Ja Morant Did Act In Self-Defense During Pickup Game Gone Wrong, Says Judge Chumney

Over the last year and change, Ja Morant’s NBA career has taken a turn for the worse. Of course, those issues have not just been on the court. Most know the Memphis Grizzlies star was suspended for 25 games after instances of waving guns on social media. However, he has also been dealing with lawsuit sent in by 17-year-old Joshua Holloway for assault, after a pickup game turned into a brawl. In late December 2023, Judge Carol Chumney said that a decision would not be made until 2024.

But according to Bleacher Report, we now have a massive update on it. Judge Chumney has come to the conclusion that Ja Morant did act in self-defense after Holloway threw the ball at him. The Tennessee judge said that Ja “enjoys a presumption of civil immunity” under the state’s self-defense immunity statute. Furthermore, the burden of proof now falls into the hands of Holloway’s legal team to try and change the ruling.

Ja Morant’s Name Is Partially Cleared After This Judge Ruling

While he is not totally in the clear, he has to be feeling better. Ja was adamant that he only threw the punch first “to protect [himself]” after Holloway got in his face. Hopefully, all of these situations have helped Ja recover mentally so he can stay focused on hooping. Finally, there will be a trial later on instead of later this month.

What are your thoughts on the judge saying Ja Morant was using self-defense in the altercation with the teenager? Do you think he will wind up not being charged with any crimes, why or why not? Does this change your opinion on the Memphis Grizzlies star? Will he still have a successful NBA career? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Ja Morant and this court case. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on around the world of sports.

Ja Morant’s Immunity In Assault Trial To Be Decided Next Year

A ruling as to whether Ja Morant is eligible for immunity under Tennessee’s self-defense laws is not expected any time soon, the presiding judge has warned. “Everybody was hoping for a big decision, or finality, or something like that. These are important legal issues.” Shelby County Circuit Court Judge Carol Chumney told The Commercial Appeal. According to Judge Chumney, she needs more time with the case due to the lack of precedent. While Tennessee has stringent self-defense laws, they have never been applied to a civil case like the one Morant is facing.

Morant has been sued by Joshua Holloway, who claims that Morant assaulted him when Holloway attended a pick-up game at Morant’s home. Morant has countered that he was defending himself as Holloway hit him in the face with a basketball. Furthermore, Morant’s lawyers have argued that this qualifies Morant for immunity from prosecution under state law. The ongoing trial has played out in the background as Morant made his return to the NBA this week.

Ja Morant Reflects On Suspension, Shines In Return

Morant made his 2023/24 debut earlier this week, helping seal a win for the adrift Grizzlies. Prior to the game, he had reflected on the 25-game suspension he received for flashing a gun on Instagram. Amid some wider comments, Morant said there had been some “horrible days”. However, Morant accepted that simply returning to the Grizzlies wasn’t going to be enough for a lot of people. “I can’t, you know, make nobody believe me outside of my actions. So me answering this question with just words probably won’t mean nothing to nobody,” Morant told reporters.

Morant scored 34 points in his season debut as the Grizzlies improved to 7-19 and snapped a five-game losing streak. “I feel like it was the perfect ending, perfect day,” Morant said of his game-winning buzzer-beater that sealed a massive, 24-point comeback from the Grizzlies. After the game, Morant signed his jersey and gifted it to LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels, who was sat courtside. Daniels was recently named the 2023 Heisman Winner for his monumental season leading the Tigers. However, Daniels will not play in LSU’s ReliaQuest Bowl game against Wisconsin on New Year’s Day. Instead, Daniels will skip the game to focus on preparing for the NFL Draft.

Many of Lil Yachty’s funniest moments come through his friendship with Drake. Given how serious Drake can often take himself, the contrast with Lil Yachty makes for very funny moments. Those included when Yachty threatened to release a video of Drake “eating a glizzy” for his birthday, or when he clowns on Drake for his funny fashion choices.

