Skrillex Recruited Missy Elliott And Mr. Oizo For The Club-Ready Anthem ‘Ratata’

Skrillex is making his big comeback this year. His new album Quest For Fire is finally out, and it’s his first in nine years. He already released loads of compelling singles with exciting collaborators; “Real Spring” had Bladee, “Way Back” had PinkPantheress and Trippie Redd, “Xena” had Nai Barghouti, and there’s even more on the record.

Quest For Fire is a dynamic adventure through and through, especially with the track “Ratata,” which features Missy Elliott and Mr. Oizo. From the kickoff, the track is sensory-overload; the beat vibrates and buzzes and the flows are quick and full of quips.

Skrillex is going to be taking over Madison Square Garden in New York City alongside Fred Again.. and Four Tet. It’s taking place tomorrow, February 18. In January, Skrillex and Fred Again.. released their collaborative song “Rumble,” which also featured Flowdan.

About his comeback, Skrillex clarified on Twitter, “People ask why ‘I’ve been gone’ or ‘fell off,’ rightfully so,” he wrote. “Like I said, 22 was sort of my tipping point, I had to put everything on ice, especially my projects/career.”

He continued: “For the first time in 4-5 years I’ve found a new sense of peace. It took so much work and sacrifice to get here.”

Skrillex Enlisted PinkPantheress And Trippie Redd For The Hypnotic New Song ‘Way Back’

Skrillex recently announced that he’ll be returning with a new double album, his first full solo releases in almost ten years. The latest single off of it is “Way Back,” a bouncy collaboration that features PinkPantheress and Trippie Redd. At just a little over two minutes, it is an easy listen in terms of an electronic teaser to the record(s).

The track opens with Redd over an EDM beat. “Coming from the cracks and the crevices / Looking for a way back home,” he sings with production over his voice so it echoes in the listeners’ mind.

Then, Skrillex seamlessly introduces PinkPantheress’s soft-but-captivating vocals to make a perfect transition into her verse. “Today, I really got to know my feelings very well / When someone mentions love,” she adds an emotional layer to the song. Still, she notes that she’s also here to have fun, “It’s just a Sunday night / I’m out to buy a dress.”

The DJ had been teasing his work on the song (and the full albums) for a while.

“I don’t like to say too much, but I mean, I have some projects, I hate the word finishing, but I have all the songs and I’m just in there tweaking and releasing some singles before I decided to put out the bodies of work,” Skrillex previously told Zane Lowe in 2021.

Skrillex Fans Are Shocked And Confused That He’s Hanging Out With Notorious Quack Jordan Peterson

Skrillex has, for the most part, been one of music’s beloved figures. As an early star of the dubstep movement, and a former post-hardcore kid, Sonny Moore has worked with everyone from Diplo to Ellie Goulding, and achieved a lot of success all on his own, but his most recent collaboration has the internet up in arms. Last night, notorious quack “Dr.” Jordan Peterson — whose various, controversial claims have been repeatedly debunked by real scientists and doctors — posted a photo of himself and Skrillex posing together with the caption “Guess who.”

Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Skrillex condones everything that Peterson stands for, but it is certainly not the friendship most people would choose to make public. Though Dr. Jordan Peterson was a professor at University Of Toronto up until recently, he retired from the role in January 2022 citing “the appalling ideology of diversity, inclusion and equity” that is “demolishing education and business.” This is from an op-ed he himself wrote, and that is up in the dek, so needless to say it encapsulates his views to a T. So yes, Skrillex fans are pretty unhappy, but some are just here to get the jokes off. Check out some the reactions below.

Skrillex, Justin Bieber, And Don Toliver Turn Into Solid Gold In Their Video For ‘Don’t Go’

Skrillex hasn’t dropped an album since 2015 but nowadays, things are picking up for the producer. His latest release pits him beside Justin Bieber and Don Toliver for their confessional track, “Don’t Go.” On the new song, the singer and rapper go back and forth with verses that plead for their lover’s continued presence over feel-good production from Skrillex. “Don’t Go” also arrives with a new video that captures the trio on display at different various exhibits before they each turn into solid gold right before the eyes of viewers.

The new single comes after Skrillex teamed up with J Balvin for “In Da Getto” last month. With that song, the duo shared a video that captured a massive house party filled with games and all types of other fun. The visual also sees appearances from TikTok favorites Khaby Lame and dancer Mustafa. Prior to that Skrillex connected with Starrah and Four Tet for “Butterflies.”

Elsewhere, Bieber recently unveiled the lineup for his Las Vegas weekender. The getaway experiences will feature performances from The Kid Laroi, Kehlani, Jaden, David Guetta, and more. As for Don Toliver, he’s weeks removed from teaming up with Latto for “Fast Lane” and Kali Uchis for “Drugs N Hella Melodies.”

J Balvin And Skrillex Throw A Massive House Party In Their Electric Video For ‘In Da Getto’

J Balvin has been extremely active in 2021 and his increased presence in the music world comes just a little over a year after he dropped his fifth album, Colores. With his sixth effort seemingly just around the corner, the Latin star teams up with Skrillex to unveil their new collaboration, “In Da Getto.”

In it, the two artists call up their friends to throw a massive house party. The electric gathering features a game of spin the bottle, explosive fireworks in the night sky, and a brief session that finds Balvin getting his nails done. The visual also sees appearances from TikTok favorites Khaby Lame and dancer Mustafa.

The new song and video serve as Balvin’s fourth single of the year. He kicked off his 2021 campaign at the end of February with a trip back home to a barrio in Medellin for his “Ma’ G” video before returning weeks later with his “Tu Veneno” video. Then, at the beginning of April, he shared his third single of the year, “Otra Noche Sin Ti,” which presented a guest appearance from Khalid.

Outside of music, Balvin recently teamed up with UPS for a campaign in support of Latinx small businesses. “My early days in music felt very comparable to getting a small business off the ground, so I know what it means to start from scratch and chase your dreams,” he said about the partnership.

Skrillex’s Latest New Single, ‘Supersonic (My Existence),’ Features Noisia, Josh Pan, And 100 Gecs’ Dylan Brady

Always one to tap interesting and unusual collaborators, Skrillex has put together quite a posse for his latest new single. “Supersonic (My Existence)” features vocals from Josh Pan, Dutch producer-trio Noisia and contributions from 100 Gecs’ Dylan Brady. This ghostly bit of dubstep is the third new track Skrillex has released so far in 2021, following up his house-inflected collaboration with Four Tet and Starrah, “Butterflies,” and the full-on pop-punk banger “Too Bizarre,” that features Swae Lee and Siiickbrain. Though the latest single is the only song to come without its own video, it just might be the strongest of the bunch.

While no word has come yet about an official album announcement or release date, it definitely feels like the groundbreaking producer is readying something big for a new phase. His three new singles mark his first new Skrillex music since 2019. But given the fact we’re on the brink of one of the most anticipated festival seasons in recent memory, it makes sense that Skrillex is making his return. Check out “Supersonic (My Existence)” above and keep an eye out for more announcements coming soon.
