Big Sean Is On Point With New Single “Precision”

Big Sean’s career took a nice turn in 2020 with the release of Detroit 2, a sequel to his acclaimed mixtape. He was more focused and hungrier than ever before, placing some of his best rapping on that project. However, the prideful Detroit MC has been low-key since then. He did put Detroit and the deluxe version of the second installment on streaming, but there has not been anything separate from them.

Luckily though, Big Sean seems like he is back in album mode once again with the release of “Precision.” He is quickly capitalizing on the “Anderson Estate Freestyle” that was gaining lots of positive feedback on social media. Sean was bringing some bars over a late great J Dilla beat “Drop.” For this latest cut, FNZ, Zacari and others give the technically skilled rapper a nasty trap beat.

One thing we can say for certain is that Big Sean has tons of “Precision” when it comes to his flows. There are not many mainstream MCs that have better pure rapping skills than him. While there a still a couple of so-so bars, we do not have much to nitpick. Be sure to check out the new track above.

Quotable Lyrics:

Grandma was in the A, aunty was in the A, and momma had Triple-A

I’m ridin’ shotty while bro had a shoty (Swear) like we in the getaway
I gotta penetrate, I gotta generate, I gave like twenty some years to my hood, now I gotta go live away
I’m out of town but I’m not on the getaway, I spend a giveaway
F*** you mean? I’m the generous king for real

Kota The Friend Pens A Cute & Vibey Love Story With “PNW”

Kota the Friend is one of the most consistently sound rappers right now. While he might not be getting the same love as some of the top-tier lyricists, his pen game is among the best in the modern era. The Brooklyn, New York native recently expanded his Lyrics to GO series with the fifth installment at the end of January. It was another solid entry for Kota the Friend and today he is back with a new single “PNW.”

This single is a delicate love story that sees Kota wanting to stick around with a love interest even through all of her changes. Another layer behind “PNW” or “Pacific Northwest,” is that this woman can be complicated just like the weather in the region. The final fun detail about this single is that it dropped March 19, which is also the first day of spring, a change in the seasons. Kota is always incorporating some cool concepts to his music and this is another example of that.

In terms of the meat and potatoes of “PNW,” Kota is bringing some excellent yet simple writing that allows the listener to easily follow the story. The beat is equally simplistic, and it fits the environment that he is trying to create. The music video is the cherry on top as he held a private listening session for “PNW” for fans in Oregon, which also ties into the title. He wound up filming the reactions and turned it into a music video. Again, Kota is one of the best in the business and this proves it.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “PNW,” by Kota the Friend? Is this one of his best storytelling tracks ever, why or why not? Where do you rank this song in his 2024 catalog? Quotable Lyrics:

Give a f*** what you had did, brought your storm into my crib

And that make it all worth it, we all get lost sometimes
But maybe you all perfect, crazy how love dies
They like your fall version, I want you year-round

Bryson Tiller Is So Back After Dropping New Single “Calypso”

Bryson Tiller fans rejoice, we have a new album on the way! Yes, after nearly four years without one, the Kentucky R&B savant is dropping a self-titled LP on April 5. The veteran posted this announcement on his Instagram moments ago and it is safe to say people are amped. At this moment in time, we have gotten tons of material from Dr. Tiller on Soundcloud courtesy of “Tiller Tuesdays.” However, only one track, “Whatever She Wants,” is the only single for the album. It was originally released on the aforementioned platform but got a slight rework for Spotify and other streaming services. With all of this hype around his return, Bryson Tiller has recently done the right thing by bringing out another single “Calypso,”

This might be one of his best songs in recent memory, as the beat from Michael “Black Mic” Williams, che, Bass Charity, and LEO N, is outstanding. The song will get you on your feet and dancing immediately. There are so many layers such as jungle-esque drums, a gorgeous string section, and hard-hitting synths. It sounds busy but everything just melds together seamlessly. Of course, Bryson is bringing his smooth and sensual voice to the table while he tries to win back a love interest. Two singles in and Bryson Tiller is making a run for T R A P S O U L as his best body of work.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Calypso,” by Bryson Tiller? Is this going to be his best tape to date, why or why not? 42 Dugg Drops Off Grim Single “Wock N Red”

If there is a rapper that embodies the city of Detroit, it is 42 Dugg. Sure, there are plenty of others, but his pit bull-like mentality in his music really drives that point home. The gravelly-voiced MC has been enjoying these last several months as a free man. He was serving a one-year sentence for failing to surrender himself in what was supposed to be a six-month bout after a 2020 federal gun investigation. One of the ways 42 Dugg has been relishing this time has been through dropping singles like “Wock N Red.”