But their comedic personal relationship could turn into artistic collaboration. Drake is taking a break from music following For All The Dogs, but he will be back eventually. When Yachty is asked about a potential collab album between the two, he doesn’t shut the possibility down. Even if they did decide to make a collab project it’s probably a few years out at the very least. What do you think of Lil Yachty sharing new photos with the self-defense guy? Memo600 Reacts To Lul Tim Getting King Von Murder Charges Dropped

Memo600 is someone who has paid a lot of attention to the situation involving King Von, Lul Tim, and Lil Durk. In fact, anyone associated with OTF is probably keeping tabs on the situation. Although Memo600 is no longer part of the collective, he definitely was aware of what was going on back in 2020 and 2021. As many hip-hop fans already know, King Von was murdered back in November 2020. Overall, it was a shocking incident that had many wondering whether or not Lil Durk would retaliate.

A rapper by the name of Lul Tim was ultimately accused of the murder. Tim is a good friend of Quando Rondo, which led to some thinking that Rondo was in danger. Either way, Lul Tim was facing murder charges. In August 2023, those charges were dropped on the count of self-defense. It turned out to be a huge win for the artist, and fans were certainly split on the issue. Recently, RealToonTV asked Memo600 about the charges being dropped, and how he felt about it all.

Memo600 Speaks

Although he has a prior affiliation with OTF, Memo600 does not believe the charges being dropped is a bad thing. Instead, he believes it is good for people to get off from self-defense charges. As fans pointed out in the comments, this is consistent with someone who believes in self-preservation. If he were in a similar situation to Lul Tim, he would want the same legal precedent to take over. Moreover, others noted that people who are involved with street life rarely like to see others end up in prison.

No matter what, this is a case that will likely be talked about for a very long time. Let us know what you think of Memo600’s take on all of it, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news and updates from around the music world. We will always be sure to bring you the biggest stories from the biggest artists.

6ix9ine Refuses To Leave Florida After Beatdown, Self-Defense Influencer Trolls Him

It’s hard to remember the last time that the “GUMMO” rapper took over the news so powerfully and consistently. Moreover, after footage spread of 6ix9ine’s beatdown at the speed of light on social media, sources close to the rapper stated that he’s not planning to switch gyms or to South Florida, TMZ reports. Given the swift and jesting social media response to his assault, many might consider this a bad move. However, the rapper’s team stands by his alleged decision to not change the way he lives his life based on one incident.

After all, those jubilant about his attack spent years trashing the artist, and it’s a miracle that more headlines like these haven’t popped up. Of course, this is one attack too many, yet his constant taunting in the face of his detractors wasn’t lost on anyone this week. Still, even though much of the rap world responded with either understanding or satisfaction, there are many who saw it as no laughing matter. It’s still an assault at the end of the day, and could’ve been much worse.

6ix9ine Will Not Leave Florida As Self-Defense Influencer Trolls Him

Despite his wishes to keep his security as is, 6ix9ine’s attorney Lance Lazzaaro previously told TMZ that he contacted federal authorities to strengthen protection. Beyond that, if the 26-year-old is looking for tips on how to stand up to such attacks, perhaps he should look at a self-defense influencer’s video trolling him. Moreover, Detroit D.U.S.T. posted a skit of him telling followers how to survive a beatdown in an LA Fitness- “or anywhere else, if you’re six foot nine, or 69 years old, or you were born in 1969.” The video clearly has a more comical slant to it, but at least he does give some legitimate tips.

Whether they work or not is unclear, and Daniel Hernandez probably won’t look for trouble anytime soon. As Charlamagne Tha God stated, though, this is a learning opportunity for those who either taunt to no end, like 6ix9ine, or seek violent solutions, like his attackers. In a world where far too many rappers pass away from violence every year, this conversation should not stay in Twitter memes. Fortunately, he’s okay now, and videos like D.U.S.T.’s are somewhat helpful, albeit satirical. Regardless, check out that self-defense clip below and log back into HNHH for the latest on this story and more on 6ix9ine.
