the third single to preview his upcoming record, Withered.

DDG Will Do Anything To Protect Halo On “Sh**t Up Your Block”

Over the past couple of months, Michigan multi-hyphenate DDG has put out two singles. Unfortunately, they have not been very memorable in our opinion. His voice seems to be the biggest issue we have with sound. For some reason, it is hard to tell when you hear a song from him. The beats have also been fairly run-of-the-mill. However, DDG is riding a bit of a different wave on “Sh**t Up Your Block.”

The reason we say that is because Cash Cobain produced this cut. If you are not familiar with his style, it is very woozy, low-key, and hazy. He also likes to rely more heavily on bass and less drums. That is the case with “Sh**t Up Your Block.”

Also drawing us into this record are DDG’s lyrics. It is clear that he is dedicating this song to his newborn son Halo. The writing is a little suspect, saying he will “spin,” even though he is “not affiliated with gangs.” Of course, the rapper and his boo, Halle Bailey, welcomed their child at the start of 2024. There was tons of speculation on whether or not she was pregnant. This song also comes at the perfect time, as Halo was born two months ago yesterday.

Doodie Lo Talks Candid Relationship With Drugs On “Purple Nightmares”

For Doodie Lo, things have not been the greatest. The veteran MC from Illinois has been dealing with rehab and a defamation lawsuit that left him feeling suicidal. As for the first of the two personal issues, there was speculation as to why he was entered into a facility. According to Hip-Hop Lately it was because of drug problems that were heightened after the court battles with his ex FTN Bae. Thankfully, it seems that Doodie Lo is working his way back to making music as he is back with a new single, “Purple Nightmares.”

This could be a reference to the troubling year he had in 2023. He raps, “Sippin’ all that codeine, at night, I’m havin’ nightmares / Woke up in the middle of the night, my killer right there.” Luckily, his OTF crew mate Lil Durk was there for him during his time in need. He wound up paying him $110,000 to assist in his recovery.

Today, Tago makes his website premiere with a new single called “D.A.M.N.” Tago hails from Dallas, Texas and his style is so colorful.

On top of the guest spots, Luh Tyler is also going to be participating in one of the biggest music festivals of the year.