This is now the 29-year-old’s third solo single and fourth total release following his time behind bars. That outlier is a feature appearance on a deluxe Sexyy Red track “Perfect Match,” which also saw G Herbo on it. Probably the biggest success for Dugg so far has been “SpinDatBac.” Part of the reason for that was because there a was a video that was making the rounds on social media.

He was seen in the studio with J. Cole playing the track for him and he was digging it. It has become a fan-favorite since its release in November, receiving 5.5 million views on YouTube. To keep the momentum going for Dugg, he is back with “Wock N Red.” London on da Track has a production credit on this one, as he brings a murderous tone to match Dugg’s violent lyrics. Be sure to check out the music video above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Shibuya,” by Ski Mask The Slump God? Is this one of his strongest tracks as of late, why or why not? Ski Mask The Slump God Drops His First Solo Single In Nearly 2 Years With “Shibuya”

Ski Mask The Slump God has always been a fun, experimental, and hilarious figure in hip-hop. He is immensely talented and is someone you can count for some speedy flows and creative bars. There are not too many rappers like him, but unfortunately for fans, he just does not drop much. However, with Ski Mask’s new single “Shibuya,” hopefully this a sign that he is ready to release more material.

This in the Florida native’s first solo single since October 2022 with “OOGA BOOGA!” On that track Ski Mask sports an easy-going flow over a bouncy beat. Rumors had it that this was going to be a single for his eagerly-awaited sophomore album 11th Dimension. His debut, STOKELEY, dropped all the way back on November 30, 2018.

In fact, it was also a major possibility that Ski Mask would put out the record in November 2022. However, that obviously did not happen. The last update, outside of “Shibuya,” would come in November 2023 on X. “11th Dimension
The Album Coming So Soon,” according to Genius. Now with this new single, there is some talk we could get the album this month, but our confidence levels are low. As for “Shibuya,” Ski Mask is rocking a more laid-back and melodic flow, over a rage-esque beat with some killer synths. In typical quirky fashion, there are some Super Mario Bros. coin collecting sound effects for some extra character.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Shibuya,” by Ski Mask The Slump God? Is this one of his strongest tracks in recent memory, why or why not? What is your favorite element of the song and why? Does this get you excited for his upcoming album, 11th Dimension? Trippie Redd Teases Forthcoming “LIFE’S A TRIP 2” With “LWRW”

Canton, Ohio multi-hyphenate Trippie Redd is certified hitmaker. We have seen it time and time again over the course of his prolific career. He is never afraid to experiment and has pretty impressive range in general. However, it seems some of that magic has been a little trickier to recapture over the last couple of years or so. While there are some quality tracks sprinkled throughout his past several releases, the consistency looks to have faltered.

Trippie Redd is looking to bring back that hype with a new single “LWRW.” It will take about a couple of weeks to see if this effort resonates. However, for us, it comes across as a little to repetitive. We never like saying any music is mediocre, but it just falls a little flat.

It is not a terrible track by any means. But, it is passable at best. But, at least “LWRW” is leading up to something larger. He shared this news on his Instagram back in early December in a now-deleted post with the caption, “Life’s a Trip 2 Every last song will be recorded on a yacht. Taking trips for this ! gotta see the world and work.”

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “LWRW,” by Trippie Redd? Is this one of his strongest tracks in recent memory, why or why not? What is your favorite element of the song and why? Maxo Kream Gives A Touching Tribute To His Father On “No Then You A H*e”

These past couple of weeks have had to be tough for Maxo Kream. The longtime Texas rapper recently lost his father, Emekwanem Biosah Sr., on Sunday February 25. He shared a sad but thankful post on his Instagram, appreciating everything he had taught him throughout their relationship. The rap community came out in droves to support the mourning Maxo and it was great to see them come together and reach out. After letting this settle, he had decided to return by dropping a tribute to his pops with a single. “No Then You A H*e” is a spectral-like track, but it is also beautiful at the same time.

Maxo raps, “Real street legend, to me you was my papa though / Heart attack, a couple stroke, blood pressure, dementia / Papa Maxo was a soldier and through me forever livin’.” “No Then You A H*e,” as we mentioned, has a haunting feeling but it fits the tone to a tee. With its very faint drums and choral-esque vocals, it helps you get lost in the lyrics in a good way.

However, this is not the only solid drop from Maxo Kream lately. He and rising star evilgiane have been cooking up some stuff in the studio. “Bang The Bus” was about what the title says, but it had some inventive production. Furthermore, tracks like “Whatchamacallit” and “Bonecrusher” were both fun collaborations with Luh Tyler and Key Glock, respectively. Hopefully, Maxo can keep this up and deliver an album soon. Our continued condolences go to him and the rest of his family and friends.
